I randomly went to this place. The food is really good. The portions are great and it’s reasonably priced. the gentlemen working there are super accommodating. They have their own pulled meat that is braised in vinegar. You should definitely try it. the fish taco is also very good.

The food was so good. Some of the best I've had in New York. Absolutely stop by Summer Salt. Your stomach will thank you. Big portions and great flavor. Lots of options and sides. Lots of neat wall-hangings with a few surprising items to find. They do a lot with the small space, but without feeling cluttered or claustrophobic. Very clean shop. I'm from California. If you want a Santa Monica style burrito, this is the best I've had in NYC since moving here 7 months ago. I'm still looking for a San Francisco/Mission style place, but this is scratching the itch for now! And you follow them as they make your burrito across the counter like at a CA taqueria. Very happy to find this!

The portion was huge and I skipped the diner that day 😂 I ordered the crispy fish bowl which included three big chunks of crispy cod fish. These fish chunks were crispy but not very heavily fried like fish and chips. Recommend!

We ate a very quick lunch here but really enjoyed our meal. The staff are super friendly and excited even during lunch on a Monday in NYC. The tacos are great, simple and easy and you can customize them. Their Spicy salsa is also really great.

Baja crispy fish burrito hits the spot! Got California style (w fries inside instead of the rice and beans) and that was just like crispy deliciousness on top of crispy! Also shared an order of chips and guac with my brother. Personally felt the chips and guac were underwhelming and excessive in addition to a burrito each, but we were curious. Will be coming back for the crispy fish burrito, but def not the chips. They check vaccination status for indoor dining which is good. Easy ordering process and they make it in front of you. Basically like chipotle but with fish and shrimp options and obviously better tasting.

I hate to say that I believe I got food poisoning from here. After doing some deductive reasoning plus feeling indigestion / feeling like my stomach wasn't "digesting" the food. (I had the Seared Adobo Fish bowl, and my cousin had the chicken bowl). (For context, I went to lunch here with my cousin. We got 2 different bowls. At night, we got pizza with the rest of our family. Later at night, only my cousin and I felt sick - so it wasn't the pizza that the rest of the family also had. For 3 days, my cousin and I had to go on a saltine and Pedialyte diet to reset our stomachs!) [FYI business manager immediately messaged me after seeing this asking how he can help, and he apologizes! Which is very nice of him. Admittedly, I don't think I would risk my own stomach to go back to get another bowl to see if it's better for me, but it's nice to see Management isn't gaslighting!]

This is a newer version of Chipotle but more colorful, has cooler vibes plus very spacious and contains more seating as the ambiance. There's no restroom for customers. Good, fast service from friendly staff. They accept cash and/or credit/debit card as forms of payment. Very huge portions. However, the price is probably double the amount of Chipotle imo. They do have two fish and one shrimp options as proteins at Summer Salt. I had the beef but not too impressed...maybe the fish and shrimp options would've tasted more flavorful. In fact, its tenderness of the beef tastes pretty similar....not a super wow factor but like just decently well since it's not too much of a huge difference from Chipotle. Additionally, I think Chipotle is actually close by from Summer Salt. Overall, it's an underwhelming experience with the short rib bowl. Taste wise is more on the overcooked & rubbery side + feels like it has lacked depth of flavor. The dish is like a missed opportunity especially compared to the tasty descriptions that I have read on the menu. For the hefty price, I would've expected a more satisfying and memorable meal. Sadly, this bowl falls short of the mark for me. Would I go by again next time? - Probably not anytime soon....I'll wait a while before stepping foot inside again

Shoutout to Summer Salt for staying open past 8pm on a Saturday night! I did pickup at another place nearby, but they were sadly closed. Thankfully, Summer Salt was still open, and so I decided to try this spot for the first time! I placed a mobile order for their Carne Asada Short Rib Bowl for pickup at 8:30 and upon arrival, the employee prepped my bowl. I chose my bowl to be Mission Style, where the base is rice and beans. Like Chipotle, I was able to request a tortilla on the side, which was warmed and wrapped in a foil. I got the typical fixings - salsa, sour cream, cheese, onions, lettuce, and cilantro. Per usual, guac is extra. This place is basically like a Chipotle, except it's much cleaner, not as busy, and the service is quicker and friendlier. Would def be back to Summer Salt!

The Flatiron area has lots of casual eateries so it can be difficult to narrow down on a place to stop by for lunch. At Summer Salt, the staff is nice, location is clean, and the portions are huge. It's also not typically very busy; I've never had to wait more than a few minutes to order. It's one of my favorite spots around this area -- far better than most casual Mexican eateries (so yes it's better than Ch*potle). I love that there are plenty of non-meat protein options, including tofu, crispy fish, seared fish, and shrimp. The ingredients all taste super fresh and the salsas and baja sauce pair really well. If ordering online you can pick from California style (fries as a base) or Mission Style (rice & beans), but in-store you can have any combination of bases/ingredients. They also have Jarritos which is the only drink you should be having with this type of meal! Solid spot to keep you happy & full, can def make two meals out of it as well.

If you're looking for a fast casual spot (that serves margaritas!) this is the place to go. It's chipotle style service- you can built your own burrito/ bowl/ taco or select from their pre-set menu. They have 1 vegetarian option, which was a cauliflower tofu burrito (also comes in a taco/ bowl version). I was surprised at this combination, but the flavors came together! The tofu was more air fried and had a more chewy texture, but worked well. You can get your items mission style (rice and pinto beans) or California style (with fries). I also got the lime margarita and was a nice addition for a hot NYC day! Overall, I was pleasantly surprised and would try again if I'm in the area as an alternative to Chipotle.

Cool quick bite spot to get the best tasting burrito. Since it's summer time also a good spot to grab you a frozen Margarita to cool down (you can take them to go!). The Baja burrito cali style was delicious, their burritos are huge and super filling. The service was quick and the establishment was very clean.

The true reason you're coming here is to gorge on their fried fish tacos. They are simply amazing. True, you're paying $6 a piece, but they're huge and filling. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the place is clean and well run. There are about 30 seats, so you can easily eat inside (I can't really imagine getting them to go, since they're are at their best when eaten right off the frying basket). 2 more locations available: E14 Street and 40/Madison. Recommended.

Super off brand for me, but I knew nothing about this spot when I ordered delivery. Didn't look it up on Yelp or anything! That being said, I had zero expectations. I ordered the pollo asado bowl and some chips and guac. It was very affordable for nyc, and really glad I ordered from here because it was delicious! It seems to be a fast casual spot? Either way, it got to me in midtown within 20 minutes! Chips are thick and very crunchy. Could have used a little salt, but honestly it was great with the guac. The guac itself was chunky and flavorful. I initially thought it was quite small but there's more in there than you would think. For my bowl, I got it Mission style, so with beans and rice instead of fries. It's definitely a fusion spot but I really loved how flavorful everything was. It was so flavorful that I actually felt like I needed to have some chips with the bowl to balance it out. But I can picture it being great with a margarita or the like.

When I still had an office to go to at Madison Square Park (#1), there was an endless amount of food options that made every day a new adventure when it came to lunch. Summer Salt, an Asian owned, So-Cal Mex inspired fast casual spot that became among my most frequent go-tos, despite my initial skepticism (#2). As a fast casual spot with a loyal following, it's hard not to get on the bandwagon given how tasty the food is. They did a good job on keeping the place looking clean and contemporary, while keeping nice with the seafood / marina theme and the fun messaging on their brand materials. I appreciate the friendly service and the fact they're good at keeping the line moving during their busiest times. There is some seating near the front, but the real action starts in the back where the food gets ordered / made. Their fish is dynamite. Whether it's the baja crispy fish or the delicious pan seared adobo fish, I could have it in any way. The tacos are fine, but I prefer it in burrito or burrito bowl form. The pan seared shrimp is not as fire as the fish, and the carne asada / pollo asado still play second fiddle to the fish. I do appreciate their vegan option, the tofu-cauliflower tinga. I think their $3.50 guacamole side is a tad steep, but that's nothing new in Manhattan. The booze options brings another dimension that most other fast casual places don't offer. I still remember their $8 margarita / $5 tequila shots, which have now foodflated to $9.50 / $6.50. Their frozen paloma is a favorite, especially during summer months. The team behind Summer Salt is also the same team behind Cemitas El Tigre in Woodside (#3) and Handsome Hank's (#4). There are more locations now with one in Midtown and Union Square. Had the Baja Fish Bowl. It was okay but the fish needed a bit more flavor but the breading had a decent flavor. The fish was definitely crispy and they give you 3-4 pieces which is great. The flavor was alright though. Could have been more flavorful. The staff here were really fun especially as I kept asking about the fries being the in bowl.

Got the crispy fish burrito and wow it was definitely crispy. My only complaint is that I wish there were more greens. The fillings were pretty much just cheese, sour cream, cabbage (I think??) hot or mild sauce, beans, rice, pico de gallo and that was pretty much it off the top of my head? Wish there was some lettuce, or corn, or jalapeños or something more. And if there were, it wasn't offered when I went down the line and didn't think to ask for any of the other items I saw in the bins (onions I think was one?) Otherwise the burritos are HUGE which is great. My friend got the fish bowl and it looked really sad to say the least. Three pieces of fish feels like not enough for a bowl that legit wasn't even filled even close to the top. It genuinely seemed like the burrito had a lot more filling than the bowl had. And because there were no greens it also just looked really unappetizing lol. Though of COURSE it tasted great. There's a bathroom accessible as well and it's a very casual spot to sit down where you please, eat and go.

Danny L. I'm not sure how to reply back to your response, so I'm doing this "update" to reply to you. I did send a DM to the restaurant, but I guess you can't see it. As for guac needing to be kept a certain temp, I totally understand. Then maybe put it in a separate container so as not to make the entrée cold? As for what you can do to make up. I would like to try it again, gift card or coupon so I can go back? And you definitely have to increase the amount of the fish, it was really sad in that bowl...

Quick, good meal before a show across the street. Cauliflower and tofu tacos were SOOOO delicious! Frozen margaritas were super yummy too.

I returned to Summer Salt in my quest to find the best tacos in NYC to give it a fair second chance post-reading Danny's thorough response. I'm a believer in second chances and this place delivered! Once again, the portions are some of the best you'll get in the city and I appreciated the double corn tortilla. This is cali-mex fusion at its best. The staff was super friendly as well and my tacos were ready in no time! My main issue last time was the extra guac per taco, but I'm revising my initial qualm by acknowledging that guac is normally extra in the city. I suppose I was just perplexed that it was extra *per* taco, which I'd recommend deserves revisiting. However, this guac is something special. You can tell it's freshly made and the flavor is great. I'd recommend you try it out to see what the hype is about. I tried out the chips this time too which were crunchy and well-salted. I also want to acknowledge that the initial comparison to a place like Chipotle or even Los Tacos No. 1 is not a fair one as you're comparing apples to oranges. It hit me this time that they're all incredibly different. This is a place with lots of California influence and it shows (in a good way, of course). They offer "california-style" bowls with fries as the base (which my partner really enjoyed) and the flavor of the meats is more charred and deep than limey, if that makes sense? They also offer margaritas here (which I tried out and thoroughly enjoyed :D). In my quest to find the best tacos in NYC and given the updated realizations, I'd say these are my top favorite CALI-mex tacos around (applause!)--special shoutout to the chicken ones--while the tacos from Los Tacos No. 1 are my favorite mexican tacos around. Check this place out to see for yourself!

Perhaps one of the greatest tragedies associated with the closure of our office by Madison Square Park is not having a routine excuse to grab lunch from Summer Salt anymore. On my final day in the office, I picked up one last California-style crispy fish burrito stuffed to the gills with crunchy, starchy french fries; flawlessly battered fish; all the fixin's; plus guac. As I scarfed the monstrosity down in our cafeteria, a colleague strolled by and commented, "You know it's a good burrito when it stands up by itself." I couldn't think of a more concise way to adulate Summer Salt's excellent offerings. Had this been a singular experience, I'd probably put Summer Salt at four stars, but their consistent execution earns a coveted fifth star. I've never -not- had a great crispy fish burrito, and I can't think of anywhere else in the city that I'd obtain an equivalent meal.

For fast casual tacos, these were bangin'! This is pretty much high quality chipotle with more set menu items. I ordered the pollo asado, adobo fish and adobo shrimp tacos with a side of Paloma to wash it down. The tacos came with plenty of meat and it was all super tasty. The chicken was nice and juicy, the fish and shrimp were flavorful. There was a not a topping out of place. With some medium salsa on top, a pleasant burn as you ate. The Paloma itself packs a punch for $9 but there's a bit of sweetness to mellow it out. A perfect drink to beat the heat (or maybe just forget the heat entirely if you have too much...) Overall, I can see why this is popular amongst the office crowd. Fast and delicious! Stop by if you have a serious taco craving!

I have to admit, I did not expect this place to be that good but was pleasantly surprised upon trying their food! Very affordable, filling, tasty, and fast service. I ordered the Cali-style Pollo Asado meal (comes with a side and fountain drink) and chose chips and salsa as my side. Their medium salsa is fantastic, I highly recommend. I know they have great margarita deals as well so I will be back to try some drinks with my food next time. Thank you Summer Salt for a great dining experience.

I prefer hot sauce to hot takes, but I'm ready for the inevitable hate mail on Fish Taco Twitter. You know the drill; the saner ones will be along the lines of "bro your taste buds got burned by chipotle tinga sauce" or "WTF you never been to (add name here) in San Diego?!" I got the crispy and adobo fish tacos; in a perfect the identity of the "white fish" would be stated, as well as the adobe fish. The crispy one is closest to the classic configuration in California. Fish tacos orders are accompanied by salsa and there's also a separate chips-and-salsa so if you go that route, perhaps order a different. The hot was fine but the medium was more unique, orange and also quite hot. They have regular Topo Chicos plus the boozy kind.

Summer Salt is one of my favorite places to go in this area, especially if I'm really hungry and want something both tasty and very filling. I've had their tacos before, but I usually go for the burritos, which come either California-style (with fries, my favorite) or Mission-style (with rice and beans). My go-to is the pollo asado, and the whole combination of chicken, fries, cheese, pico de gallo, sour cream, and (medium) salsa is absolutely delicious. Also, their menu has clear allergen labeling for eggs, dairy, gluten, and soy, and notes what things are vegan or can be made vegan. Taking that step to make it easier for their customers is so appreciated. Can't wait to get another burrito soon!

To be honest, I don't think it has the best name for fast casual Mexican joint; most similar places have a name that, upon simply reading it, tells you immediately that you're looking at a Mexican restaurant... either with the use of specific food related words like "taco," "burrito," "taqueria," or Spanish-language words, or both. Alas, I have passed Summer Salt a number of times at a distance and it never really registered in my brain as a taco/burrito place. In fact, I'm not exactly sure what I assumed it was-- a surf shop? A tanning salon? A swimsuit place? A purveyor of expensive artisanal hipster salt? In any case, came across Summer Salt on Yelp today when standing in Madison Sq. Park and thinking about lunch. Upon entering and taking a look at the decor (they have some super cool photos on the walls) and the menu, it was immediately apparent that this is Cali-mex- not to be confused with Tex-mex or, well, Mex-mex. I got a burrito bowl with the crispy fish, California style, and guacamole. As the very friendly employee was preparing the bowl I was taken aback by how generous they are here with the fish. It's some kind of white fish- not sure which and I didn't ask, but holy halibut, it is delicious! When talking about fish, people throw the word "crispy" around like it's going out of style, yet half the time the reality is kind of soggy. Here, though, actual crispy-ness abounds. To give some context, I think the fish here beats the fish tacos at some other nearby (and pricier) places- e.g. Seamore's, Tacombi- hands down. Unexpectedly one of the yummiest meals I have had so far in 2022.

Summersalt is a quick and spacious stop for Mexican food during lunch breaks. I appreciate how efficient they are with timing and the waits aren't long. I've tried a few different entrees, but so far none of them hit home. The burrito is large, which I appreciate. However, it's 99% rice and tortilla with a sprinkle of protein. It lacked other toppings and every bite tasted like bare rice. Ended up sharing half with a buddy who trashed it because they also didn't like the flavor. Felt like a watered down, Caucasian version of Mexican food to appease the masses. I'm sure it works for some, but the flavor profiles are not authentically Mexican so it doesn't work for me. Best of luck to the business!

This is a fast casual California-style Mexican place. You can get burritos, bowls, and tacos. There is a limited amount of indoor and outdoor seating though Madison Square Park is right across the street. Their burritos and bowls both come with your choice of Mission style (with Mexican rice and pinto beans inside) or California style (with french fries inside). The food tasted fresh and was very tasty. However, the real winner here are their alcoholic drinks. It's very strange to see a fast casual place with cocktails from their automatic dispensers, but here it is. They offer a regular margarita, frozen margarita or a frozen paloma (tequila and grapefruit) in plain plastic cups. We tried them all and while they were not that strong, they were sufficiently refreshing and for only $9. This is the perfect place to get a drink during lunchtime without anyone thinking you are a booze hound.

The food's delicious with prompt service and is much better than Chipotle/most of the other options on 23rd Street.

Izzy (kind lady that works there) recommended seared adobo fish burrito. It was so good!! Add some fries. mMMmmmMmmM! Cutting it and half and sharing is good but you may still be hungry so get something else. Worth $14 though!

Solid option. Think upgraded Chipotle, but with taco options and more variety of protein. Fried fish is the way to go.

NYC doesn't have a lot of West Coast style Mexican spots, but Summer Salt is an amazing entry. The main crux of their menu is the standard taco, burrito, or burrito bowl with your choice of protein. The difference is that you get to choose between regular or Baja and then California style or Mission style. Cheese is an option on everything. California style (my go-to) is French fries as a filler. Mission style is rice and beans. Baja is cabbage, pico, Baja sauce, and salsa. Regular is just pico and salsa. I go with a regular pollo asado California style burrito, and I leave stuffed every time. The fries are a great addition, and they add crunch and flavor to pair with the freshness of the pico and the heat of whichever salsa you choose. Overall I come here as often as I'm in the area, and I leave happy every time.

I'm officially done with the OTHER fast food Burrito spot that ends in Lè lol My son recommended this spot so I said when Im in the city I will try it. After my md appointment in the area I popped in for an early lunch. Very cute and clean ambiance. So many options to choose from yikes. So I opted for the Baja California Crispy fish Burrito. My fix ins Mexican rice, pinto beans, cheddar, extra cilantro , pico de gallo and the creamy baja sauce. Omggg this thing was huge but $13 definitely worth it. Taste so good and messy but any true burrito connoisseur knows if you're burrito is not messy it's not good lol. I ate half for lunch and half for dinner which actually heated well and tasted great. Next time I will try the Adobo shrimp flavor or the Pollo ASADO chmm decisions lol

Lowkey one of the best places in Manhattan to get wasted on a budget. Their tequila shots are $6 and the margaritas are $NINE FREAKIN DOLLARS!!!! NO TIP. I mean of course you can tip (antiquated system with racist origins) but it's not a bar, there's no bartender to shamefully give a dollar every time he does his job. Anywho, get the margarita! Get the green margarita all the way on the right because that shit is poured heavy handed. Pro tip: mix in a little of the pink margarita, to offset the alcohol taste, and now you can use all that money you saved to pay off that child support. Oh, also their food is good.

BEST FISH TACOS IVE EVER HAD!!!!! Huge pieces of crispy fish and they're not shy on the toppings. I've tried fish tacos all over nyc and this is the one i always come back to. no matter what time of day, the fish is hot and crispy. make sure to get the spicy orange salsa and dip it in there. fries are fire here too cant beat the portions and seasoning for the price GO HERE!!!!! :)

The Crispy Fish was my favorite of the bunch. Then I would probably go with the seared fish, Carne asada, and then the shrimp.

I hate to admit that I only come here for their frozen margaritas, but they are sooooo good. I'm usually in the area every other week to pick up art supplies at Michael's so I make it my business to stop by. The only thing I've tried is their pan seared shrimp tacos and shrimp bowl. It's lite, pretty healthy, and tasty. I know restaurants typically don't use a lot of seasoning in their food and this is one. The food is good but pretty bland in taste. A little salt and pepper can go a long way, but they have a variety of sauces that may enhance the flavor. I don't like anything spicy so I always get the mild sauce which is really good and makes a difference. I'm not complaining because I'll order the tacos every time I'm in the area, the shrimp bowl too. I'm watching my sodium intake anyway. For the area, the prices are very reasonable. I usually pick up food to go. I sat inside one day just so I could drink my margarita and get another one to go. I need some art supplies for a project that's due in 2 weeks so I might head down there tomorrow.... for some tacos and a margarita, or 2 lol ...

We came here earlier today for a quick lunch and were pretty pleased! It's a fast casual spot with a pretty solid menu -we particularly liked that there were different seafood options. We very much enjoyed the tacos and burrito. There's seating inside and a couple extra tables outside. It's also conveniently located right across Madison Park. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone looking for a quick, casual lunch.

This place is unassuming on the outside.... But the ratings drew me in. The adobo fish is outstanding! I highly recommend the 1/2 shrimp 1/2 fish bowl!! So good!

As a San Diego native searching for an authentic California burrito in New York, I was eager to try this place, but it didn't live up to my expectations. The most disappointing aspect was their use of tater tots instead of the traditional French fries, which drastically altered the taste and texture of the burrito. Additionally, the hot sauce was quite bland and lacked the bold flavors you'd expect, and even the tortilla didn't have the right consistency or taste. If you're looking for a burrito that captures the true essence of a California burrito, this spot might not be the one.

Ordered takeout for lunch. Got the carne asada burrito with spicy salsa and added guacamole but there was no quacamole or salsa on the burrito at all even though we paid extra for it. Despite that the burrito was still pretty solid, I was just disappointed that there was no salsa or guacamole on my burrito.

Summer Salt feels to me like a whimsical take on Chipotle-style burritos and bowls (I say whimsical because of the inclusion of french fries and fried fish). The food is tasty. Unfortunately, there were a few things that just didn't work for me. My main complaints is that the vegetarian protein option is simply weird. Why does it have to be hard, chewy tofu? Just give us some mixed vegetables! Y'all know rice and beans is already a "complete" protein, right? I also found the "assembly" steps hard to follow because nothing is labeled or written on the menu - for example, which if the three reddish salsas should I point to? I think with some improvements, this place could be great, but I probably won't go back right away.

Damn good fish burrito. Try the baha sauce. My preference is mission style (with rice) not California(with fries)

Food was nicely packaged and ready when l arrived to pick it up. Employees were courtesy and the food was certainly tasteful and the portion was large. Would definitely order again from them.

Worth it! These burritos are huge and pack a punch. Baja Crispy Fish Burrito- YES We really liked this one. There were large pieces of fresh fish and it was just delicious! Carne Asada Burrito- YES You can't go wrong with the carne asada. It was standard and tasty. ---------- Our second order: Danny went above and beyond to provide the best customer service. My first order had some hiccups with the carne asada because well, delivery mishaps happen. He offered a refund, but I preferred to try the experience again so I could write an honest review. On our second order, he offered to comp our carne asada and I happily obliged. Our second order included: 1. Baja crispy fish bowl - our favorite! The fish was so flakey and wonderful with a light crisp. 2. Carne asada bowl- wonderful and tasty and loved having the hot sauce on the side so I could control the heat. Danny threw in some freebies!! Sadly, being pregnant, I couldn't have all of it as I'm watching my sugar intake but my husband happily helped! 3. Churros - The churros were cream filled and delicious! I've only had dry churros dipped in sauce, but how amazing was it to have that creamy goodness on the inside? 4. Chips and Salsa - The chips were not overly salty like in other establishments and they tasted delicious and homemade. The salsa was just lovely. It is spicy, but so incredibly flavorful. Rest assured, you will have a delicious meal here and just outstanding service. Still thinking about that Baja crispy fish

I've been a huge fan of California burritos ever since I tried Electric Burrito's and this place makes them delicious. Nice to have a bit of the West Coast here on the East. My favorite is their carne asada. It was jammed-packed with flavor and loaded with rice, beans, fries, cheese, and pico de gallo. Also can't go wrong with their baja crispy fish rice bowls. The batter is light and airy while the fish tender and flavorful. Not to mention they give 3 humongous pieces per bowl. The staff here work highly efficiently and can easily dish out burritos in less than a minute when they're not busy and have their burrito-making craft down to a T. Seating is plentiful and they have cool surfboards mounted on the walls. I like to sit by the windows and people-watch as I eat.

When you're craving burritos or tacos and NY's lackluster Mexican food let's you down time and time again, turn to Summer Salt, which will surpass all your expectations in terms of flavor and value. There are tacos, burritos, and burrito bowls you can get Cali style with french fries or Mission style with pinto beans and rice and everything is priced at $10.95 at most. Each bowl or burrito will leave most folks feeling more than satiated. There are so many protein options ranging from Baja seared adobo shrimp to carne asada to cauliflower & tofu. My very favorite is their Baja crispy fish, which somehow stays extra crispy even through transit, and tastes great in a burrito or bowl. They don't skimp on the protein or portions either, which is so uncommon in NY. So much value! I typically go with a burrito bowl Mission style with pan seared shrimp or crispy fish, add all the toppings and though I love spicy food I opt for the medium hot sauce because it has more depth of flavor, as recommended to me by who I think is the owner of this place. It has plenty of kick and rounds out the dish quite nicely. I love their fries, their guac, and horchata too. They even serve palomas, margaritas, and $5 tequila shots so even though it's a quick serve place you can easily make this a nice brunch or pre-going out meal. I'm so glad they've stayed open throughout the pandemic, serving those who have persevered and didn't flee the city. You can easily order ahead for pickup, build your bowl in store, or order delivery. I've done all of the above and it's always extremely speedy. I hope they stay around forever because no other spot compares to my beloved Summer Salt.

Baja crispy fish burrito hits the spot! Got California style (w fries inside instead of the rice and beans) and that was just like crispy deliciousness on top of crispy! Also shared an order of chips and guac with my brother. Personally felt the chips and guac were underwhelming and excessive in addition to a burrito each, but we were curious. Will be coming back for the crispy fish burrito, but def not the chips. They check vaccination status for indoor dining which is good. Easy ordering process and they make it in front of you. Basically like chipotle but with fish and shrimp options and obviously better tasting.

Summer salt Baja Cali Kitchen Location is near the flatiron building on 23rd street. There is outdoor seating with four tables. So once you order, you can always take a seat and enjoy your meal while people watching. We ordered the Chicken burrito Bowl California style with base of French fries. ($8.95) very flavorful and I like the crunchiness of the French fries. Everything goes well together and it's something new to a bowl. Steak burrito bowl mission style which comes with Mexican rice and pinto beans. ($10.95) I actually enjoyed the California style more. Overall a nice twist. I will come back to try the fish next time as mentioned by other yelpers.
