Tane Vegan Izakaya - Highland Park

I highly recommend Tane Vegan! From the mocktails, appetizers to the sushi and dessert every single item was absolutely delicious! We decided to celebrate Christmas Eve here and it did not disappoint. The moment we entered we were greeted with a welcoming and inviting atmosphere filled with kindness. Our server Junny was spectacular! Her patience, suggestions and overall service truly made the experience the more enjoyable. Thank you Tane team for an unforgettable time! We will definitely be back :)

Tane Vegan Izakaya is absolutely fantastic. The food is creative, flavorful, and beautifully presented — you can really tell a lot of care goes into every dish. Even non-vegans would love this place. So excited to try Tane in Highland Park as I've been to the one on O'ahu a few times and loved it! They do get very busy and I would recommentld a reservation. The person on the phone wasn't the most personable, but the reservation was made and thats what matters. The food was as amazing as I remembered it in Honolulu! The rolls were not only delicious, but beautiful and filling! The cesar salad also amazing.

Went to Tane and was absolutely blown away. A perfect date night with fantastic vegan pairings of your favorite sushi meals. The tomato Nigiri was such a surprise. The gyoza were refreshing with diced up veggies and ginger The stuffed mushrooms were insanely good. The rolls were so full of flavor and presented impeccably well. Chef Michael came out to ask us about our meal and he was so knowledgeable about the dishes and went over the way to make everything in house. Will be going back time and again.

This is easily some of the best vegan sushi I’ve had in LA. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere and offers an impressive variety of rolls. I highly recommend the Backer and the Ewa — both were absolutely delicious.

We love Tane! We first tried them in the Bay Area and were so excited to see them open up a spot right in our neighborhood. Vegan sushi is my favorite cuisine, and they do not disappoint. Fantastic rolls, fresh salads and creative and delicious starters and drinks make this an all around great experience. Our waiter Junny was great, friendly, very attentive and quick to take our order and get our food out to us. The kitchen sent out an extra Nigiri for us to try. We have been here a few times now and they have not disappointed!

Loved this place! Excellent food and it happens to be vegan. Plenty of gluten free options also. Each dish was delicious and uniquely flavorful, and layered with complexity. We had 7 different dishes and all were very tasty. No missed. The service and ambiance were also just right - welcoming, casual, friendly and stylish. We'll be back soon.

first discovered tane vegan in hawaii so when they opened in highland park i was excited. the wedge roll is the best hands down. so flavorful, the potatoes are killer, the green sauce they put on, yum chefs kiss. vibes are cute here, really intimate and service is always great. We have had izzy as a server a few times and she amazing always so helpful and welcoming.

we had a great first experience dining at tane! our server was so knowledgeable about the menu and gave us great recommendations! our favorites were the point reyes roll, a delicious spicy one, and the avocado nigiri was so fresh and the smoked beet really came through in the aioli. the wedge was great, but we weren't expecting the whole roll to be fried, so a little heavier than we wanted. the karaage was really nice, had a great bite, and perfect paired with the garlic and spicy aioli. i would recommend making a reservation for a larger party, but we will definitely be back!

My husband and I are so very thrilled that Tane opened a location in LA because their Honolulu location was fantastic. The location is situated within an area that is still heavily residential, which is a good thing because it's not as busy and there are street parking nearby. The restaurant itself is small, but if you go to dinner when they open at 4:30, it will feel spacious. Another plus side for having an early dinner is that they have a Happy Hour menu that goes from 4:30 to 5:30 PM, which we gladly took advantage of. Service was attentive enough although our water glasses were only filled once and we weren't asked if we wanted another mocktail - oh yea, they are still awaiting their beer and wine license to be approved, so no alcohol being served currently. Glad to report that most of their food were just as delicious as their Hawaii locale. See below for our ratings. -Miso Soup: 5/5; was hot and tasty and a treat for my husband who never gets to eat miso soup since it is usually not vegan-friendly. -Ewa Roll: 5/5; love the tempura enoki within and just a very tasty roll overall. -Da Bao: 4/5; I'm glad this vegan spam does not have a weird aftertaste and it was served crispy with a side of sauce. -Yakimono Trio: 3/5; it was fine but didn't blow our minds. Also, hard to share since they only gave us one corn cob and one small bunch of enoki. -Nigiri Sampler (10 pcs): 4/5; chef's selection and tasty, but hard to share since there was only one of each. The ones I chose were good. -Loaded Potatoes: 3/5; potatoes were not crispy (more like roasted) and they put way too much of that crema on it. We did like that it had mixed mushrooms in it, which added a distinct taste. -Pistachio Ice Cream: 1/5; it should be a crime that this was even labeled as ice cream. It was a paste that was molded into an ice cream scoop and the texture reminded me of play-doh. I know it wasn't ice cream because it didn't even melt, was just chilled, and had an interesting taste that was not good.

Came here to treat My Self for My birthday and I am so glad I did This is the best meal I've since I came back to the states in April. Everything was absolutely delicious with gorgeous presentation. The service was great; both of the ladies waiting the tables were super helpful, kind, and fun. I had great conversations with both of them The restaurant is cozy, calm, dim and classy. Date night here is a must!! The ambiance is perfect from the lighting to the music, and seating. Very calm energy, and vibes. From someone who gets overwhelmed with lighting and loudness this restaurant gets an A+ with having the perfect balance. The food is absolutely delicious. My favorite rolls are the sunset, and the Monterrey!!! Very filling, and packed with flavor. Last but not least Junny our server, most restaurants don't have service like this anymore!! When my partner and I arrived she remembered us and greeted us so kindly. She is charismatic, has a great smile, is attentive, and gives amazing service. We hope to get her every time we come in! Wow. So, we heard there was a new vegan game in town. And boy do they bring it. We made a reservation for a Saturday night, and were able to snag a same day reservation. A reservation is probably a good idea, since when we got there, it was pretty crowded. I think they were able to accommodate some walk-ins, but... So, this is a vegan izakaya place, with rolls and yakitori. We got the bao with da kine spam in it (the sauce was awesome sauce), two of the rolls - one with beets and the other with oyster mushrooms and some heat. Had two of the refreshers (the lilikoi refresher was a lot sweeter than we expected, although I loved it, and the yuzu matcha was spritzy and lovely). And took home the cheesecake. The interior is very cute, although when you are there during a certain time of day (late afternoon to sunset, the sun come into the restaurant at an angle that if you're sitting at some specific seats, you'll get a full blast of unsolicited facially targeted vitamin D. They miiiiiight want to consider some blinds or window coverings or something. Our server was Julia, and she's great - helped us with some of our questions with the food and was friendly overall. Definitely will be coming back here.

This is such an amazing restaurant. They have great option for allergies, and are super accommodating! Izzy has served me twice and has always been super kind and thorough. I'd come here every day if I could :)

I've been to Japan, and this vegan sushi place in LA nails the rice quality like the best there. The location in is great and easy to get to after a day of sightseeing. Isabella waited on us with a radiant, contagious smile that made us feel welcome. The vegan menu is fresh and tasty, with rice that has a great texture. I love coming here and always leave happy and ready to return.

Delicious vegan Japanese izakaya with great service and aesthetic! I'm not vegan but I enjoyed all of the recommended dishes! My favorite were the pepper nigiri, eggplant nigiri, and Waimanalo roll! Platings were beautiful and the flavors were haha amazing! I made a reservation online and parked for free on the street.

My sister and another friend told me about this place once it opened up in LA as they had both experienced this in Honolulu and when it had a location in Las Vegas. It did not disappoint. My friend and I were able to share different items and the one that stood out the most was the Shizen Shiitake. We both love mushrooms and there is really something about this dish!! I'm not sure if it's the texture and combination of the tempura crunch with the mushroom with some sweetness, but we were both really impressed! We also really enjoyed the Negima - great flavor and the scallion pairs really well with it. We got the Katsu Cesar Salad, Sunset Roll, Halfmoon Roll, Eggplant nigiri, Enoki nigiri, and the Negima. The Enoki tasted like it was smoked so it gave a really good flavor. Most of the dishes we ordered had unique ingredients (yuzu, matcha salt, seaweed pearls). We will be back to try other dishes! We're pretty sure we impressed the staff and how much we ate LOL. The service was great - because we went on a Wednesday evening, it wasn't busy and it felt like an intimate ambiance. Parking was pretty easy - residential and free.

My bestie is Vegan, I am not. We came here on a whim, and I had no idea what to expect from vegan sushi. All I can say is YUMMY!!!! Every dish was so pretty. We ordered so many things because every dish sounded so interesting. We kind of over did it and we both brought food home. My husband tried my leftovers and loved it. The waitstaff are friendly and very knowledgeable about each dish. The space itself is a modern airy feel with warmth from wood tones, lots of natural light. I can't wait to come back and eat here again. I've already figured out what I want to order based on what other people around us got. Ps 1. The have NA beer on the menu 2. The Ube cookie ice cream was delicious

This was my first time coming here and it was lovely! The interior is so cute and cozy! Even though everything was vegan, it tasted exactly like sushi! It's amazing! And our waitress Izzy is so sweet! Service 10/10

I've been twice now! Very cool to have another unique vegan option in the area. I went in not really knowing what to expect out of vegan sushi but my expectations were exceeded. It is way more exciting than I was envisioning. The way they use veggies is really out of this world. Every dish is filled with so many incredible flavors that work together in harmony. The menu can seem a little overwhelming and I never know what to expect out of a roll but either ask staff to suggest something or just pick off a vibe-every roll I've tried so far has been great so you can't go wrong. Honestly, not really knowing what you're getting makes it kind of exciting! I like to do one roll with tempura and one without for contrast. So one is more decadent and the other more fresh. Both visits were incredible overall and my second time there last night Junny remembered me and was very sweet (she said my friends and I looked like the Bratz Dollz the first time I went and that made our whole day). I had another tall male waiter with nail polish the first time and they were both so lovely with solid recommendations. I love places with nice people and delicious food. I'll be here regularly. Oh and I'm not even vegan so for the non-vegans I really believe you'll enjoy this too. I also appreciate that it's not overly tofu heavy and more so veggie based. It's 7am but after writing this I'd eat it again right now.

A unique experience and great addition to Highland Park! Do not let the label "vegan" turn you away; you'll MISS OUT! Tane serves a creative, refreshing and artful Japanese menu. They use an assortment of vegetables and techniques that creates a layer of texture and flavor. The service is welcoming and attentive. The servers are helpful if you need help deciding and encourages their customers to try something new. The interior is clean and intimate. It is located next to Modu. While there isn't a private parking lot, there's free street parking available in the residential streets around the restaurant. I highly recommend trying their okra and eggplant nirigi. Overall everything is incredible tasting and will leave you sated in the end.

used to live in HP and came back to visit friends - was just scanning my maps to see what had newly opened and was amazed to find this place! all vegan. gluten items very clearly marked - only about 10% of the menu has gluten, the rest if gf! we made a reservation and i would recommend it - seems like it could go either way in needing it but seems better to have one. the service was quick. the food delicious and beautiful. the presentation stunning. we only got one roll (ewa! sooo good!!) and lots of other dishes but i wish i could go every day and try a new roll! what an absolute delight to have such an all vegan japanese food experience. get your friends and come on down! could be tough if your group is more than six but i bet they'd make it work. oh, and no booze! so grab drinks after elsewhere in the neighborhood ;) unfortunately no outdoor dining.

Chef Cat, Chef Jimmy and Tommy are the greatest! We love this place and very kid-friendly. Great addition to the neighborhood!

First off, I accidentally made the reservation for the wrong day, but they were so kind of accommodate us. We shared a few appetizers (Brussel sprouts and potatoes). Both were really yummy. The flavors here are so complex and delicious. Really, I want to go back again tomorrow. My favorite roll was the Kailua, it was so fresh tasting and the wasabi glaze on top was amazing. This is one of the few sushi restaurants I've seen that uses wasabi as a forefront flavor. What are you waiting for, try this amazing place now!!

The menu is all vegan and the food is tasty especially the katsu must try! We went to dine without making appointment that we were sitting at the sushi bar area. Still having fun.

The quality of the sushis were excellent. Everything was so fresh. Absolutely loved it. We tried their nigiri special. That included all the ten types of nigiri. Also ordered the Wedge and some tea. All of them tasted absolutely delicious. Our server Izzy was great. Not sure if I spelled her name correctly. She explained the menu clearly to us. She was very patient and answered all our questions. The inside was nicely decorated and was cosy. Would definitely go back.

First time at Tane. If you're looking for excellent quality one of a kind sushi... this is it! We ate like queens & kings. We ordered a feast. We started with appetizers : shizen shiitake , gyoza, miso soup.. main course: the wedge roll, the Pacifica, tomato nigiri, the sunset roll. The citrus beet salad was excellent! We will return. Service was excellent and ambience was nice too.

Super delicious food. I know they market the place as "vegan sushi" but really, it's just delicious food that happens to be in the shape of sushi. Prices were mid-high range but reasonable. Good for date night! Our server, Izzy was also incredible. So upbeat and patient when we asked questions about the menu. And they gave really great suggestions!! We felt like we were in good hands with her. Overall great food, great service, great atmosphere. Would go again!

This place is incredible. Vegans and non-vegans will love! Staff is very friendly, attention to detail is on point, and most importantly the food is delicious. The Point Reyes is now my new favorite roll, but everything we tried was amazing. They were also so nice to our toddler, and even prepared him a plate of fresh berries just to help keep him happy. :)

Second time being to the restaurant but as a vegan great way to satisfy that sushi desire by not just settling for an avocado or cucumber roll. Really can tell this is well crafted menu. Very delicious and very creative with each dish. Every time I come in here I get excellent service. This time I got help from Izzy, she's an absolute gem! So sweet and patient. She helped me get some delicious rolls that I was undecided on. Her knowledge of the menu was extensive and a genuine treat to hear her go into the specialty and key bits of any roll or dish I had question about. Shoutout to Izzy and the whole staff. Thank you so much for a great dinner.

Truly amazed by the creativity and attention to detail the chefs have created with this menu. I loved the textures and presentation, and most importantly everything tasted delicious. My favorite nigiri included the eggplant, tomato, and peppers. We love the crispy garbanzo beans in the Caesar salad. I always love well-excited stuffed mushrooms. And the Pacifica and Monterey rolls were so tasty!! Also, don't sleep on the drinks!! We can't wait to try the rest of the menu. You really can't go wrong with anything you order. Definitely adding this restaurant to our date night rotation (p.s. we're not vegan and were truly impressed). Special mention-- the staff were super friendly and attentive and shared their menu favorites. Adding them to the list next time we visit!

Tane Vegan Izakaya is next-level. Honestly some of the best vegan sushi I've ever had. We tried the Spicy Mango Roll. We also ordered the Teriyaki "Chicken" Bao so addictive!! So much that we ordered a second round. The staff was welcoming, the atmosphere was relaxing, and every dish tasted thoughtfully crafted. Whether you're vegan or not, this spot is a must-try. I'll definitely be back!

Truly the answer to all my hopes and dreams. We first tried Tane in Hawaii and were blown away. I thought my friend was lying when they told me they were coming to LA, but here we are! Truly an experience from start to finish, flavorful, unique dishes all from plants that leave you feeling amazing and not weighed down after. The service at this location is so incredible, everyone is so friendly and accommodating, it keeps us coming back again and again. They're getting their liquor license soon which is going to be next level because even their mocktails are to die for.

This place is incredible. Everything is beautifully prepared. They honor and prepare the vegetables with such care. You can tell everything is made with love. It's so flavorful, savory and delicious. Some of our favorites were the Leahi roll combined with the poke salad (so fresh!), the Agedashi tofu (sooo savory!), the Point Reyes (super spicy but in the best way!) and the inari, eggplant and tomato sushi were just incredible. I really can't say enough complimentary things - eating here was a true pleasure. The space is nicely designed and super clean, everyone behind the sushi bar and on the floor were extremely kind and attentive and the overall vibe was super relaxed and upscale without being pretentious at all. I'm a huge fan. My husband and I will be back many times! Vegans and non vegans alike will really, really enjoy this place.

I had a reservation for Saturday that I booked weeks in advance. Just two days before, the restaurant called to let me know they could not accommodate my food allergies, even though I had confirmed weeks earlier that they could. I found this very unprofessional. I asked if they could make an exception given how far in advance I had booked, but they declined. The only response I was given was that they would "educate their staff" in the future, which unfortunately did nothing to resolve my situation. Very disappointing experience.

We tried this place for the first time and loved it. I've been vegetarian for about 30 years and haven't really ever had fish sushi, but my partner eats fish. We both really enjoyed our meal. We had the kale ceasar salad with a katsu patty on top. The dressing was delicious, the katsu was crispy and also moist inside. it was great. We also had tue wedge roll, which had tempura fried nori with something similar to spicy tuna on top of the roll, I loved it. We also had something called eryngii, which was kind of like a little roll with something textured like fish and a creamy spicy sauce, sorry, bad description. Also delicious. I wanted to order much more and will be back. The prices were reasonable, service good, space is nice, on the far end of York past the busy part of HP. Go there! They're new. Don't have an alcohol license yet (as of August 2025), but they're working on it.

Wow! What an incredible meal! This was my first visit and it won't be my last. I had the miso soup and even though it seems like a basic soup, it was not basic at all. It was so tasty and the perfect temperature. Then I had the mushrooms Yakimono. It was a wonderful sampling of different mushrooms cooked to perfection. Lastly, I had the Sunset roll. The spicy tofu was just right and I loved the perfect amount of spicy aioli. It was just a touch and not drowning the roll. Everything was perfection. I can't wait to go back.

A Wonderful place! The staff was attentive and the acoustics was just right. I tried the SHIZEN SHITAKI, KARAAGE in the Appetizers; KAILUA, WAIMANALO and HALF MOON in the speciality rolls; and the KATSU CAESAR SALAD. They were all good but my favorites were KAILUA and the Caesar salad. The plating was so beautiful, hard to not take photos! I'm so thrilled to have a vegan place nearby and I plan to go back and try the rest of the rolls!

Came here immediately upon hearing of it's opening. Made a reservation for early in the evening, there was plenty of street parking. I wasn't sure if it would live up to it's amazing location in Oahu, but glad to say it does. All the rolls I ordered were great (Sunset, Pacifica, Ewa). Also had the edamame. I cannot wait to return.

First Time Vegan Sushi Experience... Blown Away! I visited Tane for the first time and was honestly impressed. It was also my first time trying vegan sushi, and I didn't know what to expect but it completely exceeded my expectations. The flavors were bold, fresh, and beautifully presented. You can tell a lot of care goes into their ingredients and preparation, the attention to detail. Whether you're vegan or just curious, Tane is definitely worth the visit.
