"Turkish Kitchen pulls from a variety of influences from a country that sits between Western Asia and Europe. The menu nods to Persian and Central Asian to Jewish and Greek traditions in dishes like sigara boregi (pan-fried rolls of phyllo that are brimming with feta cheese) and manti (gently boiled beef dumplings served with a garlicky yogurt sauce), perfect for washing down with some raki, the licorice-tasting spirit popular in the region. Locals also come here for the popular Sunday brunch buffet, which includes everything from French toast and croissants to cold mezze spreads and spinach pie." - Bao Ong

The outdoor light box with images of their dishes stopped us in our tracks on our way home and we made a spontaneous decision to stop. The best decision ever-the warm welcome, pleasant ambience, attentive service and delicious food did not disappoint… I struggled to find a word to describe our experience, until I later visited their website and saw their motto “We love our customers” and realized what we experienced was Love🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Google
Awesome restaurant, awesome service! We were seated promptly and our server was very cheerful and let us know what was good on the menu as it was our first time trying Turkish food! The atmosphere was very warm and welcoming, the prices were great ( they have offers before 6pm). We got dessert on the house which just topped off the whole experience. Interesting random visit, will visit again for sure.

It was our third time in Turkish kitchen. Another excellent meal from beginning to end. Friendly service, superior authentic Turkish cuisine. Highly recommended. Elegant ambience suitable for a date or gathering.

Google
I tried one of their eggplant appetizers and found it to have too mild a taste. Their plate of sliced lamb, which they call Gyro, was overcooked and dry. I believe one can easily get a better Gyro at a fast food restaurant. It was served over white rice.

Google
Delicious and authentic Turkish food. Came here for birthday celebration and the server/owner was very attentive and friendly. We ordered Manti, cow liver and cabbage rolls. All are delicious!!! Will definitely be back again!

Google
Words are inadequate… This is a perfect restaurant in every way. The staff serves according to all the rules. The owner is very polite and caring. The food was truly like a dream. My stomach had a feast. The meat was so soft… We brought a Spanish friend and we were very proud that he could experience Turkish cuisine in such a restaurant.

Google
This place is a 10/10. To start with, it has a great classy, stylish atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything we ordered was really delicious. The service was impeccable. Very attentive, very helpful, very respectful. And the drinks! I had the Turkish Kitchen Martini and it was strong and tasty. I will most definitely be coming back and would recommend. I feel like everything on the menu is great. It tastes like the chef is making it for family.

Google
Last time I dined there every plate was phenomenal. This last experience left room for improvement. While the service is nice and the location is clean, the food lacks a freshness. No amount of service or cleanliness can offset that. Work your ways back to how you used to taste.

Yelp
Hi am adel it's great the food is good I visited this restaurant more times For open 11 am and close 11 pm but now 4 pm wish they think about open because we need eating after 12

Yelp
Idk what happened! This is a community staple! Ordered a falafel sandwich to bring home for hubby. How hard could that be? Well...there was no pita; some hard pieces of focaccia, shriveled brown lettuce. No cucumbers, no tomatoes, no tzatzki sauce.... I could see if I ordered a Platter, but then there shoulda been some rice. The falafel was also flat, round medallions and not round balls. The flavor was ok, though...

Yelp
Turkish Kitchen is my neighborhood mainstay, I can't even count how many times I've been over the years. The birthday coupons are what had brought me in every year, but even though they stopped during Covid, I still enjoy visiting. My go-to dish is the Iskender Kebab - delicious slices of lamb with tomato sauce and yogurt over baked pita bread. I also enjoy the combination platter with dips - the baba ghanoush is delicious. The atmosphere is classy but down-to-earth. The cocktails are tasty. The service can be slow, but it means we are never rushed out. The prices are mid-high, but commensurate with the quality of food. I recently came with a large group, including kids. Service was welcoming despite the chaos. Our bread was frequently replenished and our bottles of wine poured. On top of that, we were given tastes of dessert & liqueur - such a nice treat at the end of a long meal. I especially appreciated that the head guy alerted us that gratuity was already added to the check. We had such a great time, that we opted to tip more! I was happy that my group had such a positive experience, and surely will continue to return.

Yelp
A group of my friends were in town, and we happened to pick this place just by walking down the street in the area until we saw something that looked tasty. We could not have been happier with what we got for a place that we picked totally randomly. First of all, the place is popular and we did not have resos, but the staff were super nice and found us an open table that we could eat at as long as we put in our orders quick so they could get the table ready for a later reservation in an hour. Then the food itself arrived and was really delicious and well presented, just look at those kebab plates and dips! They also gave our group free baklava at the end I think just because they felt a little bad they had to rush us, which wasn't even their fault and was super appreciated. Also, the interior decoration is fantastic. The restaurant feels super classy and elegant. Great vibes for a date, a business dinner, or just a fancy dinner. Overall, easy 5 stars. Great food and amazing service. Oh and the wine was delicious too.

Yelp
Amazing service, food and coffee. The ambience is warm, welcoming. The food is light. Great size portions. The location was perfect since we were attending a show at The Spanish Repertory Theater. Great experience overall! I've been coming to this place and will continue to do so.

Yelp
[This is a copy of MY OWN review from Google] SUMMARY: Go here NOW! Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, amazing people. Great for date night and group dinners!! I went here to celebrate my amazing girlfriend's birthday after another Turkish restaurant in the area completely messed up my reservation. Once we arrived, the miraculously mustached gentleman quickly brought us to our table. Before I talk about the food, the atmosphere and service were outstanding. It is a very spacious and beautifully lit area with a gorgeous bar right at the entrance. The staff were very kind and the food was brought out quickly. We first got the fried calamari. I will be perfectly honest, the calamari could have been better. It was rather thin, even with the breading, which could have been just a little crispier. That being said, however, I still enjoyed it and scarfed all of it down with the delicious dipping sauce. We also got bread! Now restaurant bread is usually pretty lacking, but I thoroughly enjoyed the bread served here. I enjoyed it so much to the point that my girlfriend started to urge me to stop eating so I could have room for the main course. I got the Döner kebap, which is very thinly sliced lamb over rice. It was accompanied by grilled tomato, onion, and I believe pepper. This was DELICIOUS. The meat was incredibly tender and the tomato complimented the taste very well. If you get this, I highly recommend getting a forkfull of rice, lamb, and onion. That lil combination blew me away. My beautiful girlfriend ordered the shish kebap, which I believe is lamb chunks accompanied by grilled tomato, grilled pepper, cauliflower, broccoli, and rice. The lamb was charred to perfection. I thought the meat would be tough but it was sooo tender and juicy. The vegetables didn't miss either! They basically melted in the mouth, it was all so delicious. Finally, my girlfriend got two Diet Cokes. Let me tell you something, they could have easily gotten just any glass to put the soda in, but the miraculously mustached gentleman poured it in such a nice glass, the ones usually used for alcohol. It was also served with a lemon wedge! absolutely amazing. At the end of our meal, the same gentleman asked how our food was. I tried my best to summarize all the thoughts I have laid out in this review haha. Finally, he surprised us with baklava! It was a great little surprise. This was hands down the best baklava I have ever had. Incredible taste and an equally incredible texture. It was so delicious in fact that I completely forgot to take a picture of both of them for this review. It was only after I devoured mine that I remembered! Thank you so much for such an amazing experience. As stated in the beginning, the other Turkish restaurant we were supposed to go to messed up our reservation. I had no idea where else to take my girlfriend. Turkish Kitchen came in the rescue with their phenomenal food and service. They also do parties/celebrates, which I am seriously considering after this amazing experience. For anybody reading this review, stop reading the reviews and eat here! Final cost including tax: $83.83

Yelp
I came here for dinner and it was delicious! We got the zucchini pancakes and I got the baby lamb chops. When the server came over to drizzle the sauce on the zucchini fritter, he started to draw a little smiley face on it. It was adorable, the servers here have a great sense of humor. The lamb chops were also amazing and cooked perfectly. I will say that the food is a little pricey, but I loved the service and the taste!

Yelp
Tonight we had the best restaurant experience we have had in years, and it was at The Turkish Kitchen. The entire dinner experience was great, the food was great, the service was fabulous, and atmosphere was just right. In just felt that the they just wanted you to have a good meal, and to enjoy yourself while at their restaurant. We were not rushed, we were not ignored, we felt welcomed. We're we're just a party of three, that was looking for a nice place to take our daughter out for dinner, who lives a block away. We felt so fortunate that we decided to have dinner here. We were so well taken care of, and food was so wonderful, that we all realized that we had experienced a meal that we will remember forever. It wasn't just the food but the entire package. It was what you hope will happen, but seldom ever happens. I do not guarantee that everyone will have this experience, maybe we were just in right frame of mind, and the Turkish Kitchen fit the bill perfectly for this night. You will have to try it yourselves. We almost did not go in because off to one side of the restaurant, they have a a very bright lighted board of meal pictures, which seemed odd for a nice restaurant, based on the view inside. But the inside was pleasant, a beautiful little bar area up front, and a relaxing dinning room in the back. So very glad we decided to go in. My only suggestion is dim the lights on the meal board outside. I know that's stupid, but honestly we almost did not go in because of that, how foolish we are to feel that way, and how unfortunate we would be have been if we did not go in.

Yelp
Fantastic Turkish food and service. The bread is divine (and served warm) and while we enjoyed all of the dishes, the standouts were the vegetarian combination appetizer platter, mucver and iskender kebab. We wanted to try alot of dishes, so we got the dishes mentioned above as well as the muhammara, falafel (came with a tasty tomato based sauce) and the hot octopus. I would order all of them again, they just were not the highlights. Warning, this is ALOT of food for two people, but well worth it. The service was great, we had to be out by a certain time and they got us out early. They were extremely friendly (served the food when they brought it out, then placed the rest on the table) and frequently brought us more bread. The portions are good and the prices are reasonable. This will be our go to spot for traditional Turkish food in the area.

Yelp
Yesterday after the Turkish day on Madison Ave. 3 of us went there. All the tables were empty. Only one server served us slowly. After a while people like us started to arriving from the Madison Ave. One waiter could not handle all of us. A surly Mexican waiter speaking no Turkish started to help him. But crowd increased and two of them could not handle. There was a moment of panic. The food we ordered was terrible. Meat has a funny smell and we could not finish. Desert we ordered 2 Kunefe was good but the Mexican waiter mislead us about the homemade halva. It was not homemade it was purchased from the markert. Tea was cold and not brewed properly. I asked for check but they forgot me and waited for a while. When they gave the check it was not readable, their printer was broken. I went there so many times and had a very happy moment in the past, but this time I guess the restaurant changed hands. We will not go there again. It was terrible and disappointing experience.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants with tons of options & healthy portions. I've never had a bad meal here anytime I've ever come here. There are 2 floors & they get PACKED which I think speaks for the quality. Service is always efficient & friendly. I will always come back here as it is the best! In

Yelp
Love this place! It's been a neighborhood favorite 30 years and is still amazing. Delicious appetizers, fabulous entrees. The staff could not have been nicer. We were here for a birthday celebration and they made it truly special. You have to go!!

Aditi S.

Yelp
Came here for my aunt's birthday dinner this past weekend and had a good experience! Restaurant is very spacious with lots of seating - it was good weather when we went so their outdoor seating was open but there's also an upstairs seating area. Service was a little slow throughout the night - there were a few times when we had to ask for our server to come by, but she was very nice. For appetizers, we got the combination platter and the zucchini pancakes. For my entree, I got the Tavuklu Adana Kebab with the pita bread and onions, which was delicious and perfectly cooked! For our dessert, we got the baklava, which also tasted amazing! Would recommend and would like to come back!

Moaz A.

Yelp
Decent restaurant, old style architecture. It is good for friends and family. The food is delicious and service is warm. I think the Iskender Kabob needs more yogurt and less sauce, the combination appetizer platter is done just right. I would love to go again to try other kabobs.

Yelp
Thursday night 7:30pm. No rsvp. But I suggest to rsvp for better seat. Service : very attentive Decor : they r in renovation Food : so so. We ordered beef and chicken dish. The meat is well marinated and delicious. But I had better Turkish food Overall : it's ok. Won't plan to come back again

Azarel B.

Yelp
I ordered through Uber Eats. The food was made timely and packed well. They even included a "Thank You" piece of baklava. As for the food, I ordered the following: Tavuklu adana kebab - Very flavorful and grilled nicely but a little dry. It's accompanied by sliced raw onions and a piece of pita. Shepard salad - Nicely chopped veggies and plenty of it. I especially loved the level of acidity with the vinegar added. It helped the otherwise dry kebab eat better Hummus - Desperately needed some salt. It was very thick and paste like. I'd give them a 3.5 if that was possible and another shot but order something else.

Adam S.

Yelp
The food here was so good. Absolutely delicious. 5 stars. Baklava to die for. Alexander the Great, shrimp casserole, stuffed cabbage. All excellent.

Cimen T.

Yelp
Great service. Had my friends try Turkish food and experience was great. I recommend this place to everyone who wants good service and good tasty food

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants in Manhattan. Amazing Iskender kebab & Kunefe. Great value.

Yelp
Get ready to lick the plate! It's definitely the #1 restaurant in town. We tried hunkar begendi, islim kebap, yogurtlu izgara. Each of them was amazing. Everything they offer on the menu is mouthwatering!

John K.

Yelp
Got it cuz of the Michelin guide feature. Maybe it was a food delivery thing, but this meal was honestly a bit sickening. The "garlic" yogurt sauce tasted like sour yogurt, so I actively tried to keep it off the pita and meat. The lamb was disturbingly dry. The only reason it gets one more star was cuz the chicken was pretty tasty. Complete ripoff as well. $30 for food thats worse than the $8 combo plate at Adel's. Maybe dine-in is better, but delivery is a huge disappointment.

Loan T.

Yelp
Hands down one of the best Turkish restaurant in New York City! The service is impeccable- Eugene is amazing

Yelp
I've lived down the block from Turkish Kitchen for a solid 5 years and have for some insane reason have never gone until recently. I'll be honest, I've passed by Turkish Kitchen and compared to it's neighbors Tara Rose, Factory 380 and Coppola's it often seems much quieter which perhaps subconsciously led to my not choosing them. However, my meal at Turkish Kitchen was one of the best I've had in Kips Bay in quite some time. When we first walked into Turkish Kitchen there were only 2 people in the entire restaurant and it's quite large. Granted, covid has been nuts and it was freezing out, but from past observations this didn't strike me as an anomaly. We sat way in the back which was nice for social distancing purposes and we were comfortable. The restaurant was a tad cold, but I think the fans were running for covid purposes which I appreciated. Anyway, onto the food to start we had the red lentil soup which was delicious. Next up was the shepherd salad which has tomato, cucumber, parsley, green pepper and onions - phenomenal. It came with a MASSIVE portion, it was SO fresh and so delicious. We added some feta cheese and seriously if israeli (I know they're turkish) and/or shepherd salads are your thing - this salad is god damn phenomenal. Lastly, we had the Mantarli Tavuk Sis which is Char grilled skewered cuts of chicken breast and mushrooms, served with bulgur wheat pilaf and sautéed vegetables. OK, OK this shit was fucken BOMB. I liked that they took the veggies and chicken off the skewers and plated them (you could see little holes in the food from the skewer) and usually it's kind of annoying yanking chicken off of a skewer, you know? The pilaf too HOLY FUCK SO GOOD. It must have had butter on it or maybe the chef made love to it I really DON'T know, but so DAMN tasty. The veggies were also perfect and honestly, it's one of the best dishes I've had in murray hill/kips bay in some time. It was perfect. To finish, we had a tea, a turkish coffee and some pistachio baklava - all phenomenal and the service was just delightful. Everyone was kind, accommodating and had this charming, humble nature about them. Turkish Kitchen is a 5 star joint that's been sitting under my nose all this time - who knew. I can't wait to go back and enjoy some take out as well.

Yuriy N.

Yelp
I've been coming here for over a decade. This place is truly amazing in every aspect. Food, drinks, service, ambiance, all deserve a five star! Perfect for a date with that special someone or for a casual dinner. I can recommend the manti, ground chicken and ground beef, however they have soooooo much more for you to enjoy. Definitely get the baklava for dessert, yum!

Nick H.

Yelp
Food was delicious and the Turkish coffee was amazing. Service was fantastic and great ambiance! I'd highly recommend.

Yelp
While looking for a place to have dinner before to to the AMC Kipps bay theater to watch a movie, I did a quick search on Google and found this place. I tried to make a reservation through Google but doesn't like they take reservations through Google. It was also complete empty so it's a good place to just walk-in. We got there at 5:15 pm on a Monday and it was empty. We got there, the manager asked to see our vaccination cards and then we got seated. I ordered the lamb gyro plate with fries and my friend ordered their chicken kebab. I originally wanted their lamb Adana, but they didn't have that, my friend also wanted bulgur instead of rice with her chicken, but they didn't have that either. Luckily the lamb gyro I ordered was delicious. Didn't exactly get fries with it but got these fries potato pieces that are quite delicious. I really enjoyed my meal. We also ordered Cigara rolls, which are these delicious deep fried Turkish cheese spring rolls. They were fresh, hot and delicious. Food and service was decent and ambience was really nice as well. At the end of our meal, our sever also brought us some free baklava for dessert, which was really nice and very delicious. I'll definitely come back to this place. Hopefully the next time they will have the lamb Adana I really was hoping to try!

Yelp
Edit: Downgrading to a 3 as there's much better nearby, been here again with similarly ehh service. I much prefer Galata/Sofra as the prices more fit the meals. If this was in a food barren area, I'd probably maintain my old rating but not around here with so many Turkish gems. Went here for lunch with one other. While there were slight problems with the speed of the service in the beginning, the food overall was pretty good. Classy place. I partially went here to compare with a closer Turkish place on Lex/32nd. I found my usual place to be a bit better though this would be nicer for a larger group. We both got the 2 course lunch special which was 15.99 each. I also ordered some cherry juice which never arrived. St. Peters fish is also listed online as part of the lunch specials but I didn't see it outside of the larger lunch options. After ordering it took quite a long time to get bread and there wasn't much that was given. No offer of more bread and they didn't serve olive oil or something with it. The water was refilled when needed and quite quickly. I started with the Icli Kofte (Cracked wheat (bulgur) patties, stuffed with ground lamb, pine nuts, black currants and walnuts.) It was a tad too sweet but the meat was quite tender. I was surprised that I only got one (well it does say patties) but the flavor was overall good. Proper fry, not too thick. He got the Manti (poached beef dumplings served in a yogurt sauce) The manti were excellent compared to most places. The quite well flavored sauce wasn't overpowering and the dumplings were small enough that it tasted more of the filling than the outside. Excellent. For my main dish I got Etli Lahana Domasi (Cabbage stuffed with ground beef, rice and herbs. Cooked with olive oil and tomato sauce, served with yogurt) or in short stuffed cabbage. I mostly got this to compare to other places. The portion of yogurt was massive compared to the tomato sauce which I found to be slightly odd. I found the cabbage to be a bit less rich than other places. It was much lighter than the other places I have been to. He got the Iskender Kebab (Vertically grilled lamb sliced very thin, served with garlic yogurt and tomato sauces over pita bread) I usually am not that big a fan of Iskender but this place made quite a good one. The sauce wasn't super strong and the lamb was super tender. The pita bread and the rest of what was in there were also delicious and well cooked. A lot of effort was put into this dish and it showed. We decided to get dessert. I got the Kadayif while he got the almond pudding. The former was a little hard. Clear good pistachio flavor however. The almond pudding on the other hand was excellent. Good textures and good flavors. Both desserts were 4 dollars. I thought it would be more so it was a welcome surprise. The meal overall for two was a bit pricey for the quality of my dishes. However, his dishes were both excellent. If I went here alone and ordered those two dishes I probably would be giving this a low 3, maybe a 3.3 or something similar. However, that excellent Iskender alone deserves a bit more. 3.6.

Yelp
I'm a reluctant poster BUT, since I turned to Yelp for help yesterday I must report our fabulous experience at Turkish Kitchen. Our plans to gather came together last minute so we wanted a "neighborhood" place where we did not need a reservation but would have a good vibe, sit down dining, and good food. We got all of that at Turkish Kitchen PLUS tremendous hospitality and amazing food! I am so happy to add Turkish Kitchen to our family shortlist of places we love.

Ying T.

Yelp
Way down hill. Worst meal in the neighborhood since covid. Not fresh, overcooked salty rubbery octopus, overcooked salty sea bass, overcooked salty meat. Salt salt salt, way too much salt, to the point of not being edible. This place used to be ok, not one of the better Turkish restaurants in town, but ok. Last two times, absolutely horrible. Also, not really Turkish. Whoever is in the kitchen, can't be a Turkish or a trained Turkish chef. No way, no how.

Rafael J.

Yelp
They give you so much food, you don't have room for all of it.Really Great Turkish! After 3 visits to the restaurant, I finally got a handle on what I should be eating. I now eat all the delicious protein with the dips (Lebne). I take the salad and the breads home because it's the most filling. Good choice if you want good Turkish (Mediterranean). Enjoy Rafael

Yelp
My mom visited this restaurant 20 years ago and remembered enjoying the food there so since we were craving Turkish food we decided to give it a go. When we arrived at the restaurant, it was half full. After it took 15 minutes to be seated while we had a reservation, it took at least half an hour for us to get the manager's attention so we can at the very least order our drinks. We almost had to beg him to pay attention to us. He was running around like a chicken without a head, answering phones, taking orders, serving the food. His partner was at the bar serving drinks and trying to also help out. It was a zoo. We were hungry and were about to pick up and go but my parents are elderly and I decided to be patient. When we finally were able to get the manager's attention to take our order, we needed to ask him a few questions regarding the dishes. He barely took the time to answer us. The food was terrible. The smoked eggplant dish tasted like mayo. The dumplings barely had any meat inside. The gyro was served on top of what was supposed to be eggplants but tasted more like weird mashed potatoes. This is a travesty, not turkish food! On top of that, they managed to charge us for an extra glass of liquor which never ended up making it to our table. Wonder why..I wish I had noticed the overcharge before leaving. We ended up spending well over 200$ for a very stressful evening and nasty food. I wish I had read all the negative reviews and never made it there.

Yelp
I don't frequent Turkish places, but when I do I usually enjoy it. I got the Icli Kofte as a hot appetizer and Iskender Kebab + Manti as our entrees. The Icli Kofte was quite good. It's basically this croquette and in the inside is this very flavorful ground lamb. You only get two small pieces, and I wish there were some sauce with it since it can feel a bit dry. The Manti, now I'd pass on that. The dumplings are veryyyy tiny. Think of them more as gnocchi with some meat inside. When I say some....I really mean very little... I might even consider this a veggie dish given how little meat there is. The sauce is kind of weird too, some of it is a bit sour, and some of it is more savory. The Iskender Kebab was definitely my favorite. It's lamb slices and when it's warm, it's soo good. I really enjoyed that dish. There are some lasagna like layers on the bottom. I had no interest in that though. Apparently that is pita bread (but it's so moist that it didn't taste like it). Also got a dessert that is sweet on the inside, and on the inside there is melted cheese. That was soooo good too. I highly recommend that instead of the traditional baklava.

Gauri S.

Yelp
The food is fine -as good as can be when it comes to Turkish food in NYC but not comparable to Little Rascal (soho). It's the service & the unfriendly staff where they loose stars. If you order in their website, they never give you an ETA. When I went over, I was told it typically takes 30-35 mins but what they actually mean is it'll take 50-60 mins. The girl working inside the restaurant is highly unprofessional; she didn't even bother to check on the status in the kitchen..like how much time can an entree & an appetizer take? All this time while I waited outside, they didn't even bother to offer a glass of water. Years ago, when I went with Turkish friends & the service was great.

Wing L.

Yelp
Came here for dinner with some friends. The table for 4 was small with the large plates they use. The foods were ok. They had two parties at the restaurant that day so our service was terrible. The staffs was no existent, nobody refilled water or check in on you once the food was served. The Turkish coffee was strong but it has mud on the bottom. I don't know why the coffee was not strain.

Lisa F.

Yelp
Fantastic Turkish restaurant with interesting decor, an upbeat vibe and wonderful food. Ambiance. Eclectic, modern and fun. The big polka dotted wall, big round ceiling lights, checkered chairs, some modern artwork throughout, pull together well and create a fun vibe. Neon glasses adorn the lit up bar adding another interesting and fun visual. Service. Personable and attentive. Food. Excellent. - Manti- delicious. Tasty miniature beef dumplings in a garlic yogurt sauce. - Hummus, babakanush- very good. - Sis kabob- chicken and beef kabobs were both tender and delicious. Recommend for great Turkish food with family, friends or a date.

Misty D.

Yelp
This is my first time trying Turkish food. I must say it was really good! I came here with my group of colleagues as part of a holiday gathering around 2 pm ish a few days before Christmas. This place wasn't busy at all. If you are coming here during lunch hour, take advantage of either their 2 course or 4 course lunch special. It's really a good deal. I never thought I would like liver but they prepared it very well. Be sure to try this hot appetizer. Their lamb chops were so good too!! It wasn't dry and cooked just right! Lastly for dessert, be sure to try their pistachio filled pastry. Yum!

Lea M.

Yelp
The staff is so kind, welcoming, and respectful. The food was delicious and fresh and the restaurant felt so warm and homey! Definitely a top restaurant with such an amazing atmosphere, music and welcoming staff. Owner was so kind, we felt so at home and comfortable. You have to check this restaurant out!!

My little sister's friend who is Persian took my sister, a college friend, and myself here on a slow Saturday evening since her family has dined here for years. Wow. Not only was it a charming spot tucked away in the hustle and bustle of Grammercy, but the food. THE FOOD. the shepherd salad is a must, as well as the hummus, chicken, white rice, and pistachio baklava (ours was complimentary :)) ! it was a bit quiet and- I dont know if this was bc there were not as many people inside or if the space was quite large- empty. no awkward silences though... the quietness inside was reminiscent of the quiet that exists between siblings or close friends: it is safe, comfortable, accepting. thank you, Turkish kitchen, for a lovely dining experience.

Yelp
The chicken kebab gave me the absolute worst food poisoning I've ever experienced. Unbelievable really. I threw up for two days straight followed by insane body aches, I thought it would never end. Embarrassing by today's standards and I would steer clear of this restaurant at any opportunity. I'm getting nauseous just thinking about it.

Yelp
We came here for a by bday dinner. From the outside, place looked nice-inside was just as pretty with different types of decorations and patterns. Our waiter was very attentive as she came by frequently to make sure everything was okay. We had the following for appetizers: Zucchini pancake-reminded me of scallion pancake...to die for especially with the yogurt Falafel platter-unique taste but again tasted better with the yogurt For dinner we had: Okra with pieces of lamb chops-mediocre but the okras were yummy! Wished it was spicy Lam casserole-a bit salty and the lamb had a smell but other parties begged to differ Grilled lamb chops and chicken plater with white rice-one word, delicious! Lamb steak with rice-could've been cooked better-not my favorite Baklava-amazing! It's a place you should definitely try once but no more.

Yelp
This was my first time having Turkish food and I was impressed, the flavors were very comforting and homey. The flavors were not blow you away with flavor but very well prepared and nicely seasoned dishes. The decor here was great, it is definitely on the fancier side and the service was super attentive, I also really appreciated how the servers knew we were splitting everything and divided the portions for us. The food: Mucver- Pan-fried zucchini pancakes, served with garlic yogurt sauce. The zucchini pancake was great, it was a very soft pancake with nice strands of zucchini. It was cooked well but the yogurt sauce took it over the top, I really enjoyed the yogurt. This is something to order. Lahmacun- Thin pide dough, topped with spicy lamb filling. This dish was just ok, the minced lamb flavor was not very pronounced, it kinda felt like think crust pizza topped with minced lamb. This isn't something I would get again. Iskender Kebab- Vertically grilled lamb sliced very thin, served with garlic yogurt and tomato sauce over pita. I enjoyed this dish. It kinda felt like a lamb lasagna. The lamb was so tender and I really liked the yogurt with the pita. The dish does come off a little one note but I thought it was great. Kunefe- First time having Kunefe and it didn't disappoint. It kinda felt like a sweet and savory croissant. The sweetness is a bit much but the mellow stringy cheese balances it out nicely. I enjoyed it. I would definitely order this again.

Yelp
This has been a long-time favorite and I'm not sure why I only gave it four stars last time. Ate here again last night and it was terrific. Three of us split four appetizers and then had three entrees. We were all happily stuffed. (Probably ordered too much.) We had the shepard's salad, manti, hunkar begendi, and arnavut cigeri (calf's liver) appetizers. My favorite was the liver -- done so well that one of the three of us who don't like liver commented that she liked it too -- but everything was good. All of us had lamb entrees: Iskander kebab; Sis Kebab; and mine was Islim Kebab, lamb shank covered with eggplant. It was all scrumptious. We were too full to order dessert, but the restaurant comped us a plate of three baklava pieces too and we somehow managed to eat them. Bill for 3 (with 4 alcoholic drinks and a soda) came to $203.60 including tax, but before tip. A great meal. For wheelchair accessibility information, see my 2015 review.

Yelp
Food was really good. All appetizers were fresh and had good taste. Very good wine selection. I ordered okuzgozu-bogazkere yakut was really good. Service was average. Don't order baklava and hot tea. See pictures.

Yelp
Turkish Kitchen has declined and prices have increased a lot They no longer offer specialties like imam bayildi, which used to be excellent Their prices are up 20% in the past couple of years and they dropped lunch specials I will stop going there

Yelp
So sad to see one of my favorite restaurants for over twenty years in the city fall little by little. It start it four months ago with the lunch special salad was no longer available still in the menu. It was one of the reasons I would go there out of my way.... The service was lame very typical of the comfortably numb NYC mindset. Today I visited to see no one in the restaurant . Then I figured out the reason , the lunch menu was gone. They had a regular a la carte menu. They shift was to extreme for me to handle!! Added the fake waitresses and the basic service now. I went somewhere else!! Sorry Egor and thank you for the many years. Your maitre d Turkish man with suit. Was a great asset kept the staff on their toes Not any longer...

Yelp
As a Turkish person I wasn't amazed nor convinced by the food that we've had today. I had the 'tavuklu adana' and my wife had the 'izgara köfte' - we both didn't really enjoy the food, we just wanted to finish and leave quickly, as food and service doesn't live up to the Turkish kitchen / standards. The shepherd salad on the other hand is the main reason why I rate them with 3 stars and not 1. It was very good. The lady that was serving our table was very nice and polite, but we really didn't feel the energy in the restaurant... I am not going to visit this place again.

Yelp
This restaurant has a nice ambience and service is fast and attentive. They don't do any substitutes which is a bummer as we don't eat bread. We got green salad, the salad wasn't tossed at all which is unusual for Turkish imo. I didn't find it very satisfying either. I ordered doner over eggplant as the main course. Doner itself was pretty successful however the eggplant base had a sugary taste which was very disagreeable to me. We also got lamb shanks which had the lamb smell but was ok. I'm sure some people like the food as it is but it will not be my first choice in this area where there are plenty of other options.
