The Most Over-the-Top Bachelorette Party Destinations in Scottsdale

"Bottomless brunch is a mainstay on any bachelorette itinerary, and in Scottsdale there’s nowhere better to enjoy a morning of mimosas than at Latin-Asian fusion restaurant Sumomaya. The best part? It’s not just the drinks that are bottomless. There are also unlimited desserts and shared plates of favorites like pancake “street” tacos, sweet plantains, and sushi rolls. If mimosas aren’t your drink of choice, there are almost bottomless (one cent) bloody Marys, margaritas, micheladas, or draft beer for an extra $35." - jamiekillin

13 Phoenix Brunches Worth Waking Up For

"Scottsdale’s SumoMaya is an eclectic bottomless brunch option. A basket of pan dulce and mini churros make for a good beginning. Entree highlights include the carne asada scramble and pork al pastor pad Thai. Unlimited shared plates and desserts, plus one entree per diner, cost $39 per person at this vibrant spot. Bottomless bloody Marys, mimosas, micheladas, or draft beer runs an additional $35 per customer, with refills for a penny (no switching drinks; two-hour limit)." - Mcconnell Quinn, Jamie Killin

I always recommend this spot. It’s truly unique with a creative fusion of Mexican and Asian cuisine , vibrant atmosphere, and attentive staff. Plates are visually stunning! And super flavorful. Same can be said for the cocktails. Perfect spot for a night out or special occasion. Always memorable.

Very friendly staff. Great environment & great decor. The drinks were very good and ascetic ! Some of them light up & had glitter in them ! The food was delicious! Would highly recommend all the sushi rolls and the mains. They do have a bit of spice on a lot of their items but all of it was so good.

Absolutely amazing!! Loved everything about this restaurant. Get the Crispy Rock Shrimp, calamari and Mexican street corn! You will not be disappointed!! All the sushi is also fabulous with unique flavor combos! We will definitely be coming back every time we visit Scottsdale.

From the vallet to the reception to the waiter to the service and delicious food, this is one of my. New favorite restaurants! Shrimp tacos were so delicious and my favorite sushi we tried was recommended by our waiter, the Dragon Roll and was one of the best rolls I have ever had! I love the ambience and was perfect for a date with my beautiful wife. Most definitely will be seeing this place again soon. Oh yeah, bathrooms were super clean and there was a D.J. for Friday night playing music 🎵

Where do I begin? The live tree in the middle of the restaurant immediately grabs your attention and demands a photo opportunity. The extensive menu is a lot to devour with so many unique choices and varieties. Our server, Danni, was delightful and most helpful in guiding through our many options. AND then our food arrived! Tada!!! The presentation was stunning BUT the flavor was even better. I had the Crispy Chicken Mole and my daughter had the Shaking Beef - both were Devine and so tasty. We will certainly make this a go-to restaurant the next time we are in Scottsdale, AZ.

Great combinations of flavors and dishes. We went for a friends birthday brunch. Excellent service, bottomless mimosas, parking was valet or what you found open in the parking lot. Great DJ and music on that Sunday.

ALL.the stars! We love this place! Deliciously masterminded menu pairing two cusines. Plates are stunning and delicious to say the least. We loved the vibe and decor. The waitstaff were very helpful in guiding us for best selections and very knowledgeable of the menu and pairings. Always coming back!

I had a great experience here! The appetizer and taco were sooo good — full of flavor and perfectly done. Definitely the highlight of my meal! The sushi was okay, nothing special, but still fresh . Overall, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was nice. I’d definitely come back for the tacos and appetizers alone and to try something new .

Yelp
went to the brunch for the first time; had an amazing experience; food was great, service was even better. Needless to say I will be back to see Dani for bottomless margaritas!

Yelp
Came in with a big group at 2pm for Sunday Brunch. Food and drinks were great and service was even better. We had Ellie as our server, who was amazing, and even though we only had an hour left of the bottomless brunch, she made sure we got our moneys worth. We will definitely come back specifically for her! Incredibly attentive. Five stars! We love Ellie!

Yelp
I came to this restuarant pre pandemic with some friends for a bachelorette party. When I was coming back to Scottsdale I knew that this would be my first dinner spot in the city. I walked in on a Thursday around 6 PM and I was able to get seat at the bar. I would recommend making a reservation for this spot if you can plan ahead. Also there is a parking lot right at front but if you don't find a spot they also have valet parking available. The bar was full and lively but I was able to get service right away. I was too hungry to think so I ended up ordering food before I even started looking at the drink menu. I started with the Tuna Hanabi and then finally decided on getting the Match-a-date for my drink. It was prefectly sweet fruity and smooth. If you like a fruity think this one is for you. The Tuna Hanabi got there and it was exactly what I needed to start off. The pieces are a healthy size and cripsy. I liked the play of sweet with the apricot mango and spicy with the habanero sauce and fresh with pickled cauliflower. It had a little bit of everything in one bite. Then after contemplating all the good stuff on the menu I ordered the tacos Al Pastor, the happy ending and a spicy dumpling soup. I loved the way that they coursed the meal because the tacos came out first. The tacos are on the smaller side I would say that I would need 6-8 tacos for it to feel like a full meal. I would say the tacos were good but compared to everything else that I got it would be the thing that I wouldn't order again. Then came the happy ending. The portion was big for a roll I liked the aguachile sauce on the side and I liked the truffle aioli on top. Also a good roll but would like to try a differnt one next time. Then came the start of the show. The spicy shrimp soup. Let me give the disclaimer that if I would have started with this I would have been full off the soup alone. It is a full dinner size portion and had a lot of dumplings in it. I would say at least 8 -10 so it is super filling. The broth is amazing it is spicy but fresh with all the herbs and the dumplings are perfection. This was by far my favorite dish of the night. I was enjoying it so much that the lady that sat next to me ordered it as well. This for me is a staple whenever I am in the city and I would highly recommend this place, not only becuase of the beautiful ambiance and attentive service but becuase it also is a different twist on food you have had before.

Yelp
The concept of Mexican-Japanese fusion is very much up my street so we felt lucky when, for a last minute date night, my boyfriend and I were able to easily nab seats at the bar as a walk up. Besides the location in a not-very-glamorous strip mall, the overall ambiance felt quite upscale to me. The interior felt like it had been intentionally designed with interesting modern fixtures and the service, which was thoughtful, pleasant, and generous, added to the feeling that you are a guest and your experience matters. The food, sadly, was a bit of a let down for me. We started off strong with the rainbow ceviche which was everything you'd hope for. Super fresh and tender fish, a sesame-forward sauce, and some tostadas on the side for getting the deliciousness from bowl to mouth. Felt like a ceviche finished like an Asian-inspired tuna tartare. Very on brand. I'd also recommend the spicy peach margarita which was juicy and a bit spicy, but not too much. Very drinkable even for me who isn't generally much for booze or and generally orders mild. From there, though, things went downhill for me. Our server/bartender informed us that dishes come out as they're ready from the kitchen rather than specifically coursed out, so we ordered accordingly. I started with a bowl of miso soup and my boyfriend got the dan dan noodles. It was a perfectly fine bowl of miso soup and the cilantro was an interesting touch, but not worth $8. I'd skip this next time. I have mixed feelings about the dan dan noodles. The noodle texture was nice and they were sort of fun to eat, but there was something sort of bitter about it that I wasn't a fan of. Perhaps that's in the nature of Sichuan spice and I'm just not familiar, but it made it less enjoyable. Because I liked the texture of the noodles, I decided to go for the yakisoba as my main and, in a rare turn of events, I had to send it back. It tasted to me like an afterthought menu item. A bit bland, random assortment of veg that may or may not complement the dish. It just wasn't really edible for me and at a place like SumoMaya, I expect more. The staff was very kind about taking it back for me and allowing me to order something new. I then went for the seafood paella which, sadly, still didn't do it for me. I think calling it a paella is a bit of a misnomer; the preparation is more just an island of rice surrounded by a sort of Spanish bouillabaisse. The rice had good flavor and I'd happily eat that on the side of something else but overall it wasn't what I was expecting or hoping for. Despite two failed mains, I'd come back to SumoMaya for the vibes and would probably take more of a small plates and sides approach than going in on an entree.

Yelp
My girlfriends and I went out to Scottsdale for a girls trip in November 2024 and wanted to go out for a nice dinner one of the nights. We came across this spot on yelp, and decided we needed to check it out! There is plenty of parking, since it's located in a shopping center slash apartment building area. It is pretty fancy inside, so could be a great place for a first date or a birthday party! What i loved about this place is that it is fashion (Mexican and japanese) but also if you aren't into fish, you can order rolls that don't have fish in them. Our server was super helpful and friendly when we asked questions about what type of rolls we should order. It is important to know that they serving sizes are similar to tapas, so order a ton of different items and then you can share them with the whole table! If I'm ever back in the Scottsdale area, I will for sure be eating here again!

Yelp
We dined at SumoMaya on Friday night. I was worried as I understand there is a DJ on the weekends but the music was not too loud and we were able to hold a conversation. I hate it when restaurants try to make it like a nightclub and you can't even talk while dining. This was nothing like that. The restaurant is beautiful and low light but not too dark. I will say if you are dining on the high tops by the bar, I noticed everyone had their phone lights out trying to see the menus and even their food. It was very, very dark. They should find some type of lighting option for those tables. A votive doesn't hack it. I would not choose to sit at the high tops. Our server was Tyler was very nice, very attentive and helpful with the menu. I ordered a dirty vodka martini and my husband ordered a dirty gin martini. I am very picky about my martinis and always ask for a very cold icy martini. They delivered! I was pleasantly surprised. Tyler explained that they do bring out food as it is ready and not at once so he wanted to make sure we were prepared as some people do get upset. Since we were only ordering a couple of dishes it really didn't apply to us but that is something to note for anyone else who plans to dine here. My husband ordered the Seafood Paella which he loved. I ordered the Shaking beef. This does not come with a side do I ordered the kimchi rice as a side. Both were delicious. The beef, cooked nicely but you cannot ask for medium or rare as it is wok cooked so just be prepared. After dinner we moved to the bar for a couple of nightcaps. The young ladies who served us at the bar were very, very nice. The bar is a great spot and you have a nice view of the entire restaurant. Next time we may just pop in at sit at the bar at eat if we can't get a reservation. It looks like a great option as well. If you haven't dined here, give it a try.

Yelp
Came here for our 1st year anniversary. It was a pleasant surprise. The ambience was spectacular for a first time visit. I would skip the steak preparations as it was very dry; we ordered the Manhattan Cut. Oysters and sushi were amazing. The drinks were decent. Old fashioned was not that great. But the Exilir and the Sonoran Swizzle was amazing! Do order that. The dessert - Tres leches was very very disappointing. Very dry. Service was great, Hannah was a great services.

Yelp
If you're in Scottsdale and craving a fun mix of Mexican and Asian food, this is the place to be! The menu has a great selection, from tacos and sushi to stir-fries and ceviches. The vibe is lively and they have a DJ on certain days, including Saturdays. We visited SumoMaya with a group of six on a Saturday. We had a reservation and were seated right away. We ordered a bunch of drinks and a wide variety of dishes to share. I started with a spicy peach margarita, followed by the amor prohibido, and both were excellent and well balanced. We started with some appetizers like guacamole, ceviche, and shishito peppers, which were all fantastic. For our mains, we went for fish tacos, sushi, rice dishes, Achiote chicken, and more. Presentation was beautiful and honestly, we liked every single dish. There was nothing we didn't enjoy. For dessert, we treated ourselves to the sticky cake, which is chocolate date cake with bourbon-butter toffee sauce and Mayan chocolate. Since we were celebrating birthdays, the staff surprised us with a complimentary sorbet, too. The sticky cake was incredible, and while I didn't try the sorbet, I heard it was good. We had a wonderful experience and would totally recommend SumoMaya. It is a great spot for groups and celebrations!

Yelp
This Scottsdale restaurant was amazing! Their wood-fired edamame and crispy rock shrimp were incredible, my daughter loved her skirt steak, and the sushi? Fresh and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The baked spicy crab and Fuego were unique and tasty, and the cocktails were great too. The service was fantastic, the place is gorgeous - I need their decorator's number! So romantic.

Yelp
Sumo Maya has great ambiance and fun music it's a great date spot or place to go with your girlfriends. It's a fusion of Mexican and Asian with sushi. Perfect if you love sushi but are dining with someone who doesn't.

Yelp
Girl's trip calls for brunch, and Sumomaya delivered them! As an Asian and Mexican cuisine enthusiast, Sumomaya would be the love child of both, being a Mexican-Asian fusion restaurant. This spot is a gem in itself! Super cute and trendy both inside and outside--IG-worthy. There is both inside and outside seating. We had reservations and sat outside on their covered patio. Even with the fans, it was hot; then again, it's like 100°F here in October. Inside has AC but is more suited for larger parties of four or more. Many diners came in big groups, which is the best way to go! The service was helpful and kind, and the food and drinks came out efficiently. Since we came for brunch, we did Bottomless Brunch! We had the opportunity to indulge in unlimited shared plates, desserts, and an entree each! It's like tapas, and you have 2 hours to eat. You can also add other items or do bottomless drinks at an extra cost. Considering we ordered a bunch of food, some standouts included Papas Bravas, Edamame Hummus, and Mini Churros. I also enjoyed the Pork Al Pastor Pad Thai. Imagine Pad Thai but with a hint of lime and spice and pork al pastor as your protein. I will say there was a lot of food, and I filled it up fast and couldn't finish it (I can't take home leftovers). I'm unfamiliar with Scottsdale's fusion scene, but Sumomaya is unique for its AYCE! It's an excellent place for a celebration or brunch with the girls. The restaurant is in a shopping plaza off N Scottsdale Road and is easy to find on the corner.

Yelp
10/10 Sumomaya is a must visit if you are in Scottsdale. I will never visit without going here! I have eaten at Sumomaya three times and every single time it gets better. The chefs here have really mastered asian fusion cuisine. If you're with a larger group, I can't recommend The Baller Platter enough. It's the perfect choice for sharing. The steak was cooked to perfection and the lobster and shrimp were absolutely delicious and packed with flavor. The ambiance inside is beautiful. There is a tree in the center of the dining table which is very unique.

Yelp
We've been to Sumo Mayo brunch several times, but after our visit on Saturday, January 11th, we were left disappointed. From the moment we walked in, the experience was off-putting. The hostess barely acknowledged us, avoided eye contact, and gave more attention to the party that arrived after us. When we were finally seated, the table was in the middle of a walkway--an issue since two of us have mobility challenges. We requested a different table, and the hostess rudely refused, saying the booths were reserved for larger parties. Oddly enough, a nearby table for six remained empty throughout our entire meal, making the refusal seem unnecessary. Also we didn't request the booth, we requested a table not in the walkway. Our server started off strong by bringing out some of the most popular appetizers, which was a really nice touch and made for a good start. However, it became frustrating when we had to repeatedly request the specific appetizers we actually wanted. On top of that, an egg dish I requested never arrived, even after asking multiple times. The server repeatedly admitted that he hadn't put in what we requested until we followed up again and again, which disrupted the overall experience. We had an out-of-town guest with us, and unfortunately, the new menu didn't live up to expectations. It leans heavily towards sweet dishes, whereas the old menu felt more balanced and inclusive. This visit fell far short of what we've come to expect from Sumo Mayo brunch, and we're hesitant to return.

Yelp
First time here and won't be my last! What a hidden gem! The vibe is dark, fancy, trendy & has all the feels with a live DJ on Saturdays. Went with two friends and we celebrated one of their birthdays. We had the most delicious desert with a fun sparkler on it as well! We shared multiple sushi rolls, pad Thai, ceviche, sake & more. Definitely something for everyone on the menu because you have Asian and Spanish options. Highly recommend this place & our waitress KAYLA was amazing! She was so attentive, very informative and was always there when we needed something. She will take care of you :) sit in her section. Attention mamas: changing table is located in the large restroom stall! It's a nice metal one on the right side of the wall!

Yelp
Clean Handicap accessible Get reservations It can get busy Food was spot on It can get spicy Forest - gave great service Put him in charge of training ( he probably would not like me saying this) Brunch is a great first meal Then come back for dinner

Yelp
I've been here a couple times and it's consistently amazing. The food is incredible! The bartender, Courtney, was so helpful with the menu and told me about some of her favorite nigiri sushi to try. The wagu steak, Scottish salmon and unagi were all so good. For my entree I got the Dan Dan noodles. I highly recommend coming here to enjoy the ambiance and hospitality. I'll be back again to try some more delicious food and great cocktails made by Courtney!

Yelp
Very chilled place. It's a very relaxing vibe. I stopped by after work one day and was able to partake in HH. If you can not decide between Mexican or Asian cuisine, try SumoMaya! The mixologists were amazing! They were very knowledgeable of the menu and willing to fix up anything you'd mouth desire. They have the best edamame that I've ever tasted. That alone is worth going back! There's live music on the weekends! Accessible entrance. Valet parking available.

Yelp
Great food, different flavors, the way brunch works is pretty solid, wouldn't recommend the bottomless drinks, they time things out to where it's not really worth it. The other odd things inside was the dj, like awkwardly playing towards the front, folks trying to get by, just a bit goofy. Also the valet, maybe it's worth it for them as a business, idk, but its just is a bit much for such a small lot. Great layout, loved being by the kitchen. The plating for bite size servings was a bit extra at times, but that's the point right?
google avatar

Bethanie M.

Yelp
We had a blast here for brunch. The DJ and noise level is super HIGH because it is beyond busy. The food combinations were fun and we enjoyed sharing the entrees as well. The waiter made amazing entree and drink recommendations. Will totally be back.

Yelp
A friend and decided to come here on a Saturday night for dinner. The only table available to reserve was a high top. Once seated the server came quickly and brought water. It took longer to get lemons for my water. We placed our beverage order an got that quickly. She did keep checking for our food order and finally we were ready. Started with wood fired edamame which was good and had a little bite. We both ordered salmon that was tasty and I also ordered the street corn. Everything we ate was good and would good back.

Yelp
Great spot. You'll definitely want to check it out. The atmosphere is great. Very unique and different than other restaurants. The service was great. Our waiter was training and we would have never known. She was great and made some really good recommendations for us to try. The food was delicious. I definitely have to go back to try the f**k it roll. The king crab guac was a great way to start out our meal. I also really enjoyed the shaking beef. With so many great choices here I'll definitely be back. Plus there aren't many places in the valley that to a Mexican Asian fusion and SumoMaya nailed it!

Yelp
I was able to experience SumoMaya for the second time to celebrate a birthday! The opportunity to curate a unique menu for brunch that came out shareable style was an exciting way to explore the menu. The items came out in a flurry, almost too fast but I'm slightly a slow eater. Overall a great experience. The bottomless brunch is the icing on the cake.

Yelp
This place is insanely beautiful! The ambiance is incredible. It offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The bar inside is large, with lots of seating. We made reservations ahead a of time, but they maybe weren't needed. Food was outstanding, drinks were good and the service was helpful and attentive!

Yelp
I have to come back here because I was not able to enjoy it as much as I could have (we had been drinking the whole weekend). First impressions: The inside of this restaurant is really pretty inside, there is a bar right in the middle and a tree as well! Service: service was excellent and couldn't complain. All our food came out quick and the servers attended to us appropriately. Food: we got a bunch of stuff, but my favorite would have to be the sumo rangoons, steak and eggs and the pancake street tacos. I would highly recommend getting the rangoons. We also tried the enchiladas, sushi, parfait(?) and churros. Everything was delicious, I just wish I could've eaten more!!!!

Yelp
Stopped by SumoMaya for dinner with a large group of friends and we had an awesome experience. The restaurant is beautiful and the staff are super friendly and offer extremely quick service. We got a bunch of dishes like the rock shrimp which was absolutely delicious. The tuna tacos were also phenomenal, but the star of the whole dinner was the baller platter featuring a bunch of steak and lobster. The steak was absolutely unreal and the lobster was the best lobster I've ever had in my life, it melted in your mouth like butter. If you're in Scottsdale you need to make it a priority to visit SumoMaya!
google avatar

Yelp
SumoMaya was a really amazing dinner, from the atmosphere of the restaurant, to the staff and of course the food and drinks too. The prices are high but it felt like it was for a reason because you're experiencing something really different when you come here. We tried most of the appetizers and everything was so carefully thought out and delicious. The baller platter was perfect for our group and the sushi was extremely fresh too. No complaints and would recommend this place to anyone visiting scottsdale

Yelp
OK, this was an amazing eating experience. You can't miss having Asian and Mexican food together? How can you go wrong? You know me and my husband has sushi. We had tacos. We had margaritas. We have wine. It was just a great experience. The service was lovely and the ambience. The interior of this restaurant was so beautiful. I really enjoyed myself. I definitely would recommend you to go to this restaurant

Yelp
I visited SumoMaya with a bachelorette party. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice. It's a beautiful dinning room and very large, so it is big for a large group. The food was good. I loved the miso eggplant. It had great umami flavor with a little bit of sweetness. I would definitely recommend that side item. The Spicy Crab Noodles were good, but didn't wow me. I'm was expecting more crab and stronger yuzu flavor. It was mainly just spicy. The service is kind of unique in that the food comes out when it is ready. Interestingly my noodles took the longest and most of the table was done eating by the time I received my food, which meant I had to eat it quickly. I think this probably wouldn't be such an issue if it was a smaller group. Something to keep in mind while dining here.

Yelp
We came here for a date night, and it was fantastic! The food was amazing--we ordered the guacamole, chicken tacos, pork pad Thai, the apple salmon roll (which I didn't get a picture of because I was too hungry!), and finished off with the tres leches cake. Every dish was absolutely delicious. I had a mojito, and it was a perfect pairing with the meal. The service was top-notch. The staff were super attentive and answered any questions we had throughout the night. The atmosphere was great too! The music was on the louder side, but we didn't mind. The lighting is a bit darker, so keep that in mind if you prefer something brighter. The decor was modern and sleek, giving the place a stylish vibe. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would definitely come back!

Yelp
I came here during my friends Bach trip. Unfortunately I have a shellfish allergy and they're unable to accommodate most of their food if you request no cross contamination. Typically a lot of places are able to accommodate but with this restaurant they were unable to, so I didn't have much to choose from and had the cucumber seaweed salad and the broccolini. It was what you expect, nothing amazing. The other food on their menu looked good. My friends weren't too impressed with their food items either. Probably wouldn't recommend but the aesthetic of the restaurant was really nice though!

Yelp
I'm torn between if to rate SumoMaya 3 or 4 stars, closer to 3.5 stars but not quite 4. First, I will mention that getting a reservation at a "regular" table is difficult; I booked quite far in advance since this was our anniversary brunch, and the only option was a high top. That worked out fine for us though (and maybe it's the only option if you a 2 person party?). Second is parking; the parking lot is pretty small so finding is a spot will take work. We were lucky to be able to pull into a spot when someone else left, but I'd say to be prepared to utilize the valet option. We arrived a few minutes prior to our reservation time and were seated immediately. Our server came by shortly after and she did a great job throughout our entire time we were there. She mentioned that we had 2 hours available, we definitely didn't dine that long but you can stay that long. We ordered our entrees first - the steak and eggs & chicken enchiladas. Then we ended up ordering all of the tapas options (other than the bacon and eggs). My enchiladas entree was delicious, I was quite pleased with the flavors and the pomegranate seeds on top was a nice touch! My husband thought the steak and eggs could've been better; the whole dish tasted very oily (not sure if they cook the eggs in oil instead of butter), the steak was tough, and the rice was lacking flavor. Definitely a miss there. From the tapas, we thought the best one was the papas bravas ... super crispy potatoes, seasoned well, and a nice level of spice with jalapeños! Also good were the egg roll (although the sauce on top was a bit too sweet, would've been better with it on the side for dipping), rangoons (pretty basic but well executed), the pancake street tacos (the description sounded a bit odd but everything worked well together), and guacamole (also basic but tasted good). The edamame hummus was a bit weird and the sushi wasn't too great either. Just ok were the calabacitas (the sauce was a bit too ginger-y), mango yuzu yogurt, oatmeal brûlée (way too sweet for our taste), churros, and liquid cheesecake. Everything was presented beautifully, it's quite obvious that even though they get busy, they definitely are attention to detail oriented before dishes come out. We were satisfied after the meal, even though we didn't particularly love any of the dishes. The reason for 3 stars and not 4 is because I would recommend this restaurant to others for this experience. It's fun, different, and you get to enjoy a lot of different things. For us, however, I'm not sure that we'll be coming back, at least not with the current brunch menu. If they had all new dishes, I would because again, it was nice getting to have a bunch of different items.

Yelp
The decor and music add to a lively scene. Love the trendy decorations. We are in the covered patio which was also really nice! Got a small assortment of dishes to try. The seaweed salad had nice presentation, no surprises in the taste. The ancho chicken was prepared well and had good flavor. The yakisoba was a bit disappointing, too Smokey flavor which tasted a bit off. The Chilean sea bass was cooked perfectly and had a great glaze on it, this was our favorite dish of the night! Nice place to celebrate, we saw many groups of bachelorette parties and gatherings. Flavors are good and a good variety of different fusion flavors.

Yelp
Omg! I seen SumoMaya on a IQ recommendation! I'm not normally a brunch guy but SumoMaya has changed my mind! The food and ambiance were perfect! You have 90min to try all you want shambles with your main dish! I can see why reservations are a must!

Yelp
I recently went to Sumomaya for my birthday while visiting Scottsdale from Boston, and I can confidently say it was one of the more disappointing dining experiences I've had. I needed to adjust our reservation from 8 to 9 people, but instead of making it simple, I was told I had to contact the private event coordinator, who informed me they couldn't accommodate the party size. I had to split our group into two tables of 4 and 5, which was already frustrating. When I arrived early to ask the host if we could at least sit near each other, I was told we had to sit outside--despite the fact that it was over 100 degrees. Even though we agreed to sit in the shaded area, there were multiple open tables inside, and it was obvious the restaurant was not full. Worse, they sat us with an empty table in between, separating us from our friends on my birthday. The table between us was literally left empty the entire brunch. The reasoning? They didn't want us moving between tables and "sharing."We were all paying the full price for the bottomless brunch, and yet they treated us like an inconvenience. The menu says you can only order two appetizers at a time, but the waiters put in the full menu without asking, so clearly, they weren't worried about waste/sharing. The food itself was mediocre at best, and the margarita was way too sweet. For a place that seems to pride itself on atmosphere and experience, the poor treatment and inability to accommodate a simple request ruined the experience. I would absolutely not recommend Sumomaya, especially for groups. The staff was inflexible, dismissive, and frankly, unprofessional. That being said, our waiter was a diamond in the rough. He was empathetic, attentive, and personable. While I wont be back, I appreciate him trying to make this a positive experience for us.

Yelp
My sisters and mom brought us to Sumomaya for my birthday. We did have to make a reservation and there is a dress code (we did actually see someone being asked to leave because her shirt wasn't in dress code). Valet and self parking are available. The restaurant is beautiful and the ambiance is really stunning. The food concept is Mexican Asian fusion. There is a large selection of dishes to choose from, truly something for everyone. Our table got some appetizers, some sushi, tacos, rice sides, and pad thai. The star of the show for me was the caramelized plantains. They were so soft and sweet. We got three orders of them, no regrets. Our server was very attentive and gave great recommendations. She explained how the kitchen works, food just comes out and flows as it's ready instead of just holding all the dishes until the entire table is complete. She even gave her very honest opinion of "just how spicy is spicy?" which we appreciated. She even heard it was my birthday and brought over a tres leches cake with a sparkler in it. The cake was amazing and was a really nice end to our evening. Definitely enjoyed our visit.

Yelp
Came here based on reviews. The vibe that you get from this place was the trendiness of it. Definitely need to make reservations here, or you may get turned away. My group got seated in the enclosed outdoor area. It was cold over there due to the opened windows. I'm not sure who decided to leave the area for the wind to get inside. Anyway, we all brought a jacket or a covering of some sort, so that was good. Our table was really shaky, but the waiter was able to fix that for us. Started off with hot sake in a carafe for myself, and after that drink was done, I had the spicy peach margarita afterward. Both were great! The Carne asada was just alright. The chili crab noodles tasted burnt and definitely wasn't spicy. The rainbow cerviche was good, I recommend it. The tres leches for dessert topped off the entire meal.

Yelp
I would give this a 4.5 if I could. Atmosphere and service were 10/10. The reason for less than a 5 is some dishes weren't a hit for us. The Korean beef tacos and bread pudding dessert were amazing and we liked these a lot. The wagyu hot stone was good. We got the sumo maya roll and it was one of the spicier spicy tunas I've had (don't get this If you don't like spicy). I would say the Al pastor of Thai was lack luster but not bad by any means. We would love to come back and try more dishes with more people!

Yelp
Took a client out to dinner last weekend and had an amazing experience. Kenna was our server and she was amazing. Kenna was very nice, friendly and very tentative. We will definitely be back again and will be asking for Kenna as our server.

Yelp
Came here two days ago for a friend's birthday and experienced their bottomless brunch for the first time! I saw some mixed reviews about it but I thought it was a pretty nice brunch. We were stuffed! At our table, there were 7 people. We had another 3 at a separate table. We were seated in the patio area while the other 3 were inside. Waiter took everyone's orders pretty quickly. I arrived 15mins later than everyone else but he got my order in right away. All but one of us did bottomless mimosas. Waiter was attentive and continually topped us off with champagne! They brought out a variety of sides for the table. Not sure if one of us picked and chose specific sides or if they just randomly brought them out. They gave 2 of each side dish. The only sides we did not have was the oatmeal brûlée, pomegranate guac and edamame hummus. There was plenty of food for all of us though. Foods I liked: -Yuzu mango yogurt (5/5) -Sumo eggrolls (5/5) -Papas bravas (seasoned well) -Scrambled eggs (light & fluffy) -Wagyu steak & eggs (5/5) -Liquid cheesecake (5/5) Foods that were okay: -Sumo rangoons (prefer my homemade ones) -Ahi poke bowl -Dan dan noodles (bit salty, but liked the smokiness) Foods I didn't like: -Assorted sushi rolls Didn't get to try: -Pancake 'street' tacos -Calabacitas -Carne asada breakfast tacos -Mini churros Sad I wasn't able to try the pancake tacos and calabacitas. I was just too full!! I was only able to eat 1/2 of my wagyu steak & eggs entree. Two things we didn't like with the experience: 1. The fact that they can't put more than 8 people per table. We had a total of 10 but one of our friends had to make a separate reservation and was put in a separate area. 2. The fact that we cant take any food home. It was a HUGE waste of food and I absolutely hate wasting food like that. There was a lot left on our table. Fun experience, good food and good music. I like a more upbeat vibe like this place for brunch. If you prefer someplace quieter to converse then this might not be for you. Highly recommend making reservations. They get pretty packed for brunch.

Yelp
Came here for a girl's night out dinner and this place was definitely a vibe! What we ordered: crispy rock shrimp, pomegranate guacamole, pescado dorado tacos, seafood paella, wagyu carne asada, pad thai, Mexican street corn, tres leches cake, and the mezcal cremoso. The good: the pomegranate guacamole was our favorite, nicely balanced between sweet and savory and it was a good portion size for an appetizer for three people to share. The seafood paella had great flavoring, spicy enough to be tingly but not too overwhelming. The seafood itself wasn't rubbery so that was a plus. Between the two desserts we ordered, the tres leches cake was our preferred choice. It was light and not as sweet as we were expecting. Usually, I'm not a fan of meringue but I really enjoyed this one. The meh: the pescado dorado tacos were a bit fishier than we were anticipating and the fish was soggy. The pad thai was a bit on the sweeter side than what we preferred. The mezcal cremoso was very overwhelming with the contrasting flavors between the dark chocolate and the mango yuzu cremeux. For drinks we got bubbles and flowers, and spicy peach margaritas. Both were good! Overall, service was friendly, our server was helpful in giving us great recommendations when we got indecisive between dishes. Service was also surprisingly fast considering how busy they were! This place is great for dining out with a group of friends who are down for a good time. I wouldn't really recommend this as a family meal or business meeting spot as it is very loud with low lighting. I highly recommend reservations since this is a prime area. There were many parties waiting to be seated as we were leaving.

Yelp
First time here at Sumomaya for brunch. I would say a fair rating would be 4.5/5 stars for brunch. Also only $39 for unlimited apps and including 1 main dish. We also added bottomless mimosa which was I believe around that same price point. The ambiance feels hip, kinda loud but fun, there's also a DJ at brunch. The food when it came to the appetizer was hit or miss for me. Not a big fan of the egg roll at all. The best was probably the wonton, plantains or guacamole was decent. The patatas bravas were super dry not enjoyable. The entree I got was the Korean fried chicken torta that was just okay. The bread was soggy and that made the chicken breading very wet and soggy as well. I did enjoy the acidity that came from the slaw in it. My husband had the carne asada tacos which was a 10/10. Very nice flavor and tender, also different way of cooking carne asada. Our friends had the posole ramen and the wagyu and eggs. They both claimed were delicious. Service was awesome, the server was prompt and helped us navigate through the menus. The bottomless mimosas or drinks is a nice addition and recommend it if you are planning to have more than 2 drinks. Overall would come back!

Yelp
Ordered just about every food that sounded good on the menu and wasn't impressed to be blunt. To preface, I'm from Seattle and eat a lot of Asian and Mexican cuisine. I do not think they should be together in this manner. Keep it simple. Too much flavors. The spice of the Asian food was too much for me. The fried rice had this creamy sauce I was not a fan of. The pork belly tasted good tho so picked that out of there. Korean tacos had kimchi and didn't like the flavors together. Spice was way too spicy for me and didn't have a good enough flavor to justify. Desserts weren't that great. Service was also pretty slow in my opinion. We came at like 9:50pm and got out of there around 11:30pm. Was really clear tho that we were going clubbing afterwards and they were slow to pick up our check. 4 people and like almost $400 we want fast service especially since the ambiance died down for a Saturday night and the DJ left already. Tummy ache lasted until I came home from the bars

Yelp
Came here on a girls weekend and wow, what a perfect vibe for cool moms ;-P We truly loved everything we ordered, including the chicken dish (most of us were all about the sushi), so I don't think you'll go wrong with anything that intrigues you.. our waitress was also extremely knowledgeable and helpful to navigate the menu / make suggestions. When it came to cocktails, I ordered a Pisco Sour which I can rarely find in most places... so that was a nice surprise. The overall vibe felt classy, unique (that tree!!), upscale, and modern.. enjoy!!

Yelp
DO NOT GO HERE this may be one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had in my life. Not only were we placed out in the patio with minimal heating on at 40° night and told there's "nothing they can do about it", our server rarely checked on us, had us waiting for 45 minutes to get our check while we were freezing, when we finally got our check it had items we never received, took another 20mins to fix, and to top it all off, at the end of our dining experience we were LOCKED OUTSIDE ON THE PATIO. This is a laughable establishment

Yelp
We were celebrating a birthday and I couldn't have been more impressed. Spencer was our server and he was the man, he made things so easy and made my job easy! The food was a one of a kind thing, beautiful presentation, and the flavors were insane ! I loved the open style and layout of this place! I sat by the kitchen and got to watch the show those gentlemen and gentle ladies were putting on! Great experience

Yelp
Very popular Scottsdale restaurant and bar. They offer the uniqueness of an Asian & Mexican cuisine. As a vegan, I was happy to see that they had some special vegan dishes. The salad or vegan crudo was my favorite. The other dish, vegetable roll was okay.. the fusion is not for me. Is more for parties together as it is dark and very loud not an intimate date night location. So bring your friends and have a good time. Was really fun with the mix of Mexican and Asian. And the customer service was five out of five, Excellent.
