This cozy taco joint boasts a relaxed vibe and serves up creatively stuffed tacos, including a must-try fried egg option, perfect for casual dining.
"Vegetarian and vegan tacos are the stars at Tacos Oscar, a casual Mexican place operating out of a Temescal shipping container. Yes, a couple of solid meat options exist—like the saucy picadillo, and beef and lamb barbacoa—but the ones full of vegetables are more interesting and complex in flavor. The taco de papa is a salty, fried, potato-y dream loaded with chile morita mayo and a handful of scallions. And the charred broccoli is nicely smoky, dressed up with crunchy peanut-arbol salsa and pickled onions. Order off the frequently changing menu at the sidewalk window, head to the cozy back patio with the other diners in thrifted graphic tees, and strike up a conversation about roller skating at the lake while you wait." - Julia Chen
"Tucked into a shipping container in Temescal, Tacos Oscar has some of the best tacos in town. It’s inspiringly vegetarian-friendly, with options like a charred broccoli taco with peanut-arbol salsa, pickled onion, cilantro, and a tostada topped with Early Girl tomatoes, lemon cucumber, sikil pak, fried almonds, Castelvetrano olive salsa, and opal basil. Meaty items like the pork chile verde taco are equally craveable." - Dianne de Guzman, Eater Staff
"A major pop-up and restaurant player participating in the Aswat/أصوات event to raise money for Gaza Mutual Aid Solidarity." - Paolo Bicchieri
"Designated as a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant in 2021, Tacos Oscar continues to live up to the hype. The inventive, rotating menu of tacos made with handmade tortillas draw long lines and for good reason. If you see them, snag a tomatillo-braised pork shoulder or a renowned fried egg taco drizzled in “magic chile oil,” but don’t sleep on the vegan options either, especially the peanut-y charred broccoli or the flavor-packed mushroom mole coloradito tacos." - Lena Park, Dianne de Guzman
"The dream collab we’ve been waiting for since March is finally here: Salvadoran pop-up Popoca and Tacos Oscar are teaming up for one night only on Tuesday, May 4th. The menu features a braised short rib taco, black bean tamales, and, of course, Popoca’s cheesy pupusas with green garlic and a griddled jack cheese skirt. Walk up to order from 5-9pm (or until sell out). They’re also donating 10% of the event’s proceeds to Asian Pacific Islander Equality - Northern California. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation
