Four Restaurants to Try This Weekend in New York: October 11 | Eater NY

"In Chelsea a new Greek sandwich shop occupies a corner location and is nicely decorated for a counter-service spot, with dried herbs hanging above the counter and paintings of Greek themes lining the walls. The place makes its own sourdough pitas, which are used for four sandwiches—chicken breast, pork shoulder, beef, and wild mushroom—and the pork, carved from a rotating vertical spit, is especially good ($11) topped with tomato, onion, yogurt, and paprika, with an optional spicy tomato sauce. The Greek salad ($15) is also worth ordering, and the fridge offers a selection of Greek juices and sodas." - Robert Sietsema

Tziki - Review - New York - The Infatuation

"Chelsea has a new fast casual spot to grab an athleisurely lunch. Tziki is a Greek spot that looks similar to Souvla in San Francisco, where you can fill your bowl or wrap with things like pork souvlaki, beef kebabs, and wild mushroom souvlaki. They’ll also have house made fro-yo made with Greek yogurt. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Google
This place sends you to food heaven! Everything tastes so fresh and authentic. Get the pita with tzatziki then the gyro and then finish it off with the homemade traditional desserts - baklava and apple pie. Officially my new favorite spot!

Google
This joint deserves 5 star. Such simple and elegant interior. Big windows to see the world pass by. The lady taking the order was super nice and kind. Simple details like asking whether I would like the sparkling water with glass and lemon slice. Menu is very small which is good. Ordered Beef Kebab Souvlaki which was served fresh and hot in 5 mins. For the price I think this place is a gem of a find. Authentic flavor for Greek fast food. Love the place.

Google
Second time going and I got the Beef kebab skewer and Moussaka croquettes to go this time. The beef was well-spiced and great but the real scene-stealer for me was the croquettes. The white bechamel sauce(?) was creamy and umami-packed with a bit of kick from the seasoned beef, and the croquettes were perfectly crispy. I’m definitely getting them again. Also I really appreciated the way Tziki packs everything so cleanly and to travel well for to go! It’s not shown in the pic but the beef kebab bag is lined and the kebab was wrapped inside separately in paper on top of the pita slices. Plus the staff there were so cheerful and welcoming both times I went :) love the vintage knickknacks decorating the establishment. Highly recommend if you want a Greek treat 🫶🏻

Google
So good. Owners are so nice. 10% off for LE and Fire. I got the halloumi pita with side fries and it was more than I could finish. The Spanakopita salad is an amazing deconstructed version. And the beef is the best my partner has had.

Google
Such a five-star spot! Every dish packed to the brim with freshness and flavor, like you’re on a little Greek island, sitting in the sun ☀️ The Greek salad is insane. Makes eating salad the easiest thing in the world, with these huge cubes of feta. Also adored their tzatziki dip and fluffy, warm pita, and their seasonal pumpkin-goat cheese special dip. The beef souvlaki with added grilled halloumi was solid, but had too many spices. Will try the chicken souvlaki next time and their special Greek yogurt with cherries dessert! Can’t wait. 5 stars!!!!

Google
Got the chicken skewer in a pita, and it was good. It was nicely constructed and presented. Some part of me was expecting a bit more grill flavor though. Still, I am excited to return to try other menu items. Excellent service too , they brought the food to me as well as wiped the table section that I was sitting at.

Google
I recently visited Tziki and ordered a pita gyro with chicken. The meat was perfectly seasoned, very tasty, and everything was freshly prepared. The portion was generous and the quality really impressed me. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming. I can highly recommend this place!

Mysha A.

Google
We ordered the Greek fries, halloumi skewer and both the chicken and beef wraps, and everything was incredible. The staff was so friendly, and Harry even treated us to tzatziki and pita. Honestly one of the best meals I’ve had in NYC. There’s plenty of seating inside with bar counter space, plus outdoor tables for the summer. Such a great spot for a casual lunch or dinner, and I’ll definitely be back. Thank you for the best service and food!!

Yelp
Dropped my Tziki for lunch and their Greek pita with chicken breast kebab did not disappoint! Filled with red onion, tomatoes, smoked paprika and Greek yogurt, every bite packed a punch! Chicken breast was very juicy, cooked perfectly. I paired my pita with spicy tomato saltsa. I also ordered a side of Greek fries to get a bit of crunch. Perfect meal on the go! The shop is small but can seat 20 people for lunch. It was very busy during lunch which was a good sign for us to know it's a good choice! Service was speedy.

Yelp
Super cozy spot with limited seating, but serving delicious pitas! Came with a friend and we sat outside - we ordered the tzatziki to share and both ordered a pita. Food came out really fast! Tzatziki (4/5): not the best tzatziki dip I had but still really good. Extremely flavor and comes with a side of pita. I wish the pita was a bit fluffier but it was served warm! Pork gyro in a pita (4/5): Pork was the most slightly dry but would highly recommend adding the fries, which were my favorite part of the pita. Crispy and seasoned to perfection. The inside was also stuffed with fresh veggies and tart greek yogurt which made for a bite full of flavors and textures. Recommend for a quick weeknight dinner!

Yelp
This place is great. We got the special and it trumped whatever was on their regular plates. Fries in the pots, halloumi, a nice tomato sauce. It was delectable. Their regular pita wraps, ok. Get the special. $18 Friendly staff. Communal style seating inside. Great location right on the corner

Yelp
Friendly staff - authentic - aesthetically pleasing. If in the neighborhood and looking for something filling and satisfying come here.

Yelp
I got the Chicken Souvlaki in a Pita and it was so so so tasty. Perfect ratios of all ingredients and the pita itself was one of the best pitas Ive ever had like it was so fresh and soft. The vibe inside the restaurant was so serene and beautiful, very Greek!

Allison B.

Yelp
So freaking good. Service is amazing and the owner is so positive. And the food omg so good. Great inside too

Jack W.

Yelp
This place is great. One of the best greek salads in the city. The pork Gyro is great, however what really holds them back is that their chicken and beef need to get on the same level as the pork. They are dryer and less flavorful. I am confident they can improve those 2 and get all of it on the same page.
google avatar

Yelp
Tasty Greek style sandwiches in Chelsea. I got the Wild Mushroom sandwich which was earthy and juicy and really quite delicious. It's not that big for $13 but I enjoyed it . Be aware that there are onions on this sandwich (you might want to ask for it without.) My friend had the chicken skewer which he thought was a bit dry but had tasty pita bread with it (and is probably better in a sandwich. ) The Greek Fries are a large portion that two can definitely share but I thought it had a lot of spicy seasoning on it . Next time I might ask for fries without the seasoning. I also had their Sour Cherry drink . That is delicious ! Get that , I think it is from Greece . They also have Coke or Diet Coke in glass bottles on ice . The staff are really friendly and this place seemed busy . Nice spot on 22nd and 7th Avenue.

Yelp
If you love lemon, go here! We had the chicken and beef skewers, accompanied by both the avgolemono soup and the Greek fries. Each was great and somewhat unique to what you would find at most Greek establishments. The soup was thick and had a lot of lemon flavor. You could still taste the necessary flavors, but it is a citrus forward taste. The Greek fries have feta and paprika on them and taste great, but I'd recommend dipping them in the tsaziki sauce for an even better taste.

Yelp
Being Greek-American, I know Greek food. As a frequent visitor to NYC, I search for only the best. I learned about Tziki from social media, and it has been on my list for a while. Today I finally made it and wish I went much earlier. The place is cozy and the sound track is amazing. The service is impeccable and the chef oversees the entire order from start to finish. This isn't your average gyro place. Tziki does something that you can't find anywhere else, but maybe in a side street in Athens from a shop that uses traditional 1960s techniques. The feta cheese is top notch, the careful preparation of the Greek salad reminds me a salad served only in small Greek villages. The sauce in the gyro isn't tzatziki--it's a simple high quality yogurt--so as to accent the unusually spiced and surprisingly majestic pork gyro. The pita is chewy and compliments the carefully curated vegetables in the gyro. I forgot to take photos of the main courses because we were so excited to eat what was brought before us, but I did manage to take photos of the expertly crafted desserts. I was told the chef is also an avid pastry chef and it showed. Even the traditional desserts aren't what you'd expect. The high quality ingredients and the unique flavors elevate the desserts above what you would find in a high end Greek restaurant. Simply put, if you love Greek food, you must give Tziki a shot. I promise it will be different and you will want to try the entire menu.

Yelp
im always scared to try food in the city bc im scared its overhyped or overpriced but not here!!! such a cute corner restaurant- great for chatting if u can grab a seat (people go by quick tho) and amazing food and the prices were so reasonable!! service was great AND they have a bathroom!

Jane M.

Yelp
This restaurant features communal tables lined with stools, and traditional Greek white washed walls with blue accessories! Quality ingredients blended in with traditional spices make for delicious pita wraps, skewers and bowls. The fact that feta cheese comes as an option brings everything to the highest level. Totally delicious!! Their lunch time is crowded with many customers, but always they found seating.

Yelp
A line at opening. Only open two days and there's a line. Souvlaki and sour dough pita make this Greek French casual a hit! The old Restivio space on the corner of 22nd St. Ate: Mushroom souvlaki Chicken skewer Tzatziki Greek salad Total $35 The mushroom souvlaki is ridiculous! The flavor is soo unique and the sour dough pita is outstanding. Will be back for more.

Yelp
This is the cutest little Greek restaurant to grab a quick bite! Everything from the aesthetic to the customer service was 10/10! I ordered the Greek fries and beef kabob. Everything was packed with lots of flavor. I loved the little notes of fresh herbs and lemon. Absolutely loved my experience here!

Yelp
Legitimately the best thing to happen to this neighborhood in years. My partner and I live not far away, and we're anxiously awaiting this opening for months, and it did not disappoint. Stepping inside feels like being transported to a beachside tavern in Cyprus. There's nothing on the menu that isn't delicious, and with a rotating menu of specials, there's always something new to pair with your favorites. The pork shoulder in a pita can't be beat, but the beef kebab is a very close second. And if it's on the menu, the grilled feta shouldn't be missed. Even if there's a bit of a line, it moves quickly, and the staff are nothing short of saints. This has become a staple of our rotation for a quick WFH lunch or for dinner. There's nothing quite like in that I've seen, especially not in the area.

Yelp
Tziki is some of the best fast casual Greek food you'll ever eat in your life, located in the heart of Chelsea. The vibe is trendy and modern with a lot of natural light and cool art. Do not pass up on stopping in here. Clean location, fast service, extremely nice staff, great pricing, and utterly delicious. Food melts in your mouth and brings the heart of Greece to New York City.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely stellar. I expected something okay--I was pretty immediately blown away. I got the pork shoulder pita with the almond & orange blossom drink. I'll start with the drink--if you've always been disappointed by the experience of Almond milk like I have, get this if it's still around. Mildly sweet, strongly almond, as refreshing & heartening as you can imagine. The food, though, was the show-stopper--fresh, balanced, & covered in onions & paprika! Entirely perfect. The customer service was impeccable--the lady who cashed me out was wildly sweet & offered me a sip of the drink because of its unusual flavor. It's a modest space, & the ambiance is about as good as you could ask for--music is hip (yet still Greek!), & I stood at the window so the 7th ave view was pleasant. I intend on coming back too frequently for my wallet's safety!
google avatar

Jesus S.

Yelp
I like it. The pita is soft and tasty. The meat is very tasty as well. Everything is delicious. I suppose my only complaint is the price. I think it's a bit expensive for what it is. I think people might disagree. Just my opinion. I got the chicken souvlaki and the halloumi souvlaki. Honestly, a chicken souvlaki is not enough, but if I order two, now I am at $25 for lunch. A bit high for me for souvlaki. The people are nice and the place also looks nice. Everything was served well. Might go again. Maybe they should have some kind of lunch combo for about $20?
google avatar

Donald C.

Yelp
I visited greece for two weeks & after every meal i could only think of when id be hungry again so i could eat some more. The food was so simple & delicious. Tziki reminds me of those authentic Greek meals. Amazing pita, sauces, cheeses, great fries & high quality meat at a great price. Wonderful service & staff. This place is a winner!! So glad we found it on our visit here!! We will be back before our trip ends!
google avatar

Chanel T.

Yelp
Found this cute little spot to avoid the rain. Tons of indoor and outside seating with a great ambiance. Ordering a chicken breast skewer pita and Greek fries totaled $24, slightly steep however well worth it. The pair was so filling and delicious. Will definitely be stopping in again when in the area.
google avatar

Eunseo C.

Yelp
I got the beef kebab souvlaki, and I loved it. It was seasoned well and served fresh. I tried the mushroom one as well, and that one had an amazing flavor too. It's super casual and kind of a fast food vibes, but the food is well made
google avatar

Kristina F.

Yelp
In the summer months I find myself missing Greece and their delicious Pita souvlakis. Tziki creates such a delicious and authentic Pita Souvlaki that satisfies my cravings. The chicken (Kalamaki) is moist, flavorful, and has a beautiful char. Hands down the best pita in NYC (better than spots in Astoria). I've been here a handful of times and they're very consistent in quality and flavor. Great job Tziki!
google avatar

Maryana A.

Yelp
My friend is pregnant and she is craving for light Greek food and ended up in this place. It is nice, not too big and you can still have a seat while enjoying the food. We love the food and the service. They gave us free haloumi with pita bread to everyone in the store. Ambiance so good. Service are so friendly!

Karine S.

Yelp
Food was delicious and authentic. We had the Spanakopita salad, the chicken and the pork pita and the fries. Great ambiance. Can't wait to be back.
google avatar

Dino B.

Yelp
Hey y'all chelsea folks We got a new lunch spot! Just opened up and while the menu looks fantastic I only got the Greek salad Tomatoes, feta onions, oil vinegar concoction it was delicious, so fresh. I will update once I go back I am going to also say the only sus part was when checking out. I almost got charged 4 for extra dressing.
google avatar

Vishnu G.

Yelp
Relatively low cost, which makes this a solid choice for a quick and light meal. However, the flavors are nothing special. I had the halloumi pita. The pita was nice and fresh, but the fillings and sauces were pretty muted. I mostly just tasted the salty halloumi and not much of the sauces. This came out to $12 before tax and tip.

David W.

Yelp
Best tsatziki ever! Baklava = heaven. Hostess Noni a gem. Mousaka croquettes, beef skewer not to be missed! You will WANT to come back.

Donna B.

Yelp
Food was delicious!!! Service is always great, pleasant and welcoming. Ambiance is cute for a 'fast-food' place. But this place is so much more. This is great, quick Greek food! This place needs to have many more locations around the city! I'm so happy they're in my neighborhood
google avatar

Vidhi S.

Yelp
If you're in the mood to grab a great souvlaki or some dips with pita , this is the place to be. We tried the chicken skewers and halloumi skewers in addition with the chicken and the mushroom souvlaki! They also have some great salads and specials that you should try. Great spot to pick up a quick lunch special. They also offer outdoor seating. The service is great and it's a cute spot ! Please try it when you get a chance, the owner and the staff are super friendly and make some great recommendations!
google avatar

Andrew L.

Yelp
Loved the quality of the souvlaki sandwiches at Tziki! I had the beef souvlaki and it was flavorful and delicious. Pita is fresh and tasty and I'd recommend the tzatziki dip to pair it with. Staff was helpful and explained the menu. Both desserts were good any you can't go wrong with either!

Ellie W.

Yelp
Amazing Greek spot! Harry is awesome. The spanakopita salad (special) was the best. Also had the Greek salad, halloumi, pita with pork and beef.
google avatar

Eric T.

Yelp
Ordered the chicken pita and Greek fries. The dude taking orders was super friendly and helpful for a first timer. Everything came out fresh, hand made, absolutely delicious. The sauce they serve with the fries for dipping was an unexpected tasty surprise. They have very limited seating so I had to take/ eat my order standing, but it's New York so I guess that's to be expected. Other than that, highly recommend!
google avatar

Damon B.

Yelp
I've eaten here several times. Since it's close to home I always get it to go. My favorite so far is the Greek salad.
google avatar

Nicholas G.

Yelp
I will say I love gyro's when they are done right. They are the best street food in my opinion especially and Tziki makes one of the best I have had. They have all sorts of gyro's. The pork and chicken are lovely. The mushroom and halloumi are sleepers. Absolutely loved the tzatziki. Get extra pita when you order. The Greek salad is served traditional with no lettuce (huge pet peeve of mine is when they put lettuce in a greek salad). It is a must order with a gyro. I would come back in a heartbeat! Highly recommend.
google avatar

Dill K.

Yelp
Great food, great service, great ambience! I'm thankful I got to try the lunch special when they still had it - two pitas for $13ish. However, that's been gone for awhile. RIP TO A REAL ONE!
google avatar

David G.

Yelp
Small place with trestle tables, but good food--excellent sausage gyro, French fries inside.
google avatar

Pepper L.

Yelp
I had Spankanopita Salad, a deconstructed spinach pie with fresh spinach and feta and single slices of cooked phyllo dough. A cool idea especially for diabetics like me, but a little boring. I added mushrooms to mine. The cilantro dressing on the side was out of this world and it made the whole dish. My friend had a pork pita sandwich which she said was great. They always have cucumber-mint or orange/lemon infused water for free. You have to order at the counter then they bring the food to you and you get your own water. There is cafeteria style seating. Not sure they have a bathroom, I didn't see one. They were courteous and answered questions about food allergies. The only thing I didn't like is there was only one waitress/cashier and they were packed and she let me stand with a cane for several minutes before taking my order, because she had to serve some tables. They should have more staff on hand at busy times. Wheelchair accessible door but seating would not be easy.
google avatar

Jenn L.

Yelp
This may become one of my grab-and-go spots for a quick lunch! Tziki opened recently and I was super excited to try it out. Their menu is small and simple - I've tried their chicken and pork souvlaki, and both were SO good. Super tender, juicy, flavorful. Pita was fresh, warm and pillowy. And the souvlaki itself was a perfect size (for me) to fill you up *just* enough. They're closed Sundays and Mondays, so plan your trip around that. Service was quick and there was no line when I went during lunch time. Cute decor inside with more seating than I expected! Absolutely a hidden gem for now. So try it out before it blows up on IG / TT!
google avatar

Annie S.

Yelp
Honestly just fine, not bad but nothing special. More like 3.5 stars. I got the chicken souvlaki and spiced fries and they were both fairly flavorless. The chicken was cooked well but the sauces and toppings just didn't add enough oomph. Pretty casual spot, nothing fancy. Prices aren't too bad which is why this wasn't a 3 star review. Worth stopping by if you're in the area and want a bite without breaking the bank.

Paul T.

Yelp
Great authentic Greek food on the go. A bit of the pricey side but it's the city so that's to be expected. But considering it is in the city I'd say the prices are fair. Decent sized portions too.
google avatar

Alezander W.

Yelp
The BEST souvlaki you can get in NYC now! Came here midweek in the evening, and managed to get in before a massive rush. I've always wondered why there was always a consistent line of people outside Tziki Souvlaki, and I quickly learned the reason. Unlike other souvlaki in NYC that's overly charred or dry, Tziki hits the nail on the head. I opted for the chicken kebab, and it was perfectly tender, juicy, and paired perfectly with all the add-ins, notably the yogurt sauce and smoked paprika. The spiced tomato salsa also added a great level of freshness and zing. Definitely recommend staying in to eat to enjoy the art work and Ari and Harry's company. They're two great guys who helped me understand what it takes to actually prepare a delicious souvla and a load of fun to chat with. Can't wait to come back and try the pork and halloumi options next!

A W.

Yelp
Food is amazing!!!! The souvlaki was great and they had a wonderful cucumber mint drink that was also to die for. Not only that but they staff is also super nice. Definitely going back.

Dean M.

Yelp
Cant beat the quality and price! Very simple but perfect menu. Feels like I was eating at a local joint in Greece. Harry was very friendly and can you tell how passionate he is about the food and culture. Quick dinner or lunch, either way you cant beat it! I will be back
google avatar

Eileen H.

Yelp
Great food and sevice.Lots of vegetarian options available.Happy to live nearby.Really love this place
google avatar

Andrew B.

Yelp
the best. pork souvlaki w/ feta and tahini (+an orange soda ). Can't wait til next time

Aris K.

Yelp
Tziki Souvlaki is hands down my new favorite Greek restaurant in NYC! If you're craving authentic, flavorful Greek food, this is the place to go. The star of the show was the pork gyro--perfectly seasoned, juicy, and wrapped in warm, fluffy pita with just the right amount of tzatziki. Every bite was packed with flavor! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the staff made us feel right at home. We also tried the spanakopita salad and a side of grilled halloumi, both of which were incredible. You can really tell they use fresh, high-quality ingredients and care about every dish they serve. Tziki Souvlaki is the best. Can't wait to go back.

Lindsay F.

Yelp
Amazing authentic food and owner is so attentive and kind. 10/10 recommend! Xxxxxxx

Yelp
I have never had chicken that tasted this good and soft and flavorful. I got try chicken gyro and it was truly amazing. It's a great place to grab and go at the same time fulfill your appetite. Would def go again.
