"The Po’Boy Shop seems like a small counter-service joint until you head to the basement—a neon-lit oasis with pool tables and darts for the 21-and-up crowd. Their menu has all the usual NOLA standards: tasty gumbo, red beans and rice, and jambalaya. But, it’s not called the gumbo shop, so get the po'boys, which are the best we’ve had outside of Louisiana. Out of the 20 sandwich options, we’re partial to the Debris, which comes with tender roasted beef, gravy, and a warning label that it’s messy (can confirm). The visit isn’t complete without a strong hurricane or Purple Voodoo." - juli horsford, jacinta howard, nina reeder
"This Decatur spot offers a range of Creole and Cajun foods, but they aren't called the Po'Boy Shop for nothing. They've got 21 po'boy options with plenty of protein varieties like alligator, oysters, and crawfish. We’re partial to the Debris, which comes with tender roasted beef, gravy, all on Leidenheimer bread. We usually stock a pile of napkins the size of Everest because the excessive amount of tasty gravy makes the sandwich extra messy (there's even a warning label on the menu). Those over 21 can skip the upstairs order counter and head downstairs to the neon-lit oasis with a bar, pool tables, and darts." - juli horsford, nina reeder
"Right next to Buena Gente Cuban Bakery, The Po’Boy Shop & Basement Bar is tucked away in a Decatur strip mall where guests can play pool and catch the latest sports games on the screen of their choice (there are more than 15 TVs here). Try a Cajun platter — crawfish, catfish, and alligator are popular — or Cajun classics like Jambalaya, gumbo, or red beans and rice. There are more than 20 po’boys on the menu (that’s what the restaurant is named for, after all), and each comes traditionally dressed with lettuce, tomato, mayo, and a pickle. Musts include the Muffuletta and the Half and Half (fried shrimp and fried oysters with spicy remoulade). The kitchen and Basement Bar close at 2 a.m. nightly." - Eater Staff
"As the name states, it’s all about the classic Louisiana po’boy at this sandwich shop in Decatur. Try the the shrimp po’boy topped with spicy remoulade or turn up the heat with Crystal hot sauce and blue cheese or ranch dressing. For a taste of New Orleans, order the muffaletta po’boy with traditional olive salad." - Eater Staff
"This is the spot for folks seeking real-deal po’boys and other Cajun fare in Atlanta while taking in some sports on the TVs. Those wanting bread pudding should definitely order the dessert here. It comes with a bourbon glaze and is listed on the menu as “crazy good” — and by all accounts, regulars agree with that description." - Sarra Sedghi
