The Hummus Shop - Review - Beacon Hill - Boston - The Infatuation

"Tucked into a rear unit behind a women’s clothing boutique, it’s easy to walk right past the chickpea shingle hung outside The Hummus Shop. That would be a big mistake. One of the few certified Kosher spots in Boston, you’re here for hummus (duh), which is light, zippy with lemon, and the base of every meal here. A standout is the colorful Sabich, with crispy fried eggplant, sliced hard boiled egg, tahini, a finely chopped cucumber-tomato Israeli salad, and a duo of homemade sauces: spicy schug and garlicky toum. You also can’t go wrong with the Fantastic Falafel, served with more salad, schug, and microgreens. There are a couple of tables, but this is truly a take-out-and-eat-it-in-the-Public-Garden (or back at the office) operation." - Catherine Smart

Best Restaurants in Beacon Hill in Boston | Eater Boston

"A recent arrival to Beacon Hill, the Hummus Shop fills a fast-casual void in the neighborhood. This locally owned spot serves up bowls, sabich sandwiches, and salads starring its house-made hummus along with falafel, vegetarian schnitzel, and fried eggplant. Gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan diners thrive here." - Celina Colby

Eater Boston’s 4 Best Dishes That We Ate in January 2025 | Eater Boston

"Positioned as a different kind of lunch-bowl spot while the writer was checking it for an upcoming update to Eater Boston’s vegan and vegetarian map, the sabich bowl hooked the writer within two forkfuls. The star is the crispy, salty fried eggplant pieces, which 'went down like a bag of potato chips,' backed by ultra-creamy hummus, a hard-boiled egg, pickled veg, multiple sauces, and a fluffy side of pita — each supporting element described as a cut above. The writer says if they lived closer, this would be in their weekly lunch rotation." - Erika Adams

Boston’s Best Vegetarian and Vegan Restaurants | Eater Boston

"Sure, this former food truck and now permanent spot by Boston’s Colin Daly serves killer hummus. Savor it solo with a side of hot sauce and topped with tahini and Turkish olive oil, or as the base of a bowl. But the real star of the menu might be the sabich bowl, which adds hard-boiled egg to the combo of hummus, tahini and fried eggplant. A vegan version subs in two perfect falafel balls for egg. Check out the fava bean-based “chicken” schnitzel sandwich, too." - Nathan Tavares

The Biggest Boston Restaurant and Bar Openings, October 2024 | Eater Boston

"Owner Colin Daly has moved the food-truck operation into a shoebox-sized permanent restaurant in Beacon Hill so fans "no longer need to track the vehicle’s whereabouts," offering pita sandwiches and bowls of hummus and falafel from Wednesday through Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m." - Erika Adams

Small spot for amazing falafel and hummus! The store is behind Anton’s cleaners. It’s a tiny store with 3 tables at the time of our visit. Super friendly service. Their falafel is the best! The hummus is a bit thick and dry for my taste, but it is also great!

Tucked away in a quiet corner, The Hummus Shop in Boston is a hidden gem you shouldn’t miss. Don’t let its small size fool you—this place delivers big on flavor. The vegan and vegetarian dishes are absolutely fantastic, with everything tasting incredibly fresh and well-prepared. The staff are warm, polite, and make you feel right at home. Prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. Be sure to try their spicy pumpkin sauce—it’s unique, flavorful, and elevates any dish on the menu. A must-visit spot for anyone who loves wholesome, delicious food.

Place was really a 3.5 for me. It's israeli, a lot of vegetarian dishes on the menu. I'm Lebanese. The hummus was gritty, dry, and I would've preferred more lemon. I wasn't impressed with the falafel really either. A Togo small meal of a $20+ bowl for 3 falafel ($2 upcharge for an extra 4 inch pita and $1 upcharge for hot sauce) felt like overkill. Not really interested in going back due to the cost and the disappointing food.

It’s a small little spot but vibes are great and food is tasty! The owner/manager was super friendly and explained what they had. We got the hummus shareable and it came with their homemade hummus with 2 pitas. They have a house hot sauce that you have to mix in the hummus, it’s so good. It is small inside so not a lot of seating if you’re with a group.

Super tasty falafel and hummus, would definitely recommend if you fancy something different for lunch. Staff were very friendly as well and the food is reasonably priced.

I was super excited to try this place since I’d only heard amazing things—especially about their hummus! I ordered the Sabich bowl. At first, it felt a bit pricey for the portion size, but the flavor totally made up for it. I had planned to save half for later but ended up finishing the whole thing in minutes—it was that good. Honestly, the price felt worth it (especially in today’s economy). Can’t wait to come back! One thing to note - the space is a bit small but I had no wait fortunately.

Best pita sandwich I've had, ever. Phenomenal flavors, wonderful sandwich construction and fantastically fresh. This is now my new standard when trying a new pita sandwich. I had the Sabich. Need to return to try the felafel. The flavors here are so much more complex and refreshing than your traditional pita sandwich. I love those , but this is another level.
