"Is there a better combination than pizza and beer? Raleigh’s award-winning Trophy Brewing started offering pizza at its West Morgan Street brewpub a few years ago and never looked back. Specialty pies include the Low ‘n Slow (with barbacoa, chipotle barbecue sauce, and avocado salsa), the Most Loyal (roasted chicken, basil pesto, and honey), or the Farmers’ Market (curried cauliflower puree, mushrooms, shaved Brussels sprouts, grilled onions, and jerk sauce). For fans of heat, take a bite of the Daredevil, a spicy red sauce pie with ghost pepper salami, jalapeno, and Sriracha in addition to mozzarella and caramelized onions. Those in the know, though, show up on Mondays or Tuesdays for the not-so-secret special Detroit-style pizza, a square pan pizza with a loyal following. Whichever pie customers go for, they will have the full range of Trophy’s beers available to wash it all down." - Matt Lardie
"Trophy Brewing + Pizza (the Morgan Street location) is offering New Year’s eve party snacks, decked out charcuterie boxes, and mimosa kits with housemade syrups and freshly squeezed juices to-go. Party snacks are equipped for 4 to 6 people and include satisfying bites like spicy queso with chorizo, spinach and artichoke dips, and pimento cheese. “As always, we will have plenty of beer releases to enjoy responsibly, from the couch at home,” says Chris Powers, Trophy co-owner. "On Sept. 28 I noted that Senator Kamala Harris stopped by the microbrewery/restaurant and presented co-owners Chris Powers, David Woody Lockwood, and David Meeker with an MVP trophy for the new built-in trophy case at their 827 West Morgan Street location. The brewery is known for using vintage trophies as displays, tap handles, and overall decoration; the team renovated the space right before the COVID pandemic to add that trophy case, and Harris’s gift was to be the first item placed in it. Powers wrote on Facebook that they welcomed Harris, discussed what it’s like to run a restaurant during a pandemic and their hopes for the community, described her as genuine, down to earth and a force to be reckoned with, mentioned their Allyship project with Natasha Powell Walker, and said they will treasure the trophy for years to come." - Erin Perkins
"At Trophy Brewing & Pizza on Morgan Street in downtown Raleigh, takeout jumped about 40 percent with a notable uptick in large pizza orders; the operation moved to 100 percent online, zero‑contact ordering (with beer and wine available to go), and the brewery also launched Trophy Helps — a partnership with Sysco, Digital Minerva, Bridge the Gap Mission and Pale Fire Brewing — to provide no‑contact food pickups Monday through Friday to put food on tables for those in need." - Jenn Rice
