"Aside from Bellwether BBQ, Son Of A Butcher in Eastlake is one of the only great places for Korean BBQ in Seattle proper. Here, you can slap a giant bone-in short rib on the grill while J. Cole blasts and soju pours, all without leaving city limits. The best way to go is to order a couple of meats a la carte—like beef bulgogi and hickory smoked pork belly—and lean into their sides. We’re fans of the delicate tobiko-topped egg souffle, kimchi pancake with crispy edges, and torched cheese corn that we may have contemplated stuffing into our bags for later. " - kayla sager riley

"The first thing you should know about Son Of A Butcher is that their online waitlist system is a total sh*tshow. It’ll ask you to come to the restaurant in an hour and then have your table become available (and then given away) in five minutes. But we can’t help but love this Korean BBQ spot anyways. They make great cocktails and have a ton of different meats that you can choose to grill, like marinated beef bulgogi or an entire ribeye. However, some of the best things here don’t involve red meat at all - we’re fans of the steamed egg with tobiko, spicy chicken with rice cakes and sweet potato, and the comforting tofu soup." - aimee rizzo

"Son of a Butcher is a new Korean barbecue restaurant in Eastlake that has replaced Dad’s Diner. It serves dishes like chicken wings, bibimbap, and japchae, with tabletop grills for cooking vegetables and meat like short ribs, pork belly, and bulgogi beef. The restaurant is receiving rave reviews on Yelp, averaging a five-star rating with 12 reviews so far. Diners praise the service, decor, food, and prices." - Megan Hill

Really good Korean BBQ place! Staff were super friendly, we went there a bit early for dinner so it was not crowded at all. Food was delicious! A very big variety of meats and drinks. Quality and taste were amazing. Overall, a really good value and a great place to hang out with friends for some food and drinks. The bulgogi was my favorite.

This place was actually pretty impressive. Any new ish Korean bbq places are usually super over priced and the food quality suffers. Not the case here. Food quality was great, service was good as well, there was a bit of a wait for a table but not long. Prices are higher than your average kbbq places but I think it’s worth going back to. Drinks are extra strong, almost too strong lol.

Probably one of the best korean bbq places out there. They even have beef large intestines! The meat is so fresh and the banchans are refillable. Not all-you-can-eat but the combo is really good price for 4-5 people. We ordered a beef + pork combo with a kimchi pancake (the kimchi pancake was awesome!!) and we couldn’t finish everything and had to take some home. Overall very recommended!

Honestly, the reviews are so mixed so we weren’t sure what to expect. Korean BBQ is our favorite meal together - we have a favorite spot in our hometown of Chicago that we used to go to like once a week and a spot we regularly frequent in NYC whenever we visit. I don’t know if I’d put this on our top 5 best KBBQ spots but maybe top 10! The quality of meat was great, good soju selection, pretty good service, loved the side dishes, no complaints here. I’m not sure why there are some bad reviews about meat quality… maybe they had an off night? All the meats were good. Did not disappoint. I’d say the service is similar to what you’d expect for an average KBBQ spot, maybe slightly expensive for what it is portion wise but I won’t knock a star off for it. If you love KBBQ give it a shot.

This was our second time here and both times we really enjoyed ourselves! The meats were all high quality and super tasty and all the banchan is really good as well- especially the salad they give you. We got the scallion pancake and kimchi fried rice as sides and both were really great too. The servers were all very kind and attentive too! We were a group of 6 and spent about $50 per person including tip- we got 3 dishes and 4 different types of meat which was more than enough for all of us.

I have been going to the owners parents restaurant for over a decade. This Korean bbq has some of the same recipes and is absolutely delicious. Generous portion sizes, side dishes are on point, service is excellent , and most importantly ownership appreciates your business. I highly recommend them for local KBbq.

The vibe and the food are great. It's a small place with just a few tables. We visited there at around 5 pm on the weekend and had to wait for a table for about 10 min, which is not too bad. They serve both single dishes like tofu soup and cold noodles as well as Korean BBQ. I recommend their BBQ for the quality of the meat. However, it's not cheap. We had for people and the whole meal was $110. We ordered 3 different meat, 1 seafood pancake, and a steamed egg. The size portion was not too big. Overall, a great BBQ place to try!

This is a great place to kick back with a small group, eat tasty, authentic food, and drink. They’re fairly popular, so you’ll want to make reservations or put your name down for a table. It’s pricey in comparison to an All You Can Eat place, focusing on higher quality dishes. If you’re looking to stuff yourself, check out Palace in Bellevue. However, they stock a lot of authentic dishes, and cuts of meat that you don’t find outside of Korea (moksal, gopchang).
