"Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday until 9 p.m. In the morning, Stoop Kid is a bagel joint (and a good one), but come noon, the menu expands to include a handful of messy, dripping smashburgers — gorgeously seared brisket patties tucked into brioche buns and layered with things like Tillamook cheddar, caramelized onions, pickle chips, and candied jalapeños. Each burger delivers big on flavor, with enough spice and tang to cut through the richness. Seasoned curly fries with fry sauce make an excellent accompaniment. Grab a seat at the Churchill’s communal courtyard or take it to go and eat in the sunshine. Must order: The Burner burger — spicy mayonnaise, panela cheese, candied jalapeños, grilled onions, and a sesame potato bun hug." - McConnell Quinn
"Operating out of a small stall inside downtown’s Churchill food hall, Stoop Kid keeps things tight with a short menu and a dedicated following. The lineup shifts from bodega-style bagel sandwiches in the morning to smash burgers and fried snacks by the afternoon. Mornings mean soft scrambled eggs, crispy hash cakes, and homemade shmears piled onto toasted bagels. Later in the day, brisket burgers take over — thin, griddled patties stacked with caramelized onions, spicy sauces, thick cheese, and all the salty-sweet extras you didn’t know you needed. The Burner, layered with panela, grilled onion, and sticky candied jalapeños, might be the sleeper hit of the bunch. Sides like seasoned curly fries, tots, and hot honey–drizzled mac and cheese balls round things out. (There’s often a special or two worth checking out, too.) The coffee’s good — which is more than you can say for most burger spots. Stoop Kid works just as well for a quick breakfast as it does for a casual dinner with friends. Hot tip: The Churchill can get hectic — head upstairs to the hidden patio above Stoop Kid for a quieter spot to enjoy your burger." - McConnell Quinn
"Located inside The Churchill, this casual spot deals bagels, burgers, coffee, and sometimes burritos to crowds of college students and cool moms from its compact side-order window. Stoop Kid’s bagels are sourced locally from a small batch bakery (go early, before they sell out) headed by a Brooklyn-born chef, a fact bagel purists can feel good about. Their bagel sandwiches like the Money Shot with spicy bacon jam shmear and a hash cake are a nice, savory way to fuel the rest of your day. Once you have your goods, you can chill in The Churchill's open courtyard or grab a gift from one of the artisan booths." - lauren topor
