Visited here with my wife in January 2025 during a trip to NYC. The Parlour Room appeared moody with a library-esque vibe to it, something that seemed fun and different from other bars in the area.
We were greeted happily and used the complimentary coat check upon entry and were given a numbered tag to receive our coats after the meal. Seated almost immediately as we had a reservation booked. The host/manager was very friendly upon entry.
We were seated very quickly and had a quick gander at the menu before ordering. I ordered a Parlour Room burger with fries and my wife ordered the Caesar salad with salmon. We got an order of warmed crab dip to share. I also ordered a cocktail and my wife ordered a Riesling. While ordering was quick, my wife and I both noticed that our waitress did not seem friendly or warm by any means, as she was somewhat short with her answers. Not quite rude, but it was quite obvious she would have rather been anywhere else tonight. Nonetheless, we ordered and enjoyed the scenery and conversation.
The crab dip came out quickly and was very good! It's no Pappadeaux crab dip, but it certainly tried its best and was more than enjoyable. 8/10 on the dip.
My wife's Caesar salad and salmon were brought alongside the crab dip. She said it was pretty good, not better than Keen's down the street, but respectable for the price point.
Unfortunately, my food did not come out alongside her own food. I waited probably about 45 minutes, ordering another drink, finishing that one, and waiting for my wife to finish her own meal before I had enough and asked the manager for an update on my entree. He ran off to investigate.
He returned roughly 5-10 minutes later and shared with me that our waitress had forgot to enter in my entree to the POS system and added it later on after eventually remembering to do so, resulting it to be scheduled to be brought out after another party of 14 dining at The Parlour Room. Hence, the wait. He profusely apologized for the mixup, stated the order would be brought out ASAP, and even offered a complimentary dessert as an apology, which we accepted. We got Creme Brûlée, which was quite delicious! Better than Keens' crème brûlée down the street. Also, the burger was aight, but the French fries were honestly some of my favorite that I've ever had. Very crispy and crunchy on the outside, but not soggy, overcooked, or over/under-seasoned. I did not see our waitress around the restaurant at all after the mixup.
Overall, good food, great drinks, moody and mysterious vibes, and great management. This place is worth trying out if only to experience the setting while enjoying a few cocktails or whiskey tastings. 4/5.
