Yelp
Tookie's has ALL THE SEAFOOD.
Doesn't matter what you're looking for: oysters, crab, lobster, catfish, white fish, tuna, salmon, trout, crawfish...they've got it, and you can get it all prepared just about any way you can think of.
Personally, I was in the mood for shrimp, and the Shrimp Platter here is SERIOUS, with five different kinds of shrimp:
1. Fried. You know what it is, and they do it right.
2. Blackened. Also standard, also quite good.
3. Scampi. Delicious, and they came swimming in sauce that was excellent on everything everyone else at the table left me to eat as well.
4. Shrimp Blimps. New to me; this is shrimp stuffed with seafood stuffing, and deep fried. My least favorite of the five options, if we're being honest, but still worth eating. I think it needed a little seasoning.
5. Squealers. Shrimp stuffed with beach ball stuffing and jalapeño and wrapped in bacon. I've never heard them called this, but it's bacon-wrapped shrimp, with some extra flavor. There's nothing not to like here.
I also got a chance to eat raw oysters (fresh and tasty), Nola oysters (what I would call chargrilled, which is one of my favorite things), the excellent asparagus I got along with my platter, and the ahi tuna tacos, which were quite good as well.
If you're not already on board with Tookie's, I'm not sure what to tell you. I think they've got chicken too, but that seems like the wrong move when seafood is in the name.
