Rooftop patio with edible garden, paella, & roast pig
"There’s nothing like getting a gnarly sunburn to remind you that hanging out on a rooftop positions you closer to the sun. At Terra Plata, their upstairs herb garden makes paying $22 for brunchtime manchego biscuits and chorizo gravy not frustrating at all. It’s a pretty easy morning party to throw together with reservations. And if early evening cocktail-drinking is more your speed, Terra Plata is ideal for watching the sunset, and eating their homemade waffle-cut truffle chips by the fistful." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley, gabe guarente
"Chef Tamara Murphy is gone, but her restaurant remains an oasis shielded from the usual Capitol Hill busyness. There’s still paella on Mondays, the roast pig still shines, and the rooftop deck is still there. This isn’t a rooftop with much of a view, but it’s covered, heated, and home to the edible garden where the restaurant still sources some of its ingredients." - Brianna Gunter
"There’s something about being on Terra Plata’s rooftop garden that makes brunch a little more exciting, whether it’s the elevation or the kicked-up breeze. At this Spanish-leaning spot on Capitol Hill, you should exercise your brunch rights during summertime only. Refreshing mimosa drinks feature cava, which is a heck of a lot better than the cheap stuff you’ll find elsewhere. The manchego biscuits alone are worth a trip, and it’s wildly easy to book an outdoor table for a group." - kayla sager riley, aimee rizzo, gabe guarente
"If you get less vitamin D than one of those organisms that live near the ocean floor, a brunch on Terra Plata’s rooftop garden should help you feel like a functioning human again when the weather warms up. The Spanish-leaning menu is excellent across the board, though be sure to prioritize manchego biscuits with tangy chorizo gravy or tender green chili pork with hominy and feta. If there ever were a brunch worth getting a shoulder sunburn for, it’s this one. (Please wear SPF.)" - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley, gabe guarente
"Colorful, vibrant dishes fill the menu at the late Seattle culinary legend Tamara Murphy’s farm-to-table restaurant, from the pan roasted morel mushrooms with grilled asparagus and duck egg to the roast pig with manila clams. There’s paella on Mondays, an excellent brunch on the weekends, and a partnership with the Food Is Love Project to feed those in need. Those who are able to nab a seat on the lush rooftop are in for some great scenery, too." - Sophie Grossman
