"One of Dallas’s best Turkish restaurants is in a historic house built in 1910, where mayor George Sergeant lived in Bishop Arts District's original residential heyday. Its patterned rugs, ornate light fixtures, and wraparound front porch keep the homey feel intact, while the menu has fine versions of all the classic mezzes and kebabs from the team behind Selda Mediterranean in North Dallas. The real standouts here are the fresh-baked Turkish flatbreads topped with spicy fermented sausage and zingy herbs, finished off with a generous squeeze of lemon. Order as many kinds as your group can handle." - Kevin Gray

"Come for the vibes, stay for the food. This Turkish restaurant in the historic Oak Cliff mayor’s house was restored and finally reopened in 2023 by the folks behind Selda Mediterranean on Belt Line Road. Brunch here to enjoy all of the regular menu: pides, a full menu of small bites, and amazing lamb chops." - Courtney E. Smith

"Chef Graham Dodds will head up a brand new eatery set to debut in a historic Oak Cliff home this summer. Developer Jim Lake bought the historic manse formerly owned by a Dallas mayor to redevelop it into a restaurant. The eatery will seat 120 diners between several dining rooms and an expansive patio, featuring historic fixtures and a large fireplace. Dodds plans to serve brunch, lunch, and dinner with dishes like fish & chips and duck tacos with pickled onions, plus Americana favorites including fondue and fried pies." - Alaena Hostetter

This is a wonderful place to come eat, chill, and relax especially outside with the heaters. Our server, Jenna, was helpful with her suggestions of the fried cauliflower, halloumi cheese, and hummus. The desserts are presented, so you are about to see exactly what they look like before ordering. This is a great place to come and check out!

Excellent food, service, and atmosphere and Max and the staff are just outstanding! We had several dishes and desserts, all highly recommended. Please see my short videos. Their menu may change from time to time, so look through posts to see what they may have for an idea. The paper menu might be a bit different. For example, one in our party had sea bass which I think is a newer item, and baklava was not on the dessert menu this night. There is plenty of parking if you count the dirt lot across the street. We'll definitely be back.

Last Sunday, we came to Mayor’s House by Selda for the first time with our friends. The interior and exterior design was very nice. I loved the its ambience. We ordered Lahmacun, Soujouk & Pastrami Pide, Cheese Pide, Ali Nazik, Chicken Shish, Lamb Chops, Hummus, Lamb Tandır. Everything was very delicious. We were sad that there was no baklava in the day we went, but the food was excellent. Seval took very good care of our table. We would also like to thank the whole team. We are very curious about the exterior part and breakfast. We will probably come again for these. 🌟

Google
The food was tasty, quick, and filling. We made sure everything we tried was something we never had before since they had a lot more offerings than a typical Mediterranean restaurant in DFW. The price point isn't bad based on how filling it is and the area. The house itself was literally the Dallas mayor's house in the 30s, so this restaurant is a cool way to keep that history while making good use of the space. There's a beautiful wrap around porch, but the weather was a little too mercurial for us to sit out there. Bathrooms were nice and had heated seats, which was both exciting and alarming to find out in the moment.

I recently visited a Turkish restaurant, and the experience was fantastic! The food was absolutely delicious, and both the bartender and the restaurant manager were exceptionally kind and friendly. Our server, Beril, was outstanding—she explained all the dishes and desserts to us in detail, making our dining experience even more enjoyable. The bar was equally impressive, offering a wide variety of premium alcoholic beverages and cocktails. Highly recommended!

Loved every bit of our experience here. The place is gorgeous and the ambience was everything we needed for date night. Our waitress Jenna gave great recommendations and made our first experience here a great one! Oh and I can't forget to add that they have HOOKAH!

Yelp
Highly recommend this spot! Seval was an excellent server and made our experience over the top!!! We loved the lamb chops, halloumi cheese and Muhammara. Branzino was beautiful and large but of course, served whole so be ready for bones. We'll def be back!

Yelp
This Charming Turkish Restaurant housed inside the historic residence of a former Dallas Mayor that was recently rated by D Magazine as one of the Best of Dallas 2024 so of course we had to check it out! It was gorgeous and cozy, service was good and some of the food was amazing and others needed a bit more love/flavor! Overall, a great experience nonetheless!! FOOD: * Stuffed Dates - under the spinach & spectacular give another 14 * Fried Cauliflower - another 14 ) * Lamb Shank - tenderrrrr meat, but missing flavor * Kuru Fasulye - was giving fancy bbq but plain * Pistachio Cheesecake Situation * Baklava DRINKS * A Turkish Wine * Water

Yelp
Super impressed with this place's service and tasty food. Prices were fair for the amount of food. And everything is shareable which is great and fun! But the most impressive thing of all was the speed in which we got our food. Seriously we were not even done ordering when the plates magically appeared on the table. We had: - Halloumi Cheese: excellent! 5/5 - Stuffed Dates: 3/5 - Fried Cauliflower 4/5 - Shrimp Garlic 5/5 - Ali Nazik: my favorite, amazing! 5/5 - Cheese Pide 5/5 - Soujuk and Pastrami Pide 4/5 Drinks were tasty too. The house is gorgeous, and the patio very nicely decorated.

Yelp
Went here for a time left meetup. None of us had been here before and we all loved it and said we would be back. I had to beef shish and it was amazing. I will totally be back for more. The place is super cute as well.

Yelp
Food was tender and juicy! The spicy ezme is so good! Food is a bit pricey but you do get a decent sized portion. Drinks are really overpriced however. The place is cool as it is a house you're eating at. Skyline views of downtown Dallas if you're sitting outside.

Yelp
I was first introduced to The Mayor's House at a Yelp UYE setup by some of my favorite Yelpers, and wow, what a place. It's set in a beautiful classic converted two story home, with a number of distinct dining areas, including some very intimate ones like ours. We were seated in a library of sorts with many books about cooking on the shelves, and it was full of light and had a warm vibe. I started with a Turkish coffee martini, being a big fan of coffee. It featured an intense coffee flavor without being bitter, with Tito's vodka adding extra punch along with Kahlua. This is not a subtle drink, but it's awesome if this is the style you like. But what of the food? In a word, outstanding. We sampled a number of dishes family style, and they were all winners. Here are some highlights: Grilled eggplant salad - Wonderfully smoky eggplant is the focus of this dish, and it's delicious. Tahini adds depth of flavor along with EVOO, which helps coat the tongue with those great flavors. Definitely try this. Stuffed dates - An interesting presentation, these were sweet on the outside, and the inside almost reminded me of a good NY deli with the pastrami and cheese, with a little extra flavor from the spinach. A substantial bite. good for sharing. Fried cauliflower - A perfect execution of the classic dish, great browning but still retaining the "tooth" of the cauliflower, it was tasty by itself or with the chimmichurri. Beyti Special - Definitely a favorite, if not THE favorite, at the table. Kind of a interesting dish that presents as a flatbread rollup, but it's so much more. Tender, well spiced chopped lamb is wrapped on flatbread, and sliced into what I'd call two bite sized pieces. Tomato yogurt added a great contrast to the meat, and made for a dish that everyone gobbled up. Beef shish - Big honkin' skewers with super tender grilled beef tenderloin, this dish was another winner, and had a great presentation to boot. We also had to get some desserts, since ten people can share without anyone's blood sugar spiking. I'll just be brief here and say that, while the baklava was fantastic, the pistachio cheesecake was the clear winner. It had a great texture, not too dense, not too soft, and was also perfect in sweetness. The slight crunch of the pistachios added a great contrast to the soft filling, making this a total knockout of a dessert. Definitely try this. Bottom line, this is a wonderful restaurant with a great decor, great service, and even better food. It's a win all around.

Yelp
The ambiance is a bit more upscale than casual without feeling stuffy. My husband and I ordered the Halloumi cheese as a starter which was delicious- it came with bread. The fig marmalade under the cheese added just enough sweetness. For our main meal, we ordered the lamb chop on orzo and the Beyti special. Both were not only so tasty but also huge portions! My husband finished his lamb chop, but was stuffed- I took my left overs home and had a delicious lunch the next day. We finished off our meal with an orange and chocolate cake which was just the right about of sweet without being too heavy.

Yelp
Nestled in a charming location at Bishop Arts District, The Mayor's House by Selda offers a great dining experience especially for a big group--it's a Turkish cuisine journey that will please all the senses. From the moment you step through the door, you're enveloped in an ambiance that balances rustic charm with modern elegance, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience .The dishes served at The Mayor's House are nothing short of extraordinary. Each plate shows Selda's commitment to quality and creativity. It showcases a harmonious blend of traditional flavors, ensuring that every bite is both familiar and exciting. Whether you're indulging in a rich, slow-cooked main or sampling a light, refreshing appetizer, the attention to detail in flavor composition is evident. The ingredients are fresh and thoughtfully sourced, and the presentation is as artful as it is appetizing. The dessert menu consists of items that I haven't had before so I table rightfully ordered the most unique ones. We opted for the Turkish flan, pistachio cheesecake and the classic baklava. Each dessert is very decadent and to die for. The service at The Mayor's House is impeccable, striking the perfect balance between attentiveness and discretion. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the food they serve. This level of service, combined with the cozy yet refined atmosphere, makes you feel like a welcomed guest in a beloved home rather than just another diner. The Mayor's House by Selda is a destination for anyone who appreciates the art of great dining. The delicious dishes, amazing wine, and decadent desserts are reasons enough to visit, but it's the overall experience that will keep you coming back. Whether for a special occasion or just a night out, The Mayor's House by Selda offers a dining experience that is as memorable as it is delicious.

Yelp
This location is a wonderful fusion of history and rich Turkish culture, elevating the dining experience for anyone who chooses to dine here. It is beautifully decorated, with ample seating both indoors and out, all complemented by a friendly and attentive staff. Our group decided to treat the menu as a tasting experience, ordering a variety of appetizers and large plates to share. The dishes arrived swiftly after our order, each one artfully plated, and more importantly, every bite was dangerously delicious. The vegetables were fresh, the dressings creamy, and the proteins cooked to perfection. I honestly couldn't find a single flaw in any of the dishes we tried. Even though we ordered boldly, we made sure to save room for dessert. The assortment was like a dream, making me feel like a kid in a candy store--the hardest part was choosing and not take it all for oneself! Whether it's a romantic date, a family gathering, or a work dinner, I highly recommend making a reservation at the Mayor's House. Experience the comfort and joy of sharing a meal with loved ones, friends, or colleagues.

Yelp
I truly loved this place!! I enjoyed seeing a number of my Yelp Elite's. We had great discussions, and conversations about everything. I was a tad bit leery about trying Turkish cuisine but I can honestly say, It's clean very tasty, freshly cooked, and delicious. I'll definitely return with my family, and more friends. 10/10 Irem was a pleasant server. She really knew the foods, and broke down what the desserts were to us. This was such a delightful experience. My Elizabeth Pide $18 had bits of Salmon on top, spinach, and cheese pide. This was baked in the oven and it was amazing. OMG!!!

Melissa G.

Yelp
Never heard of this wonderful place so I feel like I discovered a great secret. Fresh, authentically prepared Turkish food in a stunning historic home. The service was warm and professional and the ambiance was relaxed. A lovely lunch and a place I will return to. There were too many things I want to try!

Yelp
Wow! After enjoying our experience at Selda Kitchen, we came to The Mayor's House with high expectations and they were met. We were pleased to see some of our favorites like the chicken adana and fried cauliflower on the menu. The ambience was lovely - we were seated on the lawn in front. Garlic shrimp and chocolate bowl were also highlights of the meal! Would skip on the Elizabeth pide and Sultan dip. The only downside is that parking is a hassle. Otherwise, the service, food, and overall environment make this restaurant a definite Dallas gem!

Yelp
Very cozy spot in a historic home. The restaurant has multiple intimate dining areas inside, upstairs, and an extensive well lit patio for hookah . The staff were very welcoming and accommodating, offering fire pits and blankets outside. It got busy when we first got there so be patient as they set up the heaters but once the food was in, their kitchen rolled it out very quickly. The fried cauliflower was delicious and big with a perfect sauce drizzled 5/5. The hummus was a bit bland/watery but the pita was soft and warm 3/5. The grilled chicken wings were exactly that, they were charred and not dry so that's a plus 4/5. The Ali Nazik was also very good with generously sized chunks of tender meat, the eggplant side with it was creamy but on the sour side with it being yogurt based 4/5. The Beyti special stole the show- the lamb wraps were full of flavor and depth paired with a lemony salad 5/5. Our hookah messed up from the start and tasted burnt but they worked with us and replaces it for a new one at no additional cost. Over all a great spot to dine or to lounge with friends.

Yelp
5 stars all around. I keep thinking about my time here, fondly of course. It's hard not to feel like something special is going on when you visit, even for a casual lunch -- the food is delicious and vibrant and the setting itself is so pretty and interesting. It's an historic home in the Bishop Arts District turned restaurant, apparently home to a past Dallas mayor in the 1930s. It's only opened up publicly as a Turkish restaurant fairly recently, and I'm so glad, because now I can appreciate the original design of this centuries-old home up close with a fantastic glass of wine in hand and the most beautiful, best-smelling food in front of me. My friend and I came in for lunch on a hot summer Wednesday and had the best time ever. I was happy to sit near a floor vent where cool air breezed by my legs, and we took our very-kind waiter's suggestion to start with the friend cauliflower. It's gluten free, seasoned well, lightly fried, and served with a bright and garlicky chimichurri sauce. There's no way you read that and don't want it! We also got hummus with pita and veggies (gf for me), which was soooooo good. You know we dipped every single thing in there from the carrot sticks to our kabobs entrees to spoonfuls of fragrant Turkish rice and grilled peppers. My beef shish-kabobs were the most perfectly tender and flavorful tenderloin medallions served atop golden Turkish rice with a cold side salad of white beans, cabbage, and broccoli. There are so many more things I want go try on the menu, especially from the "small plates" section. Dates stuffed with goat cheese, pastrami, and spinach... sautéed shishito peppers with garlic yogurt sauce, halloumi cheese with fig marmalade, soujouk (Turkish sausage) lollipops with feta... This Mediterranean menu is really beautiful and made to share, and the ambiance and service is just as lovely as the cuisine.

Yelp
Well this was an exquisite lunch nestled in one of my favorite places in the city, Bishop Arts. Mayor's House by Selda is a charming Turkish restaurant which was once the home of a Dallas mayor, filled with eloquent dining rooms and gorgeous decor. The ambiance has a thirties-era inspired feel and the service is just lovely. It's two stories tall and the upstairs even has a quaint room converted into a library. We were in awe once we arrived to see a large deck perfect for patio seating (of course in the cooler months). The food was delicious. Turkish-inspired menu with amazing options and inclusive of most dietary restrictions. Highly recommend the hummus and friend cauliflower for a starter. The pita bread is chef's kiss. I ordered a chicken kabob plate with rice which was also amazing. The chicken was a bit dry but I'd definitely order again. Drinks: they offer tons of wine options, by the glass or bottle. Turkish coffee and espresso martinis as well! I suggest you head here for a romantic night out or special occasion. It's a bit on the pricier end but the service is top tier.

Jocy R.

Yelp
This was the perfect spot for a romantic date night! We reserved our table same day for outside seating and it was amazing! The only thing that bothered us was the pesky flies! They swarmed our table as soon as our food arrived. For a starter we enjoyed hummus with pita bread as well as a bottle of wine! For our entrees, I enjoyed the signature Adana Kebob and my bf enjoyed the Beyti Special. Both were very good and refreshing! The ambiance and service were amazing! The history of the establishment itself is so cool to hear about! We will definitely be returning for a future date night soon!

Dave G.

Yelp
Wow, what an amazing place for a meal. We sat outside (my wife, and infant son); service was great, even with us outside! Atmosphere inside looked great, very lively for a Saturday afternoon. It was the old Dallas Mayor's house - so historical old world vibes. Bathroom was very clean! Food - This is the true star of the show as any good restaurant should be. We had the Muhammara (red pepper w/pita) appetizer, Fried Cauliflower; and Spinach/Feta Pida. Muhammara was very refreshing, topped with a good quality olive oil. Fried Cauliflower was SO GOOD. Some of the best I've had. Not overly fried, nice and tender with some of the best sauce i've had. Spinach and Feta pita was so fluffy and perfectly seasoned. My wife and I had the Lamb Shanks for the Entree. Very well braised! Orzo was so delicious and it was great for a full meal. Dessert we had the San Gabriel cheesecake - it was good!! Highly recommend the restaurant.

Marcus R.

Yelp
Stellar ambiance that's walking distance to the rest of bishop arts! While the inside of the restaurant is beautiful and intimate, the outdoor patio is just as lovely! Drinks are well made (highly recommend the espresso martini), and you can't go wrong with any of the food, but the fried cauliflower was definitely a surprise!

Shafia A.

Yelp
I had such a wonderful dining experience at this charming restaurant! The weather was perfect, so we opted to sit outside and soak up the beautiful ambiance created by Turkish lanterns and cafe string lights. The inside is just as lovely, with a cozy atmosphere. Our server was incredibly attentive and friendly, making our evening even more enjoyable. As for the food, it was outstanding! We're familiar with Turkish cuisine, and each dish was prepared so well. From every ordered dish to dessert, everything was delicious, and we enjoyed every bite. The location is unique, nestled amidst city residential areas. It feels like dining in a tastefully converted house-turned-restaurant, with a nice view of city buildings and greenery. It's definitely a spot for a romantic date night or a fun evening out with friends. Overall, I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to enjoy delicious Turkish food in a beautiful setting with excellent service.

Bri S.

Yelp
I had an intimate 25 person wedding reception here. It was perfect! Jenna was more than accommodating for everything to be perfect on our special night. The cost was extremely affordable too. I highly recommend the eggplant. Every guest was raving about it. And the desserts are beautifully crafted. The service was prompt as well. 5 stars all around.

Shivani M.

Yelp
Immediately when I parked I could already tell the ambiance insides would be lovely. The outside is lined with string lights and there is a cute wrap around porch with plenty of seating. To start we got the hummus which came with pita feta and olives. It was one of the best hummuses I have ever had. We then got the fried cauliflower which was a little spicy, but it had a great flavor to it almost like a spicy mayo. Next we got the spinach and feta pide. The flavor of the spinach was so tasty and the spices gave it a unique flavor. It was also pretty large so you can definitely share with around 4 people. I will definitely be coming back to try more dips and apps as I am vegetarian. Overall, great service, great food, and great ambiance.

Monica B.

Yelp
Today was perfect patio weather. We sat outside and had the hummus and my favorite bread!! Our main meal was chicken shish and beef shish. Everything was delicious. The meat was tender and seasoned. The bean and tomato salad light and delicious as well. The service was top notch everyone tootook care of us. We had great conversation with the bartender and our server. They're great. Side note; save room for dessert. I didn't!! I will be back dessert 1st!

Bridget B.

Yelp
Love love love! We stumbled upon The Mayor's House while looking for a dinner spot in the Bishop Arts area. From the outside, I thought it was a classy American style restaurant. Upon coming in, we could quickly smell and see that the menu was Mediterranean with options ranging from kebabs to lamb chops. Every plate that walked past us smelled and looked delicious, and those assumptions were accurate! The meat was flavorful & juicy, rice was delicious, beans were well marinated and not overly salted, and the dessert was the perfect way to top off the experience. My only reason in docking 1 star is that we originally sat at the bar while waiting for a table to be open and the bartender was so rude that we had considered leaving prior to our table being ready, but luckily the rest of the experience was wonderful and convinced us to stay.

Kelly S.

Yelp
I haven't had much Turkish or Mediterranean food and it was really good! I was surprised with how packed it was so late at night. I think we got there around 9:30 pm. Our food was very quick and we were seated immediately. The restaurant set up is in a house so that's cool. There are different seating areas outside as well as in the house and even on the second floor which is where we were. The kale salad was really yummy but the kale could have been massaged a bit more to make it more tender. The antalya piyaz was a bit bland- it needed more salt or brightness. The hard boiled egg on top was over cooked (i could see the bits of green in the yolk)- i think a jammy egg would have been nice in this dish. The fried cauliflower was very flavorful and the sauce was so good. The cauliflower itself was kind of soggy. We were definitely looking for it to be crispy. I liked using the bread to sop up the sauce from this dish. We also shared the lamb chops. I have not had much lamb in my life and wow was that amazing! It was juicy, fatty, and just delicious. Very well seasoned. The rice and beans it came with were decent- the rice could have more seasoning but over all so delish. Will definitely have to come back and try more things.

Stacie A.

Yelp
You know that big white house off Zang that's been there for years? Well it's a restaurant now! Though the exterior and interior would suggest homestyle or southern cuisine, its actually a Mediterranean restaurant with all the yummy goodies (think hummus, shawarma, lamb, etc). Definitely doesn't align with the Southern mansion esthetic, but it's a beautiful home that has been beautifully renovated. They have not been open long so they are understandably still working out some kinks with service and order execution. On my recent lunch visit, our server was super busy with basically every table on the bottom floor. Still, he was able to get our orders in a timely manner. The food was good, but I found everything a bit lacking in flavor. Like, the white bean salad just needed a squeeze of lemon and maybe some fresh herbs and salt and it would have been great! Same for the chicken and hummus, the flavors were just a bit muted. We LOVED the spinach feta pide and lamb though! Definitely recommend those! There's room for improvement, but I'd still recommend giving them a visit if you're in Oak Cliff.

Chef Ron J.

Yelp
The service was excellent! Jerra (if I am spelling it right) the server outside on 11/23/2024 was amazing at her job!! Very knowledgeable and very friendly! I only want her to by my server!! The wingz were great and the hookah was just right! I will be back!!

Maria A.

Yelp
We had a reservation at Lucia for a birthday dinner and they recommended The Mayor's House after an unexpected closure for the week. So happy they did! Must Orders: 1. The grilled branzino, our favorite. 2. The fried cauliflower, spiced perfectly. 3. The tzaziki, our server's favorite, stark white, thick, and homemade. 4. The eggplant dip, fresh and delicious. Whoever designed the lighting did a fantastic job. It's warm, clear, and inviting. If we didn't have a scheduled show we would have loved to stay longer. The complimentary bread was a little tough but I imagine this will work itself out. From the massive joy-producing homemade dessert tray we chose the pistachio cheesecake, unlike any I've had. I'd book for dinner before reservations start filling up.

Yelp
I just recently came here and had an incredible dining experience. The restaurant is stunning, the waiters are very friendly, and the food is absolutely delicious. There are several incredibly tasty vegetarian appetizers and I would highly recommend the spinach and feta pide. Portion sizes are pretty large here too so this would be a great place to split multiple plates between the table. Will definitely be coming back soon

Joseph F.

Yelp
Food (4/5): Everything was tasty, simple, and fresh. We ordered the grilled eggplant salad to start and had the Beyti special and lamb shish for entrées. The eggplant "salad" is a spread that comes with Turkish bread to scoop it up. Great salad by our book. The main dishes were both tasty, easy to eat, reasonably portioned, and not greasy. I think the price is a bit high, which is why I am giving 4 stars. We had the rice pudding for dessert, which was also tasty and simple. Service (5/5): Authentic and kind. Our server was from Istanbul and gave great recommendations when he heard it was our first time at the restaurant. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time. We never waited too long before someone would stop by if we needed something. Atmosphere (4/5): It's in an attractive old building that's been given some Turkish flare. Everything was clean, the tables are appropriately spaced, and the noise level is good. There are restaurants at the same price point that do seem more polished. However, this is a very easy place to enjoy if you aren't hyperfocused on price.

Yelp
Best Mediterranean/Turkish food in Dallas! This is where you want to eat! Beautiful location. Friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful food. Stop searching, go now. Great for casual lunch or upscale dinner. Weekday or weekend.

Anne S.

Yelp
I've eaten here three times: twice for dinner, and once for lunch. Every single experience has been phenomenal, and the value is unreal. FOOD: - The seasoning on the lamb chops will blow your mind. Do not skip this dish. - Muhammara dip is unreal. Try it mixed with their plain hummus (which is just beautifully smooth and flavorful) or tzatziki. - Fried cauliflower comes on a trio of delicious sauces that elevate this dish to out-of-this-world levels. - Don't miss the pacanga boregi either; so simple but so much flavor! - We haven't had a "from the oven" dish (flatbreads) that we didn't like. Even the ones that sound weird (salmon?!) are delicious. - The beyti special is another great dish, basically like a lamb pita wrap that's served sliced up, very shareable and great for kids in particular. - The branzino is one of my favorites in Dallas. Such fantastic flavor. - Every main dish comes with a delightful, fresh, bean and cucumber salad and tasty rice as a side. - Don't skip the dessert cart!! Mayor's House introduced us to the Turkish dessert called malaga, which is a whole banana on top of a delicious chocolate cake, all sealed with a chocolate shell. Our entire table went nuts over this dish...but also over some of their other desserts. Not a bad one in the bunch. DRINKS: Don't order cocktails here...their Turkish wine list is unreal. Ask for guidance; we've never been steered wrong. The Angora cabernet was especially delicious. SERVICE: Always top notch...so incredibly friendly and welcoming and kind and helpful. Many of the staff seem to be Turkish or from nearby countries (our last waiter was Azerbaijani). They are always happy to answer respectful questions about life in their homeland, explain some of their traditional foods on the menu, introduce you to the lovely experience of Turkish coffee, and generally just make you feel like you're eating at a friend's home. AMBIANCE: We've eaten indoors, outdoors, and upstairs in a private "library" room with its own little balcony (which, sadly, was locked). All three experiences have been great, although the "library" room might have been our favorite, especially for a bad-weather day. They have a really lovely outdoor patio now, which wasn't finished on our first two visits, but definitely check it out. Lots of comfy seating with big strands of lights overhead and lovely drapes hung to hide the street from view. TL;DR: Best experienced with a group of at least four people. Dishes (even the dips) are nice and large for sharing, which is good because you'll want to share and try a lot of them. The value is UNREAL...you simply can't get food this good for prices this good anywhere else in Dallas. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and they take the delightful European approach of letting you linger at your table for literally as long as you want, not bringing the check until you ask for it. If you want to replicate the feeling of a leisurely dinner at someone's house, relaxing around the table and chatting long after the meal is done, this is the place to be. It is my happy place, and I hope you love it as much as I do! Bring friends and come linger and relax here.

Yelp
Jenna was our server and so great. We had a large group and she gave us fantastic service even though we were a rowdy group. The food is fantastic, particularly the salmon, and highly recommend the wine. Great for a group dinner!!! Edited to add a few more details: the house wine selection is both reasonably priced and high quality wine, but if your group is having more than two glasses you might as well get a bottle. The desserts were delicious, and I was very impressed by how careful they were in pointing out gluten free dishes for my celiac friend. There are gluten free desserts, pita and MANY dishes to choose from. If it's not too hot out I highly recommend sitting outside as it's a very pretty view and there is plenty of room outside.

Yelp
What a pretty place! Beautiful converted house that has historical background (hence the name) Awesome wrap around patio. We sat outside since it was a beautiful day. But the interior was cozy and inviting They made one of the best mojitos I've had in dallas (really) - I had three so I know about what I speak! The bartender made a good martini too but we asked for feta stuffed olives but got regular ones *sigh* No biggie but perhaps next time.... Our server was very attentive and friendly. Food was tasty. Hummus was great Stuffed dates were nice as well Soujouk lollipops were not actually on sticks but quite delicious The chicken shish was flavorful and I was told by my companions that the beyti lamb dish was really good. The Turkish coffee martinis were delightful as our dessert We really wished they had baklava (maybe that's not a Turkish dessert..?) Place has private parking lot as well as plenty of street parking on the side All in all a fine meal and we will definitely be back

Yelp
Came here for a pre brunch and to try the Turkish coffee and boy was i not dissapointed. The way they have the place setup is great use of the house in its entirety. The Turkish coffee, mind you I'm not a huge coffee guy, was delicious and had a nice chocolate flavor to it. Highly recommend trying the stuffed dates too filled with goat cheese. They were delicious and the service was great too and we were well taken care of.

Yelp
I love both Selda Restaurants I have been to numerous times. Excellent Turkish inspired food. Delicious. Try the excellent Sangria too!

Yelp
The service was amazing! We were tended to immediately and also had a mini rundown on the best dishes to try being first timers to Turkish food. On top of their service the restaurant was GORGEOUS! I love how they repurposed a beautiful house into an even more gorgeous restaurant. We sat inside near the bar but the patio was decorated so so nicely, definitely sitting there next time I come in the afternoon to enjoy a cocktail in their little patio escape that gives Tulum/Greece vibes. We tried their fried cauliflower which was honestly my favorite along with their tzatziki & bread. Their main entrees were juicy and refreshing and we topped it off with some Turkish coffee and dessert. I absolutely loved how they serve their Turkish coffee, definitely adds to the experience and overall enjoyment. I would highly recommend this place to friends and family! The staff were so nice & attentive, the vibe was amazing, and the food is so tasty!

Yelp
Amazing experience overall. The service was very quick and the staff made excellent recommendations. The grilled eggplant was our favorite dip. Our group ordered the lamb shank, beyti special and Mediterranean Sea bass and everyone was very happy with their choices. There were also vegan options for one in our party. We will be back, hopefully on a night it's not raining so we can sit in the patio.

Yelp
I liked this place. It's definitely out of my normal food taste but I'm glad I've experienced it. I ordered the garlic lemon shrimp! It's amazing! Needs to be on some pasta lol. The lamb chops are bussing! Just mediterranean food is different but a good different. The ambiance was nice but my server was okay. She presented all the deserts to us and I ordered the strawberry cheesecake. Could've been better but I liked it.

Yelp
This place was just beautiful with the setting being in an old house in Dallas. The finished to their ambience was only second to their food and customer service. Service was extremely attentive and the food was just delicious.

Yelp
Oh my word the food was SO GOOD. What a cute place too, in a restored historic home. Kind of a yuppie crowd but it's Dallas, so I guess that's to be expected. I can't even tell you exactly what we ate because we asked the server her opinion on the best lamb dish and best beef dish and just said YES PLEASE. Whatever she chose was ON POINT. YUM. Frankly, I wish this was a hole in the wall so we could partake in the deliciousness more often without going broke, but for an infrequent night out in celebration, the food and experience was worth the high price. Do go!

Yelp
The mayors house converted into a restaurant in bishop arts! Very incredible atmosphere, service and all thing food!!! Must get Halloumi Cheese app & enjoyed the red pepper dip. Must have the LAMB too!!!

Yelp
Mayor House has been a long anticipated restaurant in the Bishop Arts area! I was so excited to finally get a chance to try and it 100% did not disappoint. Now that the weather is getting warmer, we opted for a nice evening on the patio/porch to enjoy hookah with our meal, and it was a great comfortable evening. We had a small party of 3 and got 2 appetizers (tzatziki and eggplant salad) and it came with amazing bread, along with feta & olives to dip. A great way to start to the meal. The house has a great price point for house wine's so we decided to share a bottle of sparkling and order 2 entrees (the beefshish and lambshish) - both were amazing. Both entrees were perfect sizes for sharing and we even left with leftovers! The lamb has to be the MUST try on the menu. To end our meal with our hookah, we enjoyed some Turkish coffee along with the Turkish espresso martini which was one of the best I've ever had. Their desert menu changes constantly and all of them looked amazing however after an amazing meal, we simply didn't have enough room. Service is a bit on the slower side, but regardless our server was amazing, very knowledgeable and provided us a great experience to come relax, and enjoy some great food & great company. So excited to come back and try some more!

Yelp
Great food and flavors Service was good, but I did not like the lacking of a drink menu - kinda hard to order without any suggestions on paper in front me but I'm sure they will be getting them made or brought from the other location soon The food flavor wise was incredible but the portion size of the meat on both shish plates was not worth the money at all. Price should be cheaper for that portion size. It was 6 pieces of steak

Yelp
Where to begin? I chose this restaurant for a late lunch birthday celebration between myself and my best friend. I called ahead to make sure it was wheelchair accessible (it is) and when we arrived, we found it to be a historical home with lots of charm, but plenty of modern details and definitely easy to navigate with the wheelchair. Food was top-notch from the beginning hot naan and eggplant appetizer to the shish kebab to the dainty (pistachio) baklava. They advertise Mediterranean food, but read Turkish. The staff is native and the food is authentic as it gets. Your Turkish coffee will be served in a beautiful Turkish style cup. It was a delight from start to finish. They have nice patio seating too when the heat recedes. This place is a must see for Dallas history buffs as well.

Yelp
Can I give it ten stars?! I came home back to Austin telling my husband about how fantastic this food was. For shame, I forgot to take a pic before we'd consumed 2/3 of it. We ordered a beet and feta salad, hummus, and a Lahmacun (Turkish style flatbread with minced lamb meat, topped with herbs and veggies)...ohhhh myyyyy Lord, that was amazing! Not to mention the Mayor's house is an absolutely stunning home and location for this business. The ambience is exquisite. Don't walk, run to this place!!!!

Yelp
Some of the best food we have ever had!!! The stuffed dates with spinach and walnuts... excellent!! I had the garlic shrimp... the flavor exploded in my mouth... the lamb chops, my husband said the best he's ever had, and he tries the lamb chops everywhere he goes , had a wonderful smoky flavor. We will definitely be back!!!!

Yelp
This is an amazing atmosphere set in the old two-story house with a large wrap around porch. Seating is close to others but comfortable. Service was as friendly as it comes from everyone we met. They truly want you to know they are happy you came. Parking was a nightmare, as there are very few spaces in their lot and on the street - best to Uber. There was no valet parking on our visit. Spaces are small and some jerk (gender neutral) in a gray Toyota SUV decided to take two spots by parking at an angle with one wheel in the other space. Nothing the restaurant can do about that, but one of the owners of the restaurant actually went out, without being asked, to look at the car and see if he recognized it. Above and beyond. They have a full bar and we opted for cocktails vs. wine this night. Turkish/Mediterranean cuisine. We did not care for their humus - not much flavor. Their Tzatziki was excellent, as was the bread they provide. We all especially liked the fresh baked Spinach Feta Pride flat bread. Plenty to share for 4 and so good. We asked to share 3 entrees and they gave us recommendations. Our food arrived quickly and was perfectly prepared. It was a bit challenging as they did not provide us serving utensils for sharing. We shared the Beyti Special, the Kulbasti, and Ali Nazik (beef). The Ali Nazik was the best in our view, but all three were good. Great meal, but took a really long time before they cleared our dirty entree plates and asked if we wanted dessert or the check. That was the only service issue we had. They bring a large tray of freshly made desserts out for you to choose. We had the pistachio cheesecake and the special banana covered in chocolate on cake. Both were ok and huge portions. Either could have been shared by 3+. Finally, we asked for some Turkish tea, which we all enjoyed. It was surprisingly not very strong and comes in a small glass, and we definitely would have liked more than the small amount served.

Yelp
This place is simply divine. The ambiance indoor and outdoors is so romantic. The food also didn't disappoint! We got the Muhammara, tzatziki, chicken shish and spinach and feta pide. We loved our entire experience here start to finish. The only suggestion I have is perhaps including a vegetarian entree on the menu, but otherwise I will be back!
