Stylish neighborhood spot for Portuguese shared plates, raw-bar items, sherry cocktails & wines.
"A Portuguese restaurant in Noe Valley, closed due to common business issues." - Paolo Bicchieri
"Portuguese restaurant Uma Casa’s happy hour features specials that could very well double as an early (and affordable) meal. Enjoy discounts on bites like piri piri chicken sandwiches, “Portugues” fries, and pasteis de bacalhua, plus drink specials like Portuguese beers, wine, spritzes, and cocktails. Hours: 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday" - Dianne de Guzman, Paolo Bicchieri, Justine Jones
"Chef Telmo Faria, who folded plenty of tacos at Tropisueño and Tacolicious, is finally celebrating his own heritage in one of the few Portuguese restaurants in the city. Usually, the blue-tiled dining room welcomes groups of friends who can share small plates of salt cod fritters and sardines, and big platters of clam stew and piri-piri chicken. And don’t miss the egg tarts, worth snagging when they pop up on the menu." - Paolo Bicchieri, Becky Duffett
"This kind-of-casual, kind-of-fancy Portuguese place feels like the neighborhood spot your friends found on their vacation in Lisbon and now won’t stop talking about. The crowd is people of all ages, plus couples on date night. And the food is heavy on seafood and tomato bases, and light on things that are vegetarian. Everything on the menu is well-executed and tasty, but the gambas, sardines, caldo verde, and short rib are standouts. The staff is quick with helpful recommendations, and the wine list is reasonably priced and goes beyond your usual California sauvignon blancs. Long story short, you’ll have a great time. "If Uma Casa was in a different neighborhood than Noe Valley, it would be slammed at all times. This place serves excellent Portuguese food in a cool space, but because you’re in Noe and not on a European vacation where everyone eats late at night, the crowd is older and home with the kids and therefore not out and eating at Uma Casa. Make the most of it." - taylor abrams, max child, will kamensky
