Chill local bar with a surf-skate theme serving draft cocktails, fish tacos & burgers alongside DJs.
"The Breakers won’t be reopening on Meeker Avenue. The retro cocktail bar has been marked on Google as temporarily closed. Owner Dave Rosen, who also runs the Woods, tells Greenpointers the closure is permanent. The ’80s-themed cocktail bar opened at this address in 2018. The interior was decked out in neon signs, skateboards, and surfboards." - Luke Fortney
"This SoCal-themed bar in Williamsburg has a big patio out front, and that patio is surrounded by walls, so your dog has very little chance of escaping. We really like the frozen drinks here (and we also appreciate the late-night dance floor), but our favorite thing about The Breakers is their pop-up kitchen, which is currently run by Tito Papas. Even if you don't want a drink, stop by for a hefty burger topped with chunks of Spam." - Team Infatuation
"David Rosen, owner of The Breakers, seeks federal assistance to help the industry during the pandemic."
"Domingo Vega — the chef responsible for bringing step-above bar food to Brooklyn watering holes the Woods and the Breakers — died of COVID-19 complications on April 16." - Tanay Warerkar
"The Breakers took over the Williamsburg space that used to be Battery Harris, but kept a similar setup. There’s a large outdoor area with tables and a view of the BQE, and an indoor area with a DJ and a little elevated dance floor. It’s fun, but it isn’t overwhelmingly clubby, and there’s some good bar food for when you get hungry and start wondering why you’re out past midnight when you could be in bed watching British people help each other bake things." - Bryan Kim, Matt Tervooren
