ThisBowl - Review - Nomad - New York - The Infatuation

"The bowls at ThisBowl in Nomad are exactly as advertised. You’ll never order the miso salmon bowl and feel like they’ve skimped on the salmon and you’ve been overcharged. (We’re looking at you, Sweetgreen.) The Australian import, with an original NYC location in Noho, is redefining the sad desk lunch, and their bowls, all around $16, are actually really good. Think sushi rice with chili chicken or salmon sashimi, plus enough crunchy vegetables to make you feel like you are doing something really good for your gut. Because of its Nomad address, the crowd leans office-lunch-break, but there’s always at least one person in athleisure, possibly with a small white dog in a stroller. photo credit: Willa Moore photo credit: Willa Moore photo credit: Willa Moore Pause Unmute Food Rundown The O.G. You can build your own bowl, but we don’t recommend it. The folks at ThisBowl have created a line-up of perfectly proportioned bowls. Our favorite is the O.G. with salmon sashimi, a base of sushi rice, and a laundry list of ingredients including seaweed salad, avocado, kale, and roasted sesame dressing. We also like the miso salmon bowl with tamari ponzu sauce." - Willa Moore

NYC New Restaurant Openings: May 2025 | Eater NY

"A salad-bowl concept that opened its second Manhattan location, serving bowls of proteins, vegetables, greens, and more; a spinoff of Australian salad chain FishBowl." - Emma Orlow

East Village Building Is for Sale But Johns of 12th Street Is Staying | Eater NY

"An Australian-born bowl concept (called FishBowl in Australia) that arrived in New York last spring to much fanfare and steady lines, styled “like a chrome fashion boutique” and self-described as the kind of chain bowl spot “you could take a date.” The brand — which has more than a dozen locations across Australia — is opening a second Manhattan outpost this spring at 230 Fifth Avenue, at Broadway, in Nomad. Menu prices for salad bowls can near the $20 mark; the New York Times wrote that the shredded cabbage and poached chicken with miso dressing “actually may surprise and delight you.”" - Emma Orlow

Stopped by for lunch since it was semi empty and this place did not disappoint !! I highly recommend. I ordered Chili chicken with sushi rice as the base and added avocado. Perfection in every bite. Jammed packed with flavors and did not leave me feeling overly full like other places that serve bowls. I think the portion size is perfect. The service is great too. When your order is ready they call you by your ticket number and show you the bowl. It’s clean, neat and very organized. Disclaimer, the lines could be pretty long but worth the wait.

I was actually so excited to finally try this place and it did not disappoint! It was kind of a gradual satisfaction for me I feel like. I got the braised beef bowl and thought the beef was very tender and I particularly loved the umami nut crunch in this bowl because it had a really cool tang to it. At first I thought this bowl was just good but the more I ate it the more I was enthralled in it, and it was a pretty good portion as well. Although I do think it could've used a bit more rice. As for the place itself, I thought the vibe was actually pretty cool. Loved the graphic design and typography of everything, they were playing very great music, and there was a line but it moved pretty quickly.

The yummiest bowl I’ve ever had 🍲✨ The staff were super friendly — they even gave us a salmon on the house since it was our first time! Totally worth every penny 💛

Lucky that ThisBowl is right by my office in NYC, because it’s an amazing lunch spot. It did take a bit longer for our bowls to be prepared than I expected, but nonetheless, I really enjoyed my bowl!

Always amazing. I come here often, as much as I could. You could see the top notch ingredients as they prepare the food. Premium olive oil, fresh vegetables, if you want something healthy, don’t see how you can be much healthier than this. They cook in good oil, use various health foods (sweet potato, beets, broccoli). Not to mention, it’s delicious. It’s not that cheap, but it’s amazing how it’s priced the way it is given the extremely high-quality ingredients used. If you care about feeling good and your health, it’s a no-brainer to exclusively eat here if you’re looking for something quick.

We ordered 2 different bowls which were amazing and delicious! So fresh and yummy. Best part was the staff- the most kindest and welcoming we’ve ever encountered. We had an amazing experience, this place is super recommended and for sure will come back again:)

Google
I got the braised beef bowl and it was so incredibly salty. The flavor profile is definitely more complex and unique than most bowl places but it was way too salty. $18 a bowl is esp questionable. If I come back I would try maybe one other bowl—maybe it was just this beef bowl that was off
