"Sek’end Sun is a casual neighborhood bar right by the Broadway subway station in Astoria. They have special deals most nights of the week as well as trivia on Mondays. (You can quickly learn how much useless information your date knows and be reminded of how little you know.) If it's warm out, sit in the big backyard and try to refrain from bringing up how nice the weather is. There’s also a big neon sign here that says “Queens” just in case you forget where you are." - will hartman, bryan kim, willa moore, neha talreja
"If you’re meeting up in Astoria, rely on Sek’end Sun for a casual-feeling drink far away from the street. They have fairly regular specials and events like BBQs, trivia, and $8 drinks during brunch, which you can keep track of on their Instagram here. Come here during the warm weather and sit in the big backyard. There’s a big neon sign out here that says “Queens” just in case you briefly forget where you are." - hannah albertine
"At Sek’end Sun in Astoria, you get the best of both worlds. There’s no cover at the door, but you can pay $100 (plus tax and tip) for an open bar from 9pm to 1am. (The open bar is completely optional.) The space, which looks sort of like an old cabin, is pretty casual, but there will be a DJ present, and you can make a reservation for a large group. "Bar-world legend Audrey Saunders couldn’t be sure before Pegu Club opened its doors in 2005 that it would succeed in pioneering the craft-cocktail scene in the U.S.... Saunders put herself under intense scrutiny time and time again to test and sharpen her standards for Pegu Club. The bar held two 'friends and family' nights... The imprint of her influence is everywhere now..." - Eater Staff
