The Three Horseshoes Batcombe

Went there with the family, my husband and myself to celebrate our joint 65th birthday. Went for lunch. It was a lovely surprise. The food was lovely. We had lamb, leek and dulse pie with dripping chips between the four of us, someone else had calves liver and someone else a vegetarian meal. Drinks were great. At the end of the meal, the staff came out with a 65th birthday cake. The cake was bought in by a family member. What was left of the cake we left for the staff. The staff were very attentive and asked if everything was OK throughout the meal. The pub was full. The chef is a Michelin chef who has a restaurant in London. Would recommend.

We visited the restaurant at the Three Horseshoes and had a wonderful time! We went to celebrate my parents' joint 65th birthday and the team were incredibly accomodating! They found us the perfect dog-friendly spot and accommodated us bringing a celebratory cake, bringing it out at the perfect time. The team, including Mia, were all fantastic! Delicious food, an intimate quiet ans low-lit atmosphere, and a very well selected drinks menu. Well done all for providing such a memorable and wonderful experience!

We have been to the Three Horseshoes on a few occasions before the renovation and always enjoyed our visit, so we were excited to try it. Went for Sunday Lunch, £26 for belly pork with no sides is pretty steep. £3.50 for the roast potatoes and £6 for some greens! Which makes the lunch very expensive. The Quince alioli that should have been on the plate was missing so I had to ask for that. Ordered a drink that took more than 30 minutes to arrive. The restaurant was full with guests and their dogs, which is fine as the dogs were well behaved but we were in the restaurant so I dont think dogs should be allowed. There was also a very loud table, not aware of their volume making it very difficult for us to enjoy our very expensive lunch. The lad serving us all was doing his best but unfortunately it's not somewhere we would go back.

The plaudits for The Three Horseshoes are flowing in right now... a Top 5 gastropub in the UK, Timeout naming it a Top 10 restaurant in the country. We were extremely excited to try it. And it didn't disappoint. The standout dish, the venison gnocchi starter, was nothing short of sensational. The basque cheesecake was baked perfectly. And the sticky toffee pudding was a brilliant example of Britain's favourite dessert. Our mains - the venison pie and the halibut - we're slightly less remarkable. The former was extremely rich, making it a challenge to enjoy from first to last bite. The latter was tasty but a little tough. But no matter - the atmosphere is a delight, the team are lovely (and we're particularly kind to our dog) and the food really is excellent (if a tiny bit inconsistent for us). Wonderful place to stop for a fantastic meal.

Gastro pub restaurant. Great decor service and atmosphere appealing to weekenders in the area. Food is very good, but all prices are top end which impacts value for money. 12/25 its £200 for two for a 3 course Sunday lunch Inc drinks

Had a very nice meal although one of our party thought theirs average and overpriced. Nice pub and very busy on Saturday night. Would go again to try their pies.

When a bill for 5 people is £350, the food has to be good. The pie, £25 a piece, was like something from Greggs. Not a terrible meal, but possibly the most overpriced I have ever eaten.

Just back from a disappointing time a 3 horseshoes. Nice place nice people but poor service and basic overpriced food. Waited 40 mins for starters . We were brought complimentary bread and olives. Then wrong main course arrived one of which was cold. Basic venison and potatoes with gravy for £29 .no veg or anything. We ordered dripping chips they didn’t arrive . Told the waitress when she arrived not to bother . She said it would be removed from bill. Bill arrived with a 12.5 % service charge and later I noticed the chips at £6 still on the bill . Poor.
