Shin Jung Korean Restaurant Orlando

We were really excited to dine at Shin Jung, especially knowing that it has been recognized in the Michelin Guide three times. Food: The banchan and salad were excellent—fresh, distinct in flavor, and well-prepared. The meat was also delicious and marinated perfectly. Personally, I enjoy my meat a bit more charred, but I felt that the staff did not appreciate us grilling it that way. At one point, they even turned off our grill, though our meat was still actively cooking, not burnt. Service: One moment that stood out was when I was cutting the raw kalbi with scissors. A waitress tapped my arm and told me I was cutting it incorrectly. While I understood her intention and why she corrected me, I didn’t appreciate being touched in the process, as it felt a little too strong. I’ve been to many other Korean BBQ spots and I’m usually the main one grilling in friend groups, but I’ve never had staff seem annoyed or frustrated with the way I grill or cut the meat until this visit. Overall: The food was very good, and it’s clear the restaurant maintains a high standard of quality. That said, I did feel like some of the ways we enjoyed our meal may have unintentionally annoyed the staff. Still, it was a memorable experience, and the flavors alone make it worth visiting.

The parking situation can get a little tight, but if you come early-ish around the opening time I'm sure you'll be fine. Friendly servers and great quality meats. The sides were awesome and I also liked the highball I got as well. Would recommend trying out this restaurant!

This is by far one of the best Korean restaurants we’ve eaten at. Our group of 9 enjoyed every bite. No leftovers. Yum!

A very good restaurant. The staff are very friendly. I have many dishes that I want to try, but since I'm alone, I can only take it slowly. The buckwheat noodles I tried this time were really great!

Super friendly staff. Very nice variety of food (cooked by chefs or BBQ by patrons at the table). Even though the place was crowded there was a nice atmosphere where I was able to enjoy my food. The server lady that assisted me was on point and even suggested places I can visit to experience authentic Korean experience. Will definitely be back!

If you're looking for authentic KBBQ, look no further. The staff, ambience, and most importantly, food are all on point! :D Update: 4 years, a fire, a pandemic, and major renovations later, Shin Jung has finally reopened! it definitely feels more modern now. The KBBQ and pajeon are as good as I remember. Plentiful refills on banchan. Prices are reasonable for Orlando. Service was friendly and efficient. Not a long wait even on the weekend for dinner. Update: They changed their menu, and while the Kalbi is as good as before, everything else isn't as good anymore. Even their banchan doesn't seem as good. Maybe it was just an off night, but I hope this isn't a trend.

I finally came back to my favorite Korean restaurant. It's definitely improved for the better. I was sad to hear that the original place burned down and was concerned that it wasn't coming back. But did it come back and better than ever. The place is brighter and somehow appears bigger inside. The BBQ was amazing, the sides were tasty, and my favorite bimbumbab was just as delicious as I can remember. I highly recommend this Korean gem in downtown Orlando. If you're a foodie, don't miss out coming here.

My new favorite go-to kbbq experience when I'm in Orlando. There was no wait when me and four of my friends got there. We got the Combo B for 5 and it was so good. The bibimbap was so delicious. We added the Japchae because we weren't sure all of the food was enough for us because WE CAN EAT. Everything I ate was so good and there really was just enough food for 5. We split the check 5 ways and it was just around $30-40.

Great Korean BBQ and other standards -- service is prompt and efficient while the atmosphere is pleasant but very active and a bit noisy but it was packed because it's a popular place with great food

The restaurant is smaller but well designed and clean. The entire interior is well designed and not too busy. I ordered the seafood pancake appetizer and had the Japchae. My date ordered the dolsolt/bibimbad. Both were absolutely delicious. The small servings of Korean potato salad, kimchi, fish, Etc, were all delicious too. I definitely ordered way too food for two people but the left overs were also wonderful. This is one of my favorite Korean places I've been to so far. I hope to return soon.

I truly enjoyed Shin Jung! It was super clean inside and didn't smell super strong like most kbbq places. The food was great and all of the meats we picked had great amount of taste. We payed about $50-$60 a person and had so much food including an appetizer sample and bibimbab to share. Everyone left full and satisfied with leftovers! Service was great and attentive. The server recommended ways to eat the meat and even brought out more pairings as we ran out. I think it was one of my favorite kbbq experiences to be honest. If you don't like someone hover though you may not enjoy that. Anyways, they are a part of bite 30 so I actually plan on returning again soon!

I've been coming here for a while (before and after their fire!) and they are one of the tastiest KBBQ in town! Most recently, I went for their new(?) lunch specials since I had the day off of work. They do a 4 person KBBQ for $80 (and an up charge for "better" meats). This is a great deal if you go with 4 ppl (you can go with less) since you get a choice of teobokki or Mandu; choice between stew and bibimbap/dolsot; choice of 3 marinated meats; choice of 1 unmarinated meat or veggie; and unlimited banchan. There was more than enough food and good quality too.

I love coming to Shin Jung Korean, I use to come more before they be built but I'm happy to say the interior looks clean and new but the same set up, which is nice and familiar. I started with green tea which was much needed on this cold day. To eat we ordered fried beef dumplings which were very juicy and tasty. For dinner we had the beef bulgogi and kalbi short rib. The meat was very tender and loved all the sides, my favorite side was the cucumber kimchi. The service was ok but it was late so I'm assuming our waiter was tired, the food speaks for itself. She wasn't needed but never for anything I asked for. Overall, one of my favorite places for Korean.

This place is pretty good. It's a bit small, but it's cool to cook the food. You get a sort of stove in front of you, and I like the idea. The service is nice and food doesn't take too long. Good place overall.

I went here with a friend. I've driven past it so many times. Seeing it in the Michelin Guide, walking past it, I've had many opportunities to go here and somehow I have always ended up somewhere else. I am so shocked it took so long until I finally tried this amazing restaurant. It's on the Michelin guide for a reason. It's good. My friend and I both agreed it looked cozy and has an intimate air to it. I don't know if it was because this particular day I visited that it was freezing in Orlando but the restaurant was rather cold so plan to bring a jacket. We did not get Kbbq and neither did anyone else in the restaurant at the time. So our clothes were saved. I ordered a beef soondubu which was DELICIOUS. I loved every part of it. The quality of the beef was delicious as well. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it warmed me up perfectly. My friend ordered the one of the cold noodles which I NEED to get next time. I tried some and it was delicious as well. Seriously I loved almost everything I got from this place. I ordered fried dumplings (beef) and I wasn't a big fan of them but they were hot and crispy. Just personally not a fan. The server was nice and attentive. Seriously this place is a great spot to meet friends for a late night meal or a lunch date with friends. I need to come back again with a big group.

Came here for Bite 30. So much food! We were more than stuffed and we didn't even eat it all! Everything was interesting and delicious! We started with the beef and chive dumplings and the cabbage and mushroom dumplings, both really good. Every meal also comes with an array of about 10 bowls of Korean nibbles and refills are free! Next we had the certified angus wet aged which you cook on your little grill at your table, we also had the dolsot bibimbap. The angus was more flavorful. Each of these entrees also comes with a bowl of noodle soup. For dessert we went with the hotteok which was a cinnamony Korean pancake with ice cream that tasted like a churros, so yummy!! We also had the toasted rice ice cream and it was delightful, so light and tasty! They also have an orange blossom tea that was so good!! Definitely will be back!

I specifically came for the bite 30 menu and I'm glad I did. You get so much food for the 35$. We were given an assortment of kimchi sides to start. The dumpling appetizers were beef and chive and amazingness. They were meaty and juicy. The bibimbap was amazing. The rice was crispy on the bottom and not burnt! The flavors were great and it came with gochujang to add if you want yours spicy! The dessert was hands down my favorite! It was a soft serve ice cream that was rice wine flavored! I never had a flavor like that and the texture was more icy than creamy but it was perfect. If I had to suggest any improvement with our service it would be the waiter seemed to be green. He kept forgetting things like refills, bringing the wrong thing we didn't order, (brought the wrong dessert, asked for no mushrooms and still got them, etc). The ice cream took a while because the machine needed to be charged. Otherwise he was super fun and friendly though! I want to go again and pick a different selection of

Clean, small, modern traditional vibe. It's a gray paint on the outside makes it almost invisible to me. Kimchi pajang was burnt and the Goon Mandu apparently wasn't fried in sesame seed oil according into my Korean mom. She told me that she used to eat here often before the fire. The server/hostess was very nice, she could have used some extra help for when the restaurant got busy.

One of the most authentic Korean restaurants in Orlando, Shin Jung is also recognized on the Michelin Guide. It's a small unassuming restaurant on East Colonial. But as soon as you walk in you can tell that you'll be in for a treat. I mean you know it's legit when they have the metal spoon and chopstick set. The space is warm and welcoming and everything is meticulously clean and organized. Even the bathroom is well maintained. We came mid-afternoon on a weekday and were greeted and seated immediately. Their menu has a wide variety of options, not just bbq. But the fact that they offer other traditional Korean dishes you can't really find anywhere else is what personally drew me to visit in the first place. Since we wanted to try lots of things, in addition to an order of bulgogi, we got the haemul pajeon, tteokbokki, and mulnaengmyeon. Plus the hotteok for dessert. The bulgogi order came with a serving of rice and salad and a ton of banchan. Again, you can tell it's legit just from the banchan they gave, cucumber and radish kimchi in addition to the cabbage kimchi, plus pickled radish and mashed potato. All the food tasted great, I especially liked the pajeon. The hotteok, interestingly served with ice cream, was amazing and took me back to the streets of Myeongdong. The service here was spectacular, our waitress took the time to introduce all the banchan and answered our questions thoroughly. I look forward to coming back and trying more items from their menu.

Honestly, Shin Jung is surprisingly not busy for a Michelin Star restaurant! My table of 6 was seated pretty immediately and the servers were amazing. Literally so friendly and so attentive. The barbecue part of the meal was alright. The meat was good quality, but it's quite expensive for the amount you get. And I wish they had smoke vents because all of it was just blowing in our faces the whole time. They're also not able to take the grills out so when we were done grilling, it continued to just sit there smoking in front of us. The tofu stews and udon were really yummy though. I like how the udon still comes with rice, despite already coming with the noodles. The broths were really flavorful and they don't skimp on the seafood!

First time back since their huge renovation. We didn't do the bbq. Started with vegetable dumpling and opt'd for kalbitang. The broth was flavorful. Kalbi soo good it falls right off the bone. Delicious!!! I do miss the old staff. It's much brighter than it use to be. It's missing the old Shin Jung vibe. Probably visit again to try their bbq.

This used to be the quintessential Korean bbq place. Now it's all brightly lit and the food is yuppy Korean bbq. I asked for mushrooms to cook the Korean bbq way, and the waiter brought out a tray of sliced mushrooms. I'm not even sure he could spell Korea. It's very disappointing, I purposely went here instead of the commercial Korean bbqs and was sadly disappointed. It used to be so consistent and authentic.

I don't know what the normal rate for Korean barbecues are but for our meal I paid 165 just for the barbecue portion. We also got the crab Rangoon and a bunch of delicious sides. I want to see the crab Rangoon alone is the best that I've ever had hands-down it wasn't greasy tasting. It was very light delicious a great filling. The best part of the Korean barbecue to be was the beef. It literally tasted amazing the flavor, the tenderness, hands-down, the best that I've ever had second was the pork and the chicken was good as well loved the kimchi and the pickled radishes, the service was amazing. Our waitress explained the menu and helped us with some good selections the whole vibe/ambience was very nice and laid-back all in all very good and I would return. I thought it was a bit pricey, but if you're splitting it with people who have money ( unlike my kids) then it's a pretty good deal

The food was excellent service was phenomenal, the place its very clean and very friendly the staff was so nice and gave us recommendations even a customer in the parking lot who was leaving gave us really good recommendations for the place.

A group of 4 of us came here last weekend and had a great experience! No reservations, but that wasn't an issue when we got there as it was later than the typical dinner rush. If I remember correctly, we ordered the pork belly, seafood platter, assorted veggies, japchae noodles, and beef bulgogi. Definitely more than enough, but we loved getting to try all the different dishes. A little brighter in there than I would have liked for an evening, but that was fine. Service was great! Would definitely recommend!

After having incredible Korean food in San Francisco, I just had to beat the craving for more. We ordered the Bimbimbap and Tofu Stew, both vegetarian. The Banchan dishes were some of the best I have ever eaten, we loved them. We shared everything but I really adored the Tofu Stew, it was rich, tasty and quite spicy. The Bimbimbap was very good and we ended up adding the Banchan and mixing it all together with a bit of the broth from the stew. Everyone around us seemed to be enjoying their BBQ but we were there for other dishes.

I think this is one of the best options in Orlando for Korean food, not just BBQ. I really enjoyed the side dishes (kimchi, etc) as well as the apps and the main dishes. Because it was cold, we went for soups and stews rather than BBQ. It was really good, full of flavor, textures, good ingredients, just an overall good array of foods and quality. I definitively would go back to try more stuff. And please remember, this is a grill zone, so you will end up smelling like food.

I have never had such quality meat cuts in all my days eating kbbq. Although expensive, the meats are absolutely delicious & they offer to cook the meat in the back if you don't want to do it yourself. If you do choose to cook it yourself the restaurant is well ventilated & you don't feel too sweaty while cooking. The dipping sauces & bon Chan are superior to others I've had. & they do not charge extra for left overs which is amazing! Also the combos are sized accordingly, they state it's for 5 people & they aren't lying even 4 high protein consuming gym rats couldn't eat it all

I frequently Shin Jung. Today I stopped my for lunch with my son. We got there at 1130 when they opened. We were seated immediately. I wanted the Galbi tang but they didn't have any. So I got the dumpling rice cake soup and my son for the pork bulgogi. They do not have lunch menus. Just regular. Our entrees came with sides. I love their fish cakes. It's different from everywhere else. Has cabbage in it and flavored differently. I was able to get some togo with my leftovers. My son and I both enjoyed our meals. Service was awesome.

Great spot it's a cook it yourself but if you're not a great cook you can ask and someone will help you. Don't sleep on this spot in mills.

Damn. Was really awesome. Server Khanh was very kind. Bibimbap. Was amazing. Wife is vegetarian. With the tofu and kimchi options we were very happy. Son had spiced squid dish. Amazing.

I've been going to Shin Jung for years one thing that has always remained the same is the food! We are always welcomed by a friendly host and our servers have always been attentive and friendly! There is also nice patio seating. The restaurant is very cozy and nicely decorated. I love the banchan. The tteokbokki is delicious and had a generous amount of meat in it! The pork was seasoned perfectly and cooked to perfection! The dol-sot bimbimbop is one of my go to favorites! If you are looking for an amazing Korean Restaurant Shin Jung is a Solid choice!

I now have a new favorite KBBQ restaurant. I had only known the king of Orlando KBBQ for a long time, and I thought it was amazing, no reason to branch out. But then this place dropped a bomb with an amazing Bite 30 menu this year, and THEN they got mentioned in the inaugural Orlando Michelin guide. Hype, hype, hype. So, being one of the top menus, I had to check it out. Here we go. Apps: Goon Mandu (your choice of beef handmade beef and chive dumplings or savory cabbage and mushroom dumplings). Super crispy, not oily, and there were four of them. Packed to the brim with beef. Very delicious and appreciated. Teokbokki (Korean rice cakes simmered in a sweet and spicy sauce with bulgogi onions and fishcake). I had not had this before. Soft gnocchi-like rice dumplings just soaking in an amazing sauce (save the sauce for the rest of the meal). A little sprinkling of bulgogi meat on top, very nice app. Mains: BBQ (your choice of pork or chicken to cook at the table). Of course. The reason we're all here. So much pork, and a thing of white rice, and six amazing banchan(s?), and a bunch of lettuce leaves to make wraps. I think the quality of the meat was better than the top KBBQ dog in Orlando. Tell me what you think, but this was fun and it was a lot of stuff for a discounted menu event. Much appreciated. Dolsot Bibimbap (a mix of zucchini, daikon, carrots, bean sprouts and shiitake mushrooms with beef bulgogi and a fried egg on top of a bed of rice in a sizzling hot stone pot). I am obsessed with bibimbap. And this was a good bibimbap. That rice on the bottom of the stone pot was extra crispy, and I was there for it. I find that bibimbap is so fresh and ingredient-forward that it lends itself very friendly to sauces. So save that dumpling sauce, save that teokbokki sauce, and utilize that spicy sauce that's on the table. Very fun. Baesuk (a honey poached pear stuffed with ginger cinnamon jujubes and pine nuts). This was a perfect example of a non-American not-too-sweet dessert. Fresh fruit with a slight sweetness and a great broth and awesome texture from the pine nuts. If you've never had a dessert like this, I recommend trying it. Hotteok (a Korean rice flour pancake filled with toasted nuts, cinnamon brown sugar, and brown butter). This was interesting, too. A fluffy, cinnamonty pancake with a blob of vanilla ice cream and some chocolate and caramel syrups to set it off nicely. I also ordered a separate Sikhye (a traditional sweet Korean rice beverage, in addition to its liquid it contains grains of cooked rice). This was nice. Almost like an horchata, but with rice at the bottom. Bizarre, for sure, but once I got used to it, it was lovely. Definitely get this instead of a boring soda. Overall, this was probably the most bang for my buck I have ever gotten at a Bite 30 restaurant. Quantity and quality wise. No telling how much profit they lost out on, but they gained a customer for life. Will be back. Will bring people will me to introduce them to this wonderful place.

I heard great things about Shin Jung and was excited about trying this Michelin Guide recognized restaurant. Wildly popular, they had a full house the night we came by. We ordered the Japchae (clear potato stir fried noodles) and seafood combo to barbecue. The eight accompaniments that were included were the star -- an excellent sampling of authentic Korean cuisine. Service was attentive, and this definitely was a great experience. We sat outside since the inside dining room was full, but glad we did since the grill would get smokey (the only small downside was the busy street ambiance, but not a big deal).

The La Kalbi is my favorite! It's so tender and seasoned perfectly! I also love their cucumber kimchee, nice and crunchy!

Excellent, quick, and friendly service. Food came out very quickly. Everything tasted so fresh and delicious. We got the appetizer sampler and the dumplings were homemade which we could definitely tell. My mom, husband, and I all got the marinated kalbi and requested it to be cooked. We didn't feel like cooking it ourselves. I love that this is an option. My dad got a spicy noodle seafood soup. The kalbi portion was so huge, in hindsight, we could have just ordered 1 order and split between the 3 of us. I apologize for not taking a picture! Love the new decor since rebuilding after the fire. I'm kicking myself for not getting back here sooner. Will definitely be back!

I haven't been back since they remodeled but it was a very good experience. Prices are a little expensive but it's worth it. We got the spicy seafood udon noodle and the spicy stir fried squid. Everything was delicious and service is good.

This place need to add hood ventilation system...It's very smoky inside the restaurant when the place is packed.

We were greeted by a friendly lady who took us under her wing and showed us the ropes. She gave us some suggestions. The meat was tender and seasoned well. We chose the steak and chicken, also ordered an additional steak (so good). The restaurant is super clean with a mixed of young and old and every creed. I loved that it showed Orlando at its best. The staff was friendly and kept checking in. Thanks to yelp for this gem. My daughter found this and I'm so happy she did.

Loved this whole experience! I have never been to a Korean BBQ. Host/server was very informative and helpful. Pork bulgogi and chicken served raw with cooking tongs. All small dishes accompanying the entree selection were picked veggies and Kim chi veggies. We will be back!!! So much more I would like to try on this menu!!!

Haven't been here in yeeeeaarsss (since before the fire), because I moved away and I was so happy to visit again for the first time. Service was easily the best i've had in a little while. Our server (Francis?) was so helpful, kind, and personable. He explained everything to my friend and I, made excellent recommendations, and just ensured an amazing dinner for us. The food was so flavorful, and the fresh sliced garlic and chili oil were amazing additions to our food. I'll definitely be coming to this KBBQ spot for my fix in the future.

This is my first time back in quite a while and I was excited to try the meat options since last time I just got a stew ! We ordered a seafood kimchi stew which was delicious and piping hot. Also has an egg which goes perfectly well For the meats we chose brisket, bulgogi, pork belly, tongue, and hangar steak. My top 2 were brisket and bulgogi but all the meat was such high quality. Even tho the brisket didn't look initially thin the way I like it, it was super tender and melted in my mouth. The bulgogi was also great-- not too sweet. The texture was a little less tender than I'm used to from beef bulgogi but I still loved it. Our server was very kind and answered all the questions we had about the food and the vibes of the place were exactly what I was looking for on a night out. The only thing is there's not an AYCE option and the meat is quite expensive, so keep that in mind. Butttt you're paying for the quality so for a special night I definitely recommend !

There is no reservation system, but luckily we had a very short wait on a Friday night. All I can say is: So. Much. Food. We ordered combo c which had beef and pork bulgogi, spicy chicken, short rib and seafood (calamari filet, shrimp, scallop). It came with rice, salad, SJ Sampler, dolsat and all the "fixins." Everything was delicious especially the beef bulgogi and short rib. It was definitely worth smelling like k-bbq all night.

I've been here a few years ago and now am just coming back after they rebuilt the restaurant again after a tragic fire. It's nice inside but we decided to sit outside on the patio because I know the food smell will stay on my clothes for a while haha. They had a cute background which is good for photo ops if no one is sitting in front of it. The food is better than ever! I had the fried squid which was marked two chili symbols of it being spicy. I guess I have a high spicy tolerance because to me, it was mild. It was delicious though. Our server Tim was very helpful in suggesting drinks and entrees for us. He was very attentive as well. Same great place. It's like they didn't skip a beat with their food and service

A great place for KBBQ! The meat was high quality and super flavorful & our server was really funny & sweet! It's cute inside, not too big. Definitely try the rice punch too for something sweet!

This restaurant is a hidden gem. It's very easy to drive past because it is off of a very busy area off 50. My server was Dante, and he was amazing. I have quite a few food, allergies, and he was knowledgeable about the entire menu, and as far as what I could, and couldn't eat. If he had any question at all, he would ask to make sure it was safe. That is something I am always gracious for beyond words, because there are quite a few restaurants where servers don't even know what gluten is, and they think eggs fall under the dairy category lol. The food was absolutely incredible. My favorite meat was the beef brisket. It's very high-quality and flavorful. All the sides that came out were delicious as well. I especially loved the radish kimchi and the dressing on the side salad. I usually don't have the pleasure of enjoying many of the sides, as a lot of other restaurants don't use gluten-free soy sauce. I highly recommend, and this is now my new favorite Korean barbecue restaurant.

This place has been here for ages and I never noticed it until my cousin recommended it. It's a tiny, unassuming place on 50. Blink and you'll pass it. But they stay busy! There was a line out the door and a 1/2 hr wait when we went. We got pork belly, kalbi and vegetables.The food was delicious and flavorful and the service was great. We will be back for sure.

We got their seafood chigae for take out and it was pretty decent so we went back to try a sit-down meal. We went on a weekday when they had a special on tteokboki (30% off). We got that, seafood pajun, and beef bulgogi. Everything was very tasty, generous amount of seafood in the pajun and beef bulgogi was flavored well. Ban chan were all good.

They used to be good, but now they instruct you to grill on LOW HEAT. What an absolute joke! If you like tough grey meat because you are told you are only allowed to cook on low heat, then come here!

Newly renovated shin jung is much more open and lit no complaint. Husband & I went for lunch to check out what changes shin jung has made since they renovated. We haven't been to shin jung in years because parking is limited, space inside for dining is small and cluster however the inside looks very nice! Updated and modern! For lunch, our bill was 68$ NOT including tip. That's kinda pricey for lunch. There was no lunch menus, it is dinner menus all day long. Which can be a drawback for the place because most people don't want to spend that much for lunch or have dinner portions during lunch. Unless it's a family day off or something like that. For our food, I would have given shin jung 6 stars for their food! Everything is very delish and up to par. One of the BEST place to have Korean food because it's very good and again, no complaints. Our biggest complaint however was when we asked for some lettuce and that is an up charge. For real? Who eats Korean food without lettuce? Lettuce is considered a staple when eating Korean food, it should be part of the extra they bring out. For 68$ we couldn't even get a couple of lettuce leafs? So 2 cons. Minus 1 star No lunch menus for quick eats And up charge for lettuce when people are paying close to 70$ on lunch for TWO not including tips

If you have done KBBQ yet, head to Shin Jung immediately! We had such a great time splitting up appetizers, the combo of all the meats and great service! We had some chefs at our table so our dinner was great. We got a table on a Friday night for 6 of us promptly, which we appreciate with how hungry we were. Overall, a great experience and I'll definitely be back!

(12/8/2022) we came to celebrate a birthday, birthday boy wanted KBBQ. Since the fire, the place was remodeled, and is shiny industrial chic. It was pretty full for 8:00 pm on a weeknight. Menu is straight up Korean, even with the English explanation I did still need to explain the dishes to those not as familiar. Our server was efficient and straightforward, kind of like being served by your fussy auntie. She laid the banchan in a specific order around the table, and if we moved them, she moved them back. She gave us strict instruction for the order the meats from the sampler platter were to be cooked so that we didn't create too much smoke (FYI, no over-table ventilation here). Love the chewy, spicy, saucy tteokbokki, bar food classic. It was pricy, but so much food and so delicious.

Came to check this place out after seeing the Michelin Guide recommended list. Was craving kbbq, and would have liked more combo options for parties smaller than 5 (they also have combos for 7). A la carte, the meat items are on the pricier side and coming with a smaller party limits how much variety you can get--a sampler platter with smaller servings of multiple meats would be excellent! Instead we opted for the beef brisket and LA short ribs. I really liked the ribs which were very tender and would probably switch out the brisket for something like pork belly--brisket just cooks to fast and dries out easily. This is a cook on your own place, which can get hairy since they don't have vents above the grills--they recommend keeping the grill on low setting because of this. Great banchan selection but we ran low quickly and had to wait a bit for refills. My favorites were the potato salad, radish slices, and radish kimchi. They also provide lettuce to use for wraps. They provide several dipping sauces which were fine but could probably use a little more punch (also known as acidity and salt flavors) Overall, a solid pick and although I can see how it earned its spot on the recommended list, I'm not sure it stands out so much from other korean spots around town to earn a distinction. Maybe it's just a matter of coming back and trying more things, like the bibimbap which was specifically mentioned by Michelin.

Authentic Korean cuisine! Came here on a busy Saturday with my wife and sister. We were seated within 15 minutes. Excellent experience and delicious cuisine! Our server was Alex and she did an amazing job servicing us! We ordered a bunch of things including the Kalbi Short rib, bulgogi beef and the rice cake pasta (long name).. you get a bunch of sides and get to cook everything yourself! Very very nice spot and definitely enjoyed it!

Okay. Listen. My husband and I were debating on food on Saturday night and were trying to get into Domu. They were packed. Ended up at Shin Jung where they told us that it would be a 45 minute wait, ended up being like 10 minutes. Our server was SO nice and the food was incredible to the point that my husband kept saying 'this was the right choice.' If you're wondering whether you should go or not, GO.
