The Most Interesting Hotels in Manhattan

"The Beekman, a Thompson Hotel, is an Old New York original, an 1881-vintage skyscraper from the days when a skyscraper meant nine stories of terraced red brick." - Mark Fedeli

5 Restaurants to Try This Weekend in NYC - Eater NY

"Keith McNally’s Financial District restaurant Augustine recently brought on acclaimed chef Markus Glocker, and he’s already started putting Viennese touches to the menu. The room is still as warm and lovely as ever, but options like a Viennese wedding soup have been added. It’s on the pricier side — entrees range from $24 to $49 at dinner, $15 to $49 at brunch — so go when you’re feeling a little more luxe." - Eater Staff

The Beekman Hotel | Bon Appétit

"GO HERE: for the ‘gram. Wander into the swanky, velvet-lined lobby for a sight, we’ll admit, more stunning that 1 World Trade. GKV Architects and Martin Brudnizki Design Studio transformed the sleepy office building into a golden-hued, 287-room hotel, connected by inner balconies that make the atrium the focal point. Come for the sun-drenched space, but stay for the star-studded hotel restaurants—Tom Colicchio’s veg-forward Temple Court and Keith McNally’s French bistro-like Augustine—and a very good night's sleep. THE VIBE IS: a little nutty, but the masters of New York City hospitality got you. The restaurants can fill up quickly at prime time with tourists and bankers, but just put your name down at either of the restaurants, then hit up the bar in that stunning lobby for liquid destressing supplied by Temple Court. PRACTICAL STUFF: Rates start at $350. —Elyse Inamine" - Condé Nast

Yelp
The Bar Room at the Beekman Hotel is one of the most beautiful spaces I've ever seen. It's a peak into the elegance of 19th century New York. Steps from Wall Street in the Financial District, narrow cobblestone streets pave a more calm and neighborhood feel compared to manic areas like Midtown. @thebeekmanny The Beekman was completed in 1883, the same year as the Brooklyn Bridge. It's 9 stories were actually considered a skyscraper at the time. It has quite the history given the icons that used to hang around the area like Ralph Waldo Emerson, Mark Twain, and Henry David Thoreau. Edgar Allen Poe published his paper The Broadway on the site. You can feel the history when you walk through the doors. They call it the living room of downtown Manhattan and easy to see why. Every nook is curated with vintage art pieces from the turn of the century. The people watching is spectacular and the food and cocktails are equally elevated. We met friends for their weekend jazz brunch which was excellent. The room comes alive with the most elaborate 30 foot Christmas tree you've ever seen. It has a peacock at the top with its feathers cascading all the way to the floor (photo # 1). Before our friends arrived, we enjoyed seats at the bar for a perfect Irish Coffee. On a cold Saturday morning what better way to warm you up than a Jameson Irish Coffee? @jamesonwhiskey The bartenders are highly skilled and friendly. They have a solid cocktail program for those that prefer complex or simple recipes. It's just a wonderfully comfortable space. Since it was early, we stuck to the usual brunch cocktails like Mimosa, Bloody Mary and Irish Coffee. Their cocktail menu looked really good and we will definitely be back to check it out. I highly recommend checking out this gem in the Financial District next time you are looking for a different New York vibe. Treat yourself and go The Beekman. Salute.

Yelp
Overrated and has been this way for years. I took a few colleagues here after work and it was honestly embarrassing. The 2 hostesses were beyond rude. We simply said "hello, do you have room for 4" and she snapped at us "NO... NO, we do not have any room right now!" She must have just dealt with something because our question did not warrant such a reaction. So my colleague asked when they would have room. She says 20-30 minutes. That didn't seem outrageous, so we put down our names on a wait list and grabbed drinks at the bar. I ordered an old fashioned, but somehow got a vodka martini. No offer to remake the wrong drink. For the next 2 hours, we kept checking with the hostesses when the table would be ready. Each time, they said "almost ready." For 2+ hours, we stood next to several empty tables that could have sat us. At one point, the manager came by so we asked him about the wait and why we could not sit at a table. He said it was reserved but for the entire time we were there, no one sat down in that area, so he either lied or had really poor planning skills. I don't think it was targeted because several couples and work groups were also upset. When we finished our last drink at the bar, of course, that's when we get a text that our table is ready. I pay the tab and then check in with the hostess if we can just sit for a quick bite. The hostess then says she gave our table away already! I got the text less than 5 minutes before that and we were standing right behind her. This really pissed me off to no end and after having spent thousands here on private events, I swear I will never come back after such a disrespectful and disorganized experience.

Yelp
Honestly I did not expect this to be a 5/5, but it is! Food was great, service attentive and helpful. Most importantly, the setting and ambience are very nice. The high ceilings, grandiose setting and live band make this a very nice brunch or dinner option on a rainy NY day.

Yelp
The vibes were fantastic! I'm so glad I came. The Cosmopolitan was perfectly made, and the staff was friendly with fast service.

Yelp
I literally live across the park so I come here very often, whether it's to do work, grab a solo drink, meet a friend, or try to meet men. The drinks are really good and the bartenders are not too pushy. Sometimes I sit a while before I order anything and no one minds. The food here is good too, and the architecture is just iconic.

Yelp
I wanted to check out the Beekman Hotel and stumbled upon the Bar Room which has the atrium directly above it. It's definitely an aesthetically pleasing spot with its decor including bookshelves and art on the walls. The bar has seating and there are many tables throughout. I arrived before it became extremely packed so I was able to sit at the bar but soon it became tough to even sit there as people were constantly trying to place their orders without a lot of bartenders taking them. I sat there for a few minutes and was given a menu and a glass of water. It took like 10 min to place an order and I had to really try. I ordered the Betty Smith cocktail which comes with ford's Gin, St. Agrestis Paradiso, Aquafaba, Orange, Honey. It was really delicious and refreshing. After getting my cocktail I never had any further check ins and had to ask for more water. This is definitely a popular spot with a great view of the Beekman's Atrium, great cocktails but not very good service. It still was an experience. They have a food menu along with beer, wine, and non-alcoholic cocktails. Definitely a good spot in the Financial District.

Yelp
I can't miss the caramelised onion dip whenever I come to NY! It's so addicting! It's dark in there and one night we were there for last call. I'm ashamed to say I licked the bowl in such a classy place. But it was late and not a lot of people were around...

Yelp
We came to the Beekman Bar Room for the first stop of my girlfriend's birthday weekend world tour, as it is the most beautiful setting for a restaurant I have been to in NYC. We were seated in the middle of the atrium in huge lounge-like chairs that I would expect to be in my grandpa's house. After trying to get comfortable in these odd chairs for such a classy setting, I finally settled in and scanned my surroundings. Looking down on us were floors of venetian architecture stacked up on each other as far up as you can see, with a skylight at the top to tie them together. It has an authentic 70s New York feel to it. Around us were foreign hotel guests, finance bros, and some pretty cute couples all dressed classy as hell. That's one of my favorite things about this place, how classy everyone dresses. You'd be wildly underdressed here in jeans and a tshirt, and I love that. I miss when nicer places had dress codes, idk. I ordered a vesper, as I had just gotten a new suit jacket from Marshalls and I was feeling like James Bond in this setting. I just felt cool ordering it. "Oh yeah just a *vesper* for me..." just all casual and nonchalant. I know you don't care and I'm getting off track here, but the Marshall's suit jacket had been marked down to $60, with the original price being $300. Honestly, they could just be making that original price up. I'm such an easy get with that. Sometimes I just want to feel like I won... My Vesper did the trick and I felt like 007, especially with my baby looking FIRE. We ordered Shishito Peppers ($21), 6 oysters ($25), Waygu Burger ($33), Hanger Steak ($39). When those shishito peppers came I couldn't help but laugh as they should have been $7 for that portion. $21 is CRAZY for some peppers. The food was decent, but honestly just a little uninspired. Nothing was bad per se, but nothing is making me want to WRITE. You feel me? I'll just leave you with the Beekman Bar Room is the PERFECT place in NYC to dress up a little bit, grab a few cocktails and order a side of the fingerling potatoes. Those fingerling potatoes make me want to WRITE. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews

Yelp
Great service but super super loud place. We had to yell at each other when talking, pretty much. Cool ambiance. Super dark atmosphere. Great bathrooms.

Yelp
3.5 for food 5 for service 5 for the space Jazz Brunch review Never a dull moment in this space! Steak Tartar - as expected, yum Smoked Whitefish Benedict - it's like a white fish salad croquette, pretty good. Wagyu Burger w/ Fingerling Potato - pretty yummy, fingerling Potato is very crispy. $31 for a burger quite steep though. Curry Cod - little underwhelming. Chicken Salad - dressing was tasty, radicchio and pecan see a plus. Espresso Martini was too sweet, sadly. Service was attentive and great.

Yelp
Had a great lemon drop and good vibes here! If you're going on the weekend I recommend a reservation. Food was decent, but drinks and service were great. If you stay until midnight there's a fun club / lounge underneath the hotel.

Yelp
This place has been on my go-to list, and I was happy to be able to finally go! My friend and I made a reservation to go at 2PM on a Sunday, and the place was decently busy. There's an actual bar for those who probably walk in, but the area has a decent amount of seating. The area was gorgeous, with an atrium that allows a lot of natural light to pour in. The bookshelves and lounge style seats gave a comfy and cozy vibe, which makes this place a great space to meet up and chat with friends! We just ordered cocktails, my friend getting the 6PM Osaka, and I the Jessica Presaler. Both were fruity and delicious, and came in cute glasses! Just a side note, even if you reserve seating in the non-bar area, it seems the staff is ok with you just ordering a cocktail! I know some places have a minimum, or require to order food, but not here, which is nice! It seems less formal than its appearance, I even saw someone doing work on her laptop there. Definitely swing by this place and enjoy its ambiance! The architecture is so unique and pretty, and it really makes you feel like you're in another world.

Yelp
Ambiance and service great. Brisket that was ordered was average. However the pork chop and fish was ok. Very relaxing environment great for a date or a gathering of friends. Would go again.

Yelp
The extra star is only for ambiance, everything else is terrible. Just walk through the hotel and take some pictures, don't waste any more time here. We had 4 people at our party and we were seated at the table behind the host stand. Right behind the host stand. The were leaning on our "couch" - it was so odd. Then the placement of the menus was strange, each a quarter of the table apart, but our table had a couch that took up 40% of the table and 1 chair across from the couch. Such an odd and unpleasant arrangement for 4 people. The food is pretty bad for the price. Even if it was half the price, I would call it bellow average. As many people before me mentioned as well. We got the tuna and steak tartar as well as a burger and 2 slamon dishes. The chips were too greasy and salty, the tartars had almost no flavor. The salmon dish came out cooked to the correct med rare temperature. That's it... The cocktail were good, even though the server brought us the wrong order, then said we can have the cocktail on the house and charged us anyways. When we brought up the extra charge, he stated he'll take care of it, but just stood there... we said we had to go in 5 minutes. So he said he can just give us some drinks, if we wanted. All that meant was he screwed up and didn't want to go to the manager to admit his fault, not good Luis... So we ended up overpaying by $20 for cocktail we didn't want in the first place.

Yelp
Come for the cocktails at the bar. Make a reservation if you can for a table. Great people watching in the city. Drinks will cost you around $20 each, but worth it. Strong drinks! Beautiful views. Cool bartenders and vibes.

Yelp
Went for the Jazz Brunch on a busy Saturday at The Bar Room at the Beekman - great atmosphere. Love the open atrium with a historic feel and the live music was a nice touch. We started with the Brioche Doughnuts which were excellent. We also had the Salmon Toast and the Wagyu Burger, both which were okay. They were busy and seemed a little understaffed but the servers were friendly and helpful. Overall, not a bad choice for a brunch in a unique environment.

Yelp
Excellent bar. Beautiful. Drinks were good. Waiter was prompt. Attached to the Breekman Hotel

Yelp
I've been wanting to dine at the Beekman for the longest time, but unfortunately the food was really average (or even slightly below) so we were all very disappointed. The portion was small and didn't taste fresh. Cocktails are better but also not outstanding. It is really more for the vibe and the beautiful hotel itself. Would probably only come here to grab a drink with work acquaintances in the future.

Yelp
Did a little staycation with a friend at the Beekman thanks to his Amex Platinum benefits, so we got to make use of 1) a $30 per person credit for breakfast here and 2) a $100 credit for another meal of our choice. Ambiance: The Beekman is a beautiful, iconic NYC hotel. When you do have a meal at the Bar Room at Temple Court, look up and marvel at pyramid skylight and the seemingly infinite balconies. Each meal time is very busy. In the morning, we saw a steady rush of hotel guests eating breakfast and lunch (one even in a bathrobe, ha), and in the evening, it was frenetic and the "place to be" for dinner and/or drinks. Everyone was dressed impeccably. Note that if you enter from the back (the hotel side/elevators), you need to walk up to the front of the restaurant (street side) to get seated by the host. Note that if you're seated in the middle section, there are a lot of plush couch/sofa-type seats: you end up leaning back from the table. If you have a lower back problem, you might want a bar seat or a booth. This combined with the general noise level makes it hard to hear those with lower or softer voices. Restrooms are downstairs, separated by gender. There are multiple stalls and full doors for slightly more privacy. Food-wise, everything tasted good, but I think it felt more palatable because of the food credits. I think if I were forced to pay full price, this would be another "one and done" fine and dining experience. Breakfast was particularly overpriced. The smoked whitefish benedict was $27 and a cappuccino $7, and I was upsold some $10 sourdough toast (2 pieces :p). I get that it's a fancy place, but in this economy, this still feels like a crime. For our other meal, we decided on a very late lunch - order before 4 PM. This felt a bit more worthwhile. My friend and I each got a hangar steak (no complaints here, perfectly cooked) and the shaved Brussels sprouts salad (surprisingly HUGE for an appetizer). I also tried the Penicillin cocktail. This is one of my favorites which is hard to find made correctly, even in NYC - the bartender did not disappoint. After tax and tip, our total was ~$159. Bottom-line: if you have Amex or a similar benefit for the Beekman, enjoy your dining experience here. It's nice for couples doing a staycation or for an anniversary celebration. If you are coming on your own just to dine and are not fabulously wealthy, it's worth at least one trip for the 'gram, but not necessarily a repeat destination.

Yelp
Four stars mainly for ambiance. This restaurant is located in the atrium of the Beekman, a Thompson hotel (reviewed separately). A visit to this restaurant/bar is worthwhile simply for the decor, moody lighting, and the one of a kind atrium. The food and the service are mediocre. The first visit (I was a guest at the hotel, so stopped by a couple of times), I had the hangar steak medium. It was probably closer to the side of rare, but I can deal with that. But it was almost cold, had no sear or crust, and was low on flavor. The second time, I had the wagyu burger, also medium. Cooked correctly, but the same--lacking flair and flavor. The drinks are pretty good. I had a couple of mezcal drinks, just the right amount of fruit and smoke. I had the jungle bird. I can't complain about any of them, though the experience didn't leave me with unforgettable memories either. The staff was nice enough, though reserved. I wasn't checked on enough for my taste. I don't need special catering, but would have liked it if they had stopped in more often (would have probably sold me another cocktail or two that way too). Anyway, worth a stop for the architecture and Instagram photos. Don't go just for the food. Oh, and FYI: a lot of the seats are chairs and sofas that sink down low, do this might not be for everyone.

Yelp
Beware this place has a sanitary cleanliness score of "C", NYC's lowest score. This means they have 28 or more points of sanitary violations.

Yelp
The aesthetic and ambiance of The Bar Room is what makes it stand out! It gives an old timey bar vibe, with a hollow ceiling so you can see the floors of the hotel. Looking up as you're eating is an incredible experience! The food was mediocre and overpriced as you'd expect at a hotel restaurant, but the servers are extremely attentive and friendly, which I loved and appreciated. I ordered the steak as my main and the strawberry shortcake for dessert. The food came pretty quick, and it was over all enjoyable, but again, nothing mind blowing. It really is the ambiance and design of the interior that's the best part. It's like you're in a 90s movie!! I overall recommend checking this place out for the experience! I would definitely recommend coming here for drinks, as they have quite an extensive selection. Truly one of a kind place, though!!

N D.

Yelp
Went here for a business brunch, the place is gorgeous, nice atmosphere, furniture is definitely old, but I think it's part of the charm. The food was solid, had the French toast and is was very balanced with sweetness and cooked perfectly. One of my colleagues had the avocado toast and liked it also.

Yelp
Beautiful setting in the Beekman Hotel. The classic interior really sets an elegant ambience, great for dates or just catching up with friends over a fancy cocktail. The drinks list has a good blend of their own creations as well as classic cocktails. The staff here are super professional, gave good recommendations, and were always great about refilling water and checking up on our drinks. Amongst the classic cocktails, the Paper Plane is a New York staple.

Yelp
I was so excited to eat here for Jazz Brunch and had waited months to do so. First off, the tables and chair situation sits you so far away from each other if you're seated at a table for two. The table is large and square and the seats are low to the ground, so you can barely hear each other, especially if you go while jazz music is playing. I only address this since I saw someone else bring up the awkward seating. After waiting about 15 minutes for someone to greet us and take our order, my boyfriend nicely let the hostess know we haven't had anyone come by yet. After another 10 minutes or so, a waiter rushes past us to greet and take the order of another couple who was sat next to us about 10 minutes after our arrival. At this point we've been here almost 25 minutes with no one coming by to acknowledge the wait, take drink orders or anything. Considering the very expensive prices ( which we were okay with if it was great service) and having now almost been here 30 minutes without any order having been taken we decided to leave. On our way out we let the hostess know no one ever came by and when they did they took the other couples order before ours, she said she knows. When my boyfriend said so sorry to do this, but waiting almost 30 minutes, she says well, 22 minutes. I chimed in and said 22 minutes before someone comes by to say hello and at least get drinks going is too long anyways and she agreed. On the way out noticed the 'C' score taped on the door for cleanliness and was shocked at all the hype considering our experience and seeing such a terrible cleanliness score as well. Super disappointing.

Yelp
The environment is breath taking, clean, calm, & inviting . I sat in this leather studded booth with pillows, the table was chess board patterned. I came here for the duck hash which was hash at all. Hash is supposed to have potatoes. Though it wasn't truly hash, it was light and tasty. I also tried their Genmaicha tea and fingerling potatoes as well as the smoked fish Benedict (best i've ever had, fish wasn't overpowering and service on potato cakes). The service was relaxed and not immediate, but the staff was pleasant and inviting. Given their antique persian rug, beautiful chandelier set up, I'd def go back just to sit inside that beautiful place again.

Yelp
This review is for drinks only. I guess I'm surprised this place only has 3 stars, granted I've never eaten the food. I've come here on multiple occasions for drinks and have always loved my experience. I usually make a reservation just in case, but tend to come on the earlier side and it's always pretty empty. The place is absolutely breathtaking. Incredibly cozy and opulent at the same time. Definitely a showstopper and would recommend taking visitors here for a drink. Service is always great. The last time I came I asked for a mocktail (they don't have any on the menu) and the server made something really delicious! But overall, I'd recommend ordering one of their specialty cocktails because they're unique. Drinks are pricey, but pretty standard for NYC. Overall, I think this is a great option if you're looking for a relaxing, but beautiful and not overly trendy place to grab a drink.

Yelp
Came with a group of friends for a reunion and we got a corner table in the back just for drinks before dinner - it was very intimate and we had fun! A friend made a reservation a month ahead and we were able to snag a spot for 5:30, so definitely recommend making a reservation if you're planning on visiting with a larger group. They have a pretty extensive list of cocktails and wines here - seems to be the way with their menus as well, hopefully I can stop by again for a meal soon!

Yelp
To start this off, my friend and I are visiting nyc for the weekend. We are both in our early twenties and have worked in the service industry for over 7 years. The food was pretty average and was overpriced at that. We came here for the ambiance and how beautiful it appeared online. Now the reason we truly gave it 2 stars out of 5... Our waiter. Our waiter did not check in once during the course of our meal, meanwhile we witnessed him check in on the tables next to us on multiple occasions. We waited about 20 minutes for him to even come over initially to order drinks and when he did he rushed us through ordering everything, which wasn't a problem because we had plenty of time to look over the menu while we waited for him. He did not introduce himself and just asked us what we wanted. Mind you, it was not busy. There was also a rushed feeling at the end of our meal due to the fact that he was leaving for the day. We do not know if he was ignoring us on purpose because we appear young or if he plain out forgot about us.

Yelp
Amazing decor and ambiance - very unique and luxurious. The Steak Tartare topped with capers and a quail egg is easily one of the top ten culinary creations I've ever had. Drink menu was fabulous with very strong libations - great date spot as well!

Yelp
Came here about half an hour before our reservation and sat at the bar for a cocktail. The cocktails themselves were delicious and as we had ordered a Manhattan they were served in Nick and Nora glasses! How fun! But the best part was the bartender, a young man named Ollie who was so adept at making drinks that he was mesmerizing to watch. And what a nice young man too! We had an awesome time! Thank you, Ollie!

Yelp
The food was ok and the service to (maybe our waiter was new) though they did check more in the beginning. Though I do have to say the ambiance and music was worth it. Will come back and maybe the next time the service will be too!

Yelp
Really beautiful bar situated in the middle of the hotel- love love love the ambiance! You can sit at a table, booth, or the bar; the entire place is upscale, dimly lit, has a "big" speakeasy feel. I didn't order any food here but I thought the drinks were good and the service was great! Bartenders were very friendly and made my time here enjoyable.

Yelp
Food and drinks are amazing. Service is also very good. The ambiance is fun and cozy.

Yelp
My best friend and I came here for dinner over the weekend and we loved everything we ate. The menu is eclectic and fun, and the ambiance is magical for being a hotel restaurant. My best friend has a nut allergy and paired with my gluten-free and dairy-free eating, it's always a gamble going out to dinner. We were both pleasantly surprised with the menu options. We had the octopus carpaccio, kale apple salad (has seeds), crispy calamari (not gluten-free), and I had the steak with a potato side as my main. I think he got a fish dish, which he loved. All of it was delicious and the service was fantastic.

Yelp
Let's me start off with BAVETTE STEAK, this was so tough, I couldn't cut it with the steak knife they gave me. The guy tells me it's a toothy cut of steak and I replied, "So, you want me to gnaw on it?" No, I'd like something else. There are only 4 options for main dishes with something called "SKATE", apparently if you are a local, you know that it's a fish. I had no idea. They brought it to me and OMG, it was amazing! I bet they'd sell more if it stated it was a fish. Service was good, drinks were good, STEAK and their reaction was horrible. When we left, my husband realized he'd left his wallet on the table, I went back in and asked our waiter at the table and he said no, it wasn't there. As I turned around I saw the lady that sat next to us and started to ask her and then all of a sudden my waiter and 2 others come up to me and hand me the wallet. Ummm, thank goodness there are honest people in NY.

Yelp
Absolutely abysmal service. Had an 11am reservation on Saturday. At the time I made my reservation on Resy, there was only one time slot left to book and it did not state that 11am still constitutes as "breakfast" and thus seating in 'The temple room' not the atrium, not to mention a much smaller menu. Brunch starts at noon here which feels absurdly late and is not stated anywhere on their website. They advertise both online and on Resy jazz brunch all weekend. What that really meant was at 11:58am the jazz band is racing in one by one and warming up their instruments in the Temple room - not ideal for ambiance. Upon being seated in the temple room at 11am I asked if we could be moved to the atrium because it was over half empty. They told us no because they needed the table at 12:30 and it wouldn't be enough time. I ask if we can order from the brunch menu instead of the small lackluster breakfast menu and they said yes. Also had to ask for a cocktail menu at the hostess stand at this time because they only gave our table of 5 people 3 breakfast menus and no drink menus upon being seated for a half empty restaurant - so bizarre for "fine dining". Fast forward to needing to flag down our waiter twice to place drink orders. They forgot about our bar drinks for a solid 30 minutes and finally had to ask them to bring them and you could tell they were sitting melting at the bar that whole time. Coffees were delivered with no cream and sugar, didn't arrive until several minutes after asking - with no spoons. Finally place our food order and the waiter said we can't order off the brunch menu because it's not 12pm yet - told him the manager at the hostess stand said we could and gave us the menus. He went to check and came back and said our food wouldn't come out til 12:15 - 45 minutes later if we did that. We all changed our orders and order from the breakfast menu. Our food still didn't come out until 12:11 :))))). We were freaking over it and ate the bland food quickly to get the hell out of there and were gone by 12:30. Could have just been seated in the atrium like I originally asked EASILY. Still empty tables when we left in there. Had to beg for hot sauce and ketchup, they only brought hot sauce when we were halfway done already. Asked again for ketchup and was brought the smallest dish of all time with legitimately a quarter sized dollop of ketchup. This place is an absolute joke and felt literally robbed paying a close to $300 breakfast bill after that service and experience (only 2 cocktails were ordered so that was for 5 entrees and a few coffees). Go literally anywhere else.

Yelp
The food is mediocre at best and pretty gross at worst. The service during dinner was severely lacking. The ambiance and cocktails are the only things this place has going for it.

Yelp
This review is based off drinks and apps only. My wife and I came here for a date night a few months ago during the holidays and we had a wonderful time! The decor inside was stunning for the holidays with a giant tree and lights that almost made it look like Hogwarts. The high ceiling foyer is a spectacle to revel in and a true beauty. Cocktails were well made and delicious. Service wasn't terrible but could have used a little more attention, we found ourselves looking for our waiter at certain points but not a deal breaker. The Bar Room at the Beekman is a great spot to entertain guests out of the city with its old school yet upscale atmosphere.

Yelp
The Bar Room at Temple court was on my list of places to visit for drinks during our last trip to NYC, and I am glad we went, because the atmosphere is gorgeous, very old New York feel, the space is simply stunning. The bar sits under a nine-story Victorian year atrium, made of wrought-iron balustrades leading to a glass roof. There is a beautiful list of handcrafted cocktails and an all-day menu. You'll find both classic and innovative cocktails, some of them named after famous New York architects and builders of the past, cool! While our waitress was very professional and attentive, our first impression was a lot less impressive; the hostess definitely had an attitude, very disagreeable, a little arrogant. This gave am the feeling of a place quite snobbish and not very welcoming. Still, this place is worth a visit for a drink and maybe a bite, to experience the atmosphere.

Yelp
We had a wonderful dinner with my daughter and her husband plus his parents. I had asked the manager before hand if they could make sure we were in and out in 1.5 hours, and they certainly delivered on both service and food! The tomato tart was amazing, and I'm told the short rib ravioli and Chatham Cod were also delicious. We also enjoyed the Citrus Sorbet and Apple Crostata. The ambiance is nice, if a bit loud. The most important thing is that our daughter had a great meal--at her doctor's suggestion--just before being induced, and The Bar Room made sure we could enjoy everything and arrive at the hospital on time!

Yelp
Pros: Historic and absolutely stunning! We've stayed at the Beekman a couple times and I love just sitting in the bar room and taking in the view. The cocktails are inventive and delicious. Cons: We had 2 separate bad experiences with two incompetent hosts. One was on a power trip and refused to seat me for an hour while folks that came in after me were seated - and no I wasn't rude to her. The second gave away our reservation by mistake and tried to blame us by saying we got there after the grace period - we didn't. She did apologize later though.

Yelp
The décor & ambience are beautiful, but the service is horrible. Lame crowd, mediocre food, and you have to flag someone down to come to your table to place an order. Truly disappointing, with sooo many other nicer restaurants/ hotels to visit in NYC. I do not recommend.

Yelp
Food here is decent, although a bit pricey. But given the fact you're spending $20 a drink anyway...it's kinda normalized. The room itself is pretty grand. It's like one of those open-ceiling hotel lobbies, that stretches all the way to the top floor. I'm not actually sure if the place still functions as a hotel, but you can clearly see doors for the guest rooms in the floors above. Drinks are well made, although lacking complexity. The fruit-based drinks are very fruit-forward, with not much herbal, smoke or other flavors to enjoy, and the non-fruit drinks are very standard.

Yelp
Truly a gem for Sunday jazz brunch on a day when you want to be inside. Perfect atmosphere to take it easy and enjoy what is on offer. The consideration and the hospitality far surpasses any restaurant I've eaten in for a while. Some very nice photos in a dark well-furnished room. The menu speaks for itself - very standard brunch. No surprises so everyone should be content. Drinks were imaginative. Service was not overly attentive (as mentioned by others) yet once the waitstaff was at the table, we received our requested items immediately. But, maybe the waitstaff correctly read our table: my friends and I were there to reconnect; they just let us converse.

Yelp
My favorite little spot in NYC. Drinks are hit and miss but everyone comes for the ambiance and food. I tried the paper plane drink but did not like it consistently when I came (it depended on the bartender making it). The tuna and steak tartare are great. Try the hanger steak too ... worth it . The fish however was clearly shaped and refrigerated because it was dry as well as the apple dessert. I wouldn't order desert or expect the bartender to always be good but go and get dinner on date night !

Yelp
Been here many times both pre-covid and during. Have always been happy with the service, drinks, and food (brunch and dinner). 4 stars for all that. 2 stars for last night (August 16, 2021). Maybe it's their Monday night staff or something, but the service was awful. The person pouring our sparkling water kept almost pouring it into our still water glasses bc he didn't get us another set of (different) glasses for the sparkling. Our cocktails took a very long time to make their way to our table. We could tell the ice had partially melted by the time we took our first sips bc they were probably made and then sat at the bar for a while before our server brought them to us. And then the food took a really long time to arrive. Tried the vegetarian pasta for the first time and it's literally just pasta :( Again, historically for me, I have always loved this place. So I am surprised by how badly last night went.

Yelp
Honestly, the only great thing about this restaurant was the decor, which is absolutely stunning. We were seated at a table way too small for our party of 11, two of our orders came incorrect, the food was subpar at best, and even worse was the service. Very disappointing evening.

Yelp
A beautiful bar in the Beekman hotel in the financial district. A great venue to wind down post-work or after a tough day of being a tourist. Check out their one-of-a-kind craft cocktails, have a bar bite, and relax on one of their comfy couches. Bartenders/mixologists are friendly and pour wonderful cocktails. My Oaxacan Old Fashioned concoction consisted of 400 Conejos Mezcal, Milagro Reposado Tequila, Agave, and Chocolate Bitters. Really? Believe me, it worked and drove the winter chill right out of my bones. Prices are would you would expect for a hotel bar in NYC, but well worth it.
