"Operating out of a small stall inside downtown’s Churchill food hall, Stoop Kid keeps things tight with a short menu and a dedicated following. The lineup shifts from bodega-style bagel sandwiches in the morning to smash burgers and fried snacks by the afternoon. Mornings mean soft scrambled eggs, crispy hash cakes, and homemade shmears piled onto toasted bagels. Later in the day, brisket burgers take over — thin, griddled patties stacked with caramelized onions, spicy sauces, thick cheese, and all the salty-sweet extras you didn’t know you needed. The Burner, layered with panela, grilled onion, and sticky candied jalapeños, might be the sleeper hit of the bunch. Sides like seasoned curly fries, tots, and hot honey–drizzled mac and cheese balls round things out. (There’s often a special or two worth checking out, too.) The coffee’s good — which is more than you can say for most burger spots. Stoop Kid works just as well for a quick breakfast as it does for a casual dinner with friends. Hot tip: The Churchill can get hectic — head upstairs to the hidden patio above Stoop Kid for a quieter spot to enjoy your burger." - McConnell Quinn
