Window-lined & stylish eatery features a menu of locally sourced dishes & a rooftop patio.
"If you get less vitamin D than one of those organisms that live near the ocean floor, a brunch on Terra Plata’s rooftop garden should help you feel like a functioning human again when the weather warms up. The Spanish-leaning menu is excellent across the board, though be sure to prioritize manchego biscuits with tangy chorizo gravy or tender green chili pork with hominy and feta. If there ever were a brunch worth getting a shoulder sunburn for, it’s this one. (Please wear SPF.)" - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley, gabe guarente
"Colorful, vibrant dishes fill the menu at the late Seattle culinary legend Tamara Murphy’s farm-to-table restaurant, from the pan roasted morel mushrooms with grilled asparagus and duck egg to the roast pig with manila clams. There’s paella on Mondays, an excellent brunch on the weekends, and a partnership with the Food Is Love Project to feed those in need. Those who are able to nab a seat on the lush rooftop are in for some great scenery, too." - Sophie Grossman
"Terra Plata proves that it’s possible to eat dinner on a rooftop garden while it’s actively raining. This Capitol Hill spot also proves that potato chips taste best when they’re cut to look like teeny waffles and dipped into pecorino-dusted crème fraîche. We used to have to wait until May to enjoy this relaxing second-story space, but not anymore, thanks to their tented coverings and space heaters." - aimee rizzo
"At this Capitol Hill restaurant founded by Tamara Murphy — a beloved chef who died in 2024 — dishes like paella and roast pig shine alongside a robust list of cocktails, excellent in takeout form or for chilling outside on the covered and heated roof deck. Diners who choose to hang out there are surrounded by the beautiful garden, which the kitchen uses for ingredients. Now that’s eating locally." - Jade Yamazaki Stewart, Harry Cheadle
"Terra Plata is a celebrated restaurant in Seattle, opened by Tamara Murphy with Linda Di Lello Morton in 2011. It is known for its focus on local and seasonal ingredients, staying true to the philosophy of knowing and respecting the origins of food. Terra Plata is particularly famous for its rooftop garden which grows herbs used by the kitchen. Signature dishes include Monday night paella and roast pig, reflecting Murphy's commitment to traditional culinary practices. The restaurant is located inside Capitol Hill’s Melrose Market." - Harry Cheadle
