This rustic, hip taqueria adorned with surfboards offers an indoor bar & a patio with picnic tables.
"You’ll find Tacoway Beach inside Rockaway Beach Club, a surf shack and outdoor bar located off 87th Street. The fish tacos are the move. They come two to an order with cabbage slaw, lime, aioli, and salsa verde on the side. There are a few vegetarian tacos, including one with tofu, plus chips, guacamole, and sides. Wash it all down with a pineapple mint juice." - Eater Staff
"If you want to eat the best fish tacos in NYC, you're going to have to get out of Manhattan and hit Rockaway Beach, where—during the summer months only—you’ll find a restaurant called Tacoway Beach inside of a surf club. Flaky tilapia is heavily battered, fried, and served super crispy in a corn tortilla with slaw, crema, radishes, and lime. We recommend ordering all of your tacos "deluxe" with just the right amount of guacamole on top. While we don't necessarily suggest doing anything other than ordering as many fish tacos as your body can handle, the chorizo and tofu tacos are solid too." - neha talreja, kenny yang, carina finn koeppicus, willa moore, will hartman
"Tacoway Beach operates out of a shipping container in a fenced-off yard filled with picnic tables, and they’re only open during the summer months. Proceed directly to the fish tacos—each order arrives with two, topped with cabbage slaw, chunky guacamole, and a spicy cilantro lime salsa. We dream about these exceptional tacos more than we dream about retiring to look for buried treasure on the beach. Expect crowds on summer weekends." - willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, neha talreja
"Baja-inspired restaurant with an enclosed courtyard."
"Tacoway Beach is renowned for its lightly battered whitefish tacos with pickled veggies and guac. The taco shack, which started in 2008, has become an iconic spot in Rockaway. It now operates in a larger space adjacent to Rockaway Beach Surf Club, offering communal tables, live music, and a vibrant food scene." - Travel + Leisure Editors
