My server was great! Attended to every need. Lobster grilled cheese and bread pudding were fantastic. In an out on my lunch break, just like I needed. Will be back.

Google
I had an amazing brunch experience here with my wife! The service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was so tranquil—it made for a perfect start to the day. The chicken was cooked to perfection, the biscuits were the best I’ve ever had, and the gravy was excellent. On top of that, the staff truly shined, making the experience even better. I would absolutely recommend this place to friends and family!

Google
Lovely decor and seating - just needs more work on the menu. We came for lunch and ordered a few different items that would have benefitted from any kind of seasoning at all. The mashed potatoes and cheesecake were the only good items, in my opinion. The staff is very friendly, though, which is always appreciated. There are accessible parking spaces, and the restroom and dining area are wheelchair friendly.

Visited for Father's Day brunch. The food was amazing and the service was great as always. This place never disappoints for brunch. They have healthy options if you are needing to be a little healthy. I had the breakfast boost bowl and it tasted amazing. This location also has great parking.

Google
Oh my goodness. Union Kitchen is an absolute MUST when you are in Houston! The place is phenomenal. The food is amazing. Those NOLA Voodoo Meatballs are. EVERYTHING! The atmosphere is just right, family meet-up, drinks with friends, date night, or solo dining, You definitely won't leave hungry! The staff and service were so good that I joked with friends that they must have thought I was a food critic.🤣 My server was Kristal, and when I was indecisive about a cocktail with bourbon in it, she spoke with Wes, the bartender. He came to my table personally to ask questions, explain various bourbons they had, and made one special based on what I told him. Shout out to Ralph, the manager, as well!!! Whatever you're doing with your team, keep it up! I make it a point now to pull up whenever I'm in town from Dallas.

Google
I had an incredible dining experience at this restaurant! The quality of service was exceptional, making me feel truly valued as a customer. The flavors of the dishes I tried were simply outstanding, each bite bursting with a delightful mix of tastes that left me craving more. Beyond the palate, the presentation of the food was a feast for the eyes – a true work of art on each plate. This place effortlessly combines quality service, great flavors, and an aesthetic appeal that makes it a must-visit for anyone seeking an amazing culinary journey.

Google
Not the first & definitely won’t be the last time I visit The Union Kitchen. I’ve tried a wide variety of their menu items & the taste is pretty good! The drinks are good & strong (if you like that kinda thing) I could’ve used a little more flavored syrup, but, they were good nonetheless! The servers are nice & efficient. I got the million dollar deviled eggs for my appetizer (wouldn’t recommend, they had no flavor at all), the blueberi lemon drop w/salt, again, strong but when you say blueberry, I NEED blueberry 😂. For my entree I got the S.O.S (shrimp on a shingle). Great flavor (Thai inspired 🩷), however, the 2 pieces of brioche bread atop the shrimp could’ve been left off. Overall experience 9.2/10 Food 7.8/10

Google
We were at the Ella location and bartender Drew was great. Suggested an apple sauce shot that we had never heard of and it was amazing. They were very accommodating and put the Astros game on at the bar. Food was amazing and I highly recommend the crab tower. Lorena and Drew had great team work at the bar. They were very accommodating to my diet as well. Hope they have lemonade on our next visit!

Yelp
A new favorite! The food is beyond compare! Best of everything! Spinach dip is outstanding! Crab cakes excellent, but more like a pancake - not a thick patty with large crab pieces. Salmon was fabulous, the chicken kabobs were tender, chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes, fish and chips all outstanding. There must be a real chef in the kitchen We like to sit at the bar because we meet interesting people. Oh and Jack and Wes are the best bartenders. Entertaining and pure perfection! Run to this place!

Yelp
By the time we arrived at 7:30 on a Tuesday, I was famished. The food came quickly and the beef was cooked to perfection - in other words, medium rare. That's worth mentioning because medallions are small and could be easily over cooked. Mine were perfect & so were the vegetables.

Yelp
Decided to give it another try and we're so glad we did! We dined here for brunch today (Saturday). They have an extensive brunch and drink menu. My husband's expresso was nutty with sweet tones -- delicious! Eggs and biscuit were fluffy and tasty -- everything was cooked to perfection. Can't wait to return :)

Yelp
First time eating at this restaurant, the place was not too busy, came for breakfast. The restaurant is casual and the service is great ! Food came out on time - ordered appetizers deviled eggs with a piece of crispy bacon - also ordered mushrooms that were creamy and delicious. I enjoyed this restaurant and recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
Fabulous food! Presentation and depth of food is so amazing! We would put them up against the top kitchens in New Orleans!!

Yelp
I hate to give such a low rating, but we did not have a good experience. We wanted to go somewhere to celebrate getting power back from Hurricane Beryl and decided to give Union Kitchen a try "for a change." Not sure what was going on, but their AC was not working during our visit, our server was hard to flag down and find many times, our bill was wrong, and for some reason we were directed to order for kids first before we could order our adult meals (not sure why????). Above all, the food was only okay for the price-point. Our mid-week "quick" local dinner lasted for 2 hours because we were in a constant state of waiting. PRO-PARENT TIPS: 1) The cheese pizza on the kids' menu was a bit spicy for my kiddo. 2) The chicken tenders and fries earned them a * 3) The fish in the fish and chips (regular menu) was was over-battered. Hardly any fish in it. 4) Refills on kids' drinks are $0.99 (!!!!).

Yelp
I had picked up food to go before but this time I ate inside. It's really spacious and nice on the inside. They have a wonderful Happy hour for bites and drinks. $2.50 drafts and $3 bottles and cans. Also many great food items on the Happy Hour menu. My tab was only $50 bucks for 4 drinks and five different appetizers. This is a great spot for happy hour. They also have lots of wine selections and my favorite Caymus! The bar is really nice as well to sit and have drinks and bites. I don't know why but it reminds me of a fancy airport bar and that's always a good vibe sitting an airport bar haha. Bathrooms are nice and clean and there is ample parking as well.

Yelp
What a delightful Taylor Swift themed brunch and the perfect weekend for it! Fun decor and decorations. A bracelet making station. Staff wearing kitten ears. Tay-Tay music playing nonstop. The food was very creative and I absolutely loved my Brie Our Never Getting Back Together sandwich! My side of bacon was the perfect accompaniment to it. I drizzled syrup over it and chef's kiss*, it was perfection. The Lover cocktail was also so good and I tasted a sip of my friend's Whitehorse cocktail, it was delicious as well. Great job Union Kitchen! My friend and I enjoyed your food and the fun theme.

Yelp
The manager was great (I assume based on his attire and demeanor). Brought us a dessert since our drinks took so long to arrive. My drink was good. My husband said the horchata brew was okay. The Bloody Mary had to be returned because it was not okay. The churro donuts were surprisingly tasty. My crab cakes were okay. The free beignets we received were delicious. Honestly seems fancy inside, although it's casual. I feel like it's a bit hit or miss. I would go again for the sweets

Yelp
Never have I ever, had a bad experience at Union Kitchen. This location happens to be my favorite. The place is gem. I've never had to wait and this Sunday was the same, we came around 1 and were seated immediately near the bar, the Texans were on. I ordered the Classic Paper Plane, not pictured, it was whiskey-ey and beautiful. Very girly sipping drink, if you're a fan of old fashions and wanna try something new, give it a try! Today I was feeling light and ordered the Ahi Tuna Tostada from the sharebles side of the menu and I was not disappointed. The crunchy wontons, sweet and spicy sauce, sliced fresh jalapeños for some subtle heat, were the perfect bed for the tuna. Kinda messy to eat but definitely worth it!

Yelp
I stopped by for a quick dinner on my way home from a late training session and was pleasantly surprised by my experience. My server, Ranjan, was exceptionally attentive and ensured I had a great dining experience. I ordered the New York Strip Steak with Garlic Mashed Potatoes. The steak was cooked to near perfection at medium-rare and wasn't overpowered by seasoning, allowing the natural flavors to shine through. I forgot to ask for pink Himalayan sea salt, which I believe enhances the taste of steaks, that was my oversight. The Garlic Mashed Potatoes, while tasty, could have benefitted from a creamy gravy. For dessert, I had the Cinnamon Bread Pudding served with a scoop of ice cream, which was delicious. Next time, I'll request an extra scoop of ice cream, as one scoop wasn't quite enough to accompany every bite of the generous portion of bread pudding. This dessert is big enough to share, but perfect for someone with a hearty appetite like mine after a long day not eating. My visit lasted about 35 minutes, thanks to Ranjan's outstanding service. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience, and I look forward to returning.

Yelp
Great service from the servers!! They are so kind. We had two kids with us and they were incredibly patient and sweet. Plus kids eat free all summer and menu is fantastic!

Yelp
I've been to various locations of Union Kitchen and while I usually enjoy it, the people that I bring don't always agree and I understand why. At this particular location, the service was decent. I feel like it was hard to get in touch with out waiter, however we were checked on by the manager which was greatly appreciated! I will also say while I did enjoy my meal for the most part, everything seemed lukewarm. Particularly the muffins, they did not seem as fresh as I've had them at other restaurants but it was tolerable. I would really give my experience a 3.5 but I'm rounding up to 4 because again it wasn't terrible for me but my guest were not as satisfied.

Yelp
I hate that this one-star experience happened, but unfortunately, we sat at our booth for nearly 40 minutes - with not even a drink order taken - before we left. At 12:06pm my sis texts me: "We are in the booth on the right." Shortly after, I arrive. At 12:45, we left (and headed to Millie's down the street). And not a single staff member acknowledged our exit. The irony is when we got in the car, we saw through the window that our sad waters were quickly bussed. It's almost comical - and unfortunate, because my niece so badly wanted their beignets and chicken and waffles. I'm sharing this not to deter anyone from going there. Union Kitchen has some nice brunch options. But hopefully they'll take this feedback and implement changes to not seat patrons if they don't have servers (and I'm aware there are staffing issues). The manager that day was running food, but not assisting with orders. And we weren't the only ones looking around for our server... Hope they can address this or get some sort of front of house digital seating system to streamline things.

Yelp
I've been to the Washington location several times for their brunch but this was my first time going for their lunch and dinner menu. Food was great. The manager came over several times to check in on us to ask how we were doing and the vibe on the inside was nice. The outside doesn't really do this place any justice. I went back to get the voo doo balls but they are no longer on the menu. That is pretty disappointing
google avatar

Yelp
This was my first time visiting this establishment. They were having a special breakfast for teachers for back to school. The staff was absolutely wonderful and the food was outstanding! Will definitely come back.

Andrea V.

Yelp
Our first time eating here and we will definitely be back. Everyone was super friendly, from the host to the manager. Our waiter Ranjan was excellent. The food was delicious.

Yelp
It doesn't look great from the outside but it's really nice inside. We sat at the bar and the bartender, Wes, was really funny and gave us great service. The food was excellent. The bang band shrimp and carnitas egg rolls were great. I usually don't like fried calamari, but my buddy ordered it and I tried it and this was some of the best I've ever had. I highly recommend the calamari and the shrimp! My fiancé ordered a pizza and it looked so good that I decided to order one too. I'm very picky about pizza. I dislike most pizza in Houston, but this pizza is done right! Thin and crispy and perfect balance of cheese and toppings. I will definitely be going back to try some of the other items. Overall, the whole experience far exceeded my expectations. Thank you Union Kitchen!
google avatar

Anne M.

Yelp
Kurtis was so helpful and the egg rolls are legit amazing just like he said! We really enjoyed this place and the food. It could use some updating inside but that's also kinda part of the charm.
google avatar

Josiah M.

Yelp
This is definitely a good spot to go for a quick brunch with family and friends! Very nice interior with both natural and electronic lighting. Our server Ranjan was super quick, super cool and very easily handled 9 customers (7 adults and 2 children). The food......was definitely it. I got the Brioche Breakfast Sandwich with the breakfast potatoes. Look guys. Every element of that breakfast sandwich was IT. Eggs cooked perfectly, bacon crispy, the aioli sauce did its thing. I replaced the grilled tomato with a hash brown) that I felt was a tad bit thick. My lady got the Union Breakfast, kept it simple. Her response verbatim was "damn, this breakfast is extremely good!". I only got a chance to try her biscuit and Jesus Christ it was amazing (and when I ate it, it wasn't warm anymore!) My daughter (15 months) had the kids pancakes, which she devoured before I got the chance to take a photo haha! The manager Ralph came to check on us and I really liked that! Hospitality is across the board in this place and the food was amazing. If you're looking for a nice brunch/lunch with a nice environment and sublime service, this is the spot to go to!!!
google avatar

Robert L.

Yelp
Really good service for our group of 5.... and the food was excellent! We'll be back!

Yelp
Plenty of free parking, good prices, good food, good service. It has been a quiet place the several times we have been there.
google avatar

Yelp
A friend and I met here for lunch. Welcoming, open seating. Full menu for lunch at noon. Staff were friendly. Food was prepared quickly and was delicious. Ahi tuna sandwich and chicken breast sandwich were both tasty. If you're looking for a casual lunch place in this area- I definitely recommend.

Yelp
Started the morning with a carafe of mimosas with pineapple and orange juice. Appetizers were 10/10. Ribeyes special was 6/10. Ordered the steak medium rare and it was more on the well side. I do not like to complain about my food and would never send it back. Just eat it! Very thin steak but I guess that's to be expected with a morning breakfast steak. Poached eggs were great. Breakfast potatoes needed seasoning (in my opinion). Those biscuits though. 10/10. Get them with a side a gravy and it's a match made in Heaven! Our server was new and super friendly. Even the manager came by to check on us. Great service all around!

Andy C.

Yelp
Went to eat to this place and they have employees sleeping on the job so unprofessional don't recommend this place Besides some of the staff were rude......

Marissa L.

Yelp
Food doesn't match the website photos. Ordered waffles and they came with no fruit I was given a fruit cup on the side after asking which was so dry and did not look good. When the photos online show fresh bananas and strawberries. Just overall very disappointing
google avatar

Melissa S.

Yelp
The BEST Fish and Chips in the Greater Heights area! And they have Malt Vinegar which "other" fish and chips restaurants don't have. The coleslaw was a new take for me, not the mayo kind but really good with Centro. Super friendly staff and environment at the bar. I will be back for my FNC fix!!!

Chip G.

Yelp
The staff is only slightly less accommodating than their expansive menu filled with crowd pleasers. Ask and you shall receive something great here!
google avatar

De H.

Yelp
Garden omelette was over cooked! As if they used some type of egg cooker or it was rewarded Sundried tomatoes tasted old .. this not the selection..this was supposed to be the Black Friday special.. the $14.95 mimosas was the only reason for staying a bottle of champagne and 2juice ..
google avatar

Yelp
Oh boy, where do I even begin with Union Kitchen? It's like they decided to serve food with a side of frustration. I mean, sure, the food might have been tasty enough to make your taste buds do the cha-cha, but the service? It was like they hired sloths on a coffee break to take your orders. I walked in and immediately thought I'd entered a time warp where snail mail was the preferred mode of communication. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and waited so long that I had time to write a novel on the napkin provided. When my food finally arrived, I swear I saw a snail hitching a ride on the plate, probably their new mascot. If you're looking for a place to enjoy delicious food while contemplating life's mysteries, like how many tortoises it takes to beat Union Kitchen's service speed, then this is the spot for you. Just remember to bring your patience, a good book, and possibly a pet to keep you company. Would I ever go back? Eh... possibly, especially since I had their breakfast this time. My fat ass wants to have dinner here so come back for part 2 of my review!
google avatar

Erica M.

Yelp
On the plus side, the menu at this restaurant *looked* amazing. But we never actually got any of it, because our incredibly greasy haired waiter took 5 minutes to seat us, 15 minutes to take a drink order, and another 15 minutes to bring us a chunky, bad tasting Bloody Mary & a cold cup of coffee. Then, instead of taking our food order, this guy walks away & does not come back for 10+ minutes. Our entertainment during this interlude was a gaggle of screaming babies at the next table. We finally decided to abandon ship and took off to find food before we are our own hands.

Yelp
I went here for Sunday brunch. It is a clean and spacious restaurant. Plenty of parking. It was 7 of us and we did not have to wait long at all to be seated. I ordered the churro donuts and they were just ok. My main course was the Pete's Colorado omelette. It was pretty good, but need a little more flavor/seasoning. The waitress was nice but did not seem to know the menu and did not check on us much.
google avatar

Sheila G.

Yelp
The pizza was horrible. It wasn't freshly made. It came out of a box. The atmosphere was beautiful. The waitress was beautiful but the food it's not good it's frozen spinach tipples give it butter five the pizza I'm sorry that's about a three My frozen pizza is a lot better than that.

Yelp
This was our first time going to this location. We went during happy hour and there wasn't many customers at the time. The place is very nice inside and out. We were greeted well and seated quickly. Our waitress, Amanda, however; did not provide the best service. She took our order and then she disappeared on us. We'd see her in the restaurant but she did not return to check on us as one would expect. We even had to inquire with Lorena about our cocktail drink as it never arrived. Lorena was the bus lady and she waited on us more than Amanda and did a great job. Kudos to Lorena! Amanda needs customer service training. We ordered lobster popstickers, crab tower, and shrimp scampi and it was all very good. The presentation was fancy and the food was tasty. It did take an exceptionally long time for the shrimp scampi to arrive though. Other than the bad service from Amanda, everything else was very good. I will reiterate we went during happy hour and took advantage of the happy hour menu; otherwise, the prices would have been too high.

Yelp
Sunday brunch was amazing! Very clean and welcoming atmosphere! Our reservation time was honored. The food was FIRE! We ordered several entrees and shared. Everything was well seasoned, hot and served in a timely manner. The bartender, hostess, server and busser were all very professional and lively. Manager, Mr. Jones, was attentive and checked on us frequently. If you're in Houston this location is a must visit.

Graciela L.

Yelp
My first time at TUK (The Union Kitchen) Food was delicious. I had the street corn (appetizer) hint of spice and tasty! (Entree) was the Philly cheesesteak; beef had exceptional flavor, roll was moderately sized, but my favorite were the grilled to perfection onions and bell peppers. (Dessert?) The MUST TRY beignets. Wow!!! Leslie was our server during the lunch hour and I was completely impressed by everyone's attentiveness to our needs. Great place for business lunch or DATE NIGHT.
google avatar

Delbert H.

Yelp
Went to the Union Kitchen for brunch on Sunday, August 25. My fiancé got the Lobster Omelette and I had Shrimp on a Shingle. The lobster was over cooked and chewy as were the eggs. Why would you put smoked Gouda and a chipotle aioli in an omelette with lobster? It didn't work; and eventually sent it back. The shrimp dish that I had was equally confusing and lacked texture. Everything was soft and one note. I think the toast was an effort to add some "crunch " but when it is covered with a sauce and thrown in with rice it just becomes another soft mushy substance to a rather boring dish. My biggest disappointment was the Old Fashion. It takes work to ruin Makers Mark bourbon but they managed to. Adding two competing bitters and soggy bacon to the bourbon should be illegal. And no macerated Cherry to boot. The service was decent and the parking was good. The ambiance was nothing special. We should have sat in the bar area. Won't be going back.
google avatar

Sylvia S.

Yelp
We had my brother in from San Antonio and we absolutely loved it. The service was great. He ordered the pork steaks. Amazing!!

Mark G.

Yelp
we visited the union kitchen for the specific purpose of trying the ken hoffman fish sandwich. what a great sandwich! our only disappointment was to learn that it is being discontinued. please don't do that! instead, consider making it a "weekly special" - - like a "friday fish special!". it's just too good to discontinue!
google avatar

Huyen C.

Yelp
Love a good brunch. This location is quiet and has decent parking. They take reservations, and we went on a Saturday @ 12. We ordered chicken fried steak & biscuits & gravy. The biscuits are good but I do wish they had a bit more gravy on it. The chicken steak plate was huge! You can get two eggs (however you like it cooked) with potatoes, and biscuits. The chicken was good & coated heavily cause the skin was crunchy. The mimosas are good and each of us (3 people) got about 2.5 glasses eat. They give you a bottle of champagne with two choices of juice (cranberry, orange, grapefruit or pineapple). Not too bad. Service was good & friendly! Would recommend.

Yelp
The environment is nice but the price for food is not worth it. I usually frequent a place twice but I haven't been back yet.

Yelp
I took my daughter here for brunch, and we were really disappointed. Although we had a reservation, we were not seated right away, and it seemed as though the hostess was unhappy and confused. When we were seated, we were given one of the least desirable tables. Restaurants get busy, so whatever. We decided to overlook that, and just enjoy our brunch together. We ordered a blackberry basil paloma (for me), biegnets, California Benedict with no bacon, and the garden vegetable omelet. The drink was fine - not good enough to order it again, but good enough to drink. The biegnets were the best thing we ordered. They were not the same as Cafe Du Monde biegnets, a little flatter and the dough was different, but they were good. Because they had limited options for vegetarians, my daughter ordered the California Benedict without bacon. They put bacon on it anyway. My omelet was okay, but the potatoes were the best part of my entree. The service was well below average. Our server wasn't openly rude, but it was clear that our table was her lowest priority. It wasn't our server who brought they food out, so maybe that person didn't know the order was wrong. Even so, the server assigned to our table should have checked to see if our food was okay. She was busy, but chose to spend the majority of her time with other guests. By the time we got her attention about the food, it was almost thirty minutes later, and I had already given my daughter half of my entree. Our brunch was a bust by that time. We were both really disappointed as this was a special occasion for us. I would not recommend this restaurant for vegetarians. Most of the patrons that day were age 70+. Maybe this place just appeals to a different demographic.

Yelp
Union was very calm the night we ventured in. The customer service was nice, everyone was inviting and welcoming. It was our first time and so they provided recommendations that hit the spot. I'd definitely go back for a meal or two!

Azalea R.

Yelp
To preface, I've never left a yelp review and I didn't think it was going to happen today, and we are used to getting lackluster service because we have a larger family. I made reservation for my uncles birthday party two week ago. Upon arriving, we were seated promptly. We waited 60 full minutes for the food to hit the table, once it did every single dish was lukewarm, with a plate slightly warmer than the meal. Dead giveaway that all the food was sitting under a heat lamp for far too long. We informed the food runners and the server that our food was cold, their best solution was to throw it in the microwave and nuke it. All my uncle wanted was some good biscuits n gravy, and good company. I'm glad he at least had our company. I'm sure the a manager working caught wind of this and sent us out some 'complimentary' desserts... Except the server CHARGED ME for these desserts, when I came back to get him to fix it, I had to wait another near 10 minutes for a manager to take care of the matter. TLDR: Extremely long wait time for our food for it to all come out cold. Server didn't care and sent it back to be nuked. The manager never came by to address the situation. The server charged me for the complimentary desserts, and the manager never attempted to make it right. Money gone, but most importantly, 2 hours of everyone's lives for mediocre grub. $250 for an experience where my uncle didn't even get a decent biscuits and gravy. Disappointed is an understatement.

Yelp
Brunch was so good and service was spot on! My mom had the fajita omelet and my daughter had rhe chicken and waffles. She is super picky and never eats gravy. She devoured it! Definitely going back

Yelp
The experience was fantastic. Everyone from the hostess to the manager, Ralph, were so very kind and amazing. I definately will be back for breakfast on the weekends

Yelp
It was Father's Day and I really wanted to try something new for my husband and I that was not crowded. Boy was I wrong. I searched and found The Union Kitchen on Ella Boulevard. It was packed but thankfully we had reservations and were seated immediately. Table was decorated with white linen and silverware was in black linen napkin. Very nice touch we thought. Hubby chose the 3 Egg Benedict from Brunch menu, I chose chicken and waffles and we also had beignets for our appetizer. Food choices we all good no complaints. I will warn you though to try on a day maybe that is not special occasion or less busy. The waitress we had was not the best. She was unavailable for whatever reason. No coffee refill, no follow up once the order arrived. What made me give it 4 stars was one of the managers Ralph saved the day. He came around to our table and introduced himself and asked how we heard about them and we said we googled some place to go that was new. He ended with responding by giving us a free appetizer on our next visit. We will definitely go back. We want to see if the service will be better on a less crowded time of the day. Plus we both are graduates of Waltrip High School which is located right across the street so it was a bit of nostalgia for us.
