Takashi - Review - Downtown - Salt Lake City - The Infatuation

"Takashi makes the best Japanese food in SLC. They excel in creative sushi rolls, with multiple Beatles-themed options like the escolar and chili pepper-filled Strawberry Fields, or the yellowtail and yuzu-infused tobiko Yellow Submarine. There are no reservations for small groups, and you’ll rarely (read: never) find a night where a crowd isn’t waiting when the doors open at 5:30pm. Enjoy your first round of Japanese whiskey cocktails and some apps at the restaurant’s lauded Post Office Place bar while you wait for a table." - Jenny Willden

Best sushi in Utah—no question. Azekura beef was some of the best tasting, best textured steak I’ve had. Definitely recommend as an appetizer. Crunchy Ebi, Sunshine, and Caribbean were the perfect ensemble: the tempura-topped shrimp roll with masago and eel sauce, the refreshing salmon/lemon combo, the yellowtail and chili peppers to bring a little heat. Hell yeah. Service was a bit slow when we came, but based on the tables around us I think it was just an off day and only for our table. Our water glasses never got below a third empty. Whether you’re visiting or if you’re a local, it’s a must-go.

If you’re serious about sushi in SLC, Takashi is the spot—but get there before they open if you want to make the first seating. It fills up fast for a reason. We started with the pear salad, which had great flavor and texture. The pickled pear had a subtle, addictive tang I couldn’t quite place, and the mix of greens, seeds, and creamy cheese hit all the right notes. Calamari came out as a massive portion. The dipping sauce carried the dish—calamari was decent, not super flavorful on its own but fried well and not greasy. Fried oysters were visually stunning, served in-shell. Crunchy and clean, though I’ve had better. Still solid. Edamame dumplings were the best appetizer by far. Super rich broth, great texture, and savory flavor in every bite—don’t skip these. The steak with vegetable tempura was beautifully cooked and plated. Steak was juicy and flavorful, and the tempura (especially the portobello) was crisp and not overly oily. Now the sushi—fresh across the board. Favorites: • Squid, bonito, mirugai, masaba were the standouts. • Uni was sweet and creamy. • Also enjoyed: chutoro, iwashi, razor clam, amaebi—all fresh and handled well. Our server was fantastic—welcoming, attentive, and made sure we were taken care of throughout the meal. The sake recommendation she gave us paired really well with the nigiri. Only suggestion: it would be great if the larger bottles of sake came with a chilled bucket to keep it cool through the meal. Top-tier experience overall. Can’t wait to go back.

Got in line at 520pm and it was already pretty long. By the time the doors opened at 530pm the line was all the way down the block. We were sat very quickly and the serving staff was amazing. Some of the best sushi we have ever had. Great appetizers and cocktails.

This restaurant is worth the wait. We waited 30 minutes to get a table for two, but it was 100% worth it. This is upscale and modern dining. You order little plates at a time, which makes it feel more like a culinary experience. The service was great, and our waiter was very kind with lots of recommendations. We ordered the following: Edamame Dumplings, Toro Tartare, Uptown Roll, Mr Blue Sky and T&T and the Mars Iwai 45 Whiskey. The edamame dumplings were probably one the best things we’ve ever eaten in our lifetime. It wasn’t on the menu, but written as a special on the wall. This place is worth the money. They put an incredible amount of time and energy into making each roll and making this restaurant a culinary experience.

Today my wife and I went around 5 PM. There was a line, but it was totally worth it. Everything was delicious — fresh, authentic flavors with great attention to detail. The atmosphere was very pleasant, and the staff was incredibly kind from start to finish. Highly recommended, 100 out of 100. We’ll definitely be coming back.

Let me start with Aaron, Tony, and Zach, made this a wonderful dining experience. Personable and attentive, with knowledge and a passion for their work. All our food was delicious. Asian cesear, tempura vegetables sushi of all types and even the mango mousse to finish it off. I recommend sitting at the bar as it provides a very different experience. Limited seating for such a popular place leads to lines and waits so arrive early, stand in the line and give this place a shot.

Google
I will start by saying I love sushi! Takasi was highly recommended. Its reputation is well deserved. This restaurant is awesome!! They have an interesting list of craft cocktails. I had their riff on a martini using the local gin and genepy de alpes. Lovely. I started with three nigiri: scallops, amaebi, and a grilled sable fish I decided to try. All perfect. For the rest, I let the sushi maker choose. Everything was amazing! My colleague got the soy braised pork belly. It was very meaty and so tender and delicious. He also got a huge platter of various rather unusual fish. We each got a sake. Mine was a junmai style- nice and dry but with a subtle strawberry note. The waitress knew her sakes! I couldn't resist the panna cotta made with candy cap mushrooms that I was told taste like maple. It was truly a perfect panna cotta. The servers and sushi makers were incredible - attentive, helpful, and fun. If you like sushi as well as other Japanese food - their menu is extensive - I could not recommend a place more highly! As I said, it's reputation is well-deserved. Plus it is an easy walk from the convention center!

Wait? Too long. Worth the wait? Yup Fish was top notch and something i would see in a costal city. The food is simple but executed well. Definitely check out their specials!

Yelp
Takashi is hands down the best sushi spot in SLC! The sushi was incredibly fresh, and every bite was amazing. The ceviche roll was easily the best roll I've ever had--packed with flavor and absolutely perfect. We sat at the sushi bar, which I highly recommend. Watching the chefs work their magic made the experience even better. The staff was friendly and attentive. The wait for a table was totally worth it,

Yelp
Takashi is voted Utah's best sushi restaurant so of course we had to come here!! I did go a little crazy with the rolls but have absolutely no regrets because everything was EXQUISITE. The little mermaid was made with tuna, scallops, spicy sauce, shiso, and wasabi tobiko. I don't know much about what shiso or wasabi tobiko is but I'm not questioning it because this roll was great. I love tuna rolls. The spicy maguro has to be the cutest roll I've ever eaten :,) it was fresh tuna and spicy sauce no this is a traditional maki sushi. I think it may have been my favorite out of all the rolls I tried because of the spicy sauce. The perfect amount was dolloped on top of the little roll love it The spider roll was a big boy. It's crispy soft-shelled crab with kaiware sprouts, eel sauce, spicy sauce, and sesame seeds. This roll was so good. Honestly, just put eel sauce on anything and I'm game. The california maki was just imitation crab with avocado and sesame seeds. Solid classic roll. I love getting california's.

Yelp
Takashi is good but honestly overhyped. There was absolutely nothing wrong with what we ordered and we did enjoy the food, but the price tag was testament to the fact the place is overhyped. It is usually hard to get a table without a wait, and the price of their food is noticeably higher than other sushi spots in Utah. The fish in the sushi tastes fresh, but I still think it's priced too high for what it is. It's great for Utah sushi, but still not quite at the caliber of sushi spots in some other western states. The service we had was fine, and the inside of the restaurant is nice, but again, you always need to plan for a wait time to get a table as they don't do reservations for dinner. For how much hassle that may be, we just don't gravitate toward coming here.

Yelp
This was on my must try list and so so glad that my work group decided to come here for dinner. All the rolls were super fresh with lots of different flavors. The consensus at my table was that the Magic Dragon was the best! It was perfect size and had great contrasting flavors with the eel, avocado and spiced crab. I also loved the Takashi Hakozushi as it was pretty and had four different fishes. A few of these had these little spicy peppers that I took out because it was very spicy. Overall, a great sushi spot, although a little on the pricey end. Parking was fairly easy as there were surface lots. Our server was super friendly, however it was challenging to get a big group like us seated initially. We weren't able to get reservations but got tables as a separate group.

Yelp
BEST SUSHI IN TOWN! We went and the wait time was 1 hour long. Luckily there were seats available at the Post ( restaurant next door) and we were able to wait comfortably. The waitress was friendly but quite busy so we had to wait to place the order. We started with torched Sable fish and OMG! It was smoky, buttery and just melted in the mouth. We order some Tuna ceviche which was mouthwatering as well. Next we order couple of rolls - strawberry field so so refreshing! - forest Gump: sweet and spicy -sunshine: again unique and refreshing - Buddha: pretty amazing for being vegetarian! We finished out meal with they gyoza which were ojay at best. Overall, this by far is the best sushi I have had in SLC and I would hight recommend this place to any sushi lovers . Just plan in advance and reserve because the wait-line is pretty long.

Yelp
Wonderful experience! Visiting from California on a work trip and came in at 8:30. Place was packed but since I was a party of one, they were able to seat me quickly at the counter. Both the sushi chef and server offered to help answer any questions. I ended up going with the premium nigiri and little mermaid roll. Both were quite delicious. The chef Zach, creates some delicious nigiri combinations. It was packed for 8:30 on a Wednesday but the restaurant had a nice energy to it and enjoyed my overall experience!

Yelp
Very worth the wait. This was my second time here and it was just as amazing 2 years later. Everything tasted high quality and fresh, and was complimented with the perfect sauces. Very hard to choose but if I had to, I'd say the pork belly and yellow submarine were my favorites. Good service, and a lovely ambiance..I see why this is considered to be the best sushi in SLC!

Yelp
And so we visited SLC again and Takashi was on the must have list. We went on a Thursday night around 7:30 and we had to wait more than 40 minutes to get seated, which was worth it. It was very crowded on a Thursday night. We ordered miso soup which traditionally comes without spoons, but you can ask for a spoon if you'd like (that's what I did). We ordered the special roll of that night which had salmon and peach, the spider roll, the black magic woman roll, the box roll, and imagine roll. All were good in their own unique way. We thoroughly enjoyed the rolls again which were very fresh and yummy. They are slightly more expensive than other good sushi places, but very much worth it. One thing I didn't care about were the chopsticks. I really liked how they look and feel, but once I used them to eat, they were slicing through the rolls because they are very thin and plasticky sharp.

Yelp
Great experience here! Service is great and food is top quality! They are popular and get very busy so you may have to wait without a reservation. The seafood is extremely fresh which helps with the quality. The place is very hip and happening and the set up is very nice. I'm in Utah once a year and this is always a must go stop for me each time. They always exceed expectations!!

Yelp
I am shocked at how high this place is rated. My friend and I came here for our birthday dinner. We are both born in the same month so we wanted to celebrate together. We were told that you needed to arrive early so that you can get in. We arrived at 5 PM and waited a half hour in line outside baking in the heat And the line continued to get longer and longer and we were shocked thinking this must be the most amazing place we've ever been. After waiting over half hour, we were let in and seated at a table. We were brought warm water. That is one of my biggest pet peeves. It was so hot outside. Why would you ever give warm water? When I requested a soda, they told me they didn't carry the one that I wanted and they only had Coke Diet Coke and marble soda when I requested a Coke I was shocked that it was a can. They charged me four dollars for a 12 ounce can of soda that does not sit well with me. I am celiac so I required gluten-free soy sauce. They charge me an extra dollar for that that also really irritates me. The sashimi that I ordered and the Nagri roll was excellent and very fresh. However, the pricing was astronomical and when I pay a premium price, I expect a premium experience this place did not deliver. The Philadelphia roll we ordered gluten-free was exceptionally bland. My friend ordered two rolls that he enjoyed but were no better than other locations that were better experience and priced better. I am willing to pay for amazing quality and service and experience the rates that they charged, but with an experience like this, we will not be going back .

Yelp
I wanted to like this place SO bad based on all the previous reviews! The no reservation system needs to go. It would be one thing if there was a comfortable place to wait for an hour, but the only seating they had was right in front of the door so we kept getting frost blasted each time someone came in. The service honestly was great, the hostess and our server were awesome, no missed points there. We ordered the tofu and miso soup for apps. The miso was pretty good, the tofu was very soggy and had an unfortunate smokey taste to it. I ordered two specialty rolls, both of which were okay. About average as far as high-priced sushi goes, but I still enjoyed them! My husband is vegetarian and ordered two veggie rolls. When I questioned why he wasn't really eating them, he prompted me to try. There were giant chunks of uncooked potato in one of them. The other appeared to have raw asparagus. Not pleasant to eat. The reason we chose this restaurant was because they had dedicated veggie sections on both their appetizer and sushi menu. I would get it if you've got one veggie roll and it's below average, but to advertise a vegetarian section and to have THAT be the result, was pretty disappointing. Again, no hate to the staff or the ambience, both were perfectly servicable. But between the no reservation system and the below average food experience on the whole, we will most likely not be returning.

Yelp
We absolutely loved this place! The food and service were amazing! Such a unique selection and definitely did not disappoint!

Yelp
We love Takashi! Since we moved here several years ago - it's been our #1 spot in town for sushi! Sure, there are other places in town... but, there's only ONE Takashi! Their sushi is always the freshest, always delicious and the service is always on point. Their Panna Cotta is one of our favorite desserts anywhere and as you can see in the photo, we always get at least two of them. Make sure you order your dessert when you first sit down if you want one, the Panna Cotta usually sells out and won't be available by the time you're ready to have it. The Imagine Roll is a favorite, Willy's Chilis... anything here is good. Great cocktails too. My one and only complaint about Takashi is no reservations! Pretty much waiting no matter what. They open at 5pm for dinner, and there will be a line by 4:30. This last time we got there at 4:45 and luckily we were first in line and first to be seated. I wish we could make a reservation - if you come around dinner time, you'll be waiting an hour +. But, it's worth it.

Yelp
SAIKYO-MISO SABLEFISH 5 baked cod, Asian slaw, juicy, tender, flavorful PREMIUM CHEF'S CHOICE NIGIRI COMBINATION 4 six pieces, selection is ordinary, fresh SURF & SNOW 3 sushi roll, Asian pear, avocado, shiso inside; New Zealand salmon, hirame, sliced lime, thai chilis, ponzu on top, weird flavor, too sour, refreshing PORK RIB SOBA 3 thick wheat noodles, pork broth, ginger, green onion, bbq pork ribs, slightly dry, not flavorful, super salty gingery soup
google avatar

Elyse R.

Yelp
YUMMM! This was my first time to this restaurant and I would 100% go back next time i'm in slc. Definitely the best sushi in salt lake and would highly recommend! Expect at least an hour wait though that was the only downside.
google avatar

Travis C.

Yelp
Great sushi! Love their setting and the super good service. The variety of sushi one can order from here is unexpected for land locked Utah. What I really enjoyed was being able to order "off-menu" and the sushi chef was creative and accommodating. They also have a nice bar menu and drinks if you are interested.
google avatar

Liz F.

Yelp
Scotty was a great bartender had great recommendations. Only thing that was a little upsetting is the $3 up charge for a roll of 8 pieces.
google avatar

Madeline J.

Yelp
Wow!!! Everything we ordered was so amazing. We are from California, so we have high expectations from sushi and this blew our minds Our favorite dish was the salmon tatake. Seared peppered salmon. Literally melted in our mouths! The Miguel roll was also amazing S/O to our sushi chef Bryce. I recommend getting a seat at the sushi bar so you can order straight from the sushi chefs and get top tier service, while watching your food be made. Will not forget this place! Also had black cod nigiri. Amazing.
google avatar

Rebecca N.

Yelp
Best sushi in Utah. The environment feels like a party with full but appropriately spaced tables. You can watch your sushi being made and servers are quick and friendly. Plan on waiting for table, even on a random week night. It's definitely worth the wait. We ordered a few rolls, (surf & snow my personal fav), edamame and prawns and veggie tempura (smaller servings than I would have hoped but delicious).
google avatar

Ryan F.

Yelp
Tried some new things tonight. The Aburi Gindara (torched sablefish) was our favorite and something we'll order every time. Next time we'll need an order per person. 2nd favorite was the toro truffle gunkan maki. Favorite rolls this time were crunchy ebi, tiger, and yellow submarine. Yellow submarine is really good with the tai chili sauce it's served with. The spider roll was pretty good, not something I'd get every time. Also tried the imagine roll. It was really good and fresh but slightly larger so this one filled us up. It's a good roll if you're a big tuna lover, not my favorite.

Norm B.

Yelp
This is awesome ! Super creative rolls Fresh sashimi For sure, go now, a must go to !
google avatar

Linda V.

Yelp
Was told this restaurant was amazing so thinking my expectations were too high. We have excellent sushi in my hometown, so maybe this was not a fair comparable. But quite honestly, my food was close to inedible. The wagyu beef rolls were so burnt all I could taste was charcoal and the dipping sauce had zero flavor. The black magic woman roll tasted like last weeks fish and another roll I got was also lacking in any kind of flavor or freshness. Plus side was the ceviche and the miso soup which is reflected in the 3 stars vs 2. Will not eat her again and would not recommend.
google avatar

Kimberly B.

Yelp
This place is incredible. I am half Japanese and a bit of a sushi snob. I dislike giant rolls you can't eat in one bite and dislike a bunch of tempura stuffed inside etc. I asked for suggestions about what to order since the sushi chef (in our case, Pepe) knows best what is the freshest. I had four slices of sashimi that was melt in your mouth delish and a roll that I trusted him to make at his own discretion. I believe I had tuna, salmon, black and red snapper. We also tried the bbq onigiri, asparagus, edamame, veggie tempura, and some really good sake. Pics attached. It was my birthday and we got to chose a free desert. We had the Pana Cotta that was delicious. Service was spot on and this place was pretty busy on a Wednesday at 8:30. We will definitely be back.
google avatar

Tiff S.

Yelp
My husband and I came here 9 years ago on our first date and came back recently to celebrate. This is still one of my favorite sushi restaurants. I don't know if there is a "good" time to go when it's slower because we went at 5 on a Thursday evening and they already had a line building up outside. They open at 5:30. If you don't mind waiting and you're going for dinner then you can pop into the bar-restaurant next door for a drink. That's what we did. We sat at the bar when we got in as there were no tables. We ordered Tsunumi sake and calamari. Calamari was yummy and so was the sauce. We ordered two rolls, one was the Forrest Gump. The other was the "The Box". Both equally delicious with quality fish. Service was good. Our server/bar tender was attentive and pleasant. Food came out quick for how busy it was. Only reason I have 4 stars is because I think it'd be worth it for them to invest in a reservation system. Many people in line just left and went elsewhere.
google avatar

Katie L.

Yelp
Loved this sushi place! I sat at the sushi bar and interacted with the chefs. I had the pleasure of sitting next to someone who had been there several times and trusted the chefs to build them a creative meal. The sushi chef made a large plate of interesting offerings for this patron- an entire fish, fried. Mini whole octopus, REAL wasabi. This place truly has everything if you want an adventurous sushi experience. I got pretty standard fare because I am not that adventurous but it was fun watching someone else haha!
google avatar

Natasha P.

Yelp
Takashi is undeniably the best spot for satisfying sushi cravings; it's our go-to place. Celebrated my birthday there again after a while. The digital menu's layout is a bit odd--having to navigate through different sections is a hassle. Asked for a paper menu due to low phone battery, but none was available. Ambiance is fantastic, but the perpetual wait, even on weekdays, is a downside. Opted for the hot sake with plum--delicious; perfect for a sake enthusiast like me. Highlight dishes included the Spicy Mussels with Quail Egg, Spicy Tako, Hamachi-Scallop--all exceptionally tasty. Simple yet delightful sushi choices: Little Mermaid Roll, Ceviche Roll, Mr. Blu Sky--couldn't get enough of them.
google avatar

Andrew O.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Some of the best salmon sashimi I've ever had. Drinks were pretty good as well. It was a bit of a long wait (understandably), but only because we didn't make reservations. 100% would recommend and hope to eat there again if I'm ever back in the area.
google avatar

Pamela M.

Yelp
Neck, the waiter, was just awesome ! There were eight of us at the table plus all the other tables he had, but it just felt like we were the only table we had! Excellent waiter! I am not a fan of sushi, but had the shrimp tempura and the Gyozas and they were delicious! The others in the group had their steaks and the person we were with ordered a bunch of appetizers and they were all really good! It's a very small room and so we were kind of really close to other people, but it's a beautiful place, and very, very popular , so it went well!!!

Yelp
Great service, great food. Staff is kind and catering. Great conversation. Music can use some curating. Good wild, try pickled Wasabi.

Yelp
I can't believe it has taken me so long to write a review on Takashi. Easily the best sushi restaurant in SLC. You can tell that by the lines that form during the evening. That being said, I have only dined here during lunch. This is a family favorite spot. If everyone has a day off we try to make an effort to have lunch at Takashi. Takashi has something for everyone. The freshness and quality of their food is always a hit! Gyoza - flavorful, but a little too soggy. The filling was also pretty mediocre. Vegetable tempura- lightly crispy & not overly oily. I highly recommend this! Fuyu lunch special- the teriyaki steak is amazing and the smoky flavor adds to the dish. The steak is pretty mid & on the drier side. Crispy chicken with teriyaki sauce (small plates)- a must order! A perfect appetizers crispy, good ratio of pretty, and overall delicious! One of our favorite things on the menu & a family favorite appetizer along with the tempura. Zen roll - favorite of the vegetable. The tomato with the hint of tartness really sets this apart from the other vegetable rolls Buddah rolls- good, classic, exactly what you'd expect from a vegetarian roll Surf & Snow- a perfectly balanced roll. The pear really brings the roll together. This is a family favorite as well. Caribbean roll - sweet, spicy, and perfection. This is my favorite sushi roll HANDS DOWN! This is also unanimously our favorite family sushi roll. This is the MUST TRY sushi roll at Takashi in my opinion.

Vanessa W.

Yelp
Good quality sushi. Nice decor and background music. Good service, sushi takes a while to come out but I think that's pretty normal. Went on a Wednesday evening and the wait was 30 minutes.
google avatar

Megan K.

Yelp
This place is hyped up and hard to get into, but I get it now. Their nigiri is top notch, and their specialty rolls are solid. The surf and snow roll was a particular favorite of ours, and balanced out the heat of the Ramon roll. Despite the quality, the cost was not exorbitant. Don't get me wrong, it's still sushi, so you'll likely spend at least $50 a person, but this place makes that amount seem more than fair. The wait staff worked like a team and our water glasses were filled by at least 3 different people while we were there. Everyone was friendly, and passed the vibe check. I would happily go back and would absolutely get that surf and snow roll again.
google avatar

Yelp
Great service. Sushi chef was very helpful with recommendations. Highly recommend the ceviche roll.

Yelp
A friend and I stopped by Takashi for lunch and were able to snag a table quickly. I was excited to try it out since I've heard nothing but good things. Our server greeted us with waters and we scanned the QR code on the table to view the menu. There are sooo many things that sounded good on the menu. I went with some basic signature rolls this visit, but I would definitely venture into more interesting territory when I return. I tried the sunshine roll (salmon, lemon, cucumber, avocado) and the magic dragon roll (eel, avocado, crab) and both were very good. My friend ordered veggie tempura and some additional rolls. She liked what she ordered as well. Service was friendly and the place was pretty packed. You can tell it's loved by many. I'd recommend checking it out if you like sushi.
google avatar

Avery D.

Yelp
Got three rolls at Takashi and it was about $47 before tip. The Tiger's Roll was my favorite, very delicious and a little sweet. The little mermaid was good but nothing super special. Good tuna. The surf and snow was the most interesting but kind of weird. It had a slice of lime and chilis on top which were very overpowering and kind of crazy flavors. It was like an explosion of flavor in your mouth but I'm not sure I'd get it again. Nice server, quick service! Good vibes inside and nicely decorated.
google avatar

Jack T.

Yelp
Takashi has a wide selection of fresh nigiris and really delicious menu options outside of raw fish as well! I'm from Hawaii and I really miss getting fresh sashimi, and this is the closest to home maguro I can get. This place is PACKED at dinner, and there's usually a 1-2 hour wait. I suggest coming at lunch on weekdays if you're looking for a quick fish fix!
google avatar

Sheila O.

Yelp
Goodood was excellent. Had some of the best miso soup. Sashimi was very fresh with a lot of variety, would have loved some fatty tuna to be included. Ribs were great as well. Service was just ok, servers were friendly, but inattentive. Overall a good place to go, but get there 30 minutes before they open if you want a table.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent sushi restaurant in Salt Lake City. The best that I have had in the city. The nigiri is amazing, have to get the seared sable fish, toro and the flank steak.
google avatar

Yelp
Really enjoyed dinner at this place. It lives up to the hype. The server was spot on and made some excellent recommendations ( he looked like beck). I had a rainbow roll, spicy oysters with quail egg , and mackerel sashimi combo with two types of Japanese and Spanish. Really everything was very good and lived up to the rating. Cool restaurant , nice ambiance.

Yelp
Doing a cross-country trip & went out of our way to eat here. It did not disappoint!! Our server was attentive, helpful on helping on recommendations & very nice! We ordered quite an assortment of items, along with sake. Very nice restaurant & everything was excellent!!!

Yelp
Delicious! We got there a couple minutes before they opened so we were able to get seated. The servers were attentive and knowledgeable. We tried a variety of sushi items, and I was impressed how fresh the fish was. Everything was smooth and didn't have that overwhelmingly fishy flavor. There are a variety of options to try from seared fishes to uni. Lastly, we got the chocolate cake with black sesame ice cream. The cake was rich and ice cream was nutty and savory-- they paired well together. Living in Utah, it's really hard to find good sushi. This place is probably the best sushi I've had in this state.

Yelp
Absolutely a must for sushi lovers when in town! Traditional sushi along with some unique spins! Tony who made the rolls was so friendly and absolutely great in recommending rolls if like! Absolutely will be back! Prices are good for the high quality of food! Atmosphere is great and it was packed in a Wednesday night...that says it all! Also the Black Magic Women roll with pesto lemon on it is simply a must get!

Yelp
Best sushi I've had! Very fresh & beautifully prepared! The vibe and music was also great while not too overbearing. We arrived right as they opened so we're seated right away. They did fill up quick for lunch and it was full when we left. Our lunch party loved their rolls as it was all our first visit. Our server Gracie was very efficient and friendly. We will be back!

Yelp
Came here during a visit from out of state & was so happy with the food and ambiance Food: - super impressed with the taste & high quality of the sushi, some highlights were: the torched sablefish, salmon sashimi, crunchy ebi roll to name a few! Their strawberry fields roll was also really good but on the spicier side if your tolerance is low Dessert: - we tried their panna cotta & mango mousse - both were amazing & were the perfect portion size post dinner Service: - Quick & professional service Parking: - We came on a Monday shortly before opening and there was plenty of paid street parking in front of the restaurant along with a couple smaller lots nearby.

Yelp
A great sushi spot in Salt Lake City! They don't take reservations, so we had to go in and put out names on a list. We were told it was going too be a 30 min wait bit they had a table ready for us in 10! We went here for a celebratory dinner and ordered multiple specialty rolls all of which were delicious. We also ordered the seared beef which was supposed to be medium but was more well done, but had good flavor. My favorite was the shrimp jalapeno lime roll, an unusual and excellent flavor combination. The service was attentive & consistent and the setting has a cozy, friendly vibe. I'd recommend this spot of you're looking for good sushi in SLC!

Yelp
Best sushi I've ever had! So fresh and unique. We got the gyoza and steak appetizer. The steak was our favorite, and came with tempura mushrooms and green beans. Neither of us could pick a favorite roll. We got the tiger roll, surf and snow, crunchy ebi, and Buddha. They were all so fantastic. The sushi chefs were super friendly as well. The establishment was really busy, but service was still good. Will definitely be returning!

Yelp
After countless recommendations, I finally enjoyed Takashi last night. The sushi was wonderful. The tuna melted in your mouth, the rolls were creative, and the drinks were abnormally good for a sushi restaurant. Located in the heart of downtown, it has a buzzy atmosphere and a fun scene. Among the better sushi restaurants in SLC.

Yelp
Excellent food & service! We went on a Tuesday evening, hopping place to be. Wait was about an hour but totally worth it (we waited next door at Post Office Place - Amazing craft cocktails). So many delicious items to choose from - our favorites were the Blue Fin Kizame, Kampachi Balsamic, Tiger Roll, A5 Wagyu Beef, Torched Sablefish. Everything was excellent, will definitely return! Busy, and loud but our server, Jenny was on it!
