13 Great Birria Tacos In Chicago - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Taco Boom has two locations—a food truck parked at 47th & Keating, and a recently opened brick and mortar space in Lincoln Square. Whichever you decide to visit, you can count on eating some wonderful variations of birria tacos. Like the quesabirria, which is served almost like a quesadilla and filled with beef and melted cheese, and comes with a consomé that has a great amount of spicy heat. There’s also a birria pizzadilla: A double-decker quesabirria that’s topped with a layer of caramelized panela cheese. And if you ever find yourself hungover (or just in the mood for something cheesy and delicious), it will definitely save you." - adrian kane, veda kilaru, john ringor, jessica rome

The Best Things We Ate This Week August 31, 2021 - Chicago - The Infatuation

"This food truck recently opened a casual brick and mortar space in Lincoln Square, so we swung by to check it out. The quesabirria was fantastic, but we want to take a moment to call out their birria pizzadilla. If you ever find yourself hungover (or just in the mood for something cheesy and delicious) the double-decker quesabirria filled with tender beef and topped with a layer of caramelized panela cheese will save you." - adrian kane

Chciago’s best new tacos | Eater Chicago

"The quesabirria craze arrived in Chicago last year and this South Side food truck was one of the first to get in on the action. The Tijuana-style birria de res tacos — originally popularized in Los Angeles — feature slow-cooked beef and melted cheese tucked inside a red-hued tortilla that’s been crisped in the meat’s fat. A cup of consommé, meant for dipping or sipping, accompanies the dish. Taco Boom can be found at two locations: 4753 W. 47th Street and at the interaction of 79th Street and Lawndale Avenue. Check Instagram for the most up-to-date info." - Jeffy Mai

Went to try taco boom it should be called taco meh, got the birria pizza and flautas de birria an agua de jamaica and a fresa horchata. Birria had very little taste what helped was the consome which was still mediocre. The agua de jamaica was sour needed more sugar, the strawberry horchata was a bit better. Would go back for a second chance but not sure. Try this at your risk it can be a hit and miss maybe.

Okay I did come at a late time like at 8pm but I don’t think anytime is acceptable for super dry meat and very stale tortillas. The meat was so dry that it would get stuck when swallowing. The amount of salsa sauce they gave us with 7 tacos was very little! In the smallest containers ever! Enough salsa for only 3 tacos. The customer service was great! Which is why it gets 2 stars. Also found a bone in the asada taco! If I had a kid that chocked I would’ve sent the hospital bill! Ridiculous. The only thing I would say was good is the BOOM agua fresca. The Jamaica and horchata were extreamly watered down and not sweet enough.

We ordered a bunch of tacos, and the meat and tortillas were dry. I wouldn't have posted about it because we typically really like this place. I fed my baby the rice and didn't taste it first. I took a bite, and it was very sour and had gone bad. This is absolutely not acceptable as a food establishment.

We tried the asada burrito diabito and al pastor tacos, al pastor handsdown 5/5 they were very hot and fresh. The asada burrito i wish it had a bit more char to it the meat was a bit to gray and found a nerve or 2 if it was browned a bit more would have been a 4/5 but the cheese over the burrito made it difficult to eat beacuse it was too greasy 3/5. Overall 1 drink, 4 rather big tacos, 1 burrito, chips, gauc was 40 bucks. There birra tacos are the go to we just wanted to try something else ovetall great price!

Mostly a pickup joint outdoor seating. Had chicken tacos which were amazing. Also the Diablo burrito with chicken. The burrito had melted cheese and a red tortilla favor was amazing. Would go again. May not be a great spot to wait in winter!

20 minutes to wait for tacos is way too long, in my opinion. Went around 8ish and ordered a total of 8 tacos for a group of 3 along with their strawberry horchata, which was ok. Also got a jarrito, which was room temperature. The asada meat was very fatty and lacking flavor. When the order was ready, I heard a little yell from the other end of the window. Maybe a small speaker to announce your order might be helpful, so you're not damaging your vocal cords. Hey, at least I gave them a try. At least the customer service is good.

Best tacos I have ever had .the skirt steak is very flavorful and well marinaded .. try the special tacos … amazing. They have guacamole and everything. 20$ for 3 really huge tacos . But very well worth it .
