The 38 Best Restaurants in Mexico City | Eater

"Soulful is the best adjective to describe Supplì. The project started as a workshop and cooking class in Polanco and, since November 2023, has evolved into a lovely restaurant inspired by traditional Roman trattorias. From the lowkey, homey menu, start with the supplì with Italian sausage and saffron and the beef carpaccio, followed by the ricotta occhi or mezze alla carbonara from the freshly made pastas. The tiramisu tastes like it came straight from a nonna’s kitchen; it’s well put together but not overly structured, and seasoned just right. The tiny restaurant offers outdoor seating. Know before you go: Walk-ins can take a while, so grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and relax at Supplì Cafe next door in the meantime." - Natalia de la Rosa

The Hit List: New Mexico City Restaurants To Try Right Now

"Located on a charming corner in Juárez with a view of the Reloj Chino de Bucareli, this Italian place serves up delicious food every time, with great prices and an intimate feel. Like most Roman trattorias, their menu is short but sweet, focusing on six different kinds of pasta. The mezze maniche, a rigatoni-like tube in creamy carbonara with strong pecorino romano from Italy, should be at the top of your order. Start with any one of their antipasti, like the crispy croquetas bollito stuffed with mortadella, parmesan cheese, and beef, and pair with an Aperol Spritz. This spot is small and gets packed quickly, so book ahead." - guillaume guevara

Superb food, especially for a vegetarian. Nice little restaurant tucked away with great atmosphere and friendly and attentive service. I dare say the spaghetti was better than I recently enjoyed in Italy!

Great place and location. The restaurant is not so big but can sit on the sidewalk tables. The carbonara, gnochis and salad was amazing. Carbonara even as simple as it looks is a complex plate in the Italian cousine, they got it right. Creamy and a great guanciale. The cocktail of the house was great (has a little touch of mezcal).

Mouth watering Italian food! The best Cacio e Pepe and beef carpaccio I’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend it for a friend, date, family or solo date. The owners are extremely welcoming and the space is a gem, very cozy.

Rome in Mexico City! Extremely authentic vibes, short but delicious menu, perfect wines and extremely friendly owners. We loved this place with only 2 months open it’s a MUST! Congratulations and may you have an amazing success!

I had the carbonara. It was pretty tasty. I liked the ambiance and the service specifically. The bartender was great at making my gimlet even though their weren’t familiar. I feel like they just went above and beyond to accommodate us and the dietary needs as well.

Absolutely delicious! The food was to die for, friendly and helpful staff, reasonable prices, and lovely atmosphere! This is the best Italian restaurant in CDMX by far - much better (and cheaper) than Rosetta or Sartoria. I’ll be back!

While our experience at Roman Restaurant Supplì in Mexico City had some positive aspects, there were also notable shortcomings that impacted our overall satisfaction. Initially, we appreciated being accommodated as walk-ins and found the servers to be friendly and attentive. The menu offerings were intriguing, and we were eager to sample a variety of dishes. However, our excitement waned when our order arrived. We opted for the Suppli appetizer, a salad, and two pasta dishes. Unfortunately, one of the pasta dishes we received was not what we had ordered; we had requested carbonara but were served Amatriciana instead. Despite our limited Spanish proficiency, we assumed this was a simple misunderstanding and chose not to make a fuss, as we are not particularly picky eaters. The real disappointment came with the second pasta dish, the vongole. More than half of the clams in the dish were still closed, rendering them inedible. This oversight raised concerns about the quality control and attention to detail in the kitchen. Serving a clam dish with such a high proportion of unopened clams is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the restaurant's standards. Despite putting all the closed clams off to the side, the servers just cleared the plate without checking in. Overall, while we appreciated the efforts of the staff and enjoyed certain aspects of our meal, the inaccuracies in our order and the subpar quality of the vongole detracted from our dining experience. With some improvements in consistency and quality control, Roman Restaurant Suppli has the potential to earn higher ratings in the future.
