"Like several of the places on this list, this jewel in the suburban rough offers two different menus. One’s got orange chicken, lo mein, and beef with broccoli; the other boasts Shanghainese smoked fish, jellyfish salad with the springy texture of noodles, braised pork meatballs so big they come one per order, ultra-tender Nanjing salt duck, and stir-fried loofah with tofu. Choose wisely and then practice patience — the kind folks who run the place move as fast as they can." - Ruth Tobias, Eater Staff

Google
Solid chinese restaurant. Got the dinner for 2, which is a monstrous amount of food. We were shocked how much appetizers it came with. Absolutely loved the Seasame chicken and the chicken and broccoli. The fried chicken and ribs for appetizers were okay, nothing to write home about. Wonton soup, to my delight had little bits of pork as well as plenty of wontons.wonton. Definitely going to come back, just might not get so much food next time.

Google
Found this place randomly, and glad we did. Their selection of Chinese cuisine is truly impressive, especially since the more traditional dishes taste very authentic. The food is seasoned very well, and not overly salted like most places. We will definitely be adding this to our list of favorite Chinese restaurants in the Denver metro area.

Google
Fantastic Chinese restaurant with western and traditional fare that’s worth the one hour drive for us to eat there. Sunflower has been a mainstay for the family for years. The place offers a menu of American and Traditional dishes as well as daily specials depending on what the chef finds in the market. Nearly everything I’ve had there has been terrific and wouldn’t feel out of place in a restaurant in Asia. Try the Wen Shi Tofu Soup - not only is it deceivingly delicious, the knife skills needed to dice tofu that thinly hints at the chef’s talents. Service is good, though they can get crowded at times. Prices are more than reasonable.

Google
Ordered scallion pancakes, combination Singapore noodles, and combination fried rice. Was delivered in shorter time than expected. Thank you. Everything was very fresh and warm and driver followed delivery instructions. Thank you all. I love your Asian food.

Google
I can’t believe I haven’t dined here before! This was my first time eating dinner here, and I was delighted by the authentic Chinese cuisine. My favorite dish was the pork with pickled veggies (mei cai kou rou) although all of the dishes were tasty. The service was excellent. My server, Tan, was super attentive and kind. Thank you for an unexpectedly great dinner! Will be back for sure.

Google
Went here with some family looking for some authentic Chinese food. Our server Tan was very helpful with suggesting some items off of the extensive Traditional menu. The food was great, and there were so many items we had never seen before, like jellyfish. We will definitely be coming back again, Tan said she will suggest some different items every time, and we are looking forward to trying many more dishes.

Google
Love this place for their vegan and vegetarian options. They do have thicker skin veggie egg roles that I love also. Their vegan orange chicken with their egg fried rice is awesome.

Google
The food here is always delicious. The main sever Tan may seem like she’s mad, she’s just concentrating. If you smile at her she’ll smile back. She’s always on top of our order and we love the quality of their food. A family favorite.

Yelp
Enjoyed dining at Sunflower Asian Cafe, certainly one on my shortlist of favorite Chinese restaurants in town. This is probably the only restaurant here specialized in authentic Huaiyang cuisine, a branch of the Jiangsu cuisine, with special attention on presentation and balanced taste. Ordered their Yangzhou combo fried rice, Nanjing salt duck, Yangzhou boiled bean curd strips, fish fillet with sweet rice wine sauce and lamb with scallions. Heard their Yangzhou chowder is also quite popular. Yes, they also have some Chinese American dishes, but you missed a lot if you have not tried their authentic dishes.

Yelp
So I was in the neighborhood and wanted Chinese food and I had never eaten here before. I decided to check it out. Located in an unassuming strip mall area, the restaurant is fairly small but decorated nicely and appeared clean. I entered and a woman said "Sit wherever you want." So I found a seat and proceeded to wait. The restaurant wasn't busy. There were only 2 other tables occupied in the restaurant. I waited quite some time and finally flagged down a server. She was an older lady, who literally was glaring at me as she approached me! I politely asked if I could get some service and she stomped off without saying a word. I was starting to get up to leave when a younger woman came to take my order. I was hesitant to stay, but thought " what the hell" and placed my order. It took quite awhile for my food to come out and lo and behold, it was "Bad Grandma" delivering it to my table. She literally slammed the plate down in front of me and walked away. No offer of a refill on my drink, nothing. The food did taste very good, but rarely have I ever experienced such hostile service. Therefore for me, this is a one and done. I won't return.

Yelp
We were not impressed. I ordered the Chow Fun with vegetables and basically the only vegetables were broccoli and something that may have been zucchini. It wasn't terrible but wasn't great, either. My wife got the Prawns with Walnut and as far as she could tell, they were pecans, not walnuts. Also, the kitchen forgot to make hers, so she had to wait a fairly long time after I had been served. And she didn't think it was very good. We thought the server was a bit surly, and her English was very poor. We felt like we were an imposition on her day. To be fair, she was the only one we saw serving and there were 6-7 tables filled. While we were there, the 1990s called and asked for their decor back. We really wanted this to be better, but c'est la vie.

Alvin S.

Yelp
We did not receive what we ordered. We received items We didn't order and were charged. The food was less than warm. The person who delivered rang our doorbell dropped off the items and ran as if their hair was on fire. No courtesy what so ever. There are too many other places to enjoy. Poor representation of a business model.

Ray K.

Yelp
Authentic Chinese dishes from Dan Dan noodles to chongkin chicken. So much flavors with each dish.

Bill D.

Yelp
I have to concur with so many of the more recent reviews here. The server was indeed rude. She also got my order wrong, and when I reminded her of the correct order, she just scowled and left. Then came back a few minutes later with the correct order. I also concur the food wasn't that exciting, (Panda Express was better) although there was a lot of it. Prices not bad. About right for the quality of food. I can't deal with the rude server, though, so won't be going back.

Rebecca S.

Yelp
Our neighbors kept telling us to try this place so when family was in town we got some take out. We tried so many items and everything was good. My favorite was the cumin lamb. This is a great suburb option and we will definitely try again since it is so close to our house. Next time I want to try it at the restaurant instead of take out. Highly recommend.

Cindy L.

Yelp
They have two menus. Make sure they give you the Chinese menu if you want dishes that are more authentic, but their regular menu offers many solid American Chinese dishes. I really enjoy their spicy cucumber and fried tofu appetizers.

Sherwin C.

Yelp
A fine option if you're looking for Chinese food in the area. Though I tried their Americanized Menu instead of authentic Chinese menu, the options available on the menu and large set of options were impressive and I'd like to try it in the future. With that said, I enjoyed how the Americanized menu still infused some techniques and flavors that made it better than expected. Here's my thoughts on the different items I tried: Vegetable egg rolls: Lightly crisp and healthy tasting. I liked how the wrapper wasn't excessively thick. Shrimp pad thai: Not my favorite preparation, but not bad either. This was definitely a bit more savory and felt like a fusion Chinese-Thai take on the dish. I would have liked it to be a bit sweeter and have more flavor of peanut and onion, but still enjoyable. Kung pao chicken: Tender chicken and pretty good wok-hay. The flavor of the peppers and onions came out nicely and the squash was quite tasty. Sweet and sour pork: Lightly crisp on the batter with tender pork. The sweet and sour sauce is a bit thin, but I liked the fresh peppers provided with the dish. Orange chicken: The best dish I tried. The battery was crisped nicely and the sauce seemed to be caramelized slightly as well, with tender chicken inside. The broccoli crowns were tender and just cooked. Overall, huge portions at reasonable prices with pretty good flavors make this a fine option for Chinese cuisine in the area.

Yelp
Love this place! Very friendly and kind service. Tan helped us with our order. Traditional dishes

Sharon L.

Yelp
Tan was an excellent server The food is fresh and tasty Excellent Soft shell crab excellent

Lily S.

Yelp
I never get disappointed eating here or taking my friends and family to try new dishes. From intestines to scallion pancakes to smoked fish to chili pepper chicken to pig hoof to twice cooked pork to belt fish to lion's head to bean curd threads... everything was wonderful. And what I've listed were not even 1/10 of what they offered. I've been here multiple times, always getting some dishes as staples but trying one or two new items. I love the waitress who always tells me what's fresh and special, what's old and out of season so I almost always hit the jackpot when it comes to ordering the most in-season foods!

Janet D.

Yelp
I was duped by positive Yelp reviews for this restaurant, so I feel I need to give a word to the wise. I can't think of another restaurant in the Denver metro area with service as poor as this. It's as though the staff deeply resents your business. No one will greet you or even acknowledge you with a nod or a glance when you enter, though servers will pass behind the counter numerous times before you have a chance to give your name for a pick-up order. I was eventually shouted at (no exaggeration) to sit down. I waited 80 minutes (1 hr, 20 minutes) for an order that had been placed online well ahead of time, and there was no apology for the wait once it was done. We ordered five entrees and while I wouldn't call any one in our family a picky eater, we had to discard two of the entrees as they contained inedible chicken. Over $100 spent, a very long wait, inedible food, and deeply rude service add up to a miserable experience with this restaurant.

Melissa H.

Yelp
Craving Chinese and have been spending a lot of time in Littleton. This place was about a mile away from where we are so I thought I would have some food delivered. It took over an hour for the food to arrive. Also the chicken in the sweet and sour was way over cooked and the honey chicken was bland and soggy. The quality of food to price ratio is not properly calculated. I won't be ordering from here again. It just missed the mark in satisfying our hankering for good Chinese food.

Wyatt P.

Yelp
1/2. I've visited the place twice the first time was incredible but the second visit was full of disrespect and clearly the staff didn't want us there. The waitress was very aggressive about any questions. If you order boba you will be ridiculed! Goodluck! And if you and unsure about what you want Goodluck! Definitely not a good place for business meetings or dates you will get humiliated.

Andrew D.

Yelp
Tain is the best server! Great food! She provides great suggestions for authentic dishes when unsure. Tain is a trooper being the only waitress here most often.

Sarah H.

Yelp
I am mourning the loss of my favorite Szechuan restaurant and am looking for a replacement. Sunflower was recommended to me by a fellow Yelper whose opinions on such this I hold in high regard, so I gave it a shot. I got type casted! I sat down and was handed a napkin, fork, and an Americanized menu. I flipped through it, confused - it was the standard Orange Chicken, Kung Pao Shrimp, etc. I got my server's attention and asked where the Szechuan menu items were. She returned with a completely different menu for me (though I still didn't get chop sticks)! I took pictures of front and back. Though I'm no stranger to traditional Chinese food, there were tons of things on this menu I've never heard of. I experimented with diced fish with pine nuts (I'm a sucker for pine nuts). It was a good first foray into Sunflower's offering, though I will definitely try something spicier on my next visit.

Barbara C.

Yelp
The best food in town. Generous portion sizes and quick service. Love their Hot and Sour soup!

Barbara L.

Yelp
Great service - seated quickly. Nice variety in the menu and the food was hot and very fresh - especially the guy lan. My favorite go to is the BBQ fried rice. We had very good service from Tan.

Joy Q.

Yelp
Most authentic Chinese food in Denver! Drove a long way there and was not disappointed. We ordered five dishes and all of them exceeded expectations . Truly delicious, authentic, and emphasizes on bringing out the flavor of the food materials themselves instead of just adding heavy flavors You could tell the chefs are professional and cook with passion and attention and care Loved the braised pork with bamboo shoots and boy choy

Joanie V.

Yelp
If you can get past the soup, Nazi style of the server, go for it. Nothing special here, but the rude waitress really stands out.

Laurie C.

Yelp
I have found that the authentic Chinese dishes are outstanding. I come here frequently to enjoy their Chongqing Spicy Chicken. Their soups are delicious and great for bringing home. Tan has served my table and she is efficient, quick, and knowledgeable about their dishes. I will be back!!!

Yelp
Please be careful here with your money- please read. Terrible service, after standing there for several minutes and being blatantly ignored by several servers. The staff member who came checked me out for my pick up order was so rude, unprofessional, dismissive and quite literally scammed me of my money. I was gifted a Visa gift card for $50, I opened it brand new out of the packaging and I spent $20 on gas right before coming to grab my food so I knew there would be the right amount to cover my meal and pay any extra balance with my card. She took the gift card, charged it, and said that there was only $8 on it (impossible) Proceeded to hand me a receipt that said '$8.32 balance remaining' I assumed maybe there was $8.32 left to pay and offered her my card, but she told me it only took $8.32 off my total. In utter confusion I told her, the gift card is brand new and I know there more money on it, she told me to come look at the Ipad that she was checking me out, I looked to see the same amount on my receipt and it said "balance remaining" She proceeded ran a new total for $28.36 ??? The math didn't even add up, but I didn't know what to do as she was getting even more impatient and short fused, so I told her to charge my card. She handed me a receipt that she actually filled out the tip/total information and added a $3.04 tip ??! and told me to sign it? I looked at her clearly confused because typically that part is filled out by the customer and she said it was included to my total already? It all happened so fast and by the time I left I realized I had totally been scammed of the $30 that was left on my gift card and then changed on top of it. I'm baffled. On top of this experience of theft, rude service, the food was completely mediocre. Oh and i'm literally SICK after eating my meal with severe stomach pains and nausea, etc. I would not encourage anyone to give this place a dime of their money, based off of other reviews, scamming and coherencing customers into spending more money without their knowledge until it's too late, is common.

M H.

Yelp
They have the best fried rice among all the Chinese restaurants I've been to! And many more authentic Chinese dishes. Tan is very funny and provides good service. We have become their frequent customers.

Richard G.

Yelp
This is one of the most authentic Chinese restaurants in the Denver area. There actually is a special Chinese menu apart from the regular menu. Everything we have had there has been great from the bao bums to the crispy duck. We haven't had a miss yet. Give it a try. And ask for Tan.

Ly L.

Yelp
The food is very tasty and authentic. I asked for my dishes less salty just because I had too much salty food on the road. This is a Yang Zhou (a city in the central coast of China, food is generally mild with lots of pork dishes) restaurant. There is a Chinese menu which feature specialty dishes, and a regular menu with popular dishes. Another table had a whole fish dish that was gone when they left so it must be good. They don't have enough wait staff so they are too busy and rushed on a Saturday night.

Mike M.

Yelp
This spot is the best! I will be returning very often. Popped in the other night for two entries and an appetizer. Sunflower Asian Cafe is authentic and it is delicious!

Ryan D.

Yelp
This is a great Asian spot in Littleton, CO. The Sunflower Asian Cafe has two menus, one for traditional Chinese and one for Americanized Chinese. My unadventurous family chose the Americanized menu. This choice was the safe option but still satisfying. We started with the vegetable egg rolls. This was a satisfying and light appetizer. We ordered the shrimp pad Thai, Kung Pao chicken, sweet and sour pork, and orange chicken to share at the table. This was more than enough food for the six of us. The food was good and relied on quality ingredients instead of just using sweet overly sauces. Overall, a solid meal that please a diverse set of pallets. Recommended if you're looking for Asian food in the area.

Maria G.

Yelp
Tan our server was fabulous. She was very attentive, refilled her waters and took her order efficiently. Everything came out hot and tasty. We had a new dish tonight, the cumin lamb. Amazing. Very tasty, moist. Tender meat. Just loved it! As always, the Westlake beef soup was super tasty as well! Always love our meal here, and our favorite server Tan.

Trisha S.

Yelp
Dropped in based on reviews. Language barrier with server needed up with us getting an extra entree to pay for. Food was Meh at best.

Lillian S.

Yelp
Food is typical American Chinese food, not recommended for Chinese that know authentic Chinese food. The waitress has such bad attitudes and impatience! We ask for chili sauce, then for chopstick after she brought the chili sauce, she said if there's anything else we need! This is your job to service even you have to walk a mile to serve. I do not recommend this place

Jessica J.

Yelp
I'm sitting here in the restaurant watching every single chef in the kitchen cough over the food. and it's that honking Covid bronchitis cough. one has a mask hanging from her ear. the waitresses are all coughing. I'm deliberating how to ask for my money back or do I just walk out. get some class people. if you're sick, don't work and cough all over the food and wipe your nose with your hand. speechless. sort of.

Catherine M.

Yelp
This magical place!! My partner's favorite and only my second time! The food is so yummy, service absolutely exceptional and our server TAN was so wonderful!! It felt family and we can't wait to come back. I just love it here!! Quite delicious!! Thank you Tan!

Cara H.

Yelp
The good: The egg rolls were delicious. The bad: the cream cheese wontons were disappointing. The service was HORRENDOUS! I had read the reviews before going and I was willing to give it a try because I'm not easily bothered but holy cow they were rude. The rude outweighed the taste of the egg rolls. I won't pay to be treated like that again. Too bad, I REALLY wanted to like this place.

Liesel B.

Yelp
Yum! Super fast delivery. Always yummy. Our staples are Kung Pao chicken, pork fried rice, and many others ...

YY C.

Yelp
Authentic food and huge portion. I hope they don't give us that much and lower the dish price that will be perfect. We ordered a couple of dishes for to-go and it took us over 4 days to finish because everything was in gigantic size! We ended up throwing the food away because we ate the left over for 4 days including lunch and dinner. My husband told me he started to feel sick eating the same thing everyday, same as I. So, we crave for authentic Chinese, we come here. But then, there will be a big gap of time we don't come here again

Marina R.

Yelp
We were sadly disappointed with our meal. We spent $70 on what would have fed our family, but the beef and beef was slimy and the orange chicken was flavorless. We got chicken fried rice, but it didn't have a flavor either. The food here used to be really good, I am not sure if they have new owners or were just having an off day, but I was sick all night and won't be coming back again.

Lujia Y.

Yelp
very good taste of foods, especially the soup, the lion head is the best! And very good service too, Tan helps us to order the food, all her recommendations are very delicious.

Pete G.

Yelp
The 3 stars are for the food which was decent for myself (sesame chicken), my wife (orange chicken) and my daughter (shrimp lo-mein). However, absolutely NO STARS for the rude older waitress. Peruse previous negative reviews regarding the customer service at this place from other customers and you will see a theme! This older waitress is rude, rude, RUDE! Horrible! Just horrible! I acknowledge that she was the only one serving the tables (Friday night, moderately busy) but to go about being as not unpleasant as she was is total nonsense. Also, you do not get soup, egg rolls or veggies with the entrees. It all cost extra and is expensive. We won't be back anytime soon, if ever!

Gilfilen K.

Yelp
I come here with my Chinese wife, and they bring us family style food. so everyone tries everyone else's food. anyway, the food is always fresh, and good and usually quick, unless they are busy, but we go in off hours, so it is always quick. after at least 20 times eating here, it has never been disappointing. it means something when the Chinese people come to a Chinese restaurant. the server Xia is always friendly and quick.

Kim S.

Yelp
Their food is great and my parents love their lunches, but we have been very rudely treated the last 2 times. They made my 90+ years parents get up and move tables after we were all settled in and had been instructed to take any seat. This time I walked in and told them I was there for a pick-up and she just said, "Not ready", and walked away. I realize there may be a cultural situation, but you are in the service business. The waitress who made us move the first visit became very friendly when it came time to get her tip. Not returning - too many other choices.

Kyle R.

Yelp
Great Chinese food. Love this place! My Chinese neighbors recommended it so you know it's legit

Elle R.

Yelp
Food lacked flavor and the main waitress is unfortunately very rude. Spit on my food and plate several times while talking to me...ambiance is okay. A lot of yelling in the back kitchen which was unsettling!!! Hopefully they can turn it around.

Jacky J.

Yelp
I came across this restaurant and was impressed by its excellent local flavor. BTW, their food recalls my childhood in Yangzhou city when I was only 9 years old.

Josnn G.

Yelp
Got sweet and sour chicken. It was so doughy we couldn't even eat it. The crab cheese wontons had a solid type cheese in there with no crab. It tasted bad. I called and she said it was cooked fresh and it was fine. We eat there all the time and never had this problem. It was terrible.

Melanie S.

Yelp
I have to update my review, because we have eaten here several times since and not had an issue with timeliness. After trying other Asian restaurants in the area we had to admit that Sunflower had the best, and most consistent, quality of food. We decided to give it another try and the food was great and on time, so we decided to try it the next time and it was again great and on time. Hopefully the kinks are worked out, because when delivery isn't an issue this place is my favorite nearby!

Sydney K.

Yelp
Very chewy chicken and powdery shrimp. I did not even know shrimp could be powdery until having the shrimp lo mien. Very unfortunate because we love asain food and it is so close to our house.

Fei F.

Yelp
This place is the shit. Totally worth the 30 min drive down from Denver for me. There's a Western and Chinese menu. Order from the Chinese one. I have loved every single thing I've tried, but the standouts for me are the salt duck and boiled fish pot. Also during Dragon Boat Festival they had these legit zongzi with boiled peanut and pork, i took home half a dozen and we were thru them in a week

Steve M.

Yelp
good stuff, scallion pancakes yum...not too fond of thr cashew chicken they put squash in it...I HATE SQUASH! Evrything else is very good, the servers are friendly the beer is cold...just go there, it's great!
