"This family pizza business traveled from Detroit to Mount Pleasant to bring locals the deep-dish style baked in blue steel pans. If you’re feeling extra indulgent, try one of the pies featuring “brick cheese” from Wisconsin. Favorites include the BLT (with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayo) or the Buffalo chicken pizza with blue cheese crumbles." - Denise K. James, Erin Perkins

I've been trying to get by here for some time now, and the opportunity finally came up. And, wow, was it good! This is easily one of the best pizzas I've ever had. I ordered mine well done, and I really enjoyed the crunch of the crust. The whole experience was fantastic.

Google
I've had tons of pizza down south and I was just gonna give up looking for a good one. This place was awesome. Great Detroit style Pizza. Best southern pizza I've ever had. And if you like Detroit AWESOME pics inside. LOVE THIS PLACE, GO LIONS

Google
We love Tony's Detroit style pizza!! The thick, crispy crust and delicious ingredients make it so good. We usually order the super pizza, which we love. But tonight, we had the Detroiter. Wow, wonderful pepperoni, shaved parmesan, and spicy herb blend on top of the crust. Also, we wanted to mention the wonderfully friendly service by Joshua. He is so cheerful and engaging. It really makes it an enjoyable experience. Great food and service in Mt. Pleasant!

The quality of the pizza here was really good. It’s funny I say this, but I actually found the crust to be almost as good as the actual center part of the pizza. The cheese that they use starts as a 40 pound block of cheese and they grind up two or three of those a day. This was my first for a Detroit style pizza and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. I got the cheese and the margarita pizza has two separate halves of a full-size pizza and I thought that was a great choice as a vegetarian.

Google
So far, pretty overrated IMO. I did takeout AND ate in-restaurant. The food tasted best when I reheated it in my oven. Large pepperoni both times. Basically the crust around the edges is great and crispy but throughout the middle it's chewy/soft. It doesn't travel well for this reason. If you don't throw it in the oven for a bit, you'll need to use your teeth to "tear off" bites. I gave two honest attempts and I wanted to love it. The taste simply didn't reflect the price.

Google
Amazing Detroit style pizza and wonderful atmosphere! Pizzas are just as good as or better than some of the Detroit style pizzas I grew up eating on the lower East side of Michigan. Really enjoyed all of the Michigan sports team and music memorabilia on the walls. Felt like home away from home! If you've never tried Detroit style pizza or grew up in Michigan and miss it, you must try Toni's.

Google
Visited today and it was so nostalgic for me! The pizza was delicious! The decorations and Detroit team’s paraphernalia was over the top exciting for me! & they have Faygo! 10/10 experience! Can’t wait to visit Charleston again so we can come back to Toni’s!! If you’re a Detroit/Michigan native or from up north then you’ll love the nostalgic feel you’ll get when you walk through Toni’s doors!

Recently, my son and I decided to check out Tony’s in Mount Pleasant SC, having heard some positive things and hoping to try something new beyond our usual pizza spots. The atmosphere at Tony’s was immediately appealing — the restaurant was clean, well-kept, and full of eye-catching car memorabilia lining the walls. It gave off a fun, nostalgic vibe that enhanced the dining experience. We started with the garlic cheese bread appetizer, which we shared while waiting for our pizza. Although we sometimes order several appetizers, we opted for just one this time since we were anticipating a hearty main course. We ordered a large Meat Deluxe pizza. Before I dive into taste and texture, let’s talk presentation. The pizza arrived at the table served on a round pan, but the pizza itself was rectangular — an odd mismatch that my son and I both noticed right away. What really surprised us, though, was the size. At $25, we expected a much larger and heartier pizza. Compared to our usual pizza spot on Highway 17 (which serves a thick, square Sicilian pan pizza), Tony’s version seemed to be missing a row — literally and figuratively. It just didn’t deliver the same volume. The pizza itself tasted pretty good, and I won’t take away from that. The flavors were solid, and it wasn’t a bad meal by any stretch. But it wasn’t a deep dish or pan-style pizza as we expected, and it lacked the thickness we typically enjoy. So, in the end, while the flavor hit the mark, the portion size and presentation didn’t quite live up to the price tag — making it a bit of a letdown. Service was solid — our server was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. No complaints there. Final thoughts: If you’re in Mount Pleasant and curious to try Tony’s, it’s worth a visit for the ambiance and flavor. But if you’re expecting a large, thick, Sicilian-style pizza for the price, you might walk away slightly disappointed — like we did. Never going back.

Yelp
Awesome pizza! Do yourself a favor and give it a try. Even you New Yorkers gotta admit it's tasty food even though it isn't the sad droopy grease-laden "slice" y'all are so proud of. Clean restaurant. Good staff. Highly recommend. I just wish they weren't closed Mon-Wed!

Todd F.

Yelp
Typically don't like deep dish pizza. Tried this place and both wife and I really liked it. Had plenty leftovers and will be visiting again. Nice atmosphere and decor.

Yelp
Every time I get a craving for Toni's it sticks in my head until I scratch that itch. All of their pizzas are great, but I often for the buffalo chicken with extra ranch for dipping. It also reheats perfectly in the air fryer and gets those edges extra crispy. Plus their antipasto salad is so filling and they don't skimp on any of the ingredients. If you need a little something extra... go for a side of meatballs. While I normally pick up a pizza to go, dining is a treat because the staff is so friendly and nice. They are a true family run place and it shows.

Tricia W.

Yelp
Went here at about 2:00 on a Sunday. We had a small Meat Deluxe pizza and a couple of cold Coast Kolsch beers. What a great experience. Our server was friendly and checked on us to make sure everything was ok. Pizza was great and the beers were cold. If you like Detroit style pizza, don't miss this place. Definitely worth a try.

Debby W.

Yelp
I love Toni's! The pizza is really good and the service better than most pizza places. Try the antipasto salad. It's a comfortable place and everyone is friendly. Highly recommend you try this little jewel out.

Anthony S.

Yelp
My family and I ate here for lunch. The employees were very friendly and polite. The service was fairly quick. While sitting at our table it appeared that this restaurant was very clean. The theme of this place is Detroit, all of the decorations are related to Detroit, pictures, sports, model cars, etc. For our food we ordered 2 small pizzas. My wife and daughter (almost 2 years old) shared the Margherita pizza and I had a sausage and pepperoni pizza. Anyone who does not know, a Detroit style pizza is a deep dish pizza. Let me just say the pizza was delicious. The pizza crust was just right and they did not disappoint with the amount of toppings that were on the pizzas. Let me also add that this is the third out of state (Detroit, Chicago, Pittsburg) themed place that I have eaten at in the low country, this is my favorite one (so far). We will definitely eat here again when in Mount Pleasant.

Patrick M.

Yelp
Best pizza I've had since moving down here from NYC. Tony's will be my go to place from now on

Christian C.

Yelp
Was too excited for this pizza so took a slice before snapping a pic. No frills, and very delicious. I got the Buffalo chicken with a side of blue cheese sauce - the pizza itself also came with blue cheese crumbles inside. The crust was amazing as well. The small is definitely enough if not more than enough for 1 person.

Kristine F.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and welcoming waitress. It wasn't very busy, so it was quiet. But I'm sure on a football day Sunday, this place is popping. The Greek salad was delicious and reasonably priced. I'm partial to a New York style pizza but every once in a while, you gotta have a Detroit style pizza. And when you do, this is the place to go.

C. Ray T.

Yelp
This was my first try of Detroit style pizza. While I'm a fan of all pizza styles, this is now my favorite. It was absolutely delicious. Service was attentive and friendly. He earned his tip plus some. Atmosphere was nice but not fancy. Just a clean strip-mall sort of small place. We don't eat pizza for atmosphere. Toni's will be a must visit when we're in Charleston from now on. A must try for sure. The small 4-square is plenty for two. Especially if you add a salad.

Laura S.

Yelp
Great casual family friendly pizza joint. I'm usually a thin crust, air filled bubble crust kinda girl but I saw this place's awesome Yelp reviews and the pizza fan in me had to try it. Walked in for an early dinner on a Thursday night at 4pm. Only one other table there. Seated right away. Waitress service. Booths, high tops and highchairs available. Kitschy Detroit decor (teams and bands from there). To get their authentic taste we went with the plain cheese pie. Looks heavier than it is. Thicker crust than I would normally have but that 's Detroit style. Perfect crispy-ness, great flavored sauce and cheese. I would absolutely be back. I never thought I'd ever like Detroit style ; now I'm eating my words (and my left over slice)

Tina S.

Yelp
I am always hesitant to try new places. However, I am so glad we did. This just made my new favorite pizza list. I am finicky about sauce and crust, and both were amazing here. It seems like a lot of pizza sauces have become sweet, which I don't like. This sauce is really flavorful and not sweet. The crust is completely cooked without being burnt. It was crispy and crunchy. It has an amazing flavor. I am normally not a crust person, but I could eat this crust by itself. The workers are super friendly. Great conversations were had. I love the high booths. We will definitely be back!!

Amy W.

Yelp
We ordered a large greek salad, and a 8x8 sausage/mushroom and a 12x12 bbq chicken detroit pizza. (For 4 people) there were leftovers. Both were very good, however the pizza maker on duty needs to take more care into equally distributing the toppings. There was practically no chicken on the 4 corner pieces. The cheese distro on both needed to be more even too. (Frustrating b/c I love the corner pieces the most, but they had less of the good stuff) I would happily go back.

Amy Lauren S.

Yelp
Toni's five-star reviews are spot on and well-deserved. Recently, I picked up lunch at Toni's for my husband and I on a Friday. I had an errand to run in Mt. Pleasant and remembered Toni's from the Yelp Elite event in 2019, plus my husband tried it at a friend's house. I ordered and paid from my phone, which was easy with the ToastTab app, and the app quoted a 25 minute wait time. My food was ready on time and my order was accurate. Ordering and picking up was the easy part, but the 30 minute drive home smelling that delicious pizza was hard! I ordered a 4-piece veggie and small Greek salad for us to share, as well as a side of meatballs for my omnivore husband. This was more than enough food for the two of us. It was delicious with toppings in every bite and crunchy, thick crust. A large pizza is 8 pieces, and I'm glad I went with a small. We would've had leftovers all weekend. However, I would order a large pizza to feed a family or take to a party. Salads come in three sizes, side, small, and large. I would suggest a side salad if you're sharing a pizza and a small if you want to eat ONLY salad. Personally, I could never come here for *just* salad, but it was one of the better Greek salads I've had and the only one I've seen with beets. It is a new menu item and was not listed on the print menu yet. I can't comment on the taste of the meatballs, but my husband enjoyed them. They were packaged and traveled well, as did the pizza and salad. I've never been to Detriot to know if the pizza is authentic or not- I just know I was satisfied. If have to refrigerate and reheat your pizza, I recommend reheating in an air fryer- the crust didn't get soggy or hard. I wish Toni's was closer, because I could be a regular here, but I'll recommend it to my Mt. Pleasant friends and definitely return when I'm in the area running errands or doing volunteer work.

Suzanne H.

Yelp
My second time here. We took my step son here during his visit. My husband and I were going to share a salad but the was so much in a large all three of us shared it. Their salads are very good. My step son got the Mediterranean and my husband and I shared a large the super pizza. Their pizza does not disappoint. So thick and cheesy. Cooked to perfection. Our waiter was attentive, personable, and nice to talk too. This is a must try!

Young K.

Yelp
I'm not the biggest pizza gal, but this place was very delicious! A big variety of pizza flavors were tried, and I gotta say each one of them were so different and tasty! The salads were a good fresh compliment to the greasy pizza. My favorite was the Mediterranean and Chorizo Southwest Pizza. I was full by my fourth piece of pizza. I also really appreciate that they serve Michigan Ginger Ale "Vernor". It is my favorite brand of ginger ale. If you like a heavy ginger tasting soda/pop, I highly recommend this one! Overall, 9.4 out of 10!

Anthony M.

Yelp
Very good Detroit-style pizza. Crust and cornice were just the right amount of charred. Sauce was spicy and definitely held up to the thick crust. I would go back!

Steve G.

Yelp
Service on point, owner is always there making sure all goes well. Great salad and of course Pizza is soo good!

Elizabeth R.

Yelp
I absolutely love Toni's! I've been here multiple times and the combination of the kind staff, unbeatably seasoned crust, and the chill environment keeps me coming back. I recently left my credit card here by accident and later realized, so called and they had it safe and sound! We have had Kole as our waiter every time and he has been so wonderful, kind, and attentive to our needs. He is always so personable and makes our experience great. I'd never had Detroit style pizza before and was a tad skeptical, but absolutely love it now. The pizza is such a good size and always comes out piping hot and just a true joy to eat! Also, the prices are so good for the size and quality of food. Definitely my new comfort food. I love the Detroiter Pizza specifically and can't wait to try other types. I would 110% recommend Toni's to anyone looking for a new pizza place. Go go go!

Stephan F.

Yelp
The best deep dish pizza in town! It's hard to find deep dish pizza if you're a fan. This is the place to go.

Krystal J.

Yelp
Taste of the pizza was a 3 everything else was a 5!! Staff was great, convenience , fresh and hot, all that great stuff. We ordered a personal cheese pizza well done and cheese bread. I guess Detroit style just isn't my thing , but I can definitely see why they are 5star rated! If you prefer Detroit style pizza then this is the spot.

Melissa P.

Yelp
Toni's NEVER disappoints. This is arguably the best pizza I've ever had. The crust is perfectly caramelized and the pizza dough is super soft and it just melts in your mouth. If pizza is your favorite food, you HAVE to come here. The service is awesome and everyone is very friendly. The environment is pleasant and it's just a low key place where you can grab some of the most amazing pizza you've ever tasted. Easy 10/10.

Annette W.

Yelp
Ordered delivery through DoorDash. Pizza arrived hot and crispy. Never had Detroit style pizza. Crust is similar to Pizza Hut pan pizza but tastier. I ordered with extra sauce. Sauce was a winner. I could taste the sauce, it wasn't overloaded with spices. Right amount of cheese with fresh mushrooms and onions. Didn't know I liked Detroit style pizza, now I do! Two Thumbs Up!

Daniella S.

Yelp
Pizza was very good and Joel was great. Ask for it extra well done. Cute atmosphere.

Haleida P.

Yelp
This is a great restaurant. I have driven in front of it for years, and I didn't know it existed until I noticed it in Yelp! Great salads, awesome square pizza, great atmosphere, great service. Really fun!

Shilpa Sachin M.

Yelp
Their Detroit style pizza was great. Their menu other menu options were also good. Highly recommend if you like this style or want a change.

Hannah S.

Yelp
Toni's is apparently one of the best pizza places in the state...or top 5 in the country or something...and I absolutely know why. The pizza is Detroit style and couldn't taste better. The crust is perfectly crunchy. I recommend the meatball pizza. The spot is smaller but does the job. It's located more central in Mt P for convenience, but make sure that you call or check Yelp for hours before you head that way. They do have a strange schedule but it's improved as COVID has died down. Honestly, just don't pass this place up!!

Lorenzo F.

Yelp
The pizza was great. Ordered on Uber eats and it was received still hot and fresh. 10/10

Marc J.

Yelp
Never been to Detroit, but shout out to Suzanne H. for letting Charleston Yelpers in on the deal. Aside from a great atmosphere and exceptional service, the pizza is to die for! So fully stuffed meats and veggies, layers of cheese and a buttery deep dish crispy edged crust. It is a must try, I chose the works but the menu is available online at tonisdetroitpozza.com

Mike P.

Yelp
Searched for pizza in Charleston with the most stars and Toni's was the clear winner. The Detroit style was new to me despite growing up in the motor city until 1973. Maybe motor city pizza became a thing after I left town. Wife and I went for the margarita pie 4 square size. Just perfect for the two of us. The thick chewy crust was perfect. I'd go for it again if I'm ever back in town.

Pete A.

Yelp
Toni's Detroit Pizza is the BEST pizza in Charleston SC. From the ingredients to the quality to the service there is none any better in Charleston/Mt. Pleasant area!! When the owner, Toni, introduces herself & makes sure everything is right, you know it's got to be great

E.G. R.

Yelp
Excellent antipasto salad. Been back for it several times. Have only had deliveries, so I can't comment on service or ambiance.

Ben G.

Yelp
Great food, great service. As close to home as I've been able to find out here, even down to the antipasto salad and the ranch for dipping.

Colin A.

Yelp
I tried to eat here 3 separate times and every time I was told they were closed for the day or something like that, I used to love to eat there but since they have such terrible hours it really doesn't make any sense to dine here, you cannot run a business and have it open for a few days a week, I hope this place can understand how normal businesses are run, my advice is to call and make sure they're open before you show up, don't waste you're time like I did, I will not be back to this restaurant

Michelle J.

Yelp
By recommendation from our hotel we went to Tony-s. Service was great but the salad and pizza were hands down the best. Highly recommend.

Andrea P.

Yelp
The pizza from here is usually pretty good. However the last two times I've ordered delivery the toppings have been very skimpy. This most recent time I ordered two pizzas, one double meatball and one meatball + pepperoni. The meatball + pepperoni was a joke as literally only two pepperoni slices were added and there were barely any meatball slices. Compared to the double meatball it looked like a cheese pizza that someone happened to add a few pieces of meat to.

William M.

Yelp
Cheese Pizza so good from Georgia would go back Best service everyone was friendly calm with toy cars in the background

Alexandra P.

Yelp
Best pizza in Charleston hands down. We had the Mediterranean and the meat pizza both were fantastic

Eddie D.

Yelp
I love pizza. I admit it. I'm not ashamed of it. I've had NY Style, New Haven (my favorite), Sicilian, Chicago deep dish (which is more of a pie for me than pizza), St Louis cracker pizza (Imo's didn't work for me) and now Detroit style. If you have had Pequod's in Chicago, you know how awesome the caramelization of the cheese is so awesome - you get that here, but so much lighter. We went for a large, and I was thinking I'd have some leftovers to eat at the hotel. This was a good call. Ambiance - this is what you would expect from a place with Detroit style pizza. Great job. Service - Was pretty good, but I did consider taking off a point for being a bit inattentive. But it wasn't bad, just not as friendly as you would expect in South Carolina. I've not been to Detroit, so that might be Detroit sweet. Pizza - excellent. If this was your local option you would go here all the time. Solid 7.7 on my scale. If there is a better place in Mt Pleasant I'd be shocked. Next time I'm in the Charleston area, I'm going back. PS - brought back three slices to hotel. Grabbed a pan and dropped the pizza in the pan and put on the lid. Normally I'd shove it in the oven, but no oven in the hotel. Microwaves are a joke. This worked very well.

Victor D.

Yelp
A++++ Best pizza in Mount Pleasant!!! If you haven't tried it, you're missing out! We eat there at least once a week.

Sg S.

Yelp
Best pizza ever don't go to raising cabins go here so good great service good prices and just best pizza restaurant out there

Lori J.

Yelp
Toni has an excellent array of pizza and salads. The antipasto has an ample amount of meat. The pizzas are great but to be honest I would not go out of my way to eat here- a delicious option if you're in the area! The cheese gets stuck to the edges of the crust and it's amazing. I tried one of the Detroit sodas which wasn't for me but it's fun they have those

Jason B.

Yelp
I can't recommend this place enough! Excellent pizza, with high quality toppings. If you're looking for pizza, it's a no brainer, stop here! Oh yeah, the service was great and I liked the old school pizza house ambiance also.

Frank K.

Yelp
Was looking for a spot to stop while driving from Charleston to Myrtle Beach. Pizza is outstanding. Light, fresh and crispy. One of the best pizzas I have ever had. Salad was also great. If I lived closer this would be my regular spot.

Joseph L.

Yelp
Best pizza so far in the area. Service was good. Bathroom was clean. Lost star due to extremely long wait for pizza to be served though Resturant was half occupied.

Merp G.

Yelp
How is it authentic Detroit style pizza? I ordered it and didn't know it was deep dish pizza. Completely unforgettable and unforgivable

John B.

Yelp
Having gotten takeout during peak pandemic times (which seems the more popular way to get a pizza here), I returned thinking that perhaps if I ate it fresh on the spot it might be even better. I was right. A beautifully crisped margherita greeted me. It's basically just extra tomatoes and basil. The best part is the way the cheese browns at the corners, but when you eat it fresh, the light, fluffy crust shines as well (it gets a little bogged down with toppings over time) and the flavor mix is mesmerizing. In the entirely likely event that I someday visit Detroit, I can only hope to find a pizza this delicious. Eating in person offers a choice of high seats or low, as well as a selection of special Detroit beverages. I tried some sort of cream soda which was a weird flavor but a good counterpoint to the pizza. The walls of this place are covered in Detroit memorabilia, and Motown music is constantly playing. The people working there also seemed to be genuinely interested in making sure us customers had a good time. The only really negative thing I can say about them is that if you have dietary restrictions that preclude you from eating wheat or dairy, this is not the place for you, and if that's the case, I feel sorry for you. The idea of spending a trip to Charleston's robust culinary scene by getting Detroit style pizza seems like a strange decision, but I even though I could have been eating the finest local cuisine in some historic building downtown, I spent not a second of this meal wishing that to be the case.

Eddie M.

Yelp
The food was absolutely amazing. The crust had a nice crunch. The thickness was just a little more that a hand toss and slight lower than a deep dish. The flavor was amazing! The small was a rectangle cut into four pieces and was perfect. I was starving so I had enough room for the brownie sundae also just as good! Highly recommend this place!!

Paul S.

Yelp
OK, so we spent a week in the Mount Pleasant area, and had a hankering for pizza on our last night, we looked up quite a few, and I had never tried Detroit style pizza before. I am sold, it was delicious, we got a foursquare, meatball for my wife, who is a major carnivore, and I got the Margarita with extra garlic and sausage. Totally worth every penny we will be back and we loved this pizza. If you have never tried Toni's You are missing out on one of Mount Pleasant's hidden gems. We highly recommend it.
