We stayed here in May for our daughter's Law School graduation from USC. She lives locally so we were pleased to stay at such a cute boutique hotel. Room was perfect, well kept by the maid service we had (envelope in room said Anna, although we never met here, the room was extremely clean) Bed very comfortable, grounds exactly as pictured, no smoke and mirrors here! Check in was simple and they knew we were in for our daughter graduation so the next day we had a congratulatory card, balloon, fresh baked cookies (what a surprise and very sweet) Spent a lot of time at bar/restaurant and the people were so welcoming. Bartender Jeremy and server Kat made the experience perfect. Chef made some amazing tidbits. LOVE their bread, Broccolini with lemon and toasted breadcrumbs just to name a few. Right across from the framers market and an iconic breakfast spot DuPars (fabulous). next to farmers market is the Grove also an Iconic spot. Great experience throughout. Will definitely stay here when we visit our daughter in the future.

I went here with my daughter & Sister and instantly felt in love with the place. The aura, the vibe the atmosphere made you feel as if you knew everyone in there. It’s been a very long time since I’ve had a girls night and short stories was the best place to have got to. The bartender Johnathan was the absolute best. Drinks were so good and he was very tentative to our needs. I will definitely visit again. Jonathan be ready!

I recently tried the fried chicken sandwich on the new brunch menu, and let me tell you, it was phenomenal. The chicken was perfectly crispy, the biscuit fluffy and buttery, but what really made it unforgettable was the house-made pickles. They added this amazing tanginess that just elevated the whole sandwich. It's definitely a must-try if you’re in the area, or worth the trip if you aren’t!

Came here for the first time this past weekend and wasn't disappointed. Excellent vibes and even better service. Johnathan our bar tender made some amazing Margaritas and really awesome to chat with. Top notch espresso martinis! To make a short story short! I'd def be back for the music the vibes and the delicious cocktails

I recently visited Short Shorties and had an incredible experience! The atmosphere was absolutely perfect—cozy yet vibrant, with just the right mix of music and lighting to set the mood. I was able to sit outside with my dog. The drink menu is fantastic, offering a wide variety of craft cocktails, local brews, and fine spirits. The bartenders really know their stuff, crafting each drink with care and creativity. The service was top-notch as well. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. I especially appreciated their recommendations, which were spot on! Whether you’re looking for a place to unwind after a long day or to start a night out, Short Shorties is the place to be. I can’t wait to go back!

We had a really fantastic meal. The cocktails were excellent as was the Caesar salad, beef tartare and we shared the chicken schnitzel. Loved the atmosphere (even though it was a bit quiet).

The long story short, Sunday brunch experience was great. The food was very tasty. Especially pancakes and chicken sandwich. And of course espresso martini was done right- delicious with 3 beans on top. We will be back!

I've recently stumbled upon this gem of a place and have not stop going since. The staff make you feel welcomed and at home. The drinks don't disappoint and the vibes are fun.

I randomly stumbled upon this bar and I'm so happy that I did! A friend and I was taking a leisurely walk towards Washington square park and passed this restaurant. Something about it intrigued me. While walking in, we were greeted by the amazing hostess who gave us the option of sitting inside or outside. Due to it being a beautiful day, we chose outside and was able to take in the restaurant as well as the bustle of New York City. While I can't comment on the food since we did not eat, the drinks at this place were delicious. I chose the lychee martini and was pleasantly surprised on how delicious it was. What got me about this place was the amazing conversations I had with the staff, the scenery and the drinks. If I had not eaten before, I would have loved to try their smash burger on the menu. The prices at the restaurant were great in my opinion and you won't break the bank. I highly recommend!

I spent a day cocktail-crawling across the east village and lower east side. I basically made my way down the street, looking for interesting-looking spots, then going inside to see if I found any adventure. So when I saw the darkened entrance for "Short Stories," I thought why not see what's inside? I get the impression this place is undergoing a rebrand. The couple next to me seemed terribly disappointed with the offerings (it seems maybe they are changing the type/amount of food they offer from full service to small bites?). I wasn't worried about that . . . I was here for the cocktails. I started with the Kensington (botanist gin, mint, cucumber, tonic, lemon), the heart to heart (Bette vodka, monkey 47 gin, blood orange, mint, and tonic), as well as the Noho (del maguey vida mezcal, cyan, sweet vermouth). None of the drinks were particularly memorable. I also wanted a quick snack, but they didn't have the fries available . . . I got the cauliflower, which I found overly sweet, with the outer coating falling off. The main reason this spot gets knocked down to three stars is toward the end of my stay, I waited a very, very, very long time for my last drink. I actually had to get someone passing by to tell them I still hadn't received it. I'm pretty sure they forgot about me, as the bartender was quite busy with a group of young girls, snapping photos and having a great time. Don't get me wrong . . . I'm not hard to please. The bartender was nice enough. You can see that most of my reviews are generous, almost always five stars, sometimes four. I don't do three or below often. I don't need a lot of attention. I don't need someone entertaining me. But please don't forget my drink and please don't forget that I exist completely. Would not return.

This place was delicious. Came here with a very big party (20 people). They easily accommodated all of us (reserved in advance). The food was shared family style, we got a lot of different dishes and everything was delicious. The service was fantastic. We stayed for the music at 10:30, but the music wasn't quite working for us so we left, but that's not on the venue. Just looking for a different style of music. The space to dance itself is perfect

I came here last night for a friends birthday party, there was about 15 of us. The place accommodated us and the host was very welcoming and the staff was attentive and friendly . They do family style meals for large parties. We had the burrata, octopus, sliders , and crab cakes. The food was delicious my favorite was the octopus it was very well seasoned and I loved the sauce . The drinks are also very strong and tasty, they have an array of interesting cocktails as well as standard wine and beer. I recommend the blue drink it's basically a pisco sour with a bit of a sweet touch to it . For dessert we had homemade strawberry cheesecake which was absolutely delicious. The place turns into a club after 10:30 . They play top 100 music but it's not my scene as far the dancing goes . It gets very crowded and is small but they do allow you to do a private party and close off a section of the dance floor if you pay extra ! Def worth it for food and drinks though !

I passed by this spot on Bowery on a Friday night. It had a lovely decor but was quiet. It seemed like they may have just opened for the night, and we were the first customers. The decor and the variety of liquor on display attracted me because I'm always looking for a good cocktail bar. Short Stories definitely didn't disappoint. I ordered my signature cocktail a Boulevardier, and our bartender Miguel made us a mighty fine drink. He also made a mocktail for my friend who doesn't drink alcohol. I can't wait to come back. Miguel also said they have a DJ on Saturdays so I'll definitely check them out then.

This spot is totally not what I expected to walk into. Came to visit my amazing mixologist friend, Edward, who is the bar manager and bartender under their new management, and was blown away at the cute ambiance and lounge vibes. The cocktails are A1 and the food, though maybe a little pricey, was DELICIOUS- that beef tartare is next level, I would eat everything on this menu. Food is served til 10pm every night, even on weekends when they have a DJ. Theyre going to bring back some daily drink specials from 5p-7pm so stay tuned. Great job!

The food was actually amazing! I had the lobster pasta, burger, fried burrata, octopus, beef tartare, and chicken schnitzel. I would def recommend everything except the chicken schnitzel, it was way too salty! But service was great and the ambiance was nice .

Went here for the first time last night and was blown away. They've found a way to make such simple food just so delicious. I think I can say their spicy feta cheese dip that came out with an appetizer was the best dip I've ever had. And their buffalo chicken sandwich was just phenomenal. You should really check this place out.

My roommate and I went to Short Stories for a happy hour service and we were blown away by the service and the food! They seated us right away and our order was served quickly, piping hot, and perfectly fresh. We've been to many happy hours throughout the city, but we were really not expecting the bar to be set this high by the drinks and food we were served. The french fries were nicely crisp, seasoned, and we could taste that the oil itself was fresh (this makes a difference to us). We had them with the avocado ranch that was the perfect compliment to the mild saltiness of the fries. We also got the lumpia that were crunchy on the outside, but filled with nicely seasoned, juicy beef on the inside. I had a pineapple daiquiri to start with, which was also perfectly balanced in terms of tartness and sweetness, with a mild, but pleasant spiciness. But the two items that really stood out to us and alone are reasons for us to come back: the crab croquettes and the turkish espresso martinis. The croquettes were crisp on the outside and topped off with a decadent and rich saffron cream. The inside was fluffy and moist, and the crab was FRESH. We're so glad we got an order each, because it was without exaggeration that good! The espresso martinis were smooth and brilliantly balanced, and honestly much better in quality than many places I've tried this at. The martinis also delivered a pleasant buzz after two drinks.

Outdoor seating , good drinks , yummy food, cute atmosphere Adorable little place for a night out with friends or a date. Lots of cool drinks! I had the James and the Giant Peach & loved it. I would recommend this place for drinks and appetizers. The dinner menu is pricy with a small selection. The burrata was delicious, good for one person. Everyone in my group had that as an entree and we shared fries and a charcuterie board. Would definitely return!

Food is absolutely amazing. Service here is so friendly. Ambiance has a Miami vibe to it tonight, so loving it. I definitely will be back again. Xoxoxo

Fun spot for drinks with wild music, a fun bartending staff, and unique drinks. It's a tight spot. There's seating with 5 tables and a large back area for birthday reservations. Fun bar with good vibes.

This is the perfect place for a cute little pregame before a night out in the city. Got their strawberry margaritas and boy they were STRONG but super tasty.

I really wanted to like Short Stories but most of the dishes fell flat for me! My friends and I shared everything so here is my take on all of our dishes. Bread Basket: the coffee cake is pretty good, ube muffins are a little under baked, sweet cheese croissant was good, szechuan scones were a little much for my taste Extremely online pancakes: honestly the only thing that was worth ordering! Cheesy naan: very bland and the naan was very hard Curry poached eggs: the curry flavor is incredibly overpowering For drinks I tried to order the pear cocktail but they were out of pear syrup so it was subbed with rose. I liked it at first but over time it became a bit medicinal for my taste! tl;dr: this place is very cute and but I would skip eating here. Maybe just come for happy hour!

When we left Short Stories last Saturday night, I was dead set on giving them a five star review, however I'm unfortunately taking away a star because we were charged for an item we didn't even order! I tried calling the restaurant to see if we can rectify the situation, but the line is always busy, so sadly you won't be getting five stars from me. We were HUNGRY when we arrived, so we ordered way too much food, which was all unbelievably delicious! The French fries full of flavor and very crispy, and accompanied with a fantastic red pepper dipping sauce. I will argue that the pesto pasta is the best pesto I've ever had, and possibly the best pesto pasta in the city! The chicken was tender, full of flavor, and on the side delicious buckwheat and yogurt dressing. My roomie had a Virgin Watermelon Mojito and I had a regular Watermelon Mojito. A little strong for my taste, but the other flavors made it a very refreshing drink. We ended our meal with chocolate pudding that was so rich and chocolaty! Our waitress was a delight, and I'm very impressed with their outdoor seating area, as well as how seriously the staff took Covid-19 hygiene. When I got home and looked at our receipt, I noticed that we were charged for the white chocolate tart, which we did not have (although I'm sure it's also fantastic). I've tried calling the restaurant, but have had no luck getting through, and I do not like that I paid for something I didn't eat. Thus I cannot give a five star review. Definitely an excellent place to eat dinner, the food is phenomenal and Short Stories takes their Covid-19 preventions very seriously.

I need to come back here and eat but such a fun late night spot. love the strawberry marg and Turkish espresso martini. Always a fun time!

This is a new bar that just opened up on a great lively stretch of Bowery. They also happen to have a full menu of some great food that is definitely worth stopping in to try even if you don't drink. They just opened tonight and I stopped in to try a couple things. Start with the Guacamole ($10), which comes with Duros, these really great wheat flour crackers I've never actually seen in a restaurant before but always see all over Queens in huge bags hanging off street vendor carts. I also had the Story Burger ($18), Impossible style, which was really excellent and comes with perfectly crispy fries, and the Tlayuda ($18), a really great take on a Oaxacan style "pizza". I'll definitely be back to try the rest of the food and the brunch menu too.

Not gonna lie, bomb ass scallops. Staff was on point. Try the bread. High level. Very pleased overall with my total experience. It's my third time going so I didn't want to write a review till I was extra happy. Hope you enjoy this place as much as I did.

Came here for brunch The corn croquette with sweet potato is something interesting not your typical brunch menu which I enjoyed a lot! Would come back for it again. House bloody marry with mezcal was really good. Other cocktail falls on the light side. Cute spot!

Visited short stories recently, and it was amazing. They are under new ownership so the current rating on here does not reflect the quality of food, drink, and service available. The cocktails were amazing and the chef's preparations are Michelin caliber. On weekends sometimes they'll take the tables away after dinners and have great DJs play. What a cool spot will be back

I debated writing a review because of the circumstances that are placed on restaurants due to Covid-19, however, a few days later and I still cannot fathom how awful our service was. The drinks and food we ordered were fine, but due to the service I will not be returning. It was not a busy time with only about 20% of their tables occupied while I was there. With that being said, it took our server having to come over and ask for our drink order twice to remember that we already ordered and get us our first round of drinks 25 minutes after we had been sitting at the table. When we did receive the drinks, the server brought out the wrong drink for my friend and when we said something she walked away and didn't come back until 15 minutes later to take our food order. At this point, my friend mentioned again that she brought her the wrong drink, to which the server rolled her eyes and passive aggressively took back the wrong drink (that we hadn't touched) to bring her the right one 10 minutes later. After the drinks fiasco, we had simply ordered a pancake to split because we had already been there almost an hour and at that point, wanted to leave. The server messed up our simple food order and was again visibly annoyed when we told her it was wrong. She then ignored our table the rest of the time until we were finally able to get her attention for the check. All in all, we spent 1.5 hours at this restaurant for 2 drinks and a pancake because the service was so horrendous and quite frankly, rude. On top of everything, when we received our check, the server had told us she comp'd the drink (that we didn't order in the first place) on the house, as if she was doing us a favor. The pancake and drinks were great, but I refuse to return because of the service.

Went there for a friends birthday dinner. Service was great and they helped us celebrate her birthday. I had the Veal Sweetbreads to start and the Cavatelli for an Entree. Both were delicious. The Cavatelli had tremendous flavor and the lobster was very fresh. I highly recommend this restaurant !

If you were trying to find a terrible place that's nothing more than an instagram trap COME HERE! awful staff drinks are different round to round lol. better service and drinks at dive bars in the midwest. one thing to know: if you're black, brown, or anything other than lily white AVOID THE WEEKEND. the bouncers told us the owners told them how many people of color to let in and a group got in right before us. this is after we were there earlier that night!! weird af. two stars bc one of the only places that plays rap

Had my birthday here, it was a moment. Staff was incredibly warm, generous and kind. Cocktails were A1. Strong recommendation. On any given night it goes up. 5 stars. 5 stars.

Super cute brunch place with pink outdoor seating! My favorite definitely had to be the pancakes, they were super fluffy. The curry was pretty good as well, very flavorful. The bread bowl was alright, the best was definitely the sesame coffee cake.

Booked it to celebrate a birthday. Their drinks and service were good but they need to change their DJ.

Short Stories is everything I want in a restaurant. They have vegan/vegetarian options but also food with meat to keep everyone happy. The dishes are unique and different. There are so many I want to try. The decor is on point with pastels, great lighting, and a hint of the tropics and there was good music playing. We had the Impossible Burger which if you haven't tried you must! (It's as delicious as a Whopper only no animals died). Fries were McDonalds-esque but have some spices on them (if you hate spice ask for them sans spice) and a delicious aioli. Now I'm making it sound like a fast food restaurant but it is not at all (see pictures of the menu). There are many healthy options here as well that I am eager to try next time.

Had friends in from out of town and they asked if there was any new "spots"??? My first thought was Short Stories. Happy we stopped here. Everything was great. Also best CHURRO ever!!!

Skip it/ crowded crappy place. To small to accommodate a huge crowd. Drinks are a waste although bartenders are nice. Fire hazard waiting to happen. Lots of better places out there. Skip this one! Sorry Albee but when you make a Contract /check the audience and the authority. You can't just risk people's lives for money.

Extremely unprofessional staff. I was attempting to enter the bar last Friday night when I was angrily yelled at by a tall man (I assume the bouncer). He yelled "Get off my property!!" in reference to the public sidewalk. I think he thought I was in line for a bar down the street but was actually trying to enter Short Stories. First of all the sidewalk is public property and second if this man was actually the owner of this establishment, he for sure wouldn't have been out there checking people in. Honestly just reeked of someone who just wants power because he doesn't have control of anything else in his life. I heard him tell someone "stay safe tonight" in an aggressive tone. What kind of person on shift openly threatens someone in front of the establishment in uniform? To whomever the business owner actually is, I recommend getting a new bouncer because this just made me want to go somewhere else.

I understand that COVID has severely affected many of these businesses but the service here is just terrible and rude. Let's get down to the deetz: Ambience: This is actually why my friends and I chose this place, it was extremely cute. Their outdoor seating was painted completely pink and there are fresh flowers at the table. I love the music that was playing, this place definitely looked fresh and fun. Good job for the charming vibe while being in such a dreary time (covid). Service: This is where the good news stops and the rest goes downhill. The service here is definitely a roller coaster. Some of the staff here are hospitable and sweet, and some are not. I think COVID has left this business extremely understaffed, but also our waiter was rude and passive aggressive. (not a good combo) We definitely did not feel accommodated many times during the meal. Our food came out late, and after one of my friends ordered another drink that came out extremely late as well. After a disappointing meal, we were rushed out even though my friend had not finished the second drink she had ordered. Our server rudely brought out our check and stood there. (Are you a server or security in the front of Walmart??) I found this extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. I'm not sure what they were insinuating but it definitely left a bad taste in our mouths, if the food didn't do that for us already. Food: There is definitely nothing to write home about here with the food, also I am going to repeat every dish came out late. The roasted carrot salad was boring, excessively oily, and flavorless. I thought I was eating hospital food. The brioche bun on my burger was dry and stale. Also I had ordered the burger medium well and I received something in between medium rare and a rare burger, this was late as well. Were they even listening to my order?? There is a huge difference between medium well and whatever I had received. Dying of starvation I just couldn't bother dealing with our catty server's attitude to correct the order and ate my mushy raw burger. To be honest the only redeeming quality at this restaurant was the cute pink outdoor seating. Everything else was a steep cliff dive from that point on.

Had such an incredible night! The staff was so friendly! The service was immaculate. The food? *chefs kiss* Ash, the owner was so sweet. Came to our table to ask about our night. Couldn't ask for more. I'd rate this place 8 Michelin stars

Very friendly service and I love the pink decor. Great music, food, and vibe. We had to wait fairly long for our initial food and drink orders however everything came out great.

Drinks were not good. I tried the James and The Giant Peach first and it was disgusting. Tasted like rubbing alcohol and the peach ring it was garnished with was so hard and chewy it was inedible. I literally took two sips and sent it back BUT I WAS STILL CHARGED FOR IT. Ridiculous. Then I tried the Watermelon Great Expectations which was just ok. My friend got the Moby Dick and liked it, but it was nothing special in my opinion. Overall, drinks were pretty gross and it ended up costing us $60+ for 3 drinks, one of which I took two sips of and sent back, expressing to the server that I was dissatisfied with it. Will not be returning, and would love my money back lol.

they ostensibly hosted a "Pride party", sponsored by Maison Kitsune. by the time it started, it was packed with straight woman, the sponsor was giving out nothing, and no actual LGBTQ people were allowed in without paying for a reserved table. happy...Pride? this place sucks.

Came here on a Saturday night for post dinner drinks. Unfortunately we were seated on an area with broken glass underneath. We ordered few IPAs from the menu in which most were out. Settled for baby beers at $5 for a bottle. Didn't realise a baby beer size was really small until it was served. Also ordered a tart from their dessert menu - it was served frozen, took awhile for me to get through it. Decided to call it a night and headed home after one round of drinks.

Came here with a bunch of good buddies for a Saturday brunch the other week and had a blast. Started with oysters which were delicious and a couple other appetizers, all came out quick with great service and presentation. For entre had the Pastrami Salmon/Avocado Toast, also really good. The pink strawberry margaritas were strong as hell and festive, matching the pink decor. Staff was super sweet and welcoming. Someone at the table ordered the Venus of Furs, a pink cocktail drink fountain that was...words cannot describe. Also, shark shaped disco ball...that's all. Sick spot!

This place is small but really great. Aesthetically it's super cute. And if you come during an off time (we came at 4pm on a Saturday) the place is empty and you can enjoy yourself without it being crowded. We just came for bevis, and tried one of the cocktails and the flavored vodka sodas. The watermelon and basil and sweet cucumber varieties tasted like summer in a glass. The cocktail, which was whisky-based was well balanced too. We'll be back to try the food and probably definitely for brunch. I also like that the food will be rotating based on the chef/concept. It'll keep you coming back!

Jam Jar Wines hosted the Zodiac Cocktails event here. The space is small and seems like an after hours bars for some unwinding before heading to the next spot. I did not sample any food made there but the staff was really nice. They really maximized several areas to make the space more intimate and fun. If I ever decide to rent out a space I will definitely keep this place in mind.

Came here on a work date and was pleasantly surprised. They had a pretty good happy hour until 7pm and I got the happy hour cocktail (which was one of the cocktails on their normal menu). It had mezcal and mango and was strong, but not too strong to drink. Also got the burger and fries. Was so impressed by the burger, the sauce on it was so flavorful and really made it. The fries were extra crispy, thin, and had a really delicious seasoning and sauce on the side. The girl I was with got the avocado salad which was small but looked good and was presented really beautifully. She also got the cauliflower which looked amazing and was a good portion size. Will definitely be back!

Smells like a New Orleans bar the morning after MardiGras. I sat at the counter and it smelt like puke. Not clean. It is a bar until 4am. I still choked down the food and got sick an hour later. Should have just left. DO NOT GO FOR BREAKFAST!

This might be the first review of a place that I am solely rating on how atrocious the patronage & music is. Well sort of, with the exception of some jagoff doing bar flair (pls stop) and almost hitting a patron with a rouge tin, all the other bartenders especially the gals are great and clearly having to deal with the full vibe. in short, I'd suggest never ordering a cocktail there, matter of fact don't order anything here and please avoid the "influencer culture" types. more importantly, it's excruciatingly loud and if you play a genre like "trap" it's maddening to be there for more than an hour seeing it feels like you're listening to the same song over and over and over and over and over and over. Methinks Not

I didn't even get to even try any of the food and I would not come back.We came understanding that covid has impacted businesses and things might take a little longer thus we were very patient about everything. However, we had a reservation for 2:30pm and we stopped by around 1:50pm first.We stood outside of the door of the restaurant and by the table that they have in front with the menu.We waited for a bit to see if anyone would come to check us in early if a table was available.No one did come and we see it is busy so we decide to go to a park area for a bit and came back closer to our reservation time.We came back around 2:20pm to the restaurant and stood there waiting for someone to check us in for our reservation.We started to realize that we're being ignored(mind you we were both wearing pink so it was almost painfully obvious that we were there on purpose because the whole aesthetic of the place is pink and we wanted some pictures).There was a group of girls(that were white) that came after us(didn't have a reservation) and they got seated immediately.But we were STILL standing there.It was literally until my friend had to physically get the woman's attention(who was seating and tending to everyone) in order for us to tell her we had a reservation for 2:30pm and finally got checked in. She gives us a menu to look at while we are standing there waiting.We finally got seated but we were seated in a terrible place by a bush with a lot of flies that kept flying into our faces and there were these high stools with no back support.Also, the seating location defeated the purpose of why we came because the place has a pink aesthetic with a pink fence and tables with pink umbrellas etc with chairs with back support.We see another table made for 2 people with back support was in the more pink area with no bush or really any flies by what we saw.The table was in a better area where it showed the whole pink aesthetic and would've been more comfortable for us but they had to clean the table.Even though I was already ready to leave, I agreed with my friend that if we can move seats then we will probably have a better time because we would be seated better.My friend requested if we can be moved to that table and we were told to just wait for it to be cleaned.We left the table we were at and stood by the outside of the restaurant again to wait.A group of white guys came(they did have a reservation but they came after us) and immediately a table was cleaned for them and shortly after they were seated.We were told to just go back and sit at the table with the flies to wait for the table we wanted to be cleaned off. So we waited again to see when we could be moved while sitting at this table with flies.We see other tables getting cleaned but still not that one.Anyways, the same woman came back to take our order and again my friend asks can we be moved to the other table.And at that moment that other table was cleaned and another customer was sat there by someone else(mind you when we asked one of the other workers about being moved to that table,we were told we have to ask the same woman we have been dealing with this whole time).Again, the woman customer who was seated at the table was a white woman.To go back to the dialogue my friend was having with the woman we have been dealing with this whole time.She responds that there is no communication or something and walks away from us instead of taking our orders or just trying to help us in anyway.I was basically done at this point because we were being treated like trash.My friend kindly explained the situation to the customer sitting at the table we were waiting for and she moved but I told my friend we should still go and that's when 2 women sitting at another table nearby told us we should leave(she heard me say that and it looks like she was warning us to not even bother).We decided to leave once and for all even though the customer did move from the table and was kind and understanding.On our way out we put back our menus and told the customer that we decided to leave and apologized about the confusion and told her she can have the table.She was really nice and understanding and just went back to sit and we left. Also, there was a black woman with a bike standing there in front waiting so long considering the fact that she was there since we came back at 2:20pm and she still wasn't attended to either and by now it's after 3.We are also black and we noticed a trend.So yes we decided to leave and to not spend our money here.Seeing the black woman with the bike being ignored too really confirmed it with us that it was on purpose we were being treated like this. I have no issues with the other white customers mentioned but their race was noted in this review because it is important to recognize the treatment they got and how they were prioritized and not ignored like us and the other black customer.

My friend and I wanted to try this place because it was so pretty and we saw a lot of good reviews for it, but when we actually went this past Saturday we had a terrible experience and will not be returning back to this restaurant. So, basically my friend and I made reservation for 2:30pm, but we actually got there earlier at 1:50pm. When we arrived none of the workers were paying us any mind, but we figured it was because it was too early so we left and came back at 2:25pm. When we came back I literally stood in front of the doorway so they could see us and know that we needed to be seated. As my friend and I stood in the way the employee still decided to tend to a group of white girls that was next to us and they got seated. That was the first straw because like why would you respond to those girls when I was literally right in front of you and was waving to get your attention. Anyways, after that she finally decided to respond to us, and she said that she would seat us within in a few minutes. That ended up taking over 15 minutes for them to do, mine you it's a small table not much to clean. Then finally the waiter tells us we can sit. When we looked over it was one of those high chair stools. I really don't like those types of seatings. I wanted a seat with back support and also it wasn't close enough get the whole aesthetic of the place in pictures. Which was our main point for coming to that restaurant. Also, we were right next to a bush that had a ton of flies. So, we asked to be moved to a seat that was not too far from where we were sitting, it had the back support, the aesthetic was more visible and there weren't as many flies. The waiter told us that if we wanted to be moved we would have to wait, so we waited. She asked us to go back to the seat that we were given until they clean the table that we wanted. This took another 15 minutes. They cleaned a table for another white man and his friends that came AFTER us and then they also cleaned two other tables before ours. At this point it's like 2:50 . Finally the waiter comes over to us to take our order and I was like "Can we move now that the table is clean?" She wanted to pretend like we didn't ask to move before. She was like "yeah, of course" so as we are about to get up this white girl sits down in the seat we wanted. At this point my friend and I were infuriated. So now the waiter goes "I don't know what's going on , no one is communicating!" then she walks away instead of trying to help us. Now my friend and I go up to the white girl on our own and we explain to her that we were supposed to be seated there and she was actually super nice about it and said she would switch with us. At this point, my friend and I were upset , fed up, hungry , tired, embarrassed , etc . So we started discussing if we should just leave or not, these two girls over heard us and they were like yess we should go ! I guess because they witnessed how bad we were being treated or the food wasn't that great. There was also another young black girl that was being ignored as well ! Long story short If you are black, don't go to Short Stories ! You only get treated like a human being if you're white or if your Black dressed up with some 6 in heels. If you look young and dressed casual they think you can't afford the restaurant or won't tip which is wild to me. NEVER AGAIN.

This is my get together spot , Short stories is the place to come with your girlfriends and have a good time. Short Stories , has great service. But also very clean place . The place is kind of dark as you walk in , I like it . Moving on to the food and the drinks , the prices are higher than other local places. But he food is worth it . Last time I came I got the seared prawns and lemonade and it was under 30 with tip included. In conclusion this place is cool and definitely worth stop by .
