The Best Smashburgers In SF - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"You’ll need to keep tabs on Shmash’d and its inconsistent schedule to get their excellent smashburgers. The Bay Area pop-up makes an appearance in SF generally once per week at Barebottle or Noe Cafe—though the day and hours are rarely the same. Once you track them down, you’ll be rewarded with juicy patties with crisp paper-thin skirts slathered in a tangy sauce inside of a bouncy potato bun (remember to ask for the free diced caramelized onions, too). We like the OG—and make sure to order an extra patty." - julia chen 1, patrick wong

Where to Eat and Drink Around St. Philip’s College in San Antonio

"Camp out with a vintage board game at this nostalgic bar, which specializes in classic sandwiches like hoagies, BLTs, and cheesesteaks. The drink menu offers plenty of deals, like a perfectly slammable $5 daiquiri. There are indoor and outdoor dine-in areas." - Brandon Watson

So what happened was... 😆! I'm taking an employee to work. We start talking about this place he's been at for a minute. He sells me to get off, get some food, and check it out. I was not at all disappointed. I didn't have too much time to spend, but I'll be back to enjoy more off the menu soon. Thank you, AIDEN, for a great conversation about your job, what you do, and how much you enjoy it. Also, a special shout out to bar staff who also welcomed me, provided service quickly, professionally, and also recommended items off their menu. Fries are sweet, delicious, and filling. Wings come in a few different flavors to choose from, and let me tell you, they are delicious. Side note...restrooms are clean, fully stocked, and that's a big plus for me. Thanks again and see you soon 👍

Burger was excellent, served hot and fresh. Condiments fresh, I got lettuce, tomato and onions. Fried pickles were the best I've ever tasted. So, definitely getting those again and I don't even like pickles that much. The batter, ranch and pickle choice made it good. They have a very nice dinning area outside, we enjoyed the sun, the neighborhood and surrounding area. They also have an outside beer 🍻 tap, which is an awesome addition. Also a stage for live music etc..For the Philly cheese steak, it was cooked well, however they should add the fried onions to the bottom of the bread instead of on top of the sandwich. I'm a Philly native, and the Philly cheese steak is in my diet rotation. Over all, very nice restaurant. My family and I will definitely go back again. Can't wait to order the pickles, with a cold beer next time 😋.

I recently discovered Smash’d, a quaint restaurant nestled on Grayson Street, and I'm so glad I did! This charming eatery serves up mouth-watering burgers, burritos, sandwiches, and more. The patio area is a standout feature, offering plenty of seating at picnic tables and a lively atmosphere. We were treated to live music during our visit, which added to the welcoming ambiance. The food was exceptional! I devoured the chicken club sandwich, which was packed with fresh veggies, including creamy avocado. The slider burgers were equally impressive – be warned, you'll want at least two! Overall, Smash’d is a must-visit destination for foodies and anyone seeking a casual, enjoyable dining experience. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Google
What can I say?! I think my new favorite burger spot is RIGHT HERE at Smash’d. The atmosphere is darling, and the customer service is even better. Colt is THE MAN! He recommended the Wakin’ Bacon for Burger Week and oh.my.goodness…….the myriad of flavors is amazing, making his burger an elevated experience. If you’re looking to upgrade your burger experience, come here. The price point is great and the people working here are fantastic. Don’t forget the desserts! This cake came highly recommended by my boy, Colt. And it was freaking delish!!! Colt deserves a raise. Just sayin.

I have driven past Smash'd many times but never stopped in. Since I had an hour to kill, I thought here's my chance to give it a shot. Wow the Jalapeno Smash Burger was delicious and perfect size for not bloating me like some monster burgers do. Definitely one of the best burger places in SATX! Be sure and stop by for a damn fine smash burger you won't regret it. I look forward to trying some other smash from the menu next time I make it back💣💥

Google
Good food. Oh man, the guac was more of a citrus flavor but it's about what you like and we enjoyed it. They have white queso and let me say it can be deceiving. We and the kiddos were eating then I saw one kiddo drink half his coke. It's a little spicy but in a good way. And the Dr pepper wings OMG and the ranch holy cow it taste like wing stop ranch and the fries damn it was explosion after explosion. All 3 burgers were amazing never seen the other kiddo tear into a burger like that but oh man. Overall really great not much seating inside but the tables are outside drinks for refills are outside as well.

Google
Local smashed burger spot located near downtown. We been wanting to try it for a while and I’ll tell you. Really good food. I had the Southwest smashed burger. I wished it had a bit more spicyness to it lol but still a damn good burger. Flavor was perfect and so was the bun. I really enjoyed it. My wife got the buffalo chicken sandwich. She loved it. Buffalo sauce was really good! Both meals came with fries. The fries had a seasoning on it and it was bomb.com. Restaurant was really nice inside and out. They have a small indoor seating but have two patio’s. The patio next to structure also has an outdoor tap and a stage for performers. Inside had a full bar. We had beer and a seltzer but overall experience was really good. We will be back for sure.

Google
Wonderful spot for burgers. They have very unique options. Can’t go wrong with any of their burgers they’re all good. Fajita smashed was my favorite. Definitely add the extra patty.

Yelp
The burgers were decent, but I expected more for it being a burger joint good variety to choose from for specialty burgers, but at the end of the day it's barfood I did have the cucumber smash cooler which is a alcoholic beverage, and it was phenomenal. There were lots of families, but again if you're out on the town, it's a good spot to stop at, but if you're expecting a spectacular burger, I would prefer somewhere else.

Yelp
This place has an amazing selection of specialty burgers. I've tried most of them and they are all GREAT! The restaurant itself is really nice and has a great outdoor area with a stage for live music. This is my new favorite spot in SA for great food, drinks and a relaxing evening with friends!

Yelp
The food was great! The service was great! The atmosphere was great! The food is delicious and affordable! The apps are 1/2 off during happy hour but still full-sized. I paid $7.00 for the Carne Asada app and couldn't finish it. Can't wait to go back to try other items.

Yelp
If you're looking for a good burger this is the place. Two hands and three napkins! We had the double smash'd and asada fries. It's hard to find a good greasy burger but this one was pretty good. The fries are loaded and tasty. Katie was friendly and helpful. The place is casual with outdoor seating. Try the bbq bourbon old fashioned.

Yelp
Never been here so we figured we'd give it a shot on a Friday night. The seating is all outdoor but even on the warm day today was, the shades and fans keep the air moving. There was a live band playing which was a big bonus! When we ordered the staff member taking orders was very pleasant and offered a few suggestions for sandwiches. We started with the chips and queso. They were the only disappointing part of the meal. They came with a LOT of chips and a LITTLE cup (see the attached picture) of queso. The ratio was waaayyy off. When I asked the server if we could get more queso they politely apologized and said that they do not do refills. Not a big deal, but definitely not pleased either. About a minute later someone came out with another cup of queso - which definitely was appreciated and showed they take comments to heart! I ordered the Southwestern Smash'd - jalapeño cheddar bun, southwest seasoning, pepper jack cheese, fresh guacamole, roasted jalapeño aioli and grilled onions. I had a double. It was very good - both my wife and I liked it - I'd order it again. The sandwiches don't come with fries, so I ordered some seasoned fries - they were very good and crispy! My wife ordered the Buffalo Chicken Smash'd, which is supposed to be a brioche bun, Buffalo sauce, blue cheese crumbles, homemade pickles and creamy ranch slaw. The downside - if there was buffalo sauce on this sandwich it was well hidden - zero Buffalo flavor. The good news - though not a Buffalo chicken sandwich, it was actually a good sandwich - just a bit disappointed on the lack of Buffalo flavor. Overall, pretty good. We would probably go back - the vibe was great and the food was good, albeit somewhat different than advertised.

Yelp
We were excited to visit Smash'd after its reopening following several months of closure. We ordered a cheeseburger, onion rings, and fries. The brioche bun was fresh and soft. However, the burger itself was disappointing. While the pictures show a smash patty overflowing from the bun, our patties were very thin and only as large as the small bun, though they were still tasty. The fries were soggy instead of crispy. On the bright side, the panko-crusted onion rings were excellent--crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. We also enjoyed very cold beer. Overall, it was a decent Sunday lunch but I'm not sure I'll be back for an underwhelming hamburger paddy for the price.

Yelp
Overall great food. The bartender/waitress were very on top of everything all the time even though there were a million of us. $19 for a chicken sandwich (after tax and tip), I would expect to be a bit bigger and the flavor to be more powerful. The sweet potato fries were the best I've ever had in my life. Perfectly cooked and seasoned with something a little extra. The drink was good, but didn't make you want a second. I might go back just for the fries

Yelp
This place was great ! The vibes, the place itself , the service and the area were 10/10. I honestly LOVED my Hawaiian smash burger, and would go back for another one. Unfortunately, I thought the fried pickles were way too sour to eat. The fries were just okay, they didn't have enough flavor or crunch. The smash buffalo chicken burger was also wayyy to sour/salty for me. My boyfriend loved both the chicken burger and fried pickles but he liked excessively sour things. If you go, I recommend getting a burger and skipping the fries.

Yelp
This place has a little of everything and does it all well. First off, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. It felt like each of them really cared how our experience was, which isn't common at places these days. Beyond that, our happy hour drinks were good pours at great prices. We ordered food, and we were all really pleased with our selections. Our burritos were juicy, flavorful, and filling without being too heavy. They also had live music and a lot of different seating, both indoor and outdoor (Adirondack chairs around a fire, picnic tables, real tables). I hope this place is here to stay!

Yelp
Very good burger. Atmosphere was great, laid back and quick service. Would definitely recommend giving it a shot

Yelp
I didn't get a pic of my smash'd chicken burger because I was starving & inhaled its deliciousness!! It was a flavorful seasoned chicken smashed burger with a generous sliced of grilled poblano & grilled onions & su dried tomatoes. This included jalapeño aioli on a fluffy brioche bun. The BEST burger I've had in a while. Great ambience on a mild evening. Love that they gave us little electric fans to keep the bugs away from our drinks. The drink menu was great and reasonably priced. Got there before seven on a Friday so happy hour time frame ($10 a pop). Loads of outdoor seating, including Adirondack chairs to chill and enjoy the live band. They had a deck set aside from the band if one desire to have more conversation. This area had misters and fans, so would be enjoyable even on a hot SA night. Additionally, there are seats inside and air conditioning. Definitely recommend! Service was great! Food was bomb & drinks were strong! Always love live music, so it kinda was a trifecta for a great Friday night out.

Yelp
Burger was amazing but fries could have been cooked longer. Overall I recommend this place.

Yelp
This place was soooo good!!! First off this place you aren't just paying for the food, but for ambiance too! We got a couple burgers and carne asada fries, only thing that's holding us back for a 5 star is the price and the fries needed Pico for perfection. My wife got the dlx burger and was 5/5 everything a burger should be. My niece got the SW burger and loved it. I got the carne asada fries and was so impressed, everything was near perfection! Music the evening we came was good, our baby danced and wandered around the open area! (Enclosed patio and overhang with misters) great place to go for delicious, but pricey food and a great time! 4.5/5!!!!

Yelp
Eagerly awaited the next reinvention of this prime space and was not disappointed! Burgers were amazing and pickle spears are my new favorite. I had the classic and the husband went with the owners suggestion "Wakin Bacon"...both were more than we expected. Excellent beer selection and new things coming for the patio space. Don't sleep on this place!

Yelp
Burger was tasty, but not worth the price for about 1/4pound of meat. Slow service because only 1 front of the house person running the bar and tickets.

Yelp
Great atmosphere with live music. The urgers were amazing and so were the margaritas! A bit pricey but worth it!

Yelp
Place was pretty busy. The woman tending bar was running around by herself taking ordering and all. They were reorganizing the bar which is probably something that shouldn't be done in the middle of a Friday lunch. All that being said the burger was absolutely incredible, HOWEVER it took 20 mins (to go order) and it was like warm. I think it was done within 5 ish mins and sitting in the window for at least 10, hence why it was cold, but I really enjoyed it and would love to be able to try it hot.

Chris And Sheila B.

Yelp
Delicious burger! We shared the Hawaiian Smash'd burger. It was very juicy and a nice combo of sweet and salty with the pineapple and spam ingredients on the burger. The sweet potato fries were also a nice side. Full bar, live music, in a festive location, I would definitely recommend! Looking forward to coming back and trying the other burger offerings. Oh, and the service is very good too!

Yelp
Blown away by this place! The burger was so good and the seasoning on the fries is incredible! I'm glad I live just a mile away, because I just found my new go to burger spot! The staff is very friendly as well! Highly recommend if you want a good smash burger!

Cindi N.

Yelp
Awesome new spot with fabulous smash burgers and chicken. We all had something different - from Diablo chicken smash to a triple smash burger (Wagyu.) Fries and onion rings - super yum. Everything was fresh, hot and delicious. Great, friendly service and perfect outdoor patio. We loved it and will be back!

Jae S.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place on cinco de mayo, decided to stop for drinks and food and definitely didn't disappoint! August made a killer margarita!! 10/10! Triple dipper was a great appetizer to start the day. Signature smash burger & carne guisada burrito was also delicious. No complaints. Think we found our new hang out spot. Outside seating area is a vibe on a good weather day! Every employee was nice and attentive. Service was great, will return! (Kids menu is legit)

Patrick S.

Yelp
Great burgers, fries, and more in a beautiful casual patio bar near Pearl. Full bar available

Elizabeth T.

Yelp
The Smash Burgers were amazing! People were very friendly and great service. We enjoyed the live music on the outdoor shaded patio area and had fun with family and friends. We'll be back for certain!

Anabel M.

Yelp
The burgers and service were great!! You can just taste all the fresh ingredients! Will come again!

Bekah G.

Yelp
Best burger ever! We loved this place. Super clean, delicious food and very friendly staff. Definitely give it a try if you're in San Antonio!

Billy B.

Yelp
Great burgers! Nice outdoor space with a decent amount of covered area for when the weather is poor. Come here, eat good, drink well, and enjoy yourself.

Mark C.

Yelp
Very cool vibe, with super attentive staff and the Wake n Bacon double burger, so damn good! The burger had great flavor, bun was light, bacon was crispy! Seriously, check it out!
