The Newest Restaurants In Chicago - Chicago - The Infatuation

"The only public rooftop pool in Wicker Park is now called Solana. Formerly known as Cabana Club, the sixth-floor party space at the Robey Hotel serves street tacos and prickly pear margaritas. DJ sets and other events are being scheduled throughout the summer." - john ringor, nick allen

13 Chicago Restaurants With Great Views - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Despite serving tacos, Solana is less a restaurant and more a glorified observatory in the middle of Wicker Park with an incredible city view. While some downtown rooftops have views obstructed by neighboring skyscrapers, this spot on the sixth floor of the Robey Hotel is wide open for prime skyline ogling. And that’s what it should mainly be used for, preferably with a beer or a frozen piña colada, while dipping your feet in their public, humorously small pool. Ignore the dry carne asada and al pastor tacos on the menu. You’re here to get the greatest hits of Chicago skyscrapers in one view—get your phone camera ready." - veda kilaru, john ringor

Solana - Review - Wicker Park - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Solana is less a restaurant and more a glorified observatory in the middle of Wicker Park with an incredible city view. And that’s what it should mainly be used for, preferably with a beer or a frozen piña colada, while dipping your feet in their public, but humorously small, pool. Ignore the carne asada and al pastor tacos on the menu—there’s no need to subject yourself to dry meat and dry tortillas. Unlike some downtown rooftops with views obstructed by neighboring skyscrapers, this spot on the sixth floor of the Robey Hotel is wide open for prime skyline ogling." - John Ringor

Four Chicago Upcoming Restaurant Openings to Know | Eater Chicago

"A rebranded sixth-floor rooftop bar at the Robey that aims to replace the previous rooftop concept with a festive, food-forward destination: street tacos made with El Milagro tortillas and a lineup of frozen cocktails such as piña coladas, prickly pear margaritas, and spritzes. Programming will emphasize local DJs, creative partners, and wellness pop-ups like rooftop yoga. The team is targeting a Monday, May 5 debut, with a launch party planned for Saturday, May 10 from 2–6 p.m. that will include food, drink and tamales from Claudio Velez (the Tamale Guy)." - Ashok Selvam

A laid‑back sixth‑floor pool bar with frozen drinks, tacos, and neighborhood views. Covered by The Infatuation and local press, it’s Wicker Park’s only public rooftop pool scene—casual, social, and distinctly Chicago summer.

Came here on a Monday afternoon for the $2 tacos and rooftop vibes. No signage outside of the building that advertises this location. We almost walked past it. Once inside you step foot into a hotel lobby. The staff pointed us to the elevator to get to the rooftop. The scenery is beautiful. There are chairs and tables inside for dining and chairs and tables lined around the rooftop. You seat yourself and you go to the counter for service. The women's bathroom was pretty and CLEAN! There is no wait staff. One guy did come around to collect our empty trays and cups but that's about it. The pool is pretty small. I think I saw a sign that said max occupancy 27. I'd be amazed to see that many people in there. It was pretty crowded with the handful that were in there. Menu is pretty simple. They have 5 taco options; pork, steak, chicken, mushroom, and one other with slaw but im not sure what else comes in it. Tacos were $2 from 11am-2pm. Margaritas were $15. Service was pretty quick. You're given a buzzer to come back when your food is ready. The tacos are small. No bells and whistles, barely dressed and accessorized with the normal things you'd get from an authentic Taqueria. For $2, I'll take it. I got the 3 meat options. My favorite was the chicken, least favorite was the steak. It was bland and needed more seasoning. The pork was just ok. We asked for hot sauce and that definitely helped with the flavor. The guac and chips was just ok. The margarita was not worth the $15. It should be about $5-8 max. There was barely any alcohol in it but it tasted fine, glorified slushie. Since it's a hotel there were families there. The vibes were still really nice and if you sit away from the pool area you just might be able to block out the toddler voices and baby cries. Nice scenery for pics. I'll be back before the weather turns.

My wife, my daughter, and myself, took the elevator to the sixth floor and walked in we really liked the view. Small outdoor pool inside/outside seating. $2 tacos before 2pm. I had the carne asada green sauce on the side. My wife had a pastor, my daughter had pollo. All Tacos. Al pastor and carne asada were bland. Definitely not authentic. Pollo was a little too spicy for my daughter. the guacamole with chips was bland. I had the Pina colada for $15. Could have been a little stronger for the price. Staff friendly, and courteous. The area is clean and spacious. Great view.

I’m coming here to write a review because I felt like there weren’t enough to make me confident about visiting but you ABSOLUTELY should. I was traveling from Maryland to Chicago for a business trip. I wanted to try a rooftop pool and found recommendations for the Solana on social media. As the apps can be I got mixed reviews. However when I arrived I quickly felt this was such a gem 💎 My friends and I arrive at 1pm with an hour until the $2 Taco specials ended. Lines weren’t long and the tacos were delicious. Especially the mushroom! (Don’t sleep on it) Staff wasn’t pleasant and patient. The drinks are pricey ($15) but if you go for the special it evens out. Especially since there’s no cover. Drinks were great as well. It’s worth noting that lounge chairs are reserved for hotel guests only and the staff enforce it. (Rightfully so I think for paying hotel guests) The pool is about as big as two queen sized beds so it’ll be crowded but you can chill at the tables, just stick your feet in, or get in where you fit it. There is plenty of seating options indoors and outdoors. Views are spectacular. I highly recommend this place. So glad I got to go during mt trip.

One of my favorite rooftop bars in the city! The music and ambiance are always on point! Lively but not overwhelming, with a great vibe that makes it easy to relax and enjoy the view. The frozen drinks and tacos are delicious! Highly recommend!

The manager Nell or Neil is AWESOME!!! He made sure our experience was great. The tacos are soooooooo fire !!! Pool small so get there early enough to get some space because it does get packed fast. but great vibes Awesome food and drinks and the inside is amazing as well.

Awesome little roof top bar. We stumbled upon this trying to find somewhere to stop for a drink. Margaritas were delicious, atmosphere was chill and the view was great.

Yelp
I had three mushroom tacos and one fish taco, along with chips and guac--and everything was bursting with flavor. Each bite was fresh, made to order, and clearly crafted with care. The mushroom tacos were rich and savory, while the fish taco had just the right balance of seasoning and texture. The chips and guac? A perfect start--crispy, creamy, and satisfying. What really took it over the top was the rooftop scenery. It added a chill, elevated vibe that made the whole experience feel unique and memorable. Definitely a spot I'd recommend if you're looking for good food, good vibes, and a view to match.

Yelp
I walked into Solana after a walk last week. The place had been on my list to try for a minute. I wasn't expecting them to be open on a Monday afternoon but was glad it was. Food: There was a taco special going on. I had 2 Carne Asada Tacos and 1 Chicken. I usually love Carne Asada more but this time I enjoyed the Chicken here better! Drinks: I had a Strawberry Margarita and it was good! Service: The Bartender Janine was nice! There was a male employee who was nice as well. All of the staff were great! Ambiance: Rooftop pool (it isn't a huge big pool at all), chill vibes. Final Thoughts: I will definitely be going back even if it's to sit in the pool or just sit outside with some tacos and a margarita.

Yelp
Great lunch deal $2 tacos. They're pretty big and the meat and flavors are very nice. Nice outdoor seating with good scenery. Definitely check this one out

Yelp
Food was great drinks great rooftop is very small most spaces are reserved for hotel guest. If you are looking to get by poolside as an outsider forget about it.... My best friends and I went on a Monday morning.... Not a place to go to if you're not staying at hotel... oh yeah pool is very very small...
