The 15 Best Restaurants In Kendall

"This Kendall Cantonese restaurant serves dim sum every day from 11am to 3pm, but Saturday or Sunday is the best day to come for the full push cart experience. The big dining room has a 3D wall installation of two phoenixes looking over the lacquered dark wooden tables, where you’ll see a mix of abuelitas who lunch and aunties meeting for a cup of tea, a few bao, and some gossip. South Garden serves great baked roast pork buns with a generous amount of char siu filling, along with solid fun gor, which features a smooth, chewy skin concealing a crunchy pork and vegetable filling." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino

Google
Typical, but will return for the service. Decor, service and food are slightly above average. It’s pleasant, and staff are nice. Food is not greasy. A few dishes could have been hotter. Loose leave Jasmine tea is nice although I don’t taste jasmine but my taste is not all that sharp anyway. They slide the menu up front - maybe they expect you to order off it, even there are multiple carts circulating the room - the ladies all dressed in a burgundy color Chinese style top, which is neat and nice. One lady is clearly pretty old whom I found cute: she came to our table, open the covers of the dishes two at the time in her cart continuously until I signal the chicken feet. All the while she utters nothing. Yellowish 8 River hot pepper sauce is a discovery -:) Small plates - dim sum we’ve: 韭菜饺Chives cakes - bit cold and the shrimp is overcooked 凤爪Chicken feet - tender 虾饺 shrimp dumplings 烧卖 meat dumplings 肠粉 shrimp rice rolls 煎 Friend stick rice ball - bit cold and very little red bean paste - as most of other restaurants’. But I like their small size. Temperature is just right - I don’t have to wear a sweater or shawl: thanks for saving the energy.

Google
The food is very tasty and the portions are large. The dim sum is also very good. Hong style sweet and sour pork is the best.

Google
Went in there as they open up on Sunday at 1030am. I Was nicely greeted and sat down. The place looks very clean and well maintained. Lots of family style tables with a carousel in the middle, perfect for sharing dishes. Service was good , drinks were given right away and the dim sum cart was ready to go. Though all the servers were Asia (good sign)Everyone spoke English no issues. The standard expected dim sum were good and well made. I picked 8 plates and a hot tea that came out to about $35.00 USD. Not bad for Miami in 2023. Overall and nice casual dining experience. I will definitely go by there again but this time with a friend as the food was way too much for one person.

Google
I usually order take out but decided to dine in for dim sum. The food was delicious and service the service was pretty good too! Unsure when the space was updated but the decor is pleasant and the single restroom is spacious and clean. The only thing I wouldn't order again were the bbq ribs (they were out of char siu pork). They had great flavor but the meat was a bit hard. Everything was freshly made - including an off menu request and the entree portions were huge!

Google
Horrible service and food was not good. I was placing my order…… mid sentence the lady walked away to clean a table an take someone else’s order. I ordered a sczchaun beef combination. It comes with pork friend rice. The beef was super oily. And the fried rice was burnt white rice with no taste.whenni said something they were giving excuses about how they had run out of the “yellow rice” but I kept seeing orders of fried rice coming out and they looked good. She told me that I got that rice because I ordered a combination. Why offer fried rice with the combinations of your not gonna give it.

Joneric Martinez

Google
DO NOT.... I REPEAT, DO NOT COME HERE! Service was by far the worst I've ever had out of all the places I have dined in. The dumplings were cold, we saw our server only 2 times during the duration of our visit which was in the beginning and for the check. The dumpling servers with the carts are awful and one old lady was extremely racist. Although the prices were good, I'm sure I'd get better food and service from Popeyes. Go at your own risk.

Google
The food was fresh and absolutely delicious. Most of us had dim sum, but a friend had a steak that was plated into a sizzling skillet tableside, which looked amazing. I wish I didn't live so far, otherwise I'd be here all the time.

Google
Finally an autentique Chinese food place . Mostly of the dishes are Cantonese style . My favorite dishes was the beef chow fun and of course the ginger scallion lobster. The staff a really polite and receptive. THEY HAVE DIM SUM!!!!

Yelp
We came here for dim sum on a Saturday afternoon and had no problem getting a table. The carts were out and lots of delicious dim sum. We also got tea and they gave us water too. The prices were very reasonable for all we got. The soup dumplings weren't the best I had but were pretty good. The bao buns and dumplings were all very tasty. Ambiance was nice. It was clean and service was friendly and quick. I highly recommend for dim sum!

Yelp
I always use this restaurant because the location is very near to me. I only order chicken dishes usually szechuan chicken. for a change I ordered the beef instead. It was not fit for human consumption, little bits of meat so tough you couldn't chew it after a few tries it went into the garbage. I have been a regular customer for a long time and considered calling the owner to let him know. I didn't and now I feel as if he's lost my business. I'm sad, but the chicken dish was good.

Yelp
Another great date night. Shrimp chow mein and moo goo gaipan were a hit. Service prompt and courteous. Always fast staff like in Olympics.

Yelp
Well, I was in South Miami visiting family. So my family brought me to this place for some Dim sum. Here are my two cents about this place. Food: Quality-wise, not too bad. I ate something better before in Canada and New York. The lotus leaves sticky rice were plain and gross. The siu mai was okay. Shrimp dumplings were ok, the shrimps were good. One of the best things about this place, they serve their dim sum steaming hot on a dim sum cart! Their spicy chili sauce is good, but I wasn't sure if they're lao gan ma or homemade at all. Their soy sauce was a bit weird for my taste, not the usual flavor. Service: I would say everyone else was up to par and beyond. However, there was one dim sum lady always refused to serve the dim sum on her cart. And started yelling and commanding us to go back to our seats when we tried to wave her or went up to her. It's very disturbing! Ambiance: very authentic dim sum house, loud and bright, crowded with Chinese people screaming in Chinese! When you see a bunch of Chinese people screaming and talking in a dim sum place, you know this place is legit! The place seems like it was recently renovated, so everything seems new!

Yelp
Nine of us came for a birthday celebration today. We ordered a bunch of dim sum items like the shrimp dumplings, leek dumplings, the pork & shrimp dumplings, the ribs in black bean sauce, the fried football dumplings with meat inside, fried shrimp things, some kind of crispy spring rolls & egg custard tarts. From the kitchen, we ordered: Pan fried noodles with beef with double noodles Salt & pepper squid heads Snow pea tips with garlic 1/2 roast duck Everything was fresh & delicious. Sometimes the squid is too salty but it was perfect today!

Yelp
GOOD Chinese food! This place has such a good menu and delicious food. They have so many different plates to choose from and even have a vegetarian section. All the appetizers are shareable. The entrees are shareable too! I was able to try a little bit of everything since I was with a big group of people. My favorite dishes included the Jellyfish appetizer and the Tofu with shrimp and egg. We did wait a while for the food but it was definitely worth it and I would come back again!

Yelp
Best dimsum in south florida. As someone from the DMV area good dimsum is rare in miami. This one is affordable and there are carts rolling around frequently. Dimsum is usually a weekend brunch time activity. So it can be chaotic on the weekends. Restaurant is nicely renovated and is very open. You don't have to be super polite to ask for what you want. If you see the cart ladies near by just get their attention and pick what you want. There are 3 main carts (the ones wearing the red shirts). One is for the fried stuff and the other 2 are different steamed options. The ones in the yellow shirt help with getting you water and ordering off the menu. I recommend the walnut shrimp for the off menu items. I've tried tropical and konchau. They have slightly different things but I would still rather go to South Garden.

Yelp
I have been coming to south garden for over 10 years easy. This is my go to authentic delicious fresh dim sum. Service is friendly. I usually eat in and enjoy the carts but recently have been taking out which is so great and convenient. Love this place!
google avatar

Yelp
This is my to go dim sum/ yam cha place in the kendall area. I love seen the carts on the weekends since this tradition is almost going away. I love the show my kids that dim sum in carts still available. The dim sum is more affordable compared to the other dim sum places in the Miami area. I love the updated the place, it looks bigger and cleaner. The servers are great, the ladies pushing the cart might have their personality but don't take it personal, at least they are improving on the attitude. This is a great place to meet with your family.

Yelp
South Garden was excellent. I live near this restaurant but had never been here before. I am gladly surprised by its quality and flavors. South Garden is an authentic Chinese restaurant. Great menu, great service, and great prices. Menu has a little for everyone... but there are certainly some dishes that are a staple of good Chinese cooking. Bitter melon beef. (Not in the menu) it is awesome. Szechuan cuisine is present and has some great dishes. I think Dim Sum is one of their best days, but I haven't tried it. Hopefully, soon, I'll be able to get a taste of it. It's definitely a place to try.

Yelp
This restaurant offers a relaxed ambiance and tasty Chinese cuisine. I highly recommend the shumai, fried shrimp ball, and special fried rice. The service, especially during the Sunday Chinese cart experience, is attentive and memorable.

Yelp
Great ambiance, remodeled interior. Great food and service. Had pepper steak w veggies and shrimp with lobster sauce combination platters. Prices are great. Excellent local, two decades long Chinese restaurant that has been nicely updated!

Yelp
Excellent location to have dim sum on the weekends. The food is very fresh and hot. The simplicity of the restaurant and the attention has a universal approach. The service is phenomenal as everyone is there to help you one way or another. The ambiance is very good as this is a family style feeling. I suggest venturing and trying the lobster, which is excellent. I highly recommend this venue for a taste of good chinese food. Arrive early and enjoy for the place gets busy pushing mid day.

Yelp
My order was very cold, soggy, oily, tasted very stale and old. It also did not smell very good. Very disappointed in the service and the quality of food.

Yelp
Delicious dim sum and very affordable lunch and dinner specials. Service was kind and relaxed. I'm already planning the dishes I'll order for my next visit.

Yelp
This used to be one of the best Chinese restaurants in the area but it has fallen to the Miami curse of great restaurants cutting corners while the quality goes way way down...I hope they can bring it back up...we already lost Lee's just down the street...the flavor of the food is just meh...it's almost like it's lazy cooking and not really caring about the quality of the food they're putting out...they egg rolls are frozen and not really that good. I hope they improve soon...

Yelp
Let me first start off by saying that I admit that I'm spoiled since we have some great dim sum options in New York. But this place is the preferred place for family members in Kendall, Miami, so we tend to stick to this place, even though there are better places, a little further away. Having said that, I found their dim sum to be pretty good! On our most recent trip to Kendall, we went to South Garden three times. Once for takeout dim sum, another time for takeout congee, and another time for dine-in dim sum. For takeout, we just ordered from a dim sum menu. For dine-in, they actually had carts going around the dining room. They had a good variety of items in the carts on a late Saturday afternoon. We also ordered two noodle dishes, which were terrific. All in all, we all enjoyed South Garden. Maybe on our next trip to Miami, we'll convince our family members to try the other dim sum restaurant but I won't be surprised if they want to return to South Garden...again! Haha

Yelp
I've seen this place is always busy, regardless of day and time. So I decided to order for pickup. Time given for p/up was spot on. No ordered items missing Food was pretty good. I found the special fried rice had been over cooked a little but it wasn't bad. Pricing was good. I would order again, or perhaps dine in next time.

Yelp
I went there for lunch there was only one person eating there empty i sat at a table where i can see the tv the lady told me to move to another table i said why she said because you have to the she grabbed my shoulder and told me to move i told her to don't touch me i got up to leave she started yelling at me but she didn't want me to sit at this table very rude and disrespectful i told her to call her manager she said no so i waited till the manager came i told her she was very unprofessional and rude she kept trying to grab me in front of her manager i told her to don't touch me i told the manager what was the problem me sitting here if the place was empty the lady kept lying to the manager to i was making it up i told the managers the she was lying she kept trying to grab me so I told the management i was going to give a bad review she like why you want to do this to my business i told here the i was treated bad and i am a regular and eat there all the time and always order on door dash all the time the lady service started yelling at me and again try to grab me by the shoulder and try to spit at me say she never told me to move i love the food but there servers are all rude with no manners it a shame one person can ruin something

Yelp
Fresh and tasty Chinese food. Clean and friendly place. I usually order the special froed rice and Szechuan shrimp.

Yelp
Love this restaurant whenever I get my itch for some good Chinese Food. I'm a pretty plain type of guy when it comes to Chinese food but this place has never disappointed because it also caters to picky eaters like myself. Wether it's the spring rolls, peppered steak, honey chicken or another dish the food quality is always fresh, delicious and plentiful. Today it was a delivery day but the quality didn't disappoint. Best part is they have delivery and I don't think it took longer than 15 minutes before my food arrived. It's a small restaurant and perhaps not well known restaurant but compared to other larger chain places I'd pick this spot anytime. Trust me if you're close by and want some good Chinese food give it a try. You won't regret it. Happy to be a longtime customer and to support our local small business. Keep up the awesome work South Garden.

Yelp
Today was a huge win introducing my sister to the never ending world of DIM SUM! This place is a safe, delicious gateway to bring any first timers since they are sure to find so many palate pleasers both steamed and fried. We were a group of 6 adults plus a baby- they had zero problems accommodating us. We ordered immediately from the dim sum carts that surrounded us and by the second round of orders - my entire group was beyond stuffed. My sister enjoyed things like steamed dumplings (my fave would have to be the scallop ones) The steamed pork buns, and the SHUMAI! The little egg custard and sesame seed balls are so delicious warm fresh out the oven .... If you don't usually get these 2 dessert dim sums You are missing out. Overall it's such a nice welcoming environment with lazy Susan turn tables and the nicest staff!
google avatar

Mel E.

Yelp
Some of the most amazing and authentic Chinese food in Miami! I love it here! The dim sum menu is good and affordable and the service is great. We enjoyed the lo mein with chicken and shrimp (no pork and no water chestnuts), fried shrimp ball (dim sum menu), crab rangoon, the authentic Chinese fried rice made with white rice, spring roll and egg roll. It was all great! Going to check out the fried chicken next so let's see. Enjoy!

Yelp
So I am a regular for dim sum at 3 or 4 different places in Miami. This place has the worst customer service and even the owner doesn't care. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Relatively clean, service is horrible. Food is OK. Not the best. The way they handle customer dispute, as if I was crazy. First I walk in I'm standing waiting the girl walks past me two or three times as if I'm not there I grab the dim sum card and a pencil she still walks past me like I'm not there . Finally, she asked me if it's to stay or to go. Doesn't get better from there. He here at your own risk.
google avatar

Sergio A.

Yelp
The best Chinese food my kids have had hands down and they're such picky eaters. Dumplings were incredible, staff is great, and managers top notch. Our go to place in Miami.
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
We visited recently and were pleasantly surprised to find they had done a renovation on the interior. Having been regulars for so many years, South Garden was in need of an update and they got it. Everything has been modernized and looks a lot better. We went around noon on a Saturday and enjoyed the dim sum pushcarts, which offered a nice selection of items. Food quality was good, and tasted fresh. Some recommendations include the shrimp dumplings, turnip cake, char-siu crisps, tripe and egg tarts. If you need a vegetable fix, order the snow pea tips with garlic. They are absolutely delicious! You can also order from the American style menu, but consider being a little more adventuresome and try some of the authentic eats!
google avatar

April W.

Yelp
I love this place. My family and I get takeout from here and it's always very good. Our go-to's are the Szechuan chicken and the Honey Garlic chicken. The person who answers the phone is always polite and communicate clearly. I love their egg rolls, too. Everything seems fresh and hot and tasty. I have never dined in the restaurant, but it looks like a nice experience that I'd like to try one day. Prices are reasonable, and they always fill the containers well. It's definitely one of the nicer looking Chinese restaurants that I've seen in the area, and I love that it seems authentic. Give them a try :)

Yelp
Authentic Chinese food,, best service so quick and to the point. Family friendly vibes. 10/10 fav
google avatar

Dona L.

Yelp
We shared the Peking Duck. It was absolutely delicious. One Duck can feed 3-4 people. The service was excellent. They can handle large parties easily. I was there with a party of 10. Restaurant is very nicely decorated. Would I go back? Definitely!
google avatar

Greg K.

Yelp
The food is good. Fairly priced and the owners are great people. The dining room was recently redone, and looks very nice.
google avatar

Wilson L.

Yelp
Been eating at South Garden for many years even after the original owner sold because of construction on Sunset years ago. Extensive menu caters to all tastes. Service excellent, food delicious, never rushed, enjoyable relaxing atmosphere. Recently redecorated even nicer. Dimsum weekends is always busy, advise you to come after 1:30 - 2pm when most of the family/church crowds are done. Some of the wait staff speak Spanish because they're from South America, you'd be surprised, lol. Dim sum pushcart service is easy, pick what you want, staff marks your menu slip, We always have our family dinners, special occasion dinners here, excellent food.
google avatar

Mike C.

Yelp
Came here on a whim for dinner, ordered the house steak. The steak came on a sizzling plate and was absolutely delicious. The vegetables were so fragrant I enjoyed it more than the steak. I normally come here for dim sum but would be adding south garden as a dinner spot from now on. Highly recommend it!

Yan Z.

Yelp
Dear Kunal and Karan K, your family threw a menu at the owner's head. This is the reason for why they were asked to leave the restaurant. In addition, they were abusive to the server.
google avatar

Elisa R.

Yelp
This place is so comforting and my go to spot for traditional Chinese food. I'm a fan of dim sum and this place delivers. The portions are big, they menu has a lot of options and the flavor is there. I didn't try any seafood, but the chicken and pork options were yummy.
google avatar

Christian A.

Yelp
Great food but bad service. Been coming here for years dining in and taking out so I'm not holding any punches. Two days ago mess up my order and forgot one of the dishes so I have to wait for them to make it from scratch then I leave with no apology. Then, I get home and realize they forgot the fried rice. They have a bad habit of turning off the phones for hours so they didn't answer. I call back the next day and the female owner apologized and offers to "make it up to me" by relaxing the meal and giving me the forgotten fried rice. When I arrive to pick it up, the male owner demands I pay and I said I only wanted the rice and then h tossed it on the table with so much attitude. He's always has a nasty attitude but certain people can never admit when they are wrong. Other reviews also make mention of this.
google avatar

Farah C.

Yelp
Best Chinese food PERIOD! The food there is always fresh wither it's dine or pick up! Been coming here for 9 years and nothing has changed. The staff and food is excellent. I usually get there shrimp fried rice, fish with leeks and their fried chicken and all three entrees never disappoint. I also ordered catering for my daughter's birthday and family and friends enjoyed! LOVE IT THERE AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!
google avatar

Spencer F.

Yelp
This place is truly unbeatable. Amazing food, beautiful, recently renovated space, and inanely good value. Go for lunch when they're quiet, and you won't be sorry.

Mariella M.

Yelp
Great food and service. The restaurant is clean and ornately decorated. The fish tank is also very cool. Overall great spot. I recommend it.

Yelp
I highly recommend for dim sum in Miami great food great service and great price I

Yelp
So disappointing...was impressed by the interior renovation as well as the bathrooms, but it seems like they may be making up for redecorating costs. The Honey Chicken was mostly breading, the sauce was so ally water and vinegar with a splash of honey. The Special Fried rice had the lowest quality ham and pork, and shrimp, not at all what this place used to be. The crab Rangoon was over fried and tasted old. Ended up with a huge headache afterwards, really disappointing meal. Unfortunate as they have been around forever but we will not be returning...
google avatar

Jose M.

Yelp
I would give five stars, but my only gripe is service which has always been a problem here. Hit or miss, but it's become part of the experience. Lol. I the food is good overall and they have a nice Dim Sum option on weekends, although the ladies get a little mad if you don't pick a lot of items. Nice ambiance in my opinion. It's not a trendy Instagram restaurant, but that's a plus.

Suzette F.

Yelp
Great restaurant for dim sum especially on weekends, also great for regular food but I really like the dim sum

Andrea C.

Yelp
Great Hakka Chinese food. Great great great. That's it. Try it. Hakka style Chinese food cannot be obtained everywhere. This is wonderful cooking and very comfortable atmosphere.

Ana R.

Yelp
Good Chinese food for the price and so is service. It's our go to place when in Miami.
google avatar

Supawat J.

Yelp
Back to the restaurant today, Dimsum is still tasty and reasonable price. The waitress recognized us, shes so friendly. I will take my mother to celebrate her birthday next to weeks.
google avatar

Rich Y.

Yelp
Went for dim sum on a Sunday morning. Had to wait about 10-15 minutes for a table for two people even though there were 6-7 tables open. Finally got a table and waited an additional 15 minutes to get service. Dim sum carts were not moving around as normal and they only had two carts anyway. Before your table would be full within 5 minutes. Even our waiter just took our drink order and still waiting for them to come back to see if we wanted to order any menu items, which we did. What annoyed us the most was when we specifically ordered a dim sum item which they had to prepare in the kitchen, and a server brought 6 orders out on a cart and passed it around to every other table until it was done. Ending up leaving after that. The previous times I've been here the service has been subpar and I always gave them the benefit of the doubt. My most recent visit didn't change if not was worse, and it wasn't even a busy day for service. I'll probably reconsider coming back for dim sum for a while until they figure out how to improve their service.
google avatar

Jonathan P.

Yelp
Been going here for-e-ver. Solid place, even better for dim sum. -- Here are a few extra words because apparently Yelp doesn't believe that brevity is the soul of wit and has some sort of minimum review length.
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
Listen I understand when dim sum is busy it can be BUSY. But we had to ask for water 3 times before just getting 1 cup and we're still here and have been here over an hour and only received 4/8 orders we put in. Not to mention me and my bf finished the whole tea pot (which we NEVER had before ) . Besides service being poor, the quality is mid. Nothing sticks out thats outstanding. I wouldn't go back there's so many other dim sum restaurants near by. Its a nice looking restaurant though clean looking.
google avatar

W. C. C.

Yelp
The price is okay, and the food is good. However I have to say that the food used to be way better before. I guess probably the old chef left the store. I hope they will improve the food just like they used to be.
