Google
This place truly charmed me. The way they combined authentic ingredients in such simple yet interesting ways was just brilliant. We savored the famous spicy shrimp soup, the Mediterranean salad with smoked salmon and the chicken sandwich with an interesting name'Rufus stole the chickens too?". I loved down-to-earth backyard setting, and the exceptional service made me feel genuinely cared for.

Google
The menu is eclectic but the food is divine. The Mykonos salad and spicy shrimp soup were exceptionally well made. Simple yet so full of flavor.

Google
I went there for a late dinner as a visitor to Colorado Springs. The vibe, menu and staff were perfect. I got the all in one tray, which was a sampler of the greatest hits from the menu. It’s reasonably priced and perfect for anywhere between a quick bite to a longer dinner.

Was wonderful to come back here after covid with my dear friend. Our food was delicious (Thank you Chef's), our Waiter Ishad was fantastic (hopefully spelled your name right my sir) and the atmosphere pleasant! Thank you everyone!

As a visitor to Colorado Springs, I’m already missing Shuga’s. I came in for both lunch and dinner during my trip and wished I had time to try the whole menu. Everything was fresh, creative, and full of flavor. The Café Tray—which features the menu highlights—was a perfect sampler. The Cuban Mojo Sandwich and Key Lime Pie were excellent. Cocktails were perfectly balanced. The space itself is as thoughtful as the food. Beautiful art prints by a local artist line the walls, each representing a year of the business. There’s a cozy garden yurt out back that offers additional seating. It’s a unique, welcoming place with real personality. The staff clearly enjoy working together—it felt like a fun, supportive, family-like crew. I was lucky to be served by Missy, who made my day. I chatted with the chef at the bar after his shift; he was totally delightful and he clued me into his favorite local spots. Free street parking was easy to find, and I’d definitely recommend checking out their website—there’s a lot of fun lore behind the place. Everything about Shuga’s is spot-on.

Google
Had to make a trip to Colorado Springs and I searched for best lunch in the area. This place delivered that and more. From a unique atmosphere, menu that is nothing like you will find in any other restaurant, and topped it off with incredible service that guided us through a fun eating and drinking adventure. I can't wait to go back!

Google
My favorite place in Colorado Springs! I always bring my out of town friends here. The best cheese board, great sandwiches. Excellent cocktails and coffee. My favorite is the atmosphere. Moody, great music, great ambience. Everyone should come here.

Joshua U.

Yelp
Loved the uniqueness and the comfy atmosphere. The staff was very nice and the food was well priced and delicious. Will return.

Yelp
My go-to restaurant which we have been visiting since it opened. I always recommend Shuga's to any visitor I meet. Love all the quirky decor and friendly staff.

Acira M.

Yelp
Shuga's completely blew us away with its unique flavors and warm atmosphere. We ordered the Cuban Sandwich with Shrimp Soup, the Chicken Sandwich with Shrimp Soup, and the Bo Kho--and everything was perfect. The sandwiches and soups were already fantastic on their own, but dipping the sandwiches into the soup elevated the flavors to a whole new level. The Bo Kho, in particular, was a pleasant surprise, very authentic. To top it all off, we shared a slice of their almond cake with homemade vanilla bean whipped cream, and it was light, flavorful, and the perfect sweet finish to the meal. We're definitely planning to come back, especially to try their 1/2 off cocktails after 11 PM.

Yelp
A few of my coworkers and I flew in to Colorado Springs for a business trip and one of the local business partners said we had to check out Shuga's. We came as a party of 4 around 6:30pm without a reservation so we had to wait, which was no problem for us as we were seated within 20 minutes. The restaurant has a unique look to it. From the outside, it reminded me of Beetlejuice with the slime-green and deep red trimming. The interior seems small since the bar takes up half the space of the main dining area. It's very snug inside. I liked the various Shuga's posters by years but I wasn't a fan of the skeletons and origami paper crane decor - it was sorta creepy with the dimmed lighting for dinner. We ordered and our server was friendly. We let her know that we wanted the Mully's Picnic and to leave out the nuts. I'm thankful she left it out due to my allergies. I ordered a Shuga's Ginger-Lemon Tea (Iced) and it was intense yet I found myself to enjoy it. I also ordered the Northwest Pita with Otto Melon Gazpacho. Unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of the gazpacho. It tasted like someone who made salsa for the first time and dropped pieces of watermelon, and decided to add an extra splash of water - no thanks! However, I absolutely LOVED the Northwest Pita!! It was one of the best items I had during this trip. The Northwest Pita had house-smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers, cucumbers, hard-boiled eggs, red onion, greens, and crème fraîche on grilled pita. It was flavorful, had various textures, and was just so delicious!! If it weren't for my new allergies, I would've loved to order the Spicy Brazilian Coconut Shrimp Soup - my colleagues surely enjoyed theirs. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner at Shuga's. They seem to have a great team that work well together. And having happy servers makes for an enjoyable dining experience.

Linda P.

Yelp
The food was great and our server very friendly, if not exactly knowledgeable about the beers or the menu. Both the food and the beer were great. The only downside was that we were looking for a quieter, more chill, and quieter atmosphere. We had to shout to have a conversation with our dinner companions. It was exhausting. We chose Shuga's in particular because they were listed as having a quiet atmosphere . Maybe we just hit an unusual time.

Marin R.

Yelp
Loved this place!! Delicious food and it was reasonably priced. I can't wait to go back. The waiter was nice and we were seated in the back of the restaurant in this whole other separate building. It was a great place to catch up with my friends. I want to try all the food on the menu!!

Isaac A.

Yelp
I came in around 1pm on Friday by myself. Kind of a hipster/eccentric decor inside with a bar on the right side when you enter. It was pretty packed inside, but since it was just me, I was able to get seated in the corner within a few minutes. I ordered the El Gaucho sandwich and a cup of spicy Brazilian coconut shrimp soup. I ended waiting about 20 minutes for the food to arrive, which is a little longer than I expected, especially given that a few tables had already been cleared by then. The sandwich itself was delicious, but on the smaller side. The soup was also nice and hearty, not too spicy. I felt sated by the end of the meal, but would have liked to been a little more full for $20

Wendy M.

Yelp
Super cute, super cool, and super yummy. Loved that we stopped in today for a gorgeous fall lunch with friends. First, props to the staff as Shuga's was packed to the gills and yet, they still continued to seat folks and find nooks and cranny to offer. They operated like a well oiled machine and no, attentiveness to us, checking on how things were going and even checking the water levels on the table didn't suffer. Second, loved our waiter. He was such a helpful dude to get just the right menu items in front of us. We trusted him with our final selections and he was spot on. I ordered Shuga's Fav Tray and man, there is a reason it's called their "favorite." This tray had it all - the salad was really tasty, all the way to the almond butter cake. If you want a little of this and a little of that, if you're a fan of Mediterranean, this is your dish. I left not one thing on that plate, lol. The place - such an eclectic, funky and cool vibe. I loved the random decor and all the seating options. I can't wait to return to check out the back patio seating and that cocktail menu. Oh, and the jalapeño bacon mac and cheese is already on my "next time" list. Such a gem.

Janis R.

Yelp
Very artsy interior. Tables and a small bar with seating. Outdoor seating for summer. Food enjoyable. Try Gaucho sandwich (beef, onions, etc). Tried 4 kinds of bruschetta and loved them all. Coconut shrimp soup had great flavor though shrimp portion in soup small. Excellent service. Music a bit loud but others seemed to like

Katie W.

Yelp
While I loved the food here (especially the spicy shrimp soup), there was one major thing that turned this place from a 5 star into a 3 star. They failed to mention at all that the spicy shrimp soup had peanuts even though one person in our party had an allergy and mentioned it ! This is so dangerous but luckily we smelled the peanuts in the soup and then double checked with another waiter who mentioned that it did. They were nice enough to swap it for a salad but bummer since that was one of the dishes we all came in to try. Additionally, brunch is on weekends (no lunch) so the menu was a little different than expected but no real complaints there. They also do close between brunch and dinner, saw a few people get turned away since they were closing soon!

Emma F.

Yelp
It was cute dining here, like you are at someone's house. We came here for a walk in and there was a bit of a wait. I had the sampling tray, the soup was my favorite. I wish the bread in the bruschetta was toasted. The pie was also good. Service was nice.

Lindsey C.

Yelp
Got the Cuban Mojo sandwich with some Spicy Brazilian Coconut Shrimp Soup and it was fantastic. Both things tasted so delicious, and the soup really exceeded my expectations. Also tried the Northwest Pita Sandwich with a cup of ramen and while the sandwich tasted amazing, I'd rate the ramen 1/5 - it didn't taste good at all. Overall, definitely enjoyed the meals and I'd highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in Colorado Springs or just visiting.

Kris U.

Yelp
| Food | We shared a few brunch items and enjoyed them all. I particularly liked the quiche, which was a perfectly fluffy consistency. The french toast was unique, with a (cereal?) coated crunchy top and a decadent berries preserve spread. The fried eggs and the sourdough toast with the yummy fig preserves and goat cheese were both great. The bacon was just okay; some pieces were definitely meatier than others. | Drinks | The brunch cocktail Orange Laughter was made for me! I loved all the ingredients in this very pretty cocktail: gin, aperol, blood orange and bubbles. | Atmosphere | This place is lively and vibrant! It's fun to sit at the bar and watch the bartenders make magic happen (warning: it also makes you thirstier!) The decor is cute and I particularly loved the many origami cranes hanging from the ceiling.

Katy A.

Yelp
Absolute gem! Cozy, independent, restaurant with well crafted casual menu. Deliciously designed sandwiches !

James G M.

Yelp
Just a great local neighborhood place/atmosphere to relax, have a appetizer, cocktail and conversation.

Doug S.

Yelp
Great food, excellent service, artistic atmosphere, did I mention the food?! The cocktails were also worth the visit.

Isaac C.

Yelp
Great place and fabulous people. They are soooo sweet. The good so beautiful and delicious The place is a great little cozy location on the corner

Todd F.

Yelp
I had the Cuban MOJO and spicy soup. Very good all around. Service was awesome, very nice atmosphere.

Ed D.

Yelp
Came here on Saturday evening for dinner around 6 and it was packed and we had to wait for about 20 mins to get a seat but not bad. Inside was pretty loud so it was hard to hear each other talk. We should've asked for a seat in their outside patio. The waiter was friendly and attentive. I liked the decor, very progressive and lots to look at and read. We got the lemonade infused with Lavender and it was very good. We also got the pita board with hummus and other dips as an appetizer. For our main sandwiches, we got the Cuban and Steak and both were very good. Prices were ok. Nice place for a good sandwich.

Alyssa B.

Yelp
This place has the best drinks and unique food. I love the cafe tray- it's a great selection of all my favorites here. Also I love the yurt- it's so cool and fun! The service is always great and friendly as well!

Jill D.

Yelp
The food was amazing as always! Fantastic service and the yurt was so cute to sit in. I got tea instead of a cocktail because I was the DD and I can't stop thinking of that tea. So good.

Jonathan D.

Yelp
Excellent sweet/savory brunch menu. I had some french toast dish with eggs and bacon that was awesome. It was a great blend of sweet and savory though the french toast was a bit harder to cut through than I would have liked. I dont think the knife was up to the task. But I'm nitpicking The cocktails were also excellent

Yelp
In Colorado Springs for a relaxing weekend and trying to escape the Phoenix heat. It has been over 30 years since my last visit to CS, but was looking forward to the beautiful outdoors, cooler temps and great food. After a morning of exploring the outdoors, we searched for a unique but not heavy lunch, something special. Shuga kept popping up and we decided to give it a try. Shuga is a non-assuming old house packed with patrons laughing, engaging and ordering lots of dishes. The small staff hustles and has a good grip on meeting your dining needs. The inside is decorated with a Halloween theme. The menu was small and packed with delicious and flavorful combinations. We ordered the half Cuban sandwich with spicy Brazilian coconut shrimp soup. A French roll with roasted pork shoulder, black forest ham, Swiss cheese, dill pickle and mustard. The sandwich was pressed and the perfect size for lunch. They hit it out of the park with attention to detail. The small bowl of spicy Brazilian coconut shrimp soup was impressive and memorable. Great job! We also ordered the Soleil Parisien salad with flank steak, apple, blue cheese, fried egg, crispy red quinoa, orange confit, greens, pistachios and grilled bread. This was the show stealer. We will definitely be back for the salad alone. The creativity of the menu and choices needs to be recognized, OUTSTANDING! Everyone visiting and living in CS should make SHUGA, their number 1 lunch spot in the city. My hat is off to this gem in the Springs. Thanks for a memorable meal.

Neva G.

Yelp
This Colorado Springs hot spot may just be my new favorite lunch destination--despite the hour drive from my home! They're famous for their Spicy Brazilian Coconut Shrimp Soup ($6/$12) so I added a "cup" to a sandwich I split with my dining partner ($5 as an add on to a sandwich). It's a small bowl, just the right size. A smooth, thin broth, just a touch spicy, 4 shrimp swimming with cilantro sprigs and black sesame seeds, served nicely hot. It's fabulous. The "bowl" is huge, and would be too much. The sandwich we split was the Northwest Pita - house smoked salmon, cream cheese, red onions, capers, cucumber, hard-boiled egg, greens and creme fraiche ($12.50). This comprised a moderately light lunch, perfect on this beautiful day. Of course, dessert was added--a slice of rich Chocolate Double Diablo cake, doubly delicious. Shuga's is in a small house, and fills quickly - even for a weekday lunch a reservation is a smart idea. It gets pretty noisy, but it's a happy noise. Just don't expect quiet intimacy.

Ashley W.

Yelp
Food is amazing, ambiance is unbelievable. The whole restaurant is cool and fun to experience. However, the staff were very impatient and trying to flip tables (get customers in & out) as fast as possible. Feeling very rushed, and not listened to.. was the only downside.

Marilyn L.

Yelp
Excellent food! All the bruschetta I've tried is simply wonderful! Love the vibe there! A unique dining experience in the Colorado Springs downtown area!! Every dish I've tried is amazing!!

Hailey H.

Yelp
I wish I could give this place a thousand stars! Every time my husband and I visit Colorado Springs we come here. The food, service and ambiance is spectacular. I would get the shuga's cafeteria tray so you can try a little bit of everything especially the almond cake! It's so delicious. We've eaten both inside and in the yurt. We love the decor.

Connor M.

Yelp
I love this place so much I wrote a song. I hope you like it https://youtu.be/evnM22sDQ_c?si=QePd324gTfwAqq6C

Yelp
Shuga's is a lively, quirky cafe with a menu of global eats with influences from the Mediterranean, Latin America, and more! Shuga's Favorite Cafe Tray was a nice sampler of their best items, including "Mediterranean fare," a trio of hummus, olive tapenade, and goat cheese dip with grilled pita; bruschetta topped with mozzarella, tomato, and basil; Aracelli Nicoise, a salad of greens, house-smoked salmon, boiled egg, potato, olives, red onions, tomatoes, and capers; and the most distinctive item, a spicy Brazilian coconut shrimp soup, a creamy, spicy coconut broth with shrimps. For dessert came a wedge of almond butter cake, a dense, chewy, sweet cake drizzled with honey and topped with whipped cream. There were so many different flavors featured on this metal platter, but my favorite was probably the spicy coconut soup. Aside from the tasty, reasonably priced food, the vibe and service at this restaurant stood out as well!

Deb K.

Yelp
We highly recommend the coconut spicy shrimp soup with a twist!!! Also the lavender gin n tonic was really good. The Cubano sandwich with pork shoulder was delightful. The chicken sandwich we got was really great too with the bacon! This spot really reminded me of the south. Our waitress was fantastic & chill vibes all around

Peggy U.

Yelp
They had a lot of empty tables at 2pm on Sunday and a 15-20 min wait. I'm guessing staffing issues. I got my food before the drink. I had the Shuga Drink and it was the only thing that made this first time visit worth it. I came here because of the reviews so I was disappointed. The spicy shrimp soup tasted old and was a thin and runny soup. I love spicy food and soup but this was so bad, I didn't eat it. The Cuban sandwich was ok... I could've just caught them on an off day and that can happen.

Julia F.

Yelp
Update: it's 2 years later and I'm still thinking about this almond cake. If you're anywhere near this restaurant, go! And order the sampler -- not only is it a lot of food and a great way to try different things, everything on it is so delicious. The restaurant feels like you're in someone's home and I couldn't recommend it enough

JoJo N.

Yelp
Love the ambiance of this spot - it's a nice little restaurant that feels very hip and unique. It was busier than I thought it would be for a Thursday night, but we were seated immediately. After hearing all about their Brazilian Coconut Shrimp Soup from reviews, I decided to give it a try. It was pretty good but not mind-blowing in any way, but I feel that the real star of the show was the Mercato sandwich. The thin sliced porchetta really hit the spot, and the caramelized red pepper really added a nice flavor. The roasted garlic scallion butter on there, while a bit overpowering, was absolutely to die for and really pulled the whole sandwich together. I would drive to Colorado Springs just for this sandwich!

Brooklynn K.

Yelp
Stoped by tonight to try a new place out. The Spicy shrimp soup was cooked to perfection and the flavors were incredible, the bartenders were incredibly attentive and friendly! The ambiance was eclectic and had low lights perfect for a date night!

Mariel T.

Yelp
Reviews are right- the soup is delicious! I probably wouldn't have ordered it, but it came with the Cuban (which is SPOT ON delicious by the way). For those who want your typical breakfast, you'll want the ranch hand. I loved the vintage and eclectic touches throughout the restaurant. Service was quick and they made sure to check on us often!

Angela B.

Yelp
Great find while visiting Colorado Springs over the weekend. Our server was friendly and attentive. I had the shrimp spicy soup with a selection of sandwich on the side. This was on the brunch menu. My companion quickly gulped down the tasty bloody mary and the assortment of bruschetta with the Spicy Brazilian Coconut soup. Great spot!

Ron M.

Yelp
What a great find! My wife and I were visiting Garden of the Gods and found this place after a Yelp search. It's a small, eclectic place in what I believe was an old house. After reading the reviews, I had to have the Cafe Tray, which was amazing. HIghlights include the nicoise salad, the Brazilian soup and the almond butter cake. The latter was so good we would have ordered more, if we weren't full. My wife had the Mercato sandwich and she proclaimed it delicious as well. The staff was very friendly and helped us out with some advice on local coffee shops, which was our next stop. I highly recommend this place and we'll certainly return next time we find ourselves in Colorado Springs!

Jonathan K.

Yelp
We came here with our 5 and 8 year old for dinner before the Elf musical at the Fine Arts Theatre. We set up a reservation so we were seated immediately. Food was amazing! Shout out to Sam holding serving a lot of guests. Sam made sure that we got what we needed. Sam was awesome! Ambience was really cool. We played eye spy the whole dinner with the kids and there were still more things to see. Only downside was if there is more than one party waiting, the front area is really cramped. But, they seat you really fast and it's a fun vibe to wait in. We will be back soon.

Ivory B.

Yelp
Shuga's is 100% epic! I wish this restaurant is near my home. It was cool that I could make the reservation on Yelp. My table was ready as I arrived. The host and the waiter were nice and friendly. I enjoying eating my dinner here. My plate of food was fresh, colorful, tasty, and flavorful, especially my bowl of ramen. The decor is vibrant! The restaurant ambiance was warm, fun and easy going. Highly recommended!

Kristin R.

Yelp
Came here after taking the train up to pikes Peak. Conveniently located off of the 25. Especially if you're heading back up to Denver. Cute restaurant. Great waiter. Great host. Their system was down and they apologized over and over. I really didn't see an issue with it. I wonder how efficient they usually are. We ordered four entrées and coffee. Everything was excellent. Would have liked more salmon on salad but filling none the less. Highly recommend. Parking too

Erin L.

Yelp
Honestly kinda overrated. We were not a fan. The vibe was eh, the food was eh and the service was for sure eh. We went during the mid afternoon-lunch ish timeframe. My favorite part of my meal was the almond cake on my lunch sampler tray. Maybe we will have to come back for the bar and drinks only.

Cameron C.

Yelp
Our first dining experience in Colorado during our three week road trip. We came as we were traveling with our dog and they had a beautiful patio and garden area which allowed pets. The service was a bit slow but we enjoyed the beautiful afternoon outside. I ordered the Cuban along with a local beer and my wife ordered the sampler platter with glass of wine. The Cuban was by far the stand out. The shrimp soup everyone talks about was good, but served a lukewarm. Their menu is small, but everything is delicious. We would go back every day for that Cuban!

Chris M.

Yelp
Found this place online while searching for breakfast/brunch restaurants. We decided to make a reservation for brunch today, Sunday, and I'm glad we did since they were quite busy. Cute place and pretty easy to find street parking nearby. All the food and drinks were delicious, and the staff here are extremely nice and helpful. We ordered a few things: Iced Malted Freddo, Espresso Martini, mozzarella bruschetta, almond butter cake, Ranch Hand, and the Rufus Sandwich + Madame Tulip's Saigon Beef Stew. It was all so good! I have to give extra points to the soup and almond butter cake, we haven't had a pastry that good since we were in Greece and that beef stew tasted like soup I recently had in Vietnam & Thailand!! They really took us back :) We will definitely be visiting again to try some more menu items.

Justin N.

Yelp
Visiting Colorado Springs after many years, we knew we had to go to Shuga's for their amazing food and awesome vibes. The food was elite and the Cuban was a great choice for lunch the soup was perfectly spiced and what we needed. The new yurt they have in the back is also a great place to eat that was just rejuvenating!

Laurie M.

Yelp
Shuga's has outdoor dining and great food. The service is quick and the staff is very friendly. My husband had the house shrimp soup with noodles and chicken added. Best soup he has ever had. I had the watermelon salad and a cup of soup. So good! I highly recommend eating here. My husband and I eat out a lot, and I rarely write a review. You will not be disappointed.

John P.

Yelp
Outstanding service, food and drink. Fantastic value and quality and variety is top notch.

Sarah F.

Yelp
Cute and quirky vibe if you're looking for somewhere quick to stop for lunch. Definitely a good stop in Pueblo!

Mike T.

Yelp
Amazing food for breakfast and lunch ranging from soup, salads, sandwiches, and some great brunch items. The service is also great with the servers being very informative about their menu and they help you with whatever is needed to make your experience better. A worthy brunch spot and you can sit in a yurt outside for a super unique experience.

Zee M.

Yelp
This was the cutest restaurant that I have seen in a while! A whole vibe. The food was really good. Didn't get any drinks but I definitely will have to update this when I do indulge. There was a little wait to get the bill after the food but I absolutely loved my salad and the favorite tray (which i would say is a go-to if you want to try some good portions of what they offer for one person). We got some recommendations from the waiter too!
