Sura Korean BBQ & Tofu House - Review - Long Beach - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"There aren’t a whole lot of options for Korean food in Long Beach - but that’s OK, because Sura BBQ does it all. It’s a small spot that serves all kinds of soups, bibimbap, and grilled meats. The dumpling tofu soup is huge, hearty, and pairs perfectly with a pitcher of Hite, and the grilled ribeye bulgogi is tender, salty, and garlicky. It’s also a great spot if you’re looking for vegan food - get the ddukbokki, a spicy, sweet stir-fried rice cake. This place is small, and it gets busy, so be ready to wait if you come on a weekend." - Brett Keating

The Best Long Beach Restaurants, According to Eater Editors | Eater LA

"Sura may pale compared to Koreatown’s finest, but this Long Beach restaurant keeps locals from having to trek too far for bubbling tofu soups and crispy-bottomed bibimbap. Diners will find a fun mashup between Los Angeles’s Koreatown and Long Beach with dishes like hand-battered crispy squid, panko shrimp fries, and bulgogi nachos. The dining room is cozy with window-side booths and standalone tables for eating in." - Mona Holmes

Food and service were phenomenal. Parking is tricky and very limited. Small space can have a wait time if you go during a busy time. Lunch specials don’t include the weekend. Our server was outstanding and very helpful, it was my first time there and he made the best recommendations. Now onto why I gave it 4/5 instead of 5/5. The price for 2 people getting 2 entrees and 2 appetizers was $100. For $50 a plate I would’ve like the atmosphere to be better and a little higher class. If it’s your first time here try different stuff they have a great selection and foods fresh.

It was amazing food and pretty authentic in my opinion since returning from South Korea. The staff was friendly . We came on an a slow day and the restaurant basically to ourselves. It was nice and spacious. I’m sure the atmosphere gets even better when more people are around. I will be coming again!

Google
The food was 4/5 I got the beef tofu soup. It was extra hot. Sides were good besides the kimchi. They should taste the batch. Indoor was pretty hot and a lot of smoke due to the kbbq grilling outside. We ask to turn up the ac but they didn’t really do anything about it. Suggestion invest in some fans. Overall staff was nice and food was good.

Google
We found this hidden gem last minute while traveling in Bangkok. It was a pleasant surprise! Great quality and taste. We don’t like too much oil or sauce, and it was exactly that! They were able to accommodate us right before closing and even helped cook the meat for us. Highly recommend!

Google
The food was amazing and came in generous portions. Everything was fresh and well-prepared. Also, our server Megan was so attentive, kind, and genuinely made the whole experience even better. Her service was great from start to finish. Definitely coming back!

Google
Super late review but went here in July 2023 and the K-army stew was the best! I love Korean food and don't always see K-army on the menu so I had to go. My kids got the tofu stew and loved it. And I always love the banchan!

Google
Their waitlist on yelp is not the greatest. We wanted to sit outside and cook our own Korean BBQ, but we were seated inside instead. There was no option on the waitlist that said we wanted to sit outside. Otherwise, the food was extremely good! Our server was really nice and got us everything we needed. Just wish we could have cooked our own for the fun experience. Wait time was very long so it was a disappointment we didn't get to actually do a Korean BBQ.

Google
When I first went vegan, I thought I’d have to say goodbye to Korean food forever. I mean, it seemed like an easy switch at first—plenty of veggies, right? But then you realize just how much fish stock sneaks its way into traditional recipes. So, finding a Korean restaurant as a vegan felt like navigating a culinary minefield. But then, cue dramatic music, we found this place. They’ve managed to recreate all the traditional dishes I loved before going vegan, and they did it without compromising on flavor. It’s like a little slice of my pre-vegan life, but cruelty-free. If you’re a vegan who’s been missing Korean food, this place is a game changer!

Yelp
Overall a great experience! Food was delicious, so much to choose from. Prices weren't bad at all for the amount of food and the staff was amazing and very nice ! Definitely recommend it was a perfect date experience for me.

Yelp
Excellent options, great location and grest service from Ethan!!! Get the 'shroom fries, vegan bulgogi and japche with added tofu.

Yelp
The service was amazing! Our waiter Ethan was so attentive during our time here. The wait time was fairly short for a Saturday afternoon. All the food was delicious, which came out quickly. Definitely will be coming again!

Yelp
Ok. So I've been meaning to come back and give it another try. This place changed a lot! (In a good way!) I'm impressed! My friend and I came back here with my son, this afternoon! The service was awesome! They kept checking in to see if we were ok or needed anything. (It wasn't busy on a Thursday at 2pm-ish. Perfect for a date or meeting!) Anyway, we noticed the outdoors became a KBBQ grill area! So cool! (Not all-you-can-eat... but still cool!) Indoors was so clean and bright and nice! Kinda sad they didn't have the Korean barley tea "bo-ree-cha" but they had a jasmine green tea. Anyway, we ordered the Pork belly sizzling platter (came with rice and kimchi and sesame salt dip because I got us the "ssam dip set" which included sliced garlic & jalapeno, Korean red pepper paste, bed of lettuce to wrap the pork belly up with and sliced sweet radishes to also wrap up the meat. All 3 of us loved it! We also got the beef tofu soup which comes with rice too. Opted for really spicy (not spicy for me) and it was yummy. Great with rice and the mushroom side dish or kimchi! Mmmm! Then, we got the bento spicy pork bulgogi. It came with... (yes, you got it!) rice and some egg & 2 cute fried dumplings and a salad! The kimchi was fresh and crunchy! We all got full pretty fast! Plenty of leftovers for dinner or tomorrow's lunch! Anyway, thanks guys! Everything is awesome! Will be back again! Keep up the good work!

Amount of food for 3 is perfect! My son eat his food so it s mean they are great! Service is Perfect!!! The lady and the man as server work hard to serve everyone at busy lunch time. I appreciate their service. Please try it here i didnt get anything to leave review but I feel like people need to try.

Yelp
Haven't come here in years since they first opened but I was craving some Korean fried chicken so I ordered their Basic Batch (salt and pepper) wings to-go. Was disappointed to learn that they no longer serve them with the coleslaw, it just comes the 8 pc wings and a large portion of fries. The fries are dry and not worth getting. I would've preferred they just offer more of the wings instead. The wings themselves were good, just the right amount of crispiness and the chicken wasn't overly dry. I can't be upset given that their specialty is the kbbq so I'll give that a try some other time.

Yelp
My coworkers and I come here when we crave Korean food during work. There is not many Korean restaurants or Korean food in general in downtown Long Beach, so this is the closest you have to go around that area to get your Korean fix. The first time I came here I was skeptical but then I kept coming back so it must be good! And they are! We usually just get the tofu soup when we come here so I can only attest to that options on their menu. The tofu soup was pretty good and flavorful and their rice is also good. Decent banchan (side dishes). Service can be a bit slow but all the staff were very nice every time we came. There are parking in the park but very limited or street parking, also limited.

Yelp
Just tried this place and definitely recommend it. The food was excellent, the wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable.. with recommendations of what to order. Everything is so fresh and piping hot. The drinks are great... and enjoyed this cute, quaint place in Long Beach.

Yelp
I like this place a lot especially since I love Korean food and at times just too lazy to drive to Garden Grove. A few days ago, I ordered through Uber Eats delivery from Sura. Kimchi jigae soup, a Yukaejang soup and seafood pancake. Loved that they used a pizza box for the pancake to keep it nice and crisp. My kimchi soup was good but very little kimchi cabbage was in the soup. The big disappointment came when I tried the yukaejang beef soup. It was SOOOOO salty, I nearly spat it out. Plus there was a lot of the noodle which soaked up most of the broth. Other K restaurants usually pack the noodles in a separate little plastic wrap so the don't expand and bloat in the soup. Anyhow, this item was super salty so I threw it out. I hope they taste their soups before they serve them.

Yelp
I believe they have changed their recipe for the Vegan Bulgogi or it just wasn't cooked well by the chef. We don't live in the area so last time I came here, I remember it tasting a lot different. It was way better before... I recommend bringing the recipe or chef back from last year. Service also went down. The server we had wasn't attentive and we had to wait a lot longer than usual. We didn't plan to stay there as long as we did, but it took long for someone to take our order, receive our order, receive any service, and the check. I wanted to ask the server if they changed the recipe or chef due to the vegan bulgogi, but I was afraid he'd take too long to answer lol I didn't like having to sit in the middle of the restaurant as well. I'm sure the booth in front of us felt uncomfortable with us staring their way due to the seating arrangement. Is there new management or something... because whatever changed from last year to this visit has made this restaurant go down. I tried to pay in cash, but they only accepted card. It was less than $100 plus 20% tip. I was really disappointed. I'm hesitant to come back again...

Yelp
Sura has unique tofu soup options such as spam and cheese, pork bellly, and they have a combination of beef, seafood, and mushroom which was pretty good. The pork belly had a lot of flavor! I love that they have vegan options as well which you don't see a lot. The service was good, and I like how they have an option to sit inside or you can sit outside and cook kbbq. Finding parking is very hard. If you're lucky, you can find parking behind the restaurant that are reserved for them.

Yelp
my friends and i wanted to celebrate two of our friends birthdays and we picked sura because our friends from long beach recommended this place. this is actually my 2nd time dining here but my first time was indoors and they don't have grills inside, only outdoors if you want to grill meat. they do serve cooked meet if you're seated inside. our server was so attentive and he was so fast to bring whatever we needed so i appreciated that. he was basically the only server outdoors so that was pretty impressive. the quality of the meat is so good and all the banchans are also really good. next time i visit, i wanna try their drinks cause they looked really good and even had the light up ice cubes!

Yelp
We enjoyed the food and service here! We have been planning to come and try this place out and the visit was a perfect time right before the lunch rush came. We ordered all vegan from the menu. My favorite was shiitake fries. It was very crispy and tasty. We enjoyed all the food that we ordered. Th cocktails were also enjoyable. We were seated inside and for the KBBq style grilling customers are seated outside. Nice! Staff was helpful. Can't say anything negative.

Yelp
Sura sticks out like a sore thumb, being one of the few Korean restaurants in Long Beach!  The location was small and busy, but the delicious aromas made the long wait bearable. A super bubbly worker gave us a thorough rundown of the menu, so we ordered a few of the top sellers. The Japche tasted great, but really sweet and hardly any sesame oil. The Pork Belly Tofu Soup came loaded with tofu and pork with a pre-cracked egg. For my fellow spice aficionados, Medium Spicy soup had zero heat, so do with that what you will. To our surprise, the most memorable dish actually sat among the banchan - the Potato Salad! It was sooo good that I had to ask the waiter for their secret (& yes, he shared and then we all shared giggles.) It's a guilty pleasure, and I'd eat buckets of it if I could!

Yelp
Booked a reservation for 8 outdoor so we could try the Korean bbq (patio only) but when we arrived, we still had to wait 1.5 hours to be seated together (they were willing to seat us separately earlier). Not sure why they allowed us to make a reservation and confirm it over the phone same day when we still had to wait just as long to be seated as walk-in. Maybe it was just an unluckily busy day as they had a very large party before us. Regardless, the food here was really good! The only place that I know of with a vegan bbq option (Pharaoh's combo)! The vegan garlic shrimp and marinated bulgogi were both delicious! The mushrooms were just plain but still really yummy grilled. We grilled the rice cakes too to get them caramelized and crispy. Japchae and vege tofu soup were also delicious. Vege dumpling were alright. But the kitchen gave us an extra set on the house since they had extra! With two large combos in our party, the table quickly got filled up and it was actually stressful to have space to put everything. They gave us a little stool to put extra dishes but the lack of space made the experience super chaotic. I'd suggest they pace out serving the dishes better cause they basically brought out everything at once.

Yelp
It's disappointing when you get there just when they opened and there's already no parking spots left in their private lot. We had to circle around and find street parking. There were multiple homeless people we encountered walking back to the restaurant, I can't imagine how much worse it is at night. Patio is for BBQ dining, we weren't planning on eating BBQ so we sat indoors. The menu is extensive, lots of vegan options as well. The owner/manager was really nice. Food tasted good and portions were big. I loved the seafood pancake but it could've been a little crispier. My friend didn't like it because it was too soggy for her.

Yelp
Service - Friendly, sweet, and chill. Our waitress was super cute (personality-wise)! She was a joy to have serving us. Thank you to the delightful waitress with the red hair! Ambiance - The place is cozy! Not super big but not incredibly small. I would say it's medium size, leaning towards small. It's clean and neat. There's seating outside and inside. We chose inside! (Mainly because I didn't want my mom seeing the crematorium since she's superstitious). Food - DELICIOUS!! I'm so happy I made the drive up with my mom. I've been wanting ACTUAL vegan Korean style dishes. They delivered. My only complaint with the rice cakes and Beyond tenders was that they used too much sauce BUT the upside is we dipped other foods in the sweet, spicy (not that spicy), and slightly tangy sauce. The fries were pretty bomb though! Hot and fresh :) Dosiraks - Both vegan and non-vegan versions had the same stuff EXCEPT the vegan excluded the egg. The banchan were pretty good! Not overly salty or sour. The lotus root slices were actually my fave side!! The next time I come back, I may just ask for more of that instead of the cucumber banchan. The dumplings were pretty tasty. Nice and hot and crispy. The filling was okay, nothing to write home about but good as a side. For me, the vegan bulgogi flavor was pretty good. However, the texture of the "meat" itself felt a little too spongy? Maybe it was the brand they used or how they prepared it. However, I could look past it. My mom appreciated that the galbi here wasn't overly sweet. It had the sweetness you'd expect but it felt balanced enough with the savory side. The rice felt "dense" but not in a bad way. I'm not exactly sure how to describe it but it had a "chew" to it. Wasn't fluffy nor soggy but we didn't mind it at all. I believe both my mom and I liked how the rice was! Drinks - I had the honey yuzu tea! It was okay. I wouldn't call it again. I liked the yuzu bits but it didn't have enough sweetness or yuzu/citrus flavor to it for me. My mom got the barley tea and she said it was very refreshing. Good and fragrant. Overall, I'm happy with Sura! I will definitely come again when I get the chance in the future.

Yelp
There are very few restaurants I've been to over the years that get consistently better; Sura is one of them! Watching their restaurant evolve over the years of living in Long Beach has been beautiful. The renovation of the dining room, addition of bar and bbq area has truly brought this restaurant to a new peak. Today I had the Naengmyun Cold Noodles which were absolutely top notch with beautiful pieces of brisket, a luxurious soft boiled egg, amazing noodles, and a refreshing broth. This was a new addition to the menu that blew me away. Our server, Isaac, was excellent and elevated our dining experience as well. I love Sura KBBQ. Easily one of my favorite restaurants in Long Beach.

Yelp
VEGAN HEAVEN!!!!! For $70 you get a whole vegan feast of KBBQ. This was my second time going there and service is just awesome. Super friendly and helpful!!

Yelp
I love love love love this place so much that I actually decided to order for delivery on Uber Eats instead of going there to eat and the delivery was fast, the food was still cooked perfectly, it was packaged perfectly and everything was delicious. I wish they still had the Coleslaw with the Korean Wings, it was THAT good, BUT I'll definitely let it slide because of the fact that they always hit it out of the park. I'll be ordering again.

Yelp
Joined the Yelp Waitlist for a party of 4 on a Saturday night and was seated inside within 20 minutes! We found parking further down the street and took a short walk. There were so many good options and we had a hard time picking what to eat, but we each ended up getting something and then sharing the Bulgogi Fries. Portions were big, filling, flavorful, and delicious. Very generous with meat portions and everything was 5/5 stars NO COMPLAINTS!! My friend lives in Long Beach, this place is now a staple when I visit her! Soju Capri Suns are also buy one get one for $1! Great promo, strawberry yogurt was the servers recommendation and it was so sweet. As someone who hates the taste of alcohol I loved it! I ordered the Kimchi Stew and it was so flavorful and satisfied all my soup cravings. After a full day at the beach, I really needed something warm and comforting. Bulgogi Fries are HUGE, all the sauces work so well together, and it was a good shareable for 4 people. Spicy Pork was soft and had plenty of onions underneath, wayyy better than BCD. IMO this place beats BCD because the meat is higher quality and there are more options, including an entire vegan menu. I'll try something else next time I'm here and work my way through the entire menu!

Yelp
Saturday night so I used YELP to get in line before leaving my place to walk over! Seated immediately at 6:20 upon arrival. 95% of tables full and a small line already forming! Went with a gal pal who hasn't had much Korean food so after a quick lesson in the difference between kim chee (one of many banchans) and banchan we ordered just two dishes - the problem of going to such a place with only 2 people is you can order only so much. The thinly sliced, no fat, spicy pork was delicious. It might seem a bit pricey but when you get no fatty pieces and stop short of licking the plate, you know it's worth it. We also did the Japchae which was the first dish I loved in my Korean food love life of 40 years. Sura did a great job as it had the just the right amount of thinly sliced carrots and onions and was dotted with a few mushrooms. Also it was NOT greasy, which too often happens at Korean restaurants. I've got to pop in for lunch or their all day Tuesday Happy Hour!

Yelp
I have ordered here 3 times already. The food is good. They have a bunch of vegetarian options which I truly appreciate as it is hard to find good Korean food that I can actually eat. They always give good portions and I love the sides it comes with.

Yelp
Pretty amazing. We came around 8pm on a Wednesday night. Seeing we didn't have to wait long for a table outside to cook on our own, we expected the portions to be smaller because it wasn't considered AYCE. The outside patio was lit well, no overhead ranges to catch smoke, just a well-ventilated outdoor patio with maybe 10 tables for guests. We ordered the Moo platter, consisting of all great meats, from brisket, to our choice of boneless kalbi, to beef belly. For an adult party of 5, when the menu said a large platter feeds 3-4, that was an understatement. With my brother tagging along, and trust me he eats for 3 people, even a machine like him couldn't finish the amount of food we had. Aside from the classic banchan, we opted for the full order of all the smaller sides as well, from fresh garlic, jalapeños, and sides of rice, the meal was well-rounded that it also included an order of spicy tofu beef soup, dumplings, and tteok-bokki (I think as it was rice logs cooked in gojuchang and sesame seeds). The staff was great at reminding us to change out the grill, as well as providing everything we asked for and not making us feel like we've been ignored. I really hope they expand in LA proper as we need more KBBQ restaurants like these!

Yelp
Best place to get bibimbap in lb I frequent this place for the hot stone bulgogi. Constantly sizzling and doesn't cool down. Its a dynamic meal. It's a pretty decent serving and I don't feel like I ate junk afterwards. kind of pricey but it's worth the money. Just look at my photos. The interior was recently redone. I don't remember the booths being this nice. They use the Yelp waitlist and have lots of specials during the week. They have neat capri sun alcoholic soju drinks and Korean bbq on the patio on certain days. Aside from the tiny parking lot, everything here is great.

Yelp
Food was definitely good here and tasty! Service was decent and friendly. Had dinner outdoors and it was a nice setting to eat out. In a busy part of downtown Long Beach but it wasn't too bad. Food was filling and delicious and would highly recommend trying out.

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't left a review for this place since I've ordered lunch from here many many times! The first couple times I had food from here was when I came to have dinner with my parents and then one time just with my mom where we also got drinks. This was YEARS ago before the remodel. They've spruced it up a bit since then, with a nice bar area and seating inside and outside on the patio facing Atlantic. The ambiance definitely passes the vibe check and I cannot wait to dine in-house one of these nights. Onto the food - I usually order through UberEats, but I have also gone to pick it up myself since it is close enough to my work. Everything comes nicely packaged. My go-tos are the Bulgogi Bibimbap Bowl, the Japche, the mushroom tofu soup and their mushroom fries! Sooo soo good. I love that they have PLENTY of vegetarian and vegan options to cater to a variety of appetites :D Once in a while I'll order a plate instead of the bowl because I like all the banchan that comes with it - especially when they have the lotus root. That stuff is delicious! The times I've gone to pick up I have usually found a spot to park in their little hidden lot. But I must warn, the lot is small and shared with other businesses/offices and a hotel, and many of the slots are not shared. The staff are really friendly and helpful when I'm sitting there waiting for my food and will answer questions I have about the food and will also recommend other things to try in the future based on what I ordered. All in all, such a yummy place to get food from! Go and wake up your palate; your taste buds won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Vegan friendly and delicious. Will come here again whenever visiting. Dumpling soup and mushroom soup very good.

Yelp
We went here last week after we heard they did a revamp. We use to go here years ago when we lived in the area. The place looked awesome though a little dark. We ordered the staked egg, brisket soup, and the beef tofu. The 4/5 rating came from the brisket soup and steamed egg that were great, but the beef(diced ribeye) was chewy and tough. The Banchan was very good. I would definitely come back to try other items on their menu

Yelp
Bulgogi Bibimbap BOWL- Super duper good! Would get again! I love how big the portions are. Korean Fried Chicken Wings- The chicken was extra crispy and juicy. Shiitake 'Shroom Fries- Very flavorful and crunchy! The mayo sauce was tasty as well. VEGAN Bulgogi- My vegetarian friend was very impressed with the imitation bulgogi and it was very flavorful and tasty. The side dishes also were tasty, specifically the mushrooms. Parking was free, behind the restaurant though it was very limited and hard to distinguish from the residential parking. Overall, would come back!

Yelp
We joined the waitlist but never got called. We were next and they sat other people who walked in. We had to tell someone we were waiting and then they sat us. People were waiting outside and there were at least 6 tables open. Maybe a hostess would be helpful? It was pretty noisy and lovely which was nice. Our server was very nice and helpful as well. As far as the food, Banchan dishes were not very good at all to us. Everything seemed more on the bland side from what we are used to. As far as the food we ordered, we got the Korean pancake, which was just OK. We took at least 2/3 of it home. We got the Bibimbap which was good but scorching hot the entire time. Most of that was also taken home. And then we got the kimchi stew with pork belly. This was also just OK. It honestly reminded me of packaged Ramen flavor. We wish we would've loved it more. We usually go to Kaju in Garden Grove, which is by far so much better. We only chose this place because we were watching a movie nearby. For the people giving this place these great reviews, please take a drive to Garden Grove! You'll be amazed!

Yelp
Love love love how there's so many vegan options here! Haven't had banchan (korean side dishes) in so long because other spots always have fish sauce or something in their banchan. We had two rounds of banchan during our meal because they were sooo good! We got the LB Mushroom Tofu Soup which really hit the spot. The vegan bulgogi was kinda disappointing. Wouldn't recommend that. The rice cake skewers were probably my favorite on the table. Flavored so well. They were perfectly crispy on the outside but chewy on the inside. The scallion pancake was also supppper yummy and super filling. We also got boba but it was meh. We came on a Saturday night so had to wait a bit but not too long and staff were really friendly. For those looking for parking, they have a small lot behind the restaurant.

Yelp
I'm really glad that they finally have this. We went around Thursday night & it was around 8pm. We thought that it wouldn't be busy. But it was packed. We didn't have to wait long. The servers accommodated us quickly. Honestly, if there was a long wait, I would've waited. I think it would still be worth it. The best thing I liked was when the servers would immediately change the grill once it gets charred. The menu for the kbbq, it came in like a package. My party was only of 2 people & it got us full & we even had leftovers. Initially we thought that we couldn't take it home. But unlike a normal AYCE, you are able to. Which is a huge plus for us. The food was great. It was flavorful, with and without the sauces. The sides were great. Some were non-typical sides for AYCE, it would be an up charge or something. I totally think it's worth the price.

Yelp
I'd like to dedicate this review to my late brother who would've been 32 today and was the first in my family to go vegan. This one is for you... Never did I think I'd ever fully enjoy a Korean BBQ restaurant again now that I've gone plant-based. Sura proved me wrong and is the quintessential vegan-friendly KBBQ that you can find here in Southern California, and I am a fan. My friends and I made an evening reservation on Yelp and I'm so glad we did. Although our party was a bit late from LA traffic, we were able to be seated with half our party to get the night started. First off - all the banchan here is vegan by nature. Love that I could enjoy classics like kimchi, potato salad, and pickled daikon without asking whether there were any animal products used. You must order an entree to receive banchan, but order we did. We went through a lot of main dishes together as a group. Some of the highlights include their Fried Mushrooms (AMAZING appetizer and perfect for a huge party), Japchae, Tteok Bokki on a stick, and their Mock Meat KBBQ Kalbi. Everything was priced well, portions were generous, and everything tasted delicious. Many of my non-vegan friends agreed that no quality nor taste was lost just because it's plant-based. Being able to spend time with friends over KBBQ is something I never thought I'd have again, and Sura truly brought back that nostalgia. Thank you so much Sura for the great food, service, and experience. I definitely can't wait to return again one day.

Yelp
This place has just gotten better and better! Loren really took care of us. Took our orders and the banchan came out lightning fast. I got the Bulgogi Bibimbap in the hot rock bowl. It was awesome. Perfectly cooked rice, high quality Bulgogi steak, crisp greens, and topped with a fried egg. We also got the seafood pancake appetizer. That thing was packed with squid for the price. A meal in itself. Our table also enjoyed the tofu soup at a medium spice level and it was plenty hot. There were 3 levels available above that, which is wild because this level nearly took our faces off. Very tasty, but not weak sauce by any stretch. We also got the $2.99 macaron ice cream sandwich for checking in on Yelp. I highly recommend getting one. It was a great way to finish off the meal. Everything we have ordered here in our last 2 visits we have really enjoyed and the wait staff is really on top of it.

Yelp
I bring all of my vegetarian and vegan friends here. This is the one place that offers vegan friendly options that does not taste like cardboard and sticks. They're really providing something hefty and leaning into the bold and punchy flavors of Korean cuisine to map out their menu. I'm always worried that my friends will leave a restaurant not full, but here I have no doubt about it because their items are well rounded and full of variety. The banchan is elevated, the vegetables are cooked well, proteins are well seasoned. Of course, as a tofu house, get something with tofu. Don't be stupid. Staff are also chill and attentive by checking in often and telling you what you could expect to order.

Yelp
INSANE FOOD (with a TON of actually delicious Vegan options ‍) Always quick to be seated, extremely friendly and fast service, and when I used to be a regular here (I worked close by), they always went above and beyond with refilling banchans and even gave me a free sampler of their taro ice cream! This place is so cute and cozy, truly an all-seasons spot to eat and decompress after a busy day. 100/10 recommend (I miss you guys!!)

Yelp
We came here because our friends are vegetarian and wanted to try some of the vegan options on the menu. My husband and I had the spicy pork bulgogi and I had the bulgogi bibimbap, we were all very happy with our meals. The sides were also generous and tasty. We also appreciated that the chopsticks were all metal and reusable. On top of that, the service from our waiter Ethan was superb! Everyone was very attentive and we had a great time :)

Yelp
We came here during the flash flooding. There was parking in the back in their lot. We walked in and it was still packed. We only waited for like 5 mins. It was cold in there because they only have 1 setting for the AC. They also have a tiny bar area. We got the corn cheese, Spicy Brisket Soup (Yukgaejang), melona drink which they made it with soy milk, and Korean fried chicken. The spicy brisket soup is perfect for rainy or cold day. It was mild spicy and so much food worth the bang for your buck. The fries were amazing with the Korean fried chicken as I think they put old bay seasoning but they need to give more ketchup packets. The soju was pretty good. I can see why this place is popular.

Yelp
My husband and I love Korean food, we are vegetarian. We ordered everything vegan as we don't eat eggs. We enjoyed the food, the side dishes and fried mushrooms were too good so as spicy hungover Ramen.

Yelp
I've been to Sura a couple times now and I've had great experiences. Both times, Lauren was our server and she is incredibly friendly. Her energy fills up the room and you can tell she is a great person. My top recommendation would have to be the Korean Fried Chicken Wings! They are crispy, juicy and flavorful. They also come in different flavors and you have the option to choose two. For outside grilling, you must try the Spicy Pork and the Ribeye Steak! If you are a party of two-four people, I recommend you order any KBBQ combo that includes a variety of meats and different sides including corn cheese, rice cakes, vegetable potstickers, beef tofu soup, white rice, and banchan.

Yelp
I decided to get takeout over the weekend and was very disappointed with the service and food I received. The moment I walked in, I wasn't greeted and had to wait for someone to assist me. When I placed my order, the staff member didn't seem familiar with the menu. Once I got home, I found that the pancake was burned, part of the lecture wrap was bad, and the soup was bland.

Yelp
I dined at Sura KBBQ last night, and it was sooo good. My fiancé and I opted for the deal for two people, and it definitely was worth it. The deal for two people offered is great for the price. The amount of food you get and the quality of the ingredients make it From the moment we walked in, we were greeted & our server was attentive & friendly. If you're in Long Beach and craving some KBBQ, this is your spot!

Yelp
Been here twice. Once for open air KBBQ (which is only seated in their patio) and a lunch inside (for non KBBQ meals). The KBBQ is NOT AYCE but honestly my husband and I were full by the end of our meal. The meat is portioned and it's select cuts, but they offer so many sides in their price that it makes for a filling and satisfying meal. The second meal was ok. I got the rose tteoboki and maybe I messed up getting it with Ramen, but it was not my favorite. Not bad just something about it was not for me. The little sausage that are in it though, those were so good. They had an amazing snap at the bite. Both times the servants were very attentive and nice. I forgot my purse in my chair and while they tried their best to get my attention to return it to me. I did not notice in time. When I did finally notice and I gave them a call, they told me they had it stored and that it would be waiting for me. I was a bit embarrassed, but they were so nice about it. Atmosphere is chill. Pricing is fair. Portions are good.

Yelp
We had a good time at Sura but the parking situation is tricky and they have poor ventilation. I recognize that kbbq will leave you smelling but this place was extra smelly even though we sat inside where the tables don't have grills. The food was good but nothing to write about. I would skip the seafood pancake as it's super doughy and barely any seafood. Better Korean food is out there. The portions were nice and big though!

Yelp
So thankful this place exists!!! We are vegetarians and there are no plant based Korean BBQ options anywhere. It's amazing that this place offers both real meat and vegetarian options. We absolutely loved everything we had: banchan side dishes, japche, rice cake skewers, vegan panko shrimp fries, and vegan bulgogi. Our only complaint is that the vegan bulgogi wasn't cooked enough, it needed a little more time on the grill to get that slightly charred flavor. Otherwise, everything else was incredible and we can't wait to go back. Our server was also extremely friendly and attentive. Thank you for having fantastic vegetarian options!!

Yelp
We went to their Happy Hour on a Thursday and I tried to order all the vegan options haha. It's so rare to find great happy hour deals that include a great variety of plant based options. I ordered the Crispy Rice Cake Skewers, Shiitake Shroom Fries, Scallion Pancake and the Crispy Dumplings. They even had a vegan Shrimp option, but I missed it when ordering, hopefully I can try it next time. The Shiitake Shroom fries had this vegan garlic aioli that went perfectly with the crispiness of the batter used on the fries. The Crispy Dumplings were another favorite of the table, the sauce served with them made it even more mouthwatering. The scallion pancake and crispy rice skewers were flavored nicely but it was a lot to eat! I would order just one

Yelp
Reserve in advance if you can! We didn't get a text when our table was ready even though we put our phone number down, but our name was called and we got seated all within 20 minutes. The vegan kbbq option is tasty with lots of sides! Great pricing for all that you get. Unfortunately one of our royal trumpet mushrooms were spoiled and tasted sour :( but everything else was good. You can tell that the serves are busy because the place is crowded, but they do their best to be attentive and give you everything you need!
