Eatery at the SoHo Grand Hotel open till late, serving up revamped diner classics with vintage vibes.
"This is a fanciful recreation of a diner with today’s eclectic food tastes with higher prices than a run-of-the-mill diner. Breakfasts excel with huevos rancheros and buttermilk pancakes, while lunch and dinner selections include a chicken pot pie, and a Buffalo-style beef on weck sandwich on a caraway-seeded roll slathered with horseradish sauce that few places in town attempt, unusual enough to merit a visit on its own." - Robert Sietsema, Melissa McCart
"This hotel-borne establishment still manages to look very much like a diner inside — with elevated prices. It takes its menu seriously, reaching for regional dishes not usually found in the city — such as the beef on weck sandwich from Buffalo, and food that’s just plain fun, like a spaghetti and meatballs dinner served family style." - Melissa McCart, Robert Sietsema
"Soho Diner recreated its neighborhood diner vibe outdoors with both heated and covered roadside seating and a heated backyard garden. Come for the all-day breakfast with egg choices galore, and stay for the molten peanut butter banana split and selection of slices from Petee’s Pie." - Tanay Warerkar, Eater Staff
"Don’t be fooled by the name on the menu: warm roast beef sandwich. That listing at Soho Diner conceals Buffalo’s legendary beef on weck, which is damn hard to find in the five boroughs, popping up here and there and quickly disappearing. The bread is a kimmelweck, a variation on an Austrian roll topped with caraway seeds and rock salt, something like a spongy pretzel. The beef is rare and flooded with horseradish cream. Finally, a cup of stout beef broth is provided on the side, which should be used for sipping between bites and not for dipping this wonderfully gloppy sandwich." - Robert Sietsema
"Beef on weck at Soho Diner: This juicy and beefy sandwich constitutes a real taste of Buffalo, where it originated." - Robert Sietsema
