Somedays Bakery - Review - Long Island City - New York - The Infatuation

"Astoria’s Somedays Bakery has a second location in Long Island City. The bakery is known for their croissants and laminated pastries, and it’s from the people behind Chip City. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Will Hartman

There bakery here taste so good ~ croissant 🥐 chocolate cookies 🍪 pistachio cookies . And also enjoy matcha ice cream 🍦. The staff there , she was really friendly and a great attitude, so I brought many bread more than I expected ~ She told me the popular one black sesame bread I should try , so I will go in the morning next time. Cause afternoon already sold out ~ I did dine in also take out for my friend with chocolate cookie and a croissant.

Google
Delicious and so happy they opened a location in LIC. All the savory pastries have been great. The BEC croissant and the chicken salad croissant were both so good. My favorite sweet item was the black sesame tahini pan au chocolat. Some items sell out early so it’s a better go early if there’s something specific you want.

Google
I visited Somedays Bakery twice during my visit to New York. Visit #1: Tuesday around 8:15 am, not busy Staff was very friendly and service was good Visit #2: Friday around 9 am, not busy Staff seemed very aloof. I asked for a black sesame tahini croissant and blueberry cardamom bun. I was given a cherry danish instead of the black sesame tahini croissant. The staff exchanged the pastry but didn't offer to refund me the difference in price. The difference is only a dollar, but it doesn't feel like the best customer service. Full marks for the pastries. Black sesame tahini croissant was so good. It was the reason I came back for a second visit. However, the service could be improved. Pistachio Lattice - $8.95 This was OK. The pistachio flavor wasn't strong enough for me. Black Sesame Tahini Croissant - $7.95 This was amazing. I've never had a tahini frangipane and loved it. The black sesame brittle on top was fun. Would definitely recommend coming here to get this croissant. Blueberry Cardamom Sweet Bun - $7.95 This is was tasty seasonal item. It was full of blueberries and the cardamom wasn't overpowering.

Google
Great people serving up amazing pastries. Both sweet and savory. We knew the croissants were gonna be fire but were blown away by the pretzel twists and both Dijon and paprika dips!! Also the vanilla soft serve was outstanding! Blueberry cardamom bun, dubai chocolate croissant, pistachio croissant, passion fruit croissant pudding all SO GOOD. A very very welcomed addition to the neighborhood! Love that they have some seating indoors and outdoors too! Also happy they open early on the weekdays so I can stop by before work.

Google
I was so happy to know the famous Astoria bakery opened a store in Brooklyn. They offer some best pastries in the town, it's really hard to choose what's the best from the best. Definitely try Black Sesame Tahini, Pistachio Lattice, and chocolate hazelnuts. For savory, I like prosciutto and gruyère .

Google
I finally got their cake at this location and the 4⭐️ is for the cake. (Pastries, no doubt. Staff, ofc friendly and nice) The lemon blueberry cake was huge, a thick and tall slice. The flavor was good but the cake itself was kinda oily and collapsing. ✨🍦Soft serve was tasty tho. It was creamy with rich flavor.

Google
We stopped by Someday Bakery while walking along the waterfront, and we’re so glad we did. This charming new addition to the neighborhood is modern yet cozy, with an inviting atmosphere and a delicious selection of pastries. They also serve great coffee and matcha, making it a perfect spot for a sweet treat and a pick-me-up. Whether you’re taking a stroll or just in the area, it’s definitely worth a visit. There’s both indoor and outdoor seating, so you can enjoy your treat however you like.

Google
Glad we had the chance to stop in. The staff is super welcoming.. Everything we got was delicious! The pistachio lattice - wow - that was my favorite! The pretzel twist with aoli dip was perfect.. we also picked up the chicken sando - it tastes great and so fresh! Will definitely go back.

Yelp
So glad Somedays opened up in LIC! Everything is delicious (cake, pastries, soft serve) and the staff is super friendly. Will be back lots.

Yelp
A wonderful bakery close to the water in LIC. Perfect during a stroll to get a sweet treat. They had a selection of delicious pastries! I got a black sesame tahini croissant, pistachio lattice, and pastry of the week which is inspired by elote. There is some seating inside and outside and very friendly and quick service! It was busy but the line moved quickly.

Yelp
Wow! Must try black sesame tahini croissant and blueberry cardamom bun. Those were the top 2 favorites of me and my 4 friends. I also appreciated the chocolate lattice croissant, if you love chocolate croissants, you definitely need to try this. We went around noon on a Sunday and there was only one other group ahead of us ordering. The service was great and they still had a lot of the pastries left.

Yelp
A small shop offering big taste! The pistachio lattice was delicious. A great balance of frangipane and tart raspberry jam with white chocolate. The black sesame tahini croissant was a WOW moment. The pastry itself is so buttery. And the tahini frangipane (filling) was so rich. And the black sesame brittle adds crunch and depth. I definitely recommend a black coffee or unsweetened latte with this one because it is so rich. This pastry in itself is a meal. Or half it with a pal.

Yelp
Visited Somedays Bakery during my recent trip to NY and was blown away with how fresh and flaky the pretzel pastry was. The selection to choose from was wonderful and we took our treats down to the waterfront to enjoy with a view. Would definitely recommend checking this place out!

Yelp
Pastries are so fricking delicious!!! Located in a beautiful neighborhood, this small lil spot is home to some unique and tasty pastries that bring joy with every bite!!! Came on a Sunday morning around 10am and luckily they hadn't run out of stuff ! Pistachio Lattice is a must try. Has pistashio frangipane, sweet white chocolate and raspberry jam all packed into this lovely pastry. It's so crispy, has a delicately sweet aroma and taste! Just lovely for a breakfast pick me up. Would come here again to try other items!!!

Yelp
After a very delicious dinner nearby, we were looking for an equally good dessert and found ourselves stopping by Somedays Bakery in the search of one. The interior is clean and cozy albeit small. They have a smaller amount of offerings than other bakeries but that seems to work more in their favor. The workers were friendly and offered help deciding what to eat but we opted to get the brownie and it was very good. It has a bit of a salty flavor which I'm assuming is due to them using sea salt as an ingredient, but it doesn't take away from the rich chocolate flavor it has. We would recommend this as a dessert option for those in the neighborhood but we will admit it is a bit out of the way since it's located closer to Gantry Plaza and away from Vernon and Jackson Aves.

Yelp
Visited at around 2 PM on a sunny March Saturday and there was a pretty long line, but it moved fast and they had plenty of things left (phew). There is limited seating indoors and outdoors, but of course the park is also right there. I've tried most of their croissants at the Astoria location, so that day's trip was all about ice cream and cake. The vanilla soft serve was indeed excellent, and the chocolate cake (which is HUGE) was amazing - and both went very well together. The black cocoa gives the cake a great and unique edge - if you've had the tiramisu at Don Angie, it's a similar flavor. They didn't have the passionfruit cake available, but would love to try that sometime. Will be back for more soft serve - hoping they rotate the flavors this summer - and croissants!

Yelp
This location has late hours, so we swung by for a dessert before heading over to the Record Room for a night cap. My wife picked us up a chocolate chunk cookie and a slice of cake. My wife loved the cookie so much that there was only a bite left for me by the time I arrived. Even though I only had one bite, I don't think it's a stretch to say this is one of the best cookies I've had. On chewy side yet still has a nice crunch to it. The cake slice was quite interesting. It was called their beauty cake. It had lemon jam layer in between cake layers and blueberry icing layers. The outside was gently coated with a vanilla bean icing. It was a perfect coating. The cake was tall and must have been around twenty layers. A fun slice! A small bench inside that could fit four to six depending on how tightly squeezed folks are. There are a few tables outside too. It's located by the waterfront park which has plenty of seating.

Yelp
Finally tried the Beast!!! Firstly the location is tdf. The waterfront in LIC is a destination & Somedays is too. The beast previously only available on weekends is now at the shop 5-9PM and it's humongous & pricey at $16.28 with tax. This is restaurant pricing. The cake is packaged nicely in a box. Its frosting is beyond. It's dense & delicious and I would rank these devil food cakes in the following order.1. Claud 2.Somedays & 3. Claude Bakery. No doubt this cake is an indulgence, but a seat at the waterfront with that cake is pure heaven & worth it!

Yelp
I ordered their iced americano and I really enjoyed it! It was probably the best iced americano I've had in the area. The blueberry cardamom was a bit too sweet for my taste, but it was good paired with the coffee. It's a quick grab and go spot, but you can head over to the park to enjoy the pastry & coffee. I highly recommend it to anyone in the area!

Yelp
Oh yeah I understand why these guys sell out before noon EVEN ON A GODDAMN WEEKDAY. Okay I was side eying the prices because 9 dollars for a pastry is a tad bit higher than other competitors but they are sizable so it makes me a little less mad and they ARE GOOD. The fact they sell out tells me that everything you get it fresh and you're never getting an old pastry. But I am annoyed with their hours because how in the world am I supposed to get my hands on any of their goodies during the week as a working woman I do appreciate they open earlier than other bakeries at 7am on the weekday but they aren't in the most convenient location for me to grab and go before work or anything. I wish they had longer hours so I can get stuff after work! My least favorite was the blueberry cardamom bun. I can't quite explain it but something about it made me feel nauseated. The chocolate hazelnut praline was awesome, crunchy, a little chewy from the blitzed shards of what tasted like hardened browned sugar, chocolatey and hazelnutty in a proper not Nutella way. Somehow I legit got the last spinach escargot and it was only 9:15 am at the time (I really hope they put out more) but I can see why that one flew off the shelves because the ricotta flavor and spinach flavor were very present all throughout the pastry. The May special pastry of the month was a chili cream cheese everything cruffin and the flavors were AWESOME. I definitely like my cruffins alot more flaky and crispy but still very good. I will be back for any other specials in the future.

Yelp
Somedays Bakery has been on my list to try since they opened in Astoria but I was never able to make it so I was stoked when they opened a location in LIC. They have a smaller menu but trust me when I say it's hard to choose what to get because everything looks amazing. I went with a savory and a sweet- the Spinach & Ricotta Swirl ($7.95) Black Sesame Tahini Pain Au Chocolate ($7.95). The spinach and ricotta was definitely my favorite- it's soft and fluffy on the inside and has the right amount of filling that doesn't feel too heavy or overpowering. The black sesame tahini croissant was also delicious and comes out warm and gooey on the inside, but I felt like there was a bit too much filling and was super rich. I was satisfied after a couple bites. Still delicious nonetheless. I will say that the prices are a bit high but the pastries are huge and can definitely be shared. There's also no seating inside but it's right by the park which has plenty of benches and tables. So worth going to and trying!

Yelp
Well worth the splurge (a sausage croissant, sesame/chocolate croissant, and an everything seasoning twist was $25)! The croissants were super flakey and the flavor of the tahini and chocolate were bold! The sausage pastry is simply a hotdog wrapped in flakey phyllo. It's tasty, but very reminiscent of the ones at Paris Baguette, which in comparison has a slightly lower price point. The everything twist was delish! I can't wait to try their night time menu and I wish they transitioned quicker.

Yelp
Stopped by on a Sunday, they were still in soft opening phase. I made sure to get here by 8AM to avoid the long lines. They had fresh baked goods coming out as I was ordering! I ended up getting the almond croissant, a vanilla custard croissant and the savory spinach and ricotta croissant. They were all very good, the almond croissant was still warm when I got home, and it was amazing! The savory spinach and ricotta croissant reminded me of a garlic knot. All in all, very good bakery. Can't wait to go back to try a few more items.

Yelp
Keepin it real out here in LIC This neighborhood is def in need of a new cafe, and this is the one. Amazing location right by the water, serving some of the best looking pastries. Didn't get to try them all, but they all look amazing. It's pet-friendly and just a great social spot
google avatar

Yelp
Wow so glad they opened this location in LIC. The bakery was stellar and definitely well deserved of any praises. We tried four things - pistachio lattice, blue berry cardamon bun, daily special ??pizza bun??, and one more i forget the name of. Everything was banger. Loved the blue berry twist for cardamon bun - the flavors worked amazing. The daily special was also so good - the tomato sauce was to die for. Definitely come check it out, this place might be my new favorite bakery.

Yelp
Stopped by today as part of their soft opening - luckily made it right before the line started going out the door! They were selling out of stuff but constantly cranking out more. Luckily for us, we grabbed the two last prosciutto and gruyere lattices and it was only a short wait for the sesame tahini croissant. The black sesame tahini came out fresh from the oven, still warm and melty inside. It's a bit heavy on the tahini for my taste - similar to an almond croissant but with tahini instead, and a little bit of sesame sprinkled in - it's like halvah in a croissant form. I wish it were more black sesame-y, but it's hard to beat a freshly baked, still warm croissant. The prosciutto and gruyère was so buttery and cheesy! Their website says the croissants are made with New Zealand butter and one bite of the lattice and you can immediately tell they use some high quality butter. I think mine may have been a little underbaked, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since it's a soft opening still. The prices are a bit high, but unfortunately for us, that seems to be the trend nowadays in New York. Can't wait to come back another day to try the bacon egg and cheese croissant.
google avatar

Lauren S.

Yelp
This blueberry cardamom sweet bun is absolutely incredible. I could eat this every day. It has the perfect blueberry to bun ratio and an even amount of cream cheese frosting. The price is just a bit high at $7.50 for a pastry.
google avatar

Kelsey A.

Yelp
I'd say overall- good but not great. I love pastries and had high hopes for this one. Their flavors seem overdone and too sugary sweet, which could be many people's cup of tea, but it's not mine. The best thing I've had is their hazelnut lattice. Their almond croissant has the thickest, sweetest almond paste. And their chocolate chip cookie is fine, but nothing to write home about.
google avatar

Emily N.

Yelp
1/5 Stars 4/19/25 @ 8am Passion Fruit Croissant Pudding -- nasty. don't even try it. extremely tart, terrible texture, and overpriced. No seating inside. Everything is expensive... very expensive. Accepts credit cards.
google avatar

Demetri Z.

Yelp
Somedays Bakery in Long Island City is hands down the spot for baked goods in NYC. I travel a long distance just to get my fix here, and every trip is absolutely worth it. Their croissants are on another level--perfectly flaky, buttery, and fresh out of the oven every time. You can tell they care about every detail. If you're even remotely into pastries, do yourself a favor and make the trip. Somedays Bakery is a rare find, and once you try it, you'll keep coming back--no matter how far you have to travel.

Yelp
picked up a slice after lunch the cake was soft and not overly sweet just perfect for an afternoon treat staff was kind and quick
google avatar

Michele A.

Yelp
Yummy cortado and a good selection of savory and sweet pastries. My favorite was the pistachio pastry! The space is small with limited indoor seating, but there are some outdoor seats available. Service was fairly quick and easy.
google avatar

Irene C.

Yelp
Quick ordering. Delicious pastries. A bit pricey but worth the splurge when in town. Love the chocolate croissant, has more choco filling than the norm skinny 2 rolls!
google avatar

Jiwon K.

Yelp
Heard good things about this place, but it was kinda underwhelming. To be fair, I did go at an off time that was later in the day, so they didn't have everything available, but I got their savoury Danish thing that changes every day (this day it was a margherita pizza flavour) and they didn't even warm it up for me. The people were super nice behind the counter, but there could've been better attention to detail.
google avatar

Emily G.

Yelp
Yum! A small spot, but I see the potential especially when the weather gets nicer out! No real room to dine in aside from a small bench, but there are tables and chairs to set out on the sidewalk. Often I'm in the mood for a snack when I'm at Gantry, so this is a great place to get a pick-me-up! I know I'll be back! I came on a Friday at around 10:30 and already some of the items were sold out. I ordered the spinach ricotta swirl which was a great savory pastry. Even after sharing with my partner, we didn't finish it all in one sitting, it was that large! Staff was nice and you can sign up for the loyalty program with your phone number at the register.
google avatar

Yelp
Tried their summer night menu for the first time. The cake was delicious and the service was really amazing (got a sample of their pistachio and banana soft serves, which were also delicious)!
google avatar

Ilana Z.

Yelp
Cute bakery right by our apartment. Stopped by to get a plain croissant ($5). It was flaky and super buttery, but pretty pricey. The other pastries looked good too, esp the almond croissant. Would come back to try some more but wouldn't be in a rush to.
google avatar

Yelp
Visited this wonderful bakery yesterday at 2 in the afternoon, what I found was a almond slice of heaven. For 7 dollars you get a flakey pastry that just may be the best I have ever tasted. Stuffed with almond custard that pours out when you take a taste of heaven! You feel like you are in a special place with all the delicious pastries available. Definitely worth the money with top notch ingredients and it shows. The girl that waited on me was extremely helpful in choosing the right choice to sample. All in all a very positive and tasty experience!

Yelp
Everything here is delicious! Their monthly specials are always really unique and I've yet to try one that I didn't like. My favorite things to order are the spinach ricotta swirl and the soft serve.

Yelp
easily my favorite bakery in Astoria /LIC the croissants are incredible. Always an amazing selection + the ice cream and coffee are so good ! 10/10 always recommend. Plus the service is top notch and The design of the bakery is fantastic!

Yelp
I love how this bakery is so close to my Apt and the almond croissants are DELICIOUS. I have to pass by here every morning as I head to the hunters point ferry... and while I'm waiting to start my hectic day...that almond croissant helps make my commute a lil' sweeter. The staff is awesome too, very helpful when I have a question on a new pastry or coffee drink. Great location, awesome pastries and good ambiance.

Demetria P.

Yelp
Amazing pastries and so many choices!! They have sweet and savory food which I loved. Their coffee is really good too and I love that they have ice cream, most places don't have this many options. The employees are all so nice and attentive. It is a really cute place with a great vibe. My favorites are the chocolate croissant and the chicken sandwich
google avatar

Kaylee S.

Yelp
So delicious!! The pastries seem pricey but they are actually quite substantial. I have had the Tahini/Black Sesame pastry, the Pain Suisse, and the Prosciutto Lattice... they were all great but the Tahini/Sesame was on a different level - so good!! Would get an espresso drink but not the drip coffee (just a heads up)!! Very nice staff!!

Bridget M.

Yelp
Delicious treats, friendly service, homey neighborhood shop vibes. Will be returning.
google avatar

Fanny C.

Yelp
Small cute spot. The best chocolate croissant I've ever had - buttery, flakey, rich, so good! Everything else is okay. I didn't care for their chocolate chip cookie or passion fruit dessert though.

John B.

Yelp
Simply the best. Best in customer service & all around bakery. Endless options from sweet to savory - including cakes and some of the best soft serve ice cream around. Highly recommend

Klayvee V.

Yelp
Awesome croissants, so crunchy on the outside but perfectly soft and airy on the inside. The head baker is a true culinary genius with a flavor for any palate from simple to complex. Service is great and ambiance is super cute. The interior is clean, well designed, luxurious and functional, it always feels special going in for a sweet treat. 11/10 would croissant again

Steveo D.

Yelp
Very classy. The staff are very knowledgeable of all pastries all over the world. They strive for perfection with their handmade items. You can taste the quality in the coffee is immaculate. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. Great place.

Jonathan F.

Yelp
This place has amazing baked goods and outstanding service. The staff is very welcoming, and always helpful with recommendations. Everything I've tried has been delicious and clearly made with care! My favorite is the chocolate croissants! A must visit for anyone who loves quality baked treats!

Nick ..

Yelp
Best bakery in Queens hands down. Everything is made fresh on site! The staff is super friendly and welcoming.

Banksy S.

Yelp
This place barely can make a coffee beverage. Come for the pastries. if you have 15 minutes to wait for a latte, then order a latte. Overall, I see this place being replaced relatively soon by another business.

Maria D.

Yelp
These croissants are the best I've had. The almond is my favorite but they have so many options to choose from. Their coffee is delicious and my kids love getting their little cup of ice cream when we go. The bakery is clean, beautiful design and staff is so nice. Just what we needed in LIC!

Nicole C.

Yelp
AMAZING almond croissant! The corridors was a bit sweet, but still smooth. The pistachio lattice was a bit of a letdown. I had high expectations because I love pistachio anything, but it tasted a bit stale in comparison to the almond croissant-which again, was perfection! It wasn't bad per se. Lastly, I wish this place could accommodate tables and chairs. There were two small tables outside, but they only sit two each.
