San Antonio’s Laura Loomis Returns to Two Bros. BBQ Market as Head Pitmaster | Eater Austin

"During her time away from barbecue, Loomis worked at the Italian restaurant in the San Antonio Museum of Art, first helping with prep at its commissary kitchen and later becoming executive sous chef. There she learned Tuscan-style dishes and hand-rolled pasta and deliberately stepped into a different culinary world: “I think I just wanted to do something different for a while. I wanted to see what else was out there and turn my hand at another cuisine,” she says. She credits that experience with sharpening her sense of presentation and awareness of what guests see — lessons she plans to bring back to barbecue: “Barbecue is so different from Italian. It’s very simple: salt, pepper, and smoke. But I think the biggest thing I learned in my absence is presentation and being aware of what the guests see,” she says." - Brittany Britto Garley

A nice place to have a refreshing lunch on a Saturday afternoon! We went after seeing the museum of art and we were seated with no prior reservation. Had a Hugo spritz, the bruschetta and the Italian sandwich. I wish the pesto pasta that had come with the sandwich had some salt, but overall we left full and satisfied!

I can’t believe the quality of food you get for the price here. Everything tastes fresh and real, and absolutely delicious. The Italian sandwich has such quality meat with extremely fresh bread. The bolognese is the best I’ve had in the city. On top of that Kat did a great job taking care of us. We can’t wait to come back!

This restaurant was recommended to me because of its reputation, so after an afternoon at the Art Museum, I walked in and was seated outside for an early dinner. The service was really good as was the atmosphere. I really was disappointed in the items I ordered, so I am sure that perhaps ordering more traditional items like pasta or pizza might be a better choice, but they did not meet my dietary requirements. The Cacio e Pepe Deviled Eggs were boring, basically a slightly less than hard boiled egg with a bit of pepper and a ton of freshly grated parmesan. The Crispy Skin Trout was so over cooked that the trout itself was very dry and lacked the normally nice flavor of the fish. The Italian house salad was okay, but was very basic. I have had better Italian salads at small local Italian restaurants in the Northeastern United States and at Hoagie restaurants in Philly. Again the service and atmosphere was the highlight for me, and reminded me about why I prefer to cook at home or eat at small homestyle Italian restaurants.

I had lunch at this restaurant recently. The outdoor seating offers a beautiful and romantic view of the river. However, I couldn’t get a table outside, and the indoor space is a bit small. The food was delicious, especially the pasta with Bolognese and the salad. Next to the restaurant is an art museum, making it a convenient spot to dine if you’re visiting the museum.

I had an amazing night at Tre Trattoria! The mussels and gnocchi were absolutely delicious—bursting with flavor and perfectly prepared. Their Neapolitan pizzas are also a standout; the crust was just right, and the toppings were so good. Everything I tried was top-notch, and I can’t wait to come back for more. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for incredible Italian food!”

Our 1st time to Tre T. and it was fantastic. The prices and portions were well connected and we all left satisfied and with a little bit of leftovers. Lilly served us and she was delightful and attentive. We enjoyed the relaxed environment with the hustle & sounds of the kitchen. We loved the burrata. Definitely spend the extra $2 for more bread or get a pizza to soak up ALL of the sauce! We had the bolognese, gnocchi, and the smoked Gouda pasta (see pictures). Lilly treated us to the Nutella+3, which was decadent and a go to on our next visit. It was a great meal and experience.

Perfect little hidden gem by the river. The Italian sandwich was delicious—crunchy fresh bread with roasted tomatoes and fresh prosciutto and pesto. The view of the meandering river was great and the service was inviting and helpful.

Very beautiful location, parking was close to the restaurant and not overly priced. There is a beautiful courtyard before you enter the restaurant, great for taking a nice picture. Outdoor seating overlooks the riverwalk. I had the cauliflower bisque which wasn’t my favorite but other dishes at the table looked great, would try the pasta next time.
