The Best Korean BBQ In Seattle

"Aside from Bellwether BBQ, Son Of A Butcher in Eastlake is one of the only great places for Korean BBQ in Seattle proper. Here, you can slap a giant bone-in short rib on the grill while J. Cole blasts and soju pours, all without leaving city limits. The best way to go is to order a couple of meats a la carte—like beef bulgogi and hickory smoked pork belly—and lean into their sides. We’re fans of the delicate tobiko-topped egg souffle, kimchi pancake with crispy edges, and torched cheese corn that we may have contemplated stuffing into our bags for later. " - kayla sager riley

Where To Eat & Drink In Eastlake

"The first thing you should know about Son Of A Butcher is that their online waitlist system is a total sh*tshow. It’ll ask you to come to the restaurant in an hour and then have your table become available (and then given away) in five minutes. But we can’t help but love this Korean BBQ spot anyways. They make great cocktails and have a ton of different meats that you can choose to grill, like marinated beef bulgogi or an entire ribeye. However, some of the best things here don’t involve red meat at all - we’re fans of the steamed egg with tobiko, spicy chicken with rice cakes and sweet potato, and the comforting tofu soup." - aimee rizzo

Google
The venue has limited parking outside, and is very clean and welcoming. We ordered the pork combo and there was a lot of food. Our favourite cut was actually the spicy ribs, they were super tasty, while other cuts were nice it didn't stand out. The service was excellent, friendly and attentive. However the bill was very high, it came to just over $100 per person, also watch out for the suggested tip calculation, they calculated based on total after tax, but it should've been total before tax.

Google
I ordered the baby back rips sweet and spicy flavor but they had NO SPICE at all, like nothing. It was all sweet I asked if they had a spicy sauce or something like this and they said no I asked twice because I’m like Korean restaurant no spicy, 🌶️ so I asked for chili flakes and they said no to that too. I was alone sitting at the bar so I felt humiliated I was so nice too. It was upsetting since I live so close. As a Mexican this is just disrespectful how am I supposed to eat my food. I asked for a box to go I guess I’ll reheat this and add my own spice. Like never ever in my life has a restaurant said no we don’t have ANYTHING spicy we can give you… Zero effort.

Google
Fantastic service. The staff consistently checked in to ensure we had everything we needed. The quality of the meat was excellent, especially the ribeye (Galbi), which, while on the pricier side, was very well-prepared and flavorful. I understand that Korean BBQ tends to be on the expensive side, likely due to general supply factors, rather than specific to this restaurant. We also loved the atmosphere and lighting, which transported us back to Korea. While the steamed egg tasted a bit burnt, the salad dressing was a standout. Overall, a satisfying dining experience.

Google
This place was actually pretty impressive. Any new ish Korean bbq places are usually super over priced and the food quality suffers. Not the case here. Food quality was great, service was good as well, there was a bit of a wait for a table but not long. Prices are higher than your average kbbq places but I think it’s worth going back to. Drinks are extra strong, almost too strong lol.

Google
Really good Korean BBQ place! Staff were super friendly, we went there a bit early for dinner so it was not crowded at all. Food was delicious! A very big variety of meats and drinks. Quality and taste were amazing. Overall, a really good value and a great place to hang out with friends for some food and drinks. The bulgogi was my favorite.

Google
The vibe and the food are great. It's a small place with just a few tables. We visited there at around 5 pm on the weekend and had to wait for a table for about 10 min, which is not too bad. They serve both single dishes like tofu soup and cold noodles as well as Korean BBQ. I recommend their BBQ for the quality of the meat. However, it's not cheap. We had for people and the whole meal was $110. We ordered 3 different meat, 1 seafood pancake, and a steamed egg. The size portion was not too big. Overall, a great BBQ place to try!

Google
Probably one of the best korean bbq places out there. They even have beef large intestines! The meat is so fresh and the banchans are refillable. Not all-you-can-eat but the combo is really good price for 4-5 people. We ordered a beef + pork combo with a kimchi pancake (the kimchi pancake was awesome!!) and we couldn’t finish everything and had to take some home. Overall very recommended!

Google
This is a great place to kick back with a small group, eat tasty, authentic food, and drink. They’re fairly popular, so you’ll want to make reservations or put your name down for a table. It’s pricey in comparison to an All You Can Eat place, focusing on higher quality dishes. If you’re looking to stuff yourself, check out Palace in Bellevue. However, they stock a lot of authentic dishes, and cuts of meat that you don’t find outside of Korea (moksal, gopchang).

Yelp
Arrived around 6p on a Thursday night and narrowly missed happy hour! The happy hour deals provide discount for meats, drinks, and apps, so I wish we got here slightly earlier! Regardless, we ordered the steam egg, corn cheese, 2 briskets, and a pork belly. Personally, I didn't love the pork belly because of how fatty it was (not a quality issue) and everything else was great. The server put in 2 orders of brisket despite us ordering only 1, so it was pretty awkward when he asked if we wantsd them to take it back or keep it and pay more. Seemed a bit odd since it was t our mistake! He was nice though and offered us drinks -- we got two draft beers. Nice touch! The banchan selection was decent and had a lot of variety, but it lacked my favorites (bean sprouts and broccoli). For ~$180 out the door, it felt a bit steep, but the food was overall good and the servers were nice!

Yelp
I have been here 2 times maybe. The vibe is pretty modern inside but pretty slow The meat is too mid for the price, pretty expensive. The kimchi tho I have to say, it's very sour, like way too fermented. I don't really like the grill because it's sticking my meat to it when grilling. The service is nice tho, staff is very helpful and checking on often. I don't think I will come back anytime soon!

Yelp
The only Korean BBQ place I've ever tried, but it was good. A little on the pricier side and the restaurant felt a bit overcrowded with tables and chairs. The space definitely didn't feel big enough. Our table also felt a little rushed by the staff. I'd like to try Korean BBQ at other restaurants so I can do a true comparison.

Yelp
This place was pretty good! It's not all you can eat so it can be pricey, but for special occasions is not bad. We got the beef and pork combo. Decent amount of side dishes. The japchae was really good and chewy. Ddukbokki was pretty good.

Yelp
5 star for the freshness, service and location! Craving Korean BBQ at 8pm but don't want to drive to federal way or Lynnwood so we came to try Son of a Butcher. Now I wonder why I didn't make it to this place earlier! Food was fresh and tasty. Service was great! A bit pricey yes but it is in line with seattle prices. Can't beat what you get - satisfaction. Convenient location. What a gem!

Yelp
Made a reservation day of and was able to get a table on a Saturday night. Just flag down a worker when you need something and they are quick to help grab it. Beef combo + extra rib eye: a whopping total of $160 for about 5 people. Pretty pricey imo for what you get. Enjoyed the steamed egg, banchan, and sauces that were provided overall the best meat was the brisket.

Yelp
Came here as a family of 6. The waiter suggested a family plate which was about $200ish. But we didn't take it because it seemed that half the dishes were dessert items. We ordered a chicken, a beef, and a pork belly. It same in a medium plate with some veggies. The food price was about $160. After tax and an automatic gratitude of 25% (about $69 tips) because there were 6 of us, it was almost $250. We left there hungry because there were barely any food. We get charged almost $70 to cook our own food. We felt ripped off. We told our friends and relatives about the experience and would never visit this place again. Much better to eat at an AYCE BBQ place. The next night we ate at the Sumo Sushi and Grill which was AYCE and near the area and it was cheaper and much more variety of food and free drinks.

Yelp
Pros: great location in Eastlake, plenty of street parking, good vibe inside, friendly staff and meat quality is high as are all the banchan side dishes. Prices are awesome for the quality you get. Cons: light is a touch low so it's a little hard to ascertain how much you're cooking your meats. It's on the small side so call and make a resy. It's a leisurely Korean BBQ dinner, take your time and bring friends!

Yelp
I should have trusted yelp - mediocre meat quality with minimal seasoning set in a nice clean environment. Service was minimal and sterile, but that's pretty much the new norm these days. Banchan was minimal and meh. White rice was extra!!!! Poor value and meat quality. Woobling beats it on meat quality and Hae Song and Exit 5 beat it on flavor.

Yelp
The worst customer experience ever! I don't know if the server was trying to save face cuz maybe his parents were there but no! He put in a wrong order of my soup....nvr tried to correct it and then charged me for what I initially ordered. Then preceded to charge me for all items when I said I'll eat the cost of the misunderstanding but than charged me for all 3 items I was trying to spend 30 to go but you charged me 90 for stuff I didn't want no thank you l

Yelp
We came (around 9:25PM) because it was open late (until 11PM) and we were craving for KBBQ! Heard this place was authentic and good quality. We ordered the Volcano Steam Egg, Beef Intestine, Beef Tongue, and Pork Jowl. Overall the meat quality was really good. The intestines were cleaned well and it tasted like butter melting in your mouth. The environment was spacious and clean. Friendly staff but they didn't cook for us. Overall I thought the food was good but it was a bit more expensive compared to many other Korean restaurants (with soju, each of us two paid $80+ after taxes and tips), and I was hoping they could cook for us.

Yelp
The service was incredibly disappointing, and the food quality was just as bad. Definitely not worth the visit. I expected much better.

Yelp
SOB is a MUST try in Seattle if you love KBBQ! When you think of Seattle, you wouldn't associate it with KBBQ like Downtown LA but this spot has delicious food and hip music! We walked in about 8pm last Saturday and was asked if we had reservations. Interesting because I did call weeks ago to try to reserve for dinner and was told NO reservations for party of 2 so strange that the guy even asked! He told us to have a seat at the bar and will clean up a few tables for us. Within 5 mins, we were seated in a small table in the back of the restaurant. You would scan the QR code for the menu. We ordered the Beef Combo which is more than enough food for two people. We actually took food to go and had lunch the next day! The beef Combo consisted of: Ribeye, Brisket, Bulgogi, Steamed Egg, Cheese Fondue, Dwenjang Jjigae ($110). You can order a la carte as well with a plate of meat averaging $32 a dish, which more on the expensive side. It is good quality meats though so you get what you pay for! The Combo is more cost effective and you get more side dishes, veggies, salads, etc. The banchans come separately as well. So you have plenty to munch on while you wait for your meats to cook! The brisket was the winner of the night! So soft with just a hint of fat. All their meats are very lean. The veggies was a nice touch especially the asparagus which I have never seen before at Kbbq places. They also had mushrooms, tomatoes and onions you can grill. The steamed egg was also the bomb! Make sure you ask for bowls of rice to enjoy with your meats!

Yelp
My husband and I tried to make a reservation, but were told we couldn't because we were just two people. That wasn't an issue for us. However, when we arrived at 7pm, they asked my husband if we had a reservation for two...of course we didn't since we were told we couldn't. Then, we were told it would be a 20-30 min wait, so my husband gave his name and we decided to walk around the block. We got back in 15 min...but they had already given our table away. We were seated shortly afterwards. Let me say that I was excited to find a place that served dakgalbi similar to how they do in Korea, so I was really disappointed when we sat down and the waiter said they weren't serving it...I mean, we drove up from Kent for it. Nonetheless, we ordered the yukhoe, kote pork, and bulgogi since we were already there. There, my friends, is their saving grace. The quality of the meat was good and matched the price point. So, they got some points back for that. Overall, I give it 3.5 stars. Maybe it was an off day. Would I go back again? Maybe when they for sure have dakgalbi.

Yelp
This Kbbq restaurant came highly recommended by our friends. The exact words were "You need to call in for a reservation they can get very busy." Following that advice, I called in for a reservation for 4 on a Thursday. This restaurant is located in a small business strip on Eastlake. Parking, if any are available, is limited and we opted for street parking. Walking in the restaurant, we couldn't smell the ubiquitous charred barbeque scent that normally sticks to clothes. That 's a testament to how well the space was ventilated. Each table has it's own adjustable exhaust fan and an induction grill. One of the things I like about Son of A Butcher is their menu selection. The combo were a good value and made for an easy decision. I also appreciate that their alcohol is not limited to Soju or Sake. I ordered an Old Fashioned, dumplings, and opted for the beef and pork combo (which serves 4). The combo meal comes with the standard banchans, steamed egg, cheese fondue, salad, soup (we picked the dwenjang jjige), and a half sheet tray assortment of pork and beef cuts. The meat tray consisted of ribeye, brisket, pork belly, pork jowl, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, onion slice, and asparagus. We grilled the non-marinated meats first and ended with the brisket. The meats were high quality and had beautiful marbling. Service was fast, however not frequent. It was difficult to get water refills or order more items. Overall, I think this restaurant has reasonable pricing and quality cuts. The combos makes for easy selection and cocktail/spirits list is more than what I've encountered at other Kbbq spots.

Yelp
After trying so many Korean barbecues in Seattle, I finally got to check this place out! We arrived at 5pm and got lucky with seating. We ordered beef brisket and ttheokbokki (soy beef flavor). Food was great but my favorite was the ttheokbokki! It's fairly rare to find variations of ttheokbokki outside of the traditional gochujang flavor so I was quite excited to try it.

Yelp
Great cuts of meat, above average service for a Korean bbq. The marinated pork was phenomenal. I really can't complain about this food, the egg soufflé dish was my favorite. The only issue was it's 30 degrees outside in Washington and when you leave the door open it's freezing! I will return, just maybe in the summer lol.

Yelp
Especially growing up in Los Angeles, I have very high expectations of Korean BBQ, and this place is quite decent with that standard. However, my experience overall is a bit mixed, but it was otherwise overall positive. My friends drove to the Eastlake neighborhood and the parking situation for this restaurant is definitely quite challenging, but we were able to be creative like other cars and parked in a makeshift area of the parking lot, legitimately of course. We made reservations for 4 people at 8pm same day, and I highly recommend doing so, as the restaurant is quite small. We got served some banchan, such as bean sprouts, fish cakes, kimchi, mashed potato, broccoli with gochujang, pickled onions, to name a few. What irritates me is that you only get one free refill of the banchan, and any extra you need to pay extra. What restaurant does that?? But, they were nice enough to give large quantities of banchan so that 2 complimentary servings of each is a decent amount. We ordered a pork combo and an a la carte beef brisket. Pork combo comes with pork belly, pork jowl, pork kalbi, a bunch of vegetables (e.g., asparagus, mushroom, cherry tomatoes, onion), steamed egg (which was quite good, with some tamago), soybean stew (a bit salty, but hearty), and cheese fondue (not corn cheese...). It also came with a large bowl of salad, which I ate the whole thing myself as none of my friends really wanted salad - it was quite delicious though there was not much dressing. The grill is electric grill??? Like, that kind of is a bit iffy as we know fire is an essential element for great KBBQ. Also, the grill is not oiled enough so the initial batch of meat stuck to the grill and it was a bit of a struggle to take it out. However, the grill is definitely hot enough for a decent substitute, but it just doesn't really taste the same. I guess the positive is that it is much harder to burn the meat. The pork without any sauce is still flavorful, though I expected a bit more in quality of the cuts for the price we paid. On the other hand, the beef brisket is amazing - juicy and with just the right amount of fat. The marinated pork was a nice finish to the meal, though the sauce was a bit on the sweeter side. Service is okay - whenever we flagged down the waiter, he was able to refill water in a timely manner. Food overall is decent given it is an electric grill. Pricewise, we ended up paying around $40 per person after tax and tip, which is decent - a fraction of the price of Meet in Capitol Hill, though definitely not as upscale. I wish there were more places like this one, but with actual fire grill, at this price range, in the Seattle area, but Federal Way / Lynnwood might be the way to go, if not flying back to Los Angeles.

Yelp
A group of us went there for a friend's birthday. The service was...odd. They seemed surprised that we were there (despite having a reservation) and seemed surprised that we would ask for another grill for a table of 6. The food was good, but not very seasoned. They also took the liberty of adding a pretty sizable gratuity to the check (18 or 20%) despite there not being a note about it on the menu as of early 2024.

Yelp
SOB was a nice, relaxed Korean BBQ experience. The drinks were good and strong and the staff were super friendly. We ordered the baby back ribs, corn cheese and cheese fondue to start and each were delicious. For main course, we had the beef and pork combo with bulgogi. There portions were good for 2-3 people. The quality of meat was good and everything was fresh. We had a good time and would definitely return.

Yelp
By far one of my favorite KBBQ spots in Seattle! The meat quality is top notch. I love their sauces and side dishes, they complement the meal perfectly. The servers were very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was lively, making it a great dining experience every time. The price is on the higher side, but it's definitely worth it for the quality. Highly recommend.

Jayd K.

Yelp
Food&service just OK for what you pay. It was clean and fairly quiet. Meat quality is not the best

Yelp
Best Kbbq option in Seattle! I'm very picky when it comes to Korean food (was spoiled by LA's Koreatown) but this was my by far my favorite kbbq experience in Seattle. The quality of the meats and banchan were all 10/10. For two people we ordered the marinated short rib/kalbi, thick porkbelly, 2 bowls of rice, corn cheese, steam egg, 1 terra (beer), 1 (jinro) and the total was around $120 after tip. Servers were all very attentive and friendly. Price is a little steep but the high quality of the meat makes it worth it. I wouldn't mind coming back to try other items on the menu. I would highly recommend making a reservation because they get pretty busy.

Yelp
Tried it due to hearing good reviews, would not go again. It was an expensive meal for not a lot of meat compared to other korean bbq places, I'd rather pay for an unlimited KBBQ next time. The combo comes with a lot of fillers such as cheese fondue, steamed egg (burnt on the bottom), kimchi soup (probably the only part I'd eat), and salad (which are not worth paying for in my opinion) - and only three meats. The steak is the most filling part but usually even at hotpot I'd have way more meat in front of me. I also had a contradicting experience because one of the workers was really kind and would check in with a smile to see how things were, and another would very aggressively come by to tell us we were cooking things wrong - my friend and I had been chatting when the food got to the table and then the guy came back not long after to tell us we needed to put the meat on the grill (talking to us as if neither of us had ever done kbbq before) and then proceeded to just do it for us without even asking which we wanted to cook first. There was also butter meant for the ribeye but I wanted to make sure the pan was well oiled first and also because I like cooking with butter, but he took the butter off the grill (again without asking) and told us it was for the ribeye only. Then he came by while we had just taken off the first meats and he told us we were going to burn the grill (instead of just turning down the heat) and put our ribeye on - which I did not appreciate because those don't need to cook that long if I want it medium rare, and we were still eating and not ready for the next meat. When he left i took the ribeye back off and turned the heat down until we were ready for it, but at this point it had messed up my cooking process and after I wasnt able to cook my ribeye how I liked and somewhat overcooked because I had to wait longer for it to heat to the center when I put it back on since the outer part of the meat had cooled down. He also just had a demeanor of annoyance towards us for looking like we had no idea what we were doing even though we just wanted to enjoy our meal and eat at our own pace. We are paying to cook our own meal already so I don't understand why he was being so pushy. Overall the food was okay- dipping sauces were decent/standard, but its not like you pay for prepared meats so you cook and salt it on your own (other than specifically marinated dishes which was 1 of 3 meats) - and I didnt love any of the banchan. Kimchi was my least favorite (tasted like the Costco Jongga kimchi which has too acidic/fermented/imbalanced flavors), the potato salad was too sweet for both of our liking, and there were also marinated cilantro (which was interesting..? never seen that before at a korean restaurant), sliced onions (which was the favorite), bean sprouts (but which the mung bean which I don't prefer), and I think I remember one other veggie. Side note, it's busy so be sure to make a reservation or you might have to wait a while for limited walk in seats. We were there right at opening and there were people in front of us who had just filled up those seats before us.

Jessica L.

Yelp
The place is very small inside so it's best to make reservations ahead of time so you don't have to wait! Starting off with the corn cheese, it was yummy and cooked to perfection. We got the beef combo ($100). It comes with a lot of sides, soup, and a big bowl of salad. I thought it wasn't going to be enough for 3 people but it was more than enough. The quality of the meat was delicious!! I wish the sides were better, I only enjoyed the kimchi and bean sprouts. The amount of food they bring out, the table should be bigger because it was hard to eat when everything was cramped together.

Yelp
This is the best Korean BBQ experience in Seattle for many reasons in the opinion of my wife and I. The food, the people who work here, the ambiance and music; all top notch and 100% wonderful. If my wife and I could simplify down our experience in coming here and explain it, we would just say that we feel really happy and cared for when we're here. Secondly, the food is absolutely incredible. There are many places you go once and thats great but SOB is the spot to be a patron of and enjoy regularly. Come peep game at this great spot and make sure to get the pork shoulder. Secret special spicy habanero sauce for those who appreciate heat, is crucial.

Yelp
I went here last night with my family, we were a party of 6 and got sat right away. The service was prompt and extremely friendly. The food was amazing, great meat. We ordered pork belly, beef bulgolgi, pork shoulder, and beef kalbi. We will be back! Thank you SOB!!

Yelp
Overall, this place is not bad and they give you a lot of food. The quality of meat was actually 10/10, the issue is that it's pretty expensive for the quantity. The stew was a bit salty for my taste but it wasn't too bad. The side dishes, especially the pickled radishes are TO DIE FOR ! Apart from the food, service was good and the waiters where attentive. Another issue that we had was that the table was a bit small for 4 people so we often had to rearrange the table to fit new food. This place is definitely a great Korean bbq place but I believe that it is a bit expensive for the portions, if you have the $$$ def go, otherwise I suggest maybe going to somewhere more cost friendly

Yelp
My mouth is watering just thinking about this place! I recommend making reservations, just because there is limited seating. Staff were all super nice and attentive (sometimes too much), portion sizes were good, and banchan was delicious! There were 2 of us at the table, we were sat near the restroom and across from the bar where all the servers hung out so it was a little uncomfortable because we felt all eyes watching us eat. I don't know if a reservation is needed for a small party, but I'd recommend it, especially on the weekends. We decided to order individual meats instead of a combo since we don't like all the meats included in the combo. We got the pork jowl, beef brisket, and large beef intestine. Pork jowl and the beef intestine are very fatty, so beware if you've never had either of those before. This was a different experience because I'm used to having my intestine cut for me but here, they leave it whole so it was pretty difficult to cook. We also ordered the steamed egg and corn cheese, because I can never have Kbbq either. Although the corn cheese was really good and I'd recommend, the egg was disappointing. I like the addition of red masago on top for crunch, but the egg was flavorless and a little more burnt than I like. All in all, a good meal but this wouldn't be my first choice to go back to get Kbbq.

Yelp
I recently visited Son of a Butcher! I've driven past it so many times and was excited to finally try it. They have a decent variety of meats and dishes. I really enjoyed the hickory smoked pork belly and ribeye. When ordering meat, it comes with a small assortment of vegetables: mushrooms, tomatoes, asparagus, and onions. However, you have to order at least 2 orders of meat to grill at your table! They had a smoke absorber which made the experience better. My eyes are usually watering from the smoke, but not at this dinner. The meat came with a side salad as well. There was also a steak tartare that was interesting--first time I've had it with KBBQ. The meat was tossed with pears and other vegetables, making it very refreshing and helped to cut the heaviness of the kbbq meat. The banchan was also good. It included potato salad, broccoli salad, kimchi, fish cakes, and bean sprouts. Overall, I thought the experience was great. The staff was helpful and quick. The ambience gave me bar/nightlife vibes which was great for a night out. Their food was good enough for the price. I'm excited to take a look more closely at the menu the next time I come.

Yelp
We came to Son of A Butcher at 6:30 on Saturday, made reservations previously! The restaurant is really clean and it was packed! They have the ceiling vents you pull down, which was pretty cool! We wanted to order the dakgalbi but it was already sold out! We got the beef combo instead for four people! It came with a soybean stew and egg soufflé which were delicious! The beef itself was also good and it definitely filled us all up! They also give you sauces and sesame oil to dip the meat in, which was great! Overall had a good time, I wished they helped you grill some of the beef like the ribeye since it was huge and hard to figure out the best way to grill it. Price point wise, I would say it was slightly on the higher side but we left happy!

Yelp
Everything about this restaurant was great. The place was very clean. The staffs and greeter were very nice. Our waiter was awesome, the staff also worked as a team in bringing and cleaning up our food. The food was fresh and awesome. Then we also had cocktails, they were really good as well. Great atmosphere with really nice people. If you want to try good Korean BBQ, this place is the one you'd want to definitely try in Seattle area. FYI, this place is always packed (especially on weekends) and serves customers with reservations only. Table is served for only an hour and 30 min but it's enough time to finsh your meal. If you get lucky, you can walk on and get a table, but I would recommend calling them and make a reservation!

Yelp
I highly recommend making a reservation, the place is quite small & come 10 min early cause there is no parking! I've heard great things about this place so we decided to give it a go! Expect to spend more than usual because it is not AYCE. We got the beef combo, and extra meats beef tongue & marinated short ribs. The pictures are very deceiving, it doesn't look like much but it was more than enough for two. It came with a good amount of banchan, salad, melted cheese, tofu soup and a delicious fluffy egg which I love. FYI rice does not come with the meal. Everything was delicious, I really love the green dipping sauce. Overall it was a pretty good experience service could be a little bit better, other than that your paying quality over quantity definitely check it out if you're in the area!

Yelp
One of the best Korean BBQ spots I've been in Seattle. The meats were great quality and fresh. The sides were delicious. Some dishes were salty but it was good. Overall good experience and I think the beef combo is enough for 4 people.

Yelp
Reservation is recommended dining at Son of a Butcher during COVID-19! But luckily enough, I was able to snatch a table for 2 on a Friday at 7:45pm since I've tried calling their phone all day but no one picked up! So that knocked off 1 star for me as far as the inconvenience of not having an option to make reservations online or get better customer service. My date and I ordered 3 meat plates to barbecue in addition to a few drinks to pair well with our grilled meats! We chose pork belly- which comes as a long slab, you have to cut it yourself. Brisket was another favorite of ours and we gave the Kalbi Beef a try. It was all very delicious, good quality and more than enough to eat! I mean, who leaves a KBBQ spot still hungry? Especially when there's rice, house salad, banchan and a ton of meat! Luckily we didn't order tofu soup, japchae or the tempting volcano boiled egg appetizer. But I'll definitely be back to try it! Service is great when dining in. We asked for a couple of extra things: jalapeños, garlic for grilling and it came to our table quickly. Thank you to the staff for being attentive. Everyone is mindful of sanitation and space. Would highly recommend this spot for KBBQ!

Yelp
Taste: 3 Service: 4 Price: 3 Quantity: 4 Quality: 4 Summary: I thought this was was pretty okay, overall. The staff was kind and the atmosphere wasn't bad. The staff was great about getting us everything and checking on us in a timely manner. I didn't find that the stove tops cooked the meet all the great and the meat didn't really blow me away. We did the beef combo with pork belly and a side of cheesy corn. To be clear, it wasn't bad, but I also wasn't craving the next bite uncontrollably. Would I go back? Maybe if some friends made a reservation or if we HAD to have kbbq and other places were booked up but I thought this was a little on the pricier side, all things considered.

Yelp
this is one of the better quality Korean barbecue spots that I've had in Seattle. The prices are a bit expensive but I think it's really worth it for what you're paying with the quality of the meat. I love the sides I like that it's not all you can eat because you can choose exactly what you want. I like the spot.

Yelp
I've eaten at better kbbq restaurants for half the price here. The meat here definitely high quality but everything else was very mediocre. Please make a reservation for this place. If you don't it will be very hard to get a table. Parking here so is very limited. Street parking will probably be a must. It was definitely a full house when we dined in. We ordered the beef combo (ribeye, bulgogi, brisket, steamed egg, soybean stew, cheese fondue), pork belly, corn cheese, and the dak gal bi. One of my favorite things about kbbq is the sides which was a disappointment here. The options are very minimum and the portions were small even for just three people. Only thing I really enjoyed was the kimchi. Definitely tasted fresh and homemade. The meat with the dipping sauces were great! Their sauces are definitely different from other places. The biggest regret is the dak gal bi. It was NOT edible at all. It did not taste good and it was 100% when I'm sure the dish was suppose to be hot. We all had one bite and that was it. It actually ruined our appetite. Service was decent but rather slow. We were checked on only twice. Once when we sat down and the second time when we're ready to pay. To be spending the kind of money that we did that night I had expected so much more. Sadly to say, this wouldn't be one of my Togo places for kbbq.

Yelp
Dropped by for dinner alone so I wasn't able to get the grill. Got the kimchi jiggae and it was pretty typical. Nothing special about it. There were little chunks of meat and it was a little spicier than other kimchi jjigae that I've had. The side dishes were also pretty mediocre. Nothing really stood out and it was just alright food.

Yelp
With the beef combo, you get bulgogi, beef ribeye and brisket. What's nice is that they use a induction stove for their bbq. With the ribeye, they use rosemary. The cheese fondue has cheese wiz and is covered in the cheap shredded mixed cheese. I ordered a side of sliced garlic as well as green grape soju. The cuts of meat are good but not as excellent as some LA kbbq places like Kang Ho Dong Baekeong. For Seattle kbbq it is good however I still prefer wood charcoal which is only done at Old Village in Shoreline. Soy garlic chicken had the light crispy batter. It was quite good.

Yelp
Somewhere between a 3+/4-. The cool: Pretty cool bathroom hallway full of superheros. Kind of random to see the different decor in different rooms and didnt seem to have a particular theme to it but there is at least a small bar to chill at when waiting for a table. Btw, there aren't a lot of tables and each has a 1.5hour time limit so a headsup you could be waiting for a while.. The interesting: The table air grill was mesmerizing...how that worked through their tables!? .. but its ingenious and makes sure you can use a table regularly or with a grill. Nice theres a retractable and adjustable vent to use or get out of the way as needed. The Food: for the 3 of us, we shared the beef combo since it seemed to come with the most variety and value, and the quality of meat was good and not frozen. Flavors were fine though the different dipping sauces made it better. Egg souffle and pajeon was enjoyed, especially that kimchi and potato salad!! Note that rice does not come with your meal and needs to be added to your order if you want some. Was also sad we couldn't sub out the soup for another soup for few more dollars but by the end, we found we were comfortably full and didn't even finish everything that came with the combo. The verdict: In the end, it is on the spendy side for non ACYE BBQ and I think there may be different prices posted in different places for the same thing so may want to clarify what the price is first before ordering.. but it is a decent option for Seattle.

Yelp
So happy to have found my new fav Korean restaurant in Seattle!!! The food here is most definitely comparable to the what you can get in LA K-town! Prices are a bit steeper, but I think the quality of meat more than compensates for the price. Keep in mind that only about around half the tables in the restaurant have a bbq grill option, so make sure to come early to beat the lines and/or put your party down on the Yelp waitlist! We came at ~5:15 on Saturday with a group of 5 and waited around an hour for our table. More on the food: The dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken) is a must order! It's a perfect balance of spicy, sweet, and savory, and I love how the chicken, veggies, and rice cake really soak up all the flavors of the sauce. My favorite part was defs the fried rice!! The fried rice + eggs marinate/cook up in the remainder of the dakgalbi sauce and make for a perfect end to the meal. I'm not typically too hyped for fried rice but honestly this sauce is like crack I couldn't get enough of it!   We also ordered the pork belly, and we were all so impressed by the quality! It had a very balanced meat to fat ratio and was insaanely tender/juicy. Would defs order this again as well! Alsoo loved their kimchi/other side dishes...we asked for at least 3 refills lol. If I could buy tubs of their kimchi I totally would! Overall, I would say the food at Son of a Butcher is 5/5, but I wasn't as pleased with the service... Servers were a bit inattentive, and often seemed confused when we asked questions about the menu. Still, this wouldn't stop me from coming back the next time I'm craving some quality kbbq!

Yelp
My go to line for places like this is "quality over quantity" since the automatic comparison is to cheaper AYCE KBBQ. But in actuality it's more like you get quality AND quantity here. We shared the beef combo between 3 people and it was more than enough food. Every cut of beef on the plate was delicious, high quality and tender. The banchans and soup was appreciated as well. I dock a star since the level of service provided was almost standoff-ish compared to the ajummas I'm used to at other places that at least start the grilling for you and come back to cut the meat when it's ready. We didn't get much guidance, which I would've liked a little bit for, at least for the whole ribeye steak.

Yelp
Thank goodness for the yelp waitlist! Signed into be put on the waitlist around 5pm (when they opened) and was told there would be a 30-40 minute wait. When we got there, we were actually seated almost right away so that was great! The prices are a little more on the pricey side for KBBQ and the meats were okay, could have been seasoned better in my opinion or even have better dipping sauces to help flavor the meat. The other entree/appetizers were my favorite! Cheese corn was soo good and same with the soup and omg the steamed egg!! If you like eggs then you HAVE to get this dish. There was so much flavor to it and the fish eggs added a nice texture to the dish overall as well! Probably would have given this place a 3 if it weren't for these delicious items.

Yelp
We wanted to take our friend out for his birthday and was excited to show him this place! Called to make a reservation for 630p, they said no but just walk in. I work in the industry and I understand when you're slammed and you can't get to us . But our server was forgetful and rude. We sat at 6:35p and didn't get greeted til 6:50p. He got our food order right, but our drinks took forever to come out cause he had to come back and ask us 3 times what we wanted to drink. The 3rd time he had to write it down "3 vodka sodas". But finally he said "no fountain soda," So, we just settled for a Kirin and Soju. We asked for rice and he didn't bring it out, we had to ask the other server and she brought it out when we finished cooking our brisket. Whenever we would ask him for anything, we would ask for one thing but he would just say "yeah ok." And quickly walk away, but we wanted more! He should ask "anything else?" Take everything and go. Increase sales and minimizes his steps. Then at 7:55p we were talking and had still some meat left, he came over and cut us off and said "You done? Cause the reservation for 8pm and is here waiting for this table." We didn't know there was a reservation waiting. It was off putting and rude and started taking things off the table with his Lysol wipes in hand. In the beginning they should have said "we'll sit you at this table, but there is a reservation at 8p, is that ok?" the food was good, but, unfortunately, the service and experience was terrible. Never coming back here. I left pissed.

Yelp
Recently went to Son of a Butcher for KBBQ with friends and it definitely lived up to the hype. Son of a Butcher reminds me of a SoCal KBBQ shop. Food: Son of a Butcher's banchon was very good and comes with refills as needed. Their beef tartare was one of my favorite dishes with it being season really well and more unique compared to other shops. Their smoked pork belly had a nice smokiness flavor and I didn't think it was too heavy from the fat. Their accompany sauces and dips definitely help cut the fat. Son of a Butcher isn't a big place so reservations are highly recommended. In terms of price, it is definitely more premium than any AYCE kbbq shop. You definitely come here when you want quality over quantity.

Yelp
Oh my! Hands down the best Korean BBQ I've had! My friends and I arrived at 8:45pm and was seated by 9:00pm. There wasn't a designated waiting area so we waited outside until our table was ready. We ordered the tteokbokki ($15), hikory porkbelly ($24) and beef combo ($90), which included ribeye, brisket, bulgogi, steamed egg, soybean stew, and cheese fondue. I'm not the biggest fan of porkbelly, but the hikory porkbelly here was a game changer!! To mention, the cheese fondue made everything taste 10x better. The amount we ordered was more than enough food and could've easily fed 4-5 people.

Yelp
Lots of my friends kept recommending this place so decided to give it a try! Definitely a solid KBBQ place -- not AYCE but a quality over quantity joint. My friend and I got the beef combo ($100) and it came with 3 cuts of meet, assorted veggies, steamed egg, cheese fondue, and soybean soup. Meat choices were steak, sliced beef and bulgogi. We also got a corn cheese on the side which was good, only ($9). The side dishes were okay, I think the only thing I really enjoyed was the kimchi. As far as the egg and soup, was also standard/decent and went well with the meal. The meat was fresh and they even give you butter and salt to season and cook the steak! So cool!!! Definitely can feed 3-4 people with a beef combo so recommend coming with more friends to split the cost. I thought everything was reasonably priced for a KBBQ place in Seattle but little on the more expensive side for the experience. We had to pay for rice lol....but our waiter was very attentive and got us what we needed quickly. Solid spot for dinner if you're in the area!

Yelp
So I tried this place on a whim...just driving by and wanted to try some Korean Food. It didn't disappoint. I had the soft tofu soup with all the sides, and it was awesome. I have had the soup at a lot of spots, and this one of the best. My server Carol was attentive and fun to chat with over a meal. I will be back to try more!
