Authentic Sichuan cuisine with flavorful dishes like tea-smoked ribs

"A Chinese restaurant known for its delicious Sichuan cuisine, featuring dishes like tea-smoked duck and mapo tofu." - Kevin Chau

"I regard Sichuan Impression as an old-school favorite that we regularly return to for dependable flavors." - Eater Staff
"Though Sichuan Impression now has locations from Tustin to West LA, a visit to its original Alhambra space is a required pilgrimage. The warm, homey dining room has big tables and long wooden benches—making it a great spot for a communal dinner with family—and the Sichuan food is still among the best in the city. We love the meaty, succulent tea-smoked ribs, sinus-clearing mapo tofu, and cumin-laced toothpick lamb—a great dish for said communal dining. Also, don’t overlook the kung pao chicken: it’s sweet, not too salty, and will vanish within seconds of hitting the table. " - Brant Cox

"I noted that this restaurant is requiring a body temperature check before diners can enter the dining room as part of its coronavirus precautions." - Eater Staff

"I found that Sichuan Impression is taking coronavirus precautions extremely seriously: since late January its staff have been using infrared thermometers to check every customer's temperature before dining at any of its three Southern California locations, and customers who refuse the test are denied entry. If a guest shows abnormal symptoms such as a fever, employees will assist in contacting the nearest medical service, and staff at all three locations (Tustin, Alhambra, and West LA) adhere to this intensive “prevention and control” procedure announced on Instagram. The restaurant is encouraging takeout—offering a 5% discount on entire orders—and an employee said the measures are intended to protect customers and staff; the same employee noted a general slowdown as some diners avoid Chinese restaurants but did not link that decline specifically to the temperature checks. Sichuan Impression opened its first Alhambra location in 2016 and became an instant hit for boiled fish, tea-smoked pork ribs, cold Sichuan-style noodles, and mapo tofu; Eater confirmed each location follows the policy, which was first reported by the Los Angeles Times." - Mona Holmes
