"Nathaniel Colby’s Davy Jones’ Locker showcases Great Jones Empire Rye in a creative twist that highlights environmental concerns. This cocktail blends green crab curry–infused Great Jones Rye with oyster vermouth and Italian amaro, creating a smoky, umami-filled flavor experience. Inspired by the invasive green crab species that threaten local ecosystems and fisheries, Colby has collaborated with chef David Standridge to find culinary uses for these crabs and raise awareness through this thoughtfully crafted drink. “The green crab curry oil adds umami and spice to the rye, providing a hint of cooked crab-bake flavor without overpowering it,” Colby explains." - Julia Gómez Kramer
