Shabu Zone - Review - Chinatown - Houston - The Infatuation

"Shabu Zone is a well-oiled machine. All of the action is front and center, with the food stations being the nucleus of this Chinatown restaurant. You have 90 minutes to work through everything this AYCE spot offers, and you’ll need every second. We love the endless options, including enough seafood to be its own buffet. Take a page from the veteran patrons’ books and stack your plates with each visit to the food stations. Meanwhile, servers whisk by tables routinely with a telepathic knowledge of when to reorder meat or top off your broth. This is where to maximize your time and maybe invent a new flavor combination at their sauce station. photo credit: Quit Nguyen" - Gianni Greene

The Best Hot Pots in Houston | Eater Houston

"Similar to hot pot, shabu shabu is found in Japanese cuisine and is typically served with a simple kelp-based broth. Recently opened Shabu Zone, located in Bellaire’s Hong Kong Mall, serves up premium meats like certified Akaushi Wagyu, the highest grades of prime rib, ribeye, pork loin, lamb and chicken breast. Not to be outdone by the meat, an extravagant seafood, vegetable, noodle and condiment buffet sits beneath an impressive skylight. Top with some excellent fresh kimchi, and enjoy." - Nadia Gire

A friend suggested to stop by Shabu Zone for bite. While there were some issues, I will definitely be back for more due to the fresh flavors. Not sure what the issue was with the meat selections on our visit. But they only had #5 & #11 available at open for lunch. The whole menu of what your paying for, wasn't even able to be ordered The service was hit or miss waiting. Multiple requests for refills on our soup or drinks. But the flavor of the Tom Tom was delicious. The freshness of the ingredients was spot on. Everything came out delicious. I myself am not a fan of miso, but even that base was delicious. I'm wondering if the dinner service is different from the lunch. So will have to update this review on my next visit. Hopefully allowing the full meat menu. From the pictures / videos, left to right. They have a dessert island (rather small selection). The center island - main course, sides, seafood selections, veggies, noodles, etc. A sauce island - a variety of different sauces to make your own. From sweet to spicy to pay with your soup / Hot Pot selections. I definitely think it's worth a visit to at least try the experience and flavors. Just be prepared during rush hours for a bit of noise here due to the crowd it brings in. If the price was adjusted due to their lack of meat selections or menu full available. This would have been an easy 3-4 review for me. Was there something you think I missed I should try? What was your favorite? Until next time...

I love seafood and I am great to see there are so many options at seafood bar! The beef are also tender. I came in for lunch and the price is quite competitive. Staffs work hard to clean my empty plates in time. Besides,I got my broth and napkin refilled. Both food and service are excellent🤩

Shabu Zone: A Hot Pot Paradise That Redefined My Expectations! Houston, you've spoiled me! My visit to Shabu Zone was a revelation in the world of hot pot. Coming from Massachusetts, where my experiences have been more limited, stepping into this restaurant was like entering a different dimension of culinary delight. Shabu Zone is impressively larger, noticeably cleaner, and sports a sleek, modern vibe that immediately sets it apart. But the real jaw-dropper? The absolutely huge selection of options and ingredients – a variety I genuinely didn't know was even possible with hot pot! Each table is thoughtfully equipped with individual heaters for your personal bubbling cauldron of soup, which is a fantastic touch. I loved that you could customize your broth, even opting for a split pot to try multiple flavors. I went with a dynamic duo: half spicy #2, which packed a satisfying kick, and half Tom Yum, offering that classic tangy and aromatic zest. Being able to switch things up or even mix them a bit as I went was part of the fun. Then there’s the dipping sauce station – a veritable playground for flavor enthusiasts! With over ten options, plus all the components to concoct your own signature blend, it was a delight. I armed myself with three different concoctions and had a blast rotating them, each one adding a delicious new dimension to every bite. A completely new and wonderful concept for me was the array of dumplings and wontons available. It makes perfect sense, like enjoying soup dumplings, but here you cook them fresh in your chosen broth! There were so many varieties, almost like having a dedicated appetizer course before diving into the main event. I confess, I must have made at least three trips back for more dumplings – at the beginning, middle, and even towards the end of my meal, ha! Once you’re ready to truly assemble your feast, an unlimited bounty of fresh veggies, quality meats, and gleaming seafood awaits. The "all unlimited" aspect is incredible! We particularly savored the rich marbling of the Wagyu beef and the tender Rib Eye selections – absolute must-tries for any carnivore. A friendly tip: pace yourself with the meat orders. To prevent food waste (which incurs an extra charge), it’s best to order what you can enjoy in the moment. The seafood selection was a spectacle in itself. I indulged in an amazing variety: tender mini octopus, plump scallops, impressively large prawns, sweet shrimp, fresh clams, intriguing snails, delicate fish fillets, bouncy fish balls, and so much more. Each item was fresh and added another layer to my ever-evolving hot pot creation. To cap off this massive and satisfying meal, Shabu Zone offers a selection of ice cream and various Asian desserts – a sweet, cooling counterpoint to the savory feast. Beyond the incredible food, the service was noteworthy. The servers were genuinely friendly and incredibly attentive, circulating every few minutes to clear plates, replenish our broth, or offer more napkins (and trust me, you’ll need plenty!). Their helpfulness added to the seamless experience. A couple of lighthearted tips from our adventure: try not to overfill your pot with ingredients like one of our enthusiastic guests did, haha – it can get a bit chaotic! Also, resist the urge to cook everything at once. This isn't Vietnamese pho where everything simmers together long-term. For the best texture and taste, cook your items fresh, just what you can eat in the next few bites, to avoid them getting chewy or tough. The family-style, interactive nature of Shabu Zone made for an unforgettable meal. It’s an experience that’s as much about the shared enjoyment and culinary discovery as it is about the delicious food itself. I left feeling so wonderfully full and happy, I joked I needed to be rolled out of there! If you're in Houston and looking for a top-tier, modern hot pot experience with endless choices, Shabu Zone is

I’ve been coming to this restaurant for years, and it never disappoints! The waiters are always so friendly and attentive. Their service is on point. Dishes are cleared quickly, and they’re always refilling soups and drinks without us having to ask. The food is absolutely delicious! I always go for the spicy #2 broth, which has the perfect amount of heat and flavor. The buffet section offers so many options, and I love that you can customize your soup exactly how you want it. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for great food and excellent service!

Food is good and easy to prepare, lots of options. The spicy broth is nice and not overly hot. Servers are always swift and nice. Their ice cream is good as well. Place is a bit too bright, but otherwise great.

Google
Unbelievable price for the lunch and dinner. It is buffet style all you can eat hot pot. Very good business model. The servers are very well trained. The restaurant is clean and stylish. Highly recommend. There was long waiting line on Christmas Day.

Google
Such a great hot pot spot! The broth is super flavorful — rich, comforting, and perfect for soaking up all the goodness. They have a great variety of over 100 items that are always fresh and add so much to the meal. The noodles are also on point — chewy, satisfying, and great with the broth. On top of the tasty food, the service is consistently amazing. The staff is really attentive and friendly.

Google
Cold winter weather commands for a warming meal like hotpot. A good hotpot meal in my opinion, consists of a flavorful soup base (my top priority), fresh ingredients, and the variety of ingredients. Shabu Zone checks all these boxes. There are 8 different soup bases to choose from, 11 different cuts of meat, huge selection of vegetables, a good number of seafood choices, and a small dessert area but with 7 different flavors of ice cream. There is also a sauce area! I got sukiyaki, which was yum. They had sweet potato filling rice cakes and cheese filling rice cakes, which I both loved. I had a filled meal. The restaurant is bright and inviting. Staff is always around to help. This meal at Shabu Zone definitely won’t be my last visit.

Yelp
Love this place! I've been twice with friends. I love the range of options on they have on the sauce bar and with the toppings bar. It's very large inside and incredibly clean and well stocked self service areas. It's a great price with plently of parking, just make sure you show up with the majority of your party or they won't seat you until everyone arrives.

Yelp
This place feels like my original shabu spot, and it never disappoints! The consistency is fantastic--every visit, I know I'm going to get exactly what I'm craving from an AYCE shabu experience. Located in Bellaire, it has plenty of space and tables, so I've never had to wait long to get seated, which is a huge plus. I love the seafood options they offer here, like clams, oysters, and fresh fish--they really enhance the experience. And the pork belly is so good and perfectly tender every time. To top it all off, they have a great selection of different flavored ice cream to finish your meal. Everything I look for in a shabu spot is here, and it's become my go-to for a satisfying meal. If you're in the area and looking for a reliable shabu experience, check it out!

Yelp
Server was really nice and helpful so I'm giving an extra star for that. Prices have increased a buck since I last went. But I think this is our favorite hot pot place in Houston right now. We'll be back for thanksgiving in fact because our family don't like turkey. On the weekends you can get a mala broth. And right now they're offering Korean grilled bbq chicken and pork belly. I've included pics of both. Didn't find either really worth ordering again. Will stick to the wagyu meats and seafood.

Yelp
Honestly, my go to option in Chinatown all the time because of their amazing service and huge variety of foods. Many servers walking around every minute and are attentive to any soup, drink, and meats refill! My favorite meats are #1,2,3,6,10; they are good mix of marbling and lean meats. Love their seafood and veggie options, and ice cream bar. It gets crowded on weekend dinner so there's always a wait, but with how fast service everything is here you will get seated soon. Overall, a good vibe hot pot place with plenty seats. Nice decor inside too.

Yelp
It's been a long time since I came here! Man, I love coming to this place!! If you are a vegetarian you have a good discount on buffet! Great variety of veggies and noodles are available! Great service and fun vibe as well as delicious foods are promised with your choice since you pick what you like Enjoy

I go to this restaurant almost every week. Price is reasonable. Big variety of meat, seafood, and vegetables. I love the assorted island of vegetables, seafood and noodle. Fresh items never empty. The Steff kept refilling and very clean area. Fast service, nice people, and be g paling lot

Yelp
One of the best value for dollar all you can eat restaurants I've ever been too and this place screams "High Quality, Freshness". For $35+ and full access to the entire menu from all sorts of vegetables such as taro root, shiitake mushrooms, all the greens you can think of, baby corn baby baby baby. The sauce bar, garlic, soy, heat, spice, make your own. The seafood is incredible, fresh oysters, shrimp, fish fillets, baby scallops, full baby octopus, etc.. yeah some of it is frozen and thawed out but when you add it to your own custom hotpot you get when you sit, it's amazing. Choose from 5 different types of soups, our server allows me to try all 5 from Tom kha, miso, but my favorite was the shoyu broth. The star is the show is the unlimited beef, when you look at the menu, all of it is available to try. Fresh waygu, lamb, pork belly. On the table, you will see korean dishes such as korean kalbi, bulgogi, etc.. I say try those as you go to blend the salty overall meal with a sugar sweet meat. Then add some crisp vegetables to freshen your taste buds when you go for round 6, 7, 20! Must try

Yelp
Shabu Zone is hands down my favorite all-you-can-eat shabu restaurant in Houston. I've tried many others, but I always find myself coming back to Shabu Zone. The quality of their meats is consistently excellent, and they offer a great variety of vegetables, seafood, and more. I'm particularly a fan of their sauces--especially the premade "Spicy Summer" sauce and their house hot sauce. I also always order the sukiyaki soup; it's a must-try! Even though this place is always busy, the service is impressively quick and efficient. There's always someone available to take new meat orders or refill your soup, which adds to the overall positive experience. Shabu Zone is definitely a Houston staple for hot pot lovers!

Yelp
I have been a long-time fan of this restaurant and now it is absolutely one of my favorites for Hot pot in AYCE category. They have a wonderful selection of mushrooms, vegetables and tofu as well as kimchi and other items not seen at other Hot pot restaurants. The service is courteous and fast and the meat has solid options for your lunch time pleasure. With large TV screens on the wall playing K-pop. It's a lively environment but not too loud. Thumbs up!
google avatar

Yelp
I've tried the tonkotsu broth and spicy broth, and while the tonkotsu was fine, I would not reorder the spicy broth because it was lacking in flavor. During lunch, you can order from #5-11 on the meat menu, which is a pretty good deal! The meat itself was good, although the lamb is tougher than at other hot pot places like Happy Lamb or Liuyishou. I would order the beef here instead.

Yelp
One of my favorite hotpot places in Houston! They have a wide variety of broths, meats, and other all you can eat options like blue crab, squid, fish, tofu, noodles, other seafood and much more. They also have Chinese donuts and bonchon (fish tofu), and kimchi. They also have ice cream and Vietnamese Che. The service was amazing, refilled our meats, broths, and waters quickly. I'd come back!

Yelp
Shabu Zone is my favorite AYCE hot pot in Houston! They have fast friendly service & their buffet is always stocked and clean! I normally go for their tonkotsu or basic soup base. As for meat their number 11 & 5 is literally all I eat (just preference, but all other meat is good too!) I really enjoy their seafood options as well, such as their oysters, shrimp, clams, & fish. They recently added cooked bulgogi that you can order (included in ayce) and it's a new fav! Plus they have a dessert bar and ice cream! I also appreciate the variety of flavored ice cream, the green tea and red bean is a must try!

Yelp
Nut allergy friendly. They say to mention it to your waiter but I haven't had to. Most of the nuts are on the sauce bar in the corner - the main one on the island is pretty nut free. The sauce I make is very simple - spicy ponzu, chili powder, green chili, sweet garlic, and some green onion. If you like hot pot but hate sharing a pot between six people, shabu-shabu is a must try. It's hot pot, but everyone gets their own pot and hence their own choice of broth. Shabu Zone's broths are a little bland. I got the Spicy #2 and it was not spicy at all. This is easily remedied by following their suggestion of cooking your seafood first, which does add richness to the broth. A common complaint of hot pot is that all of the meats blend together. This is only true if you overcook your meat. Thin slices of beef take seconds to cook. If you leave it in the broth, then yes, you're getting overcooked, bland, stringy meat. #1 and #4 meats were very flavorful. I will say, two of the waiters had no idea which meat was which either, but they were able to bring us more on sight alone which I thought was hilarious. The seafood bar is not the freshest but it is adequate. Plenty of hot pot style vegetables, like four types of mushrooms. The service is lightning fast. Meat comes out in less than five minutes, and waiters are clearing plates every few minutes too. Impressive considering the restaurant was totally full with a 15 minute wait when I went on a Friday at 7PM. Overall, a great time to enjoy hot pot at the reasonable price of about $40/pp after tax and tip. They give a free bottle of champagne for your birthday, too!
google avatar

Tina N.

Yelp
It's AYCE hotpot and the service is so fast! Wide variety of meat/veggie toppings! All variety of dumplings and hotpot balls. Great side dishes but the sauce station is limited. Highly recommend if you're craving hotpot!
google avatar

Yelp
I've been here so many times now and finally decided I should review it! Service is great! Food is fresh and the buffet area to get your food is very clean! I love the meat selection they bring out to your table. They are pretty busy as I'm sure alot of people enjoy coming here and for good reason! They have increased the price by $2-3/person over the last couple years. But I think the value is still decent considering all the work you have to do eating hotpot at home! This is our go-to hotpot place!!

Yelp
Let this be a testament that the food was amazing, because i don't have a single picture! I was with amazing people so we all got distracted and forgot to take pictures of the place, the food, almost everything! This place was recommended by someone at a different restaurant and let me tell you we were so pleased with everything. And I do mean everything! The place is clean, inviting, the tables were great, the staff omg the staff, everyone was so friendly and helpful! Everyone walking by was quick to help clean up, to ask if we needed anything else, very much on top of the refills. We were there to celebrate a birthday and they even played a happy birthday song, provided plates for cake and gave a complimentary bottle of champagne to toast!!! I ordered the #6 broth with ribeye and prime rib meats, now ordinarily I have to doctor up my broth with all of the sauces, but honestly I only added a bit of soy sauce and only because I tend to like my broth a little salty so my carrots and broccoli can absorb the flavor. They had everything I like from the shrimp, muscles, scallops, corn, broccoli, mushrooms, carrots and they even had jalapeño slices which I hadn't seen before! I also prefer a thin noodle over the thick ones and they has seaweed noodles! I didn't even bother taking a picture after the meal because for the first time ever I actually finished my broth! Again I didn't have to do a thing to it! Lovely flavor profile had just enough of everything! This will definitely be added to our usual spots, now like most hotspots it is a bit pricey but definitely well worth it! You can always try it during the week as they do have lunch specials! Oh the rice wine Sparkling Korean Rice wine in the grapefruit flavor was also surprisingly tasty! In conclusion, sorry I can't provide you with pictures of all of the food options! I'm usually better about this, but seriously give them a try you will not be disappointed! We also got seated very quickly! Keep in mind they do have a 2 hour table policy so try and get your party together before anyone is seated and they do have a fee for any food ordered in excess, which I mean I'm not mad about, keeps them from wasting a lot of food and honestly as a whole we need to work on not being so wasteful!

Yelp
Best place in Houston to full fill your cravings of hot soup! Love coming to Shabu zone for the all you can eat lunch and dinner menu. They have abundant choices of meats, broths, vegetables, seafood and sauces, this place is perfect. Servers are very attentive ensuring that you have meats in your table as much as needed and refill your pot with broth as requested. My favorite broth is #4, Tonkotsu and meat choices are #1-#4, #5 & #6 and #11. Every time I dine here, always leave full, nice and warm inside. This place never disappoints and keeps getting better and better every time I go.

Yelp
AYCE Hot Pot: I visited during dinner hours and chose the dashi broth, which happens to be my favorite at this place. I also tried their miso and tonkotsu broths, but personally, I found the dashi to be the best, especially when paired with the meat. The buffet section in the center offers an array of unlimited vegetables, tofu, seafood, sauces, ramen, and even ice cream. It's quite a treat! I particularly enjoyed creating my own ponzu sauce and corn cream sauce. I highly recommend trying their number 5, the Akaushi Wagyu prime chunk eye, and number 11, the Akaushi Wagyu beef belly. They were absolutely delicious and became instant favorites of mine. I will definitely be returning for more. 10/10 Service: The staff was attentive and consistently checked on our table, ensuring we had everything we needed. They promptly took our orders and kept our table clean. I had a wonderful experience with my waiter, who not only asked if I needed more broth but also took care to pour it without splashing by covering it with her hand. The service was exceptional. 10/10

Yelp
What's better than all you can eat shabu shabu? Nothing really. However, when in texas and the weather is triple digit outside and we're inside eating 100+ degrees soup . They crank up the AC so it's not bad. If you're visiting and in town I would suggest going lunch weekdays because you'll save $10. Although, they do limit the meat choices but to be honest, there were plenty of another meats options, seafood, veggies etc! The meat in the end tasted the same to me. We did go during lunch on the weekend so it was a little pricey for us lol. You will not be disappointment with the selection! Probably the best hotpot/shabu all you can eat I've been to ever! The veggies, noodles, seafood, were all self service like buffet. They also have self service desserts (fruits and sweets). They also have a bar of Korean sides like Kimchi and radish. That day, there was also a station for yummy Korean fish cakes. The only thing you have to order with waiter is the meat! The meat came out quite fast! The plate are small comes with 6-7 thin slices so you can try a variety or test the water before ordering more. We honestly didn't know which meat is which and they didn't tell us so it was hard to reorder the one we liked and didn't bother to ask. So if a lot come out, I recommend to ask what they are so you know. The waiters all work together pretty much so things were cleaned fast. Service was nice and fast. Definitely enjoyed my time here with friends. We were here for probably about 2 hours due to talking and such but you'll be filled fast. If I ever come back to hot sweaty Houston, definitely a stop by again!

Yelp
Food is always good here. My recommendations are the spicy soup broth and meats 5, 6 and 11! You'll never go wrong with these choices! Other than that, the tonkatsu broth is also good, and you can add your own spicy from the assortment of different spices at the sauce bar. The only thing I will say, service has definitely gone down. The person serving us just stood at our table for like a good few minutes not saying one word to us, just staring in the distance. No hello, no what would you like to drink, what meats, nothing. I've been to shabu zone many times and never had this happen before. I can understand if you want to leave customers to look through the menu, but we weren't even looking, we knew what we wanted. Luckily, the food and price are good here or else I wouldn't go so often.

Yelp
My friends and I love Shabu Zone! It's reliable and a massive establishment, but it does get busy and waits can get long. They have a ton of ingredients for you to choose from. I also love how they have K-Pop music videos playing on big screens because I enjoy eating and watching at the same time. My favorite thing about Shabu Zone is probably their ice cream--it's so creamy and delicious! Service is pretty good too. I like their tonkatsu broth.
google avatar

Jacquelyn C.

Yelp
Though shabu zone is a HUGE place, it can get pretty busy here pretty quickly. It's an AYCE spot and they have a LOT to choose from. You order your soup base and meat selection with the waiter and you can pick from a buffet-esque selection of seafood, veggies, and sauces. I got the spicy house soup which was good and provided the kick that I wanted. If you like sweeter broths, I recommend the sukiyaki--my friends got this and they enjoyed it immensely. The meat we ordered were all of good quality, and the veggies at the buffet line were super fresh. The seafood is frozen, but cooks pretty quickly despite that. The sauce bar is also pretty large with lots of different options, and they also offer different types of kimchi!
google avatar

Yelp
We were looking for a place for individual hotpots and a place that had crabs. This was it. I give this place 5/5. This place was clean, service was great as they came by often to take away empty trays, asked if we wanted more meat or broth, and incredibly friendly/attentive. The meat was cut nicely compared to other hotpots in Houston we came across and we enjoyed the buffet center to get up and get our veggies, sauces, etc. We only wished that there was a slightly bigger place for dessert area because every time we checked there was a long line when the place wasn't full.

Yelp
It was a cold night and perfect time for hotpot. Shabu zone is our go to place. There is usually a short wait during cold nights as a lot of people have the same idea. Once seated, you have a choice of soup. If you are not familiar with Hotpot, you grab raw ingredients from the bar located in the middle of the restaurant (vegetables, seafood, noodles) and you dunk the raw food into the hotpot. What soup you choose is a matter of preference, for me, I always go for the Tonkatsu (#4) which is pork broth and is very tasty. We went to the buffet bar and grab our first plate consisting of vegetables ( spinach, watercress, mushrooms, fish ball, tofu skin, meat ball, corn and others). We also grab a second plate consisting of seafood from the bar as well... shrimp, scallop, mussels, clams, squid, fish and oysters. Once the soup starts to boil, we start putting seafood first then vegetables although don't think there is any real order so you can do whatever you like. They also have some sauces you can combine. I usually get the flaming ponzu that's also mixed with a number of ingredients... in addition, i add more garlic and spring onions. Yum! You use dunk the cooked meat, vegetable or seafood and enjoy. Oh yeah, don't want to forget them best part. They have 11 different meats and meat cuts to choose from. Place the order with your server and they will bring it to the table. Best cuts, IMO, are 1, 2, 3, 5 and 11. Go ahead and experiment and enjoy! Whenever meat is running low, you can order a new set of meats. There is ice cream and fruits on the side. Flavors include red bean, green team, vanilla, strawberry, chocolate and sometimes, mango. Restaurant is nice and bright. You can ask for refills, napkins or more soup or meat from any server. Think they pool the tips.

Yelp
Shabu Zone is a really solid AYCE hot pot place! I've been here multiple times this year for both lunch and dinner and the food and service has been consistently good. I've tried several of their broths and enjoyed most of them. On my last visit, I went with the sukiyaki broth and it was light and slightly sweet; Great if you are looking for a base that isn't too heavy. Of all the meat options, I love the Akaushi Wagyu Beef Belly the most! I also love mushrooms and they have a huge mushroom selection in the self serve buffet bar. It can get very crowded but the staff are always on top of things and handle busy times very well.

So much food. And so good. So many choices. Really the only bad part was the ice cream station. You get to self dip and it was disgusting. Kids were dipping and adults with hairy arms. Bleh. Other than that everything was fresh and good and service was really fast.

Yelp
AYCE lunch for $22 is a no brainer. Always very crowded so make a reservation on their website; otherwise wait can be over an hour. Meat quality in general is good here, although they don't trim the fat off some cuts as much as they should. The sauce station is also pretty limited and the dessert just consists of some fruit and ice cream. But again for the price, it's an easy decision.

Yelp
shabu zone is my go-to hotpot spot in Bellaire. They have a large selection of items that most places cant compete with. I love the selections of meats, noodles, sauces, side dishes, etc. They're usually pretty busy whenever I go but since the restaurant is so big, I feel like the line moves pretty quick. Their staff are efficient of getting customers items ordered so you might not have a single server designated for your table but that's why the service is so quick! One thing I would note is to make sure that you're cooking your seafood thoroughly. I have known people that have gotten sick due to their seafood so I would be cautious about that.

Yelp
I've been here several times with family and friends. AYCE hotpot can't get too much more than this place! They have a large variety of options of veggies, meats, seafood, dipping sauces, and even ice cream! I come back when I get a chance because it's basic and good! I would say that every time I go, service is not the same. Every so often I run into a server who gives an attitude when we request an item or they forget. There's one particular gentleman who works the party room in the back for large groups who has an attitude and refuses to work a table that isn't his. He's told us before that we have to ask our server but he doesn't help place the order or pick up plates so not much of a team player. My uncle once asked for a soda but didn't know what options were since it was mid way through the meal and the server asked what soda did my uncle want but didn't list out the options or get a menu to make things easier. Instead my uncle asked what options were available and he just said "coke products" in a sharp tone. It's like he was very impatient. He has semi-curly hair and wears glasses. Other than this interaction with this awful server, Overall everyone else is pretty good at making sure our table is clear of empty plates and coming by to check on us to make sure we have enough broth in our pot and meat on the table. I'd still come back but hope I don't get sat in the rude server's section.

Yelp
The service was terrible. I went with my 18-month-old child and my husband. I asked for an extra pot, but there was no soup, so I used bottled water to cook some food for my son. In the end, my son didn't eat anything. However, towards the end of the meal, they wanted to charge us for three people because we used three pots, even though the menu clearly stated that children under 4 years old would not be charged. Also when we requested an extra pot, no one told us we would be charged an additional fee. Even the manager, when arguing with us, had a terrible attitude. I'm very upset with how they handled the situation and will not be going back.

Yelp
The go-to spot for my hot pot cravings. Have it your way hot pot and couldn't ask for more! The variety and selection of vegetables, seafood, and meat for the price you really can't complain. It's competitive and good. We all know Houston has a plethora of selections when it comes to Asian cuisine. Granted I haven't tried all of them, but this place always hit the spot! I've been here time and time again over the years, and it never disappoints. The broth is flavorful. Vegetable and seafood is fresh. The meat is delicious! The staff is friendly and very welcoming. Everyone is very accommodating. The interior is clean and fresh.

Yelp
One of my favorite shabu place I have ever been to! I been going on weekdays for lunch prices and I think the value is amazing. The place is huge so there is plenty of seating. Everything but the meat is self served. There is plenty of choices for sauce, veggies, seafood, noodles, fish balls, and etc. The meat quality is why I love this place! Going during lunch only gives a limited selection, but even when I went during lunch selection 5, 6, and 11 are my favorite. 8.9/10

Yelp
My kids love this place. Good food and good service! The restaurant is clean and they always have plenty of staff to assist the clients. Will go again!

Yelp
Excellent hot pot place to dine - great taste, not greasy, ample selection of base soup, meats, seafood, vegetables & noodles. When in Houston I'd come back again.

Yelp
I keep getting Shabu Zone recommended to me, from peers and friends, even yelp and online reviews looks great, so I decided to try this Shabu spot for the first time for dinner on Friday with my friends since we were hanging out around Chinatown. We arrived at around 8.30 pm and it was packed! Nice ambience. Movin on the foods. There were plenty of selections ranging from Vegetables, seafoods(they even had scallops, shrimp and crabs, fish, etc, sauce stations and ice cream stations. For dinner, the meat selections on the menu are available from number 1-11, and we tried them all except the chicken. For the soup, I tried the tonkotsu and basic soup which was recommended to me. Tastewise, I didnt really like the basic soup and prefer the Tonkotsu, I wished both of them were a lil bit more tasty and salty. All free refill. For the meats, I like the scallops, fish and the beefs, pork belly and lamb leg. The meats were all so tender and soft, so cant complain. The sauce especially the soysauce with scallions, green onions and garlics was good, I even added the green chilli to add a little more kick and spice to it, made a great dipping sauce. Ice cream were super good, especially the green tea, red beans and strawberry. I ended up trying all of the flavors, i think there were like 6-8 flavors there. Other things considered, service were great, our waiters were super friendly and always offered to add and request more meats. Prices, meh, I paid $35 including taxes not including tips, which I think is "Alright" prices. All in all, if you haven't been in this place, I would recommend you to visit, I personally would return but not often, only once in a while. This is not something I would visit every month but rather 1-2x a year. Taste 6.5/10 Price 7/10 Service 8/10 Ambience 7/10

Yelp
Shabu Zone is one of my favorite hot pot spots in town! There are so many different sauce options to choose from that I never get bored. They have pre-made ones available and mix-and-match options, too. The spicy ponzu sauce is my personal favorite. I like the way it complements their sukuyaki broth. The tonkotsu broth is a classic choice as well. If you're a fan of seafood, definitely give the house spicy broth a try, though. It adds a nice kick to the flavor profile. They offer six different types of beef cuts, but I'll be honest - I can't really taste the difference between them. It all comes down to texture preference for me. Don't let that stop you from trying them all, though! And don't forget about the seafood options, there's a great variety at the buffet. One thing to keep in mind is that this place can have a long wait during peak hours, especially for larger groups. And once you're seated, it can be difficult to get your server's attention since it gets so busy. But overall, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is fun. Don't forget to ask for the crab claw cutter!

Yelp
Best hotpot joint in town! Came here a couple times and it was always amazing! The prices are very reasonable considering it's for unlimited meats and hotpot ingredients. The staff is very friendly and they always offer to refill your hotpot's and they check up in you regularly. There is usually a 2 hour limit to eat but most of the time the staff will let you stay as long as nobody needs your table. The vibe is always happy and chill! Very strongly recommend!!

Yelp
Love this place! Meat, seafood and veggies are always fresh. I love their tonkatsu and sukiyaki broth!! You can always adjust your spice level by adding more chili oil or customize it from the dressing bar with more garlic or jalapeños! Very family friendly and I love how everyone can get their own individual pot.

Yelp
A very nice ayce hotpot place. They do close at 3pm for 2hrs to prep for dinner just fyi. Lunch was good here in my 1st visit. Clean salad bars with selection of usual veggies, seafood, noodles and fish cake . Broths were simple but honestly what you cook in is what you'll determine the flavors. Meat selection were limited on lunch, but still enough to go along. I like the fact they had a premade sauce selection so from there I'll add some extra to my liking. Oh and you can Switch broths as well!!! Definitely worth another visit.

Yelp
The service was amazing and very friendly. The menu options were extensive and they had meat quality. All of the side were delicious and it is very worth the price race for AYE! The establishment was also very clean and chill with great parking options.

Yelp
The food and service is fantastic! I moved to Houston from Tokyo and I have found my go to place. Unlimited seafood and the sauce bar is exceptional I ended the night with Miso broth, hand stretched Korean noodles and white kimchi. Fantastic!

Yelp
Always a fun and very solid experience! Options to do a vegetarian menu as well if you'd like that is cheaper than the AYCE meat option. Parking here is usually easy to find though this plaza can get very crowded at rush hour since the Hong Kong Mall is in the area. You go in and you can choose from around 8 different broths and then 13-14 cuts of meat. You can go ahead and serve yourself noodles, seafood, vegetables, dumplings etc. and then make your sauce from a bunch of different options. Don't forget to get the fresh fruit and ice cream! The service is friendly and fast. It can get a little harried when it's very busy but this is a mostly serve yourself situation anyways. Price is generally around $30 after tip per person!

Yelp
As someone who loves hotpot, this is my fav place to get it ! Its all you can eat so come hungry. And come early bc it gets really busy esp on weekends. You get your own individual hotpot which I appreciate. My go to broths are either the sukiyaki or spicy house soup (not too spicy). The vegetable & seafood selection is immaculate. Theres so many choices & its buffet style so you can get as much or little as you want. The meats are all quality. I've tried all the meats but the #1, 5, 6 & 11 are the best. When you're running low on meat, the waiters will ask if you want more and quickly bring out another plate. They have at least 15 options for sauces for you to mix and match. I've been at least 10 times and this place always leaves my tummy happy and very full. Apparently on Tuesdays you can get ayce Korean short ribs now :O

Yelp
WOW. Throughout college my friends and I ate hot pot frequently at random places around Bellaire and we really enjoyed it. Eventually we just started doing hot pot at home because it was as good as the restaurants we were visiting and it was cheaper this way so might as well save some money right? Shabu Zone is different. The quality and variety of food is far beyond what you'd be able to achieve at home by yourself. On top of that the servers were extremally accommodating with our large party of people and made sure to ask if we needed more meat or drinks any time we were out. This has become my new favorite hot pot spot in Houston and I will be going back again and again, and I recommend you check it out!

Yelp
We had dinner here last night with another family. This was our 2nd time here. I move the restaurant. It looks freshly remodeled. I love that everyone has their own pot. The selection of vegetables, seafood, kimchi, and noodles is awesome, 5/5. I will say the meats themselves are 4/5, but the overall experience is a definite 5/5. Great value as well, all you can eat for a very reasonable price!

Yelp
One of my favorite hot spot locations! The cuts of beef are so thin and nice! Good selection of broth flavors and a good seafood, etc. bar. I go there a lot!

Yelp
THIS PLACE WAS SO AWESOME!!!!! This is one of my new favorite spots in Houston and I will definitely be trying to come here every time I visit. First of all, $30 AYCE is SOOO worth!! The meat quality was really good despite being AYCE, too! The bar for sides is also super stacked with lots of yummy stuff, and the sauce bar has SOO much yo really curate a flavor to your own tastes. The server was really nice too! I could imagine his stress due to how busy the place was but it didn't stop him from being so friendly and attentive. I wish I remembered his name so I could include how much I appreciated his service here! Our plates were collected as soon as they emptied and we were always asked if we needed more meat at the perfect times. I was super pleased. The restaurant itself though felt a little cluttered with how the tables were organized. Felt quite packed and close together. Wasn't too much of a problem for me, but I could see it being a problem for larger families with smaller children and those who are needing more accessibility. I went on a Saturday evening, and it was SOOO extremely busy. If you go during a busy time, be prepared to wait a LONG time. I had an approximate 1-2 hour wait, and was able to get seated after almost an hour and a half later. I didn't mind since there were plenty of shops nearby to pass the time with, though. I think it was worth and I'd do it again, but it IS a lot.

Yelp
Love the ambience at Shabu Zone! It's very clean and spacious and it's a very casual/relaxed eatery. Although the meat quality isn't the best, the sheer amount of options you have in the buffet style toppings bar makes up for it. I usually get the sukiyaki broth and make a ponzu and egg yolk dip on the side. The sauce bar is also one of the best i've seen in Houston! The service is amazing, all the servers are very attentive and are constantly coming back to the table to refill you on whatever meats your heart desires! Would recommend for sure!
