"Luckily, we still have Gumbo Bros. near downtown Brooklyn, offering several versions of the namesake soup; and Tchoup Shop, which is set in a bar in Bushwick and captures the down-and-dirty aspects of Cajun bar food, including red beans and rice, and a fried catfish po’ boy." - Robert Sietsema
"Critic Robert Sietsema once declared the Gumbo Bros. destination-worthy in a three-star review of the tiny restaurant. It has a small menu, too: three kinds of gumbos and four kinds of po’ boys, including an excellent fried green tomato version. There are sides and desserts to fill in the gaps. The narrow space with its exposed brick wall gives the restaurant a homey look." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya
"The Gumbo Bros., the Brooklyn Cajun-Creole outfit that got a three-star review from Eater NY critic Robert Sietsema." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya
"The Gumbo Bros is a small counter-service spot on Atlantic Ave serving gumbo and po’ boys on plastic plates. Along with a bunch of LSU gear on the walls, there’s a large map showing the towns around Louisiana where all of the ingredients come from. The menu consists of three gumbos and three po’ boys, with a meat, seafood, and vegetable option for each. The dark gumbos are rich and spicy, while the po’ boys are served on bread flown in from New Orleans. Our order here is Nanny’s seafood gumbo, a fried catfish po’ boy, and a couple beers. You’ll start feeling closer to the towns on that map than Jay Street Metrotech a couple blocks away." - Matt Tervooren
