Relaxed eatery serving traditional dim sum & Chinese dishes with modern flair in a bright space.
"Nestled in Midtown, Taste Of Mulan is where we go for a quiet dim sum meal. Cheers over a few glasses of cold sake, and take down tins of pillowy bao buns stuffed with BBQ pork. Or have a savory turnip cake with crispy edges that could bring us out of the worst moods. The dim sum list comes ready for you to check off to your heart’s content, but you can always add more if you’re like us and didn’t expect the delicate har gow to change the course of your life. And with personal bottles of chili oil on every table, we recommend adding as much spice as you can handle—it’s OK if your eyes water a bit." - chelsea thomas, gianni greene
"Taste Of Mulan is where we go for a quiet dim sum meal. Once an order is placed, the staff graciously leaves guests to their own devices, which usually consists of nodding along to Top 40 music or the soft giggles of couples grabbing a bite to eat. Cheers over a few glasses of cold sake, and take down pillowy bao buns stuffed with BBQ pork. Or have a savory turnip cake with crispy edges that could bring someone out of the worst mood. The dim sum list comes ready to be checked off into oblivion, but there’s always the option to add more later on if only experiencing the har gow once feels too short. And with personal bottles of chili oil on every table, we recommend adding as much spice as you can handle—it’s OK if your eyes water a bit." - gianni greene, chelsea thomas
"Located in the heart of Midtown, Taste of Mulan (formerly One Dim Sum) remains one of the very few dim sum restaurants inside the loop. Traditional Chinese dishes including Beijing Duck, sizzling plates, and stir-fries as well as all-day dim sum are offered. Familiar favorites such as the fried pumpkin puffs shaped like mini pumpkins; and bright green, flower-shaped mushroom dumplings are still featured alongside traditional dumplings and rice rolls." - Minh Truong, Mai Pham

"One Dim Sum, a new destination for Cantonese cuisine, has officially debuted in a familiar Midtown space. A representative for the restaurant tells Eater that One Dim Sum just opened its doors at 510 Gray Street last week, taking over the space formerly occupied by the much-acclaimed Maba Pan-Asian Diner, which closed its doors in September 2018. As its name might indicate, diners can expect an extensive menu of traditional dim sum offerings, along with some modern twists and a full list of stir-fries." - Amy McCarthy
