Ferry Plaza Farmers Market Favorite Proyecto Diaz Coffee Is Opening a Cafe in Oakland - Eater SF

"The folks behind Valley Bar + Bottle, one of Sonoma’s coolest natural wine destinations, have opened a new restaurant called Valley Swim Club at 18709 Arnold Drive. The Chronicle reports the focus is “classic seafood staples like New England-style rolls ($16) and fried whole belly clams ($20).” There’s a short wine list and the owners say they hope it’ll be less of a tourist destination than their original business." - Lauren Saria

The staff were very friendly and have many GF options. The food was delicious, and fresh with good portion sizes. We sat on the patio overlooking the field and mountains.

We went to Swim Club and had an amazing meal. The food was outstanding. We ordered and shared the fries, cashew queso, a salad, and a Korean-style Fish platter. Everything was flawless, and actually even better than dishes I've had at similar high-end restaurants with the best ingredients around. My wife is a chef and she agreed. We both thought this place deserves a much higher rating than the current 4.2 on google reviews. I tend to think the food is the most important thing when dining, and this food was beyond incredible. Plus, the service was great, our house-made drink was delicious, and the ambience/vibe was super cool and fun. We topped off our meal with a soft serve ice cream with Valley olive oil and sea salt: SO YUMMY!!

Excellent shrimp tostada, coleslaw, and soft serve ice cream with preserved strawberries & their syrup.

Very chic, yet approachable restaurant. Food is amazing and well priced, great staff. Just be aware that it’s very kid-friendly. Went around 6:00 pm on a Friday and 70% of the restaurant brought kids that were running and screaming freely - not ideal for those who have been wine tasting and are looking for a more adult oriented environment.

Our favorite spot in town! Easily on par with all the best places in SF. Diner vibes but with high-end farm-to-table food. Beautiful views out back. Highly recommend the spritz if you’re looking for a wine break. All the food is fantastic and most can be made gluten free (even the fish and chips). Also lowkey the burger is incredible

We went out in for lunch. I ordered the fish and chips and for the price I was expecting much more. I got a handful of fries, 1 strip of fish and no coleslaw even though it said it was going to come with it. Paid a ridiculous amount of money. Two of us went, we had a salad our entrees, two drinks and it cost over $100. Insane. Food was good but wayyyy too expensive. We like supporting local businesses but we won’t be back.

It’s so amazing to have a seafood shake style restaurant right here in Sonoma Valley. The atmosphere is very warm feeling and the patio outside is really nice for the wonderful weather of Sonoma. The food is outstanding I order Togo which is a great option as well. I ordered a few items from the Shrimp Roll Oyster Roll to Spicy Tuna plate and some fries. The Rolls were super delicious and perfect size for lunch time with the side of fries extra but worth it. Lastly the spicy tuna plate is like a poke bowl and was excellent as well. It so nice to try something new in town can’t wait to see what else this restaurant has to offer in the near future to Sonoma

INSTANT WIN! Just opened and it’s AMAZING! Counter service is the best. Pay and find a seat in the back with stellar views of Sonoma Mt. A much needed new restaurant in Arnold. Thank you!! The Cod Sandwich was perfect! And no need to drive all the way to the coast to get it. It’s right here in Sonoma! French fries can’t get any better. So happy the soft serve machine wasn’t working so I didn’t have to get a cone!! I’ll be coming back many many more times.

Yelp
Don't let the name fool you. There's no swimming at the Valley Swim Club! Valley Swim Club is a California clam shack. The name references the hot springs that existed below the grounds and the bathing culture that had developed around them. It is also inspired by the Olompali Swim Club, a commune in the 60's where Janis Joplin and the Grateful Dead once hanged out. These days the fast-casual restaurant is known for great creative seafood and farm-to- table ingredients, and its soft serve(the version with olive oil and sea salt) was named by the S.F. Chronicle as one of the best in the Bay Area. We dropped by here on a Fall colors drive through Sonoma County. After we stepped in the door, a smiling staffer handed us a food and a separate drinks menu, and pointed out the daily specials. We ordered at the counter, and went to the covered back patio to wait for our food to be brought to our table. The back patio has canvas walls with transparent vinyl windows that allowed you to look out to the open fields. There were also some tables and seatings outside. We were amused by signs posted in the fields that warned of "No lifeguard on duty". Soon our food was brought to us. We started with tasty fried oysters. The oysters were succulent and the batter was light so you can taste the seafood. Next we had the shrimp tostada. It had a ton of ingredients with delicious shrimp, but it was small size so it was kind of pricey. For the Lunch Plate, we chose the trout(chicken and shrimp also options), and we decided on the Ssam dressing(with kimchi, ssamjang- a Korean spicy sauce, lettuce cup). We really enjoyed this dish. You scoop a piece of fish on the lettuce cup and add kimchi and ssamjan. It can get really messy in your hands but it was so good! The soft serve with olive oil and sea salt did not disappoint. The combination of sweet and savory flavors was a sensory delight. Prices here can be expensive, but the quality of the food made it worth it..The staff were so incredibly warm and friendly. I already have plans to come back with members of my car club.

Yelp
Teeny weenie lil breakfast burrito for $14 is a joke. Should be called 'mini breakfast burrito' Also, Microwaved and premade. What a joke! There is no way this burrito cost more than $2 to make. I have seens "kids burritos that are 3x the size of this for $8". Flavors were ok.. was kinda chewy on one side due to being microwaved, I'm sure it's not high quality meat and most likely non organic eggs. This really turned me off to this place. The burrito also not even fresh made for the price of that size is a joke. It was microwaved outside in some sort of food truck thing. Probably won't be back here. Lady inside the cart was nice and idk about any of the other food. I've gotten a lot of mixed feedback from people also mostly steering me away.

Yelp
Didn't expect much from this quick lunch but was pleasantly surprised by my battered cod sandwich. It was actually awesome and super flavorful. I tried the fried oysters but they were not for me. Still had a strong salty, sea water-y taste that I couldn't get behind. The fried mushrooms were much better, and I also liked the cashew queso. The ice cream here is the real star of the show. Straus soft serve is just the absolute best, and I loved all the different toppings you can add. I got the cookie crumble and it was truly big pieces of crumbled cookies and not just a dusting of cookie powder. The perfect dessert to beat the wine country heat. You sit at big picnic tables in a covered, open-air patio behind the small building where they have their ice cream shop and wine fridge. It's a fun setting for families or groups of friends. Definitely more of a no frills kind of place.

Yelp
This is a cute place on 12. The fish sandwich and the burgers are delicious if pricey. The wine and beer selection is quite nice and the set up is fun. You are right by a very pleasant open field with a view of the hills. We hosted a gathering there and it was so easy, and everyone had a blast.

Yelp
Best fish and chips I have ever had!!! Fries were so good, Caesar salad delicious. Had a bite of my friend's battered cod sandwich and it was also delicious! Then we all finished with soft serve and it was the perfect ending to our incredible lunch. Can't wait to come back and try more things!

Yelp
I was excited to hear Valley was opening up a seafood restaurant! Valley Swim Club is located on Arnold Drive outside of downtown Sonoma. While it isn't downtown this place is worth the visit! They are currently open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. They have a fun take on a "swim club". The swim club is very casual, and you walk up to a counter to order. They have seating in the main room as well as additional seating outdoors. During the winter months they have it tented and heaters. The menu rotates and includes snacks, salads and soups, sandwiches and main entrees, kids' menu and desserts. I ordered the shrimp sandwich, which comes with potato chips. The shrimp was well seasoned and was rather delicious. My friend ordered the clam chowder and French fries. The chowder had great flavor. It wasn't your traditional heavy cream chowder and was very light. They have a good selection of sparkling wine as well as many other wines and beer and non-alcoholic drinks. During weekdays on Tuesdays through Fridays they offer a happy hour from 3-5 p.m. with $10 glasses of wine and half-off bubble bottles! I look forward to coming back soon to try more items on the menu!

Yelp
We've been here a few times now and we are consistently served amazing, fresh, high quality seafood. We enjoy the various Asian dishes because let's be honest there's not much in terms of Asian food in Sonoma. The service is very friendly. The whole place is cute. I especially love the clam chowder. We will be back!

Yelp
3.5 STARS If you're going out for seafood, you already know it's going to be cha-ching. Unless you want a free detox with the Hershey squirts, you can't cheap out. Valley Swim Club is a new casual seafood shack in Sonoma from the owners of Valley Bar + Bottle. Tho, it's casual counter service, they charge $$-$$$ sit-down restaurant prices...a snack for two was $60 (post-tip). But, it doesn't seem to stop locals because it was poppin' on a Tuesday. The parking lot was full. And, my friend had to hover for an open table while I waited in line to order. So def recommend visiting during off peak hours. They're open for takeout and dine-in. Most of the seating is outdoors (dog-friendly) which is why we visited before heading back to the city. M E N U American seafood: Snacks, salads, sandwiches, and plates. Beer and wine available. Based on the food I saw on neighboring tables, if you're looking for value, stick with their cod sandwich ($16, no side). Their poke bowl ($24) looks like the ones from fast-casual poke shops w/ little ahi, cucumbers, green onions, and furikake but at a high mark-up. 2% wellness charge added to all bills. D R I N K * Sour Cherry Lemonade ($6) Not my drink so didn't try it. F O O D * Fried Whole Belly Clams ($20): https://tinyurl.com/378fefxf Hot, golden brown, crunchy-chewy deliciousness. Great fry with light batter, not greasy or heavy. Served with a creamy, zesty tarter sauce. GET THIS! * Spicy Peel 'N Eat Shrimp (4 pc - $20) A special of the day, the shrimp were large, plump, and tender but the sauce was barely spicy and one note in flavor. IMO, at $5/apiece, it was a poor value. S E R V I C E Friendly and prompt. Order at the counter, grab a number placard, and seat yourself. Your food will be delivered to you and they'll bus your table after you're finished. There's a self-serve water station with condiments. A M B I A N C E Spacious, partially covered patio overlooking the grassy fields. Once you can snag the seat, it was relaxing to enjoy the picturesque backdrop. But, can we talk about their chairs? They're hella clunky and heavy...it felt like moving a bookcase. There's only one restroom stall (outside) so had to wait a bit. P A R K I N G They have their own private lot but it was full on a weekday. Overall, I have mixed feelings about Swim Valley Club. I will gladly pay $$$ for good food and I know seafood ain't cheap but their price points are too high for a fast casual model and small portions. BUT, they seem to be already a hit with the locals. If you visit, def get the fried whole belly clams!

Yelp
Finally checked out after reading about this place in the paper. Cute ambiance. I always feel a bit rushed at places that give you a menu at the check out station without having it on the wall to read as well. Went for the tuna melt special, cod sandwich, side of fries and a can of a Stillwater Lager. Ample seating that was tidy and with enough propane heaters to keep you warm. Food came as fast as practical. Cod sandwich was the right amount of oily and crispiness with a perfect spicy kick. Would definitely recommend. The tuna melts cheese was not melted all the way and was lacking in flavor. This is often one of my go to sandwiches and I would not get this again here. Fries were seasoned well, not too soft or crispy. I do love that the sandwiches came with potato chips. Overall, not worth the drive for me as I live out of town. But if I want some fish & chips next time I'm in Sonoma, I'd try it again.

Yelp
Delicious and creative dishes skillfully prepared in a cozy, sun drenched setting. No life guard on duty.

Yelp
Went by here and got turned off by the prices for fried foods. Dang you gotta have a lot of cash to eat lunch out these days. $20 for a burger? $24 for fish and chips seems steep for pedestrian greasy food no matter how fantastic.

Yelp
Cute spot! We came on a super hot day so when I arrived and realized their indoor seating was like 1 table for 6 people and the table was already taken, ugh I died a little inside. So dramatic I know but it's very hot these days. We still decided to eat there as they had a very cute patio outside. We were lucky enough to get a coveted table in the shade. Otherwise the options are tables in the sun but with misters on. (And misters are a nice idea for not eating but when I am eating, I don't want random droplets on my food) Menu is a little vague. They had daily specials but I had to ask for more details. Ended up forgetting what they were so went with what sounded refreshing: Pink shrimp roll with slaw on the side. Delicious on a hot day. Flavorful and slaw was the right side. It coulda had a better shrimp to bread roll ratio but whatcha gonna do. Fried oysters appetizer. So good. Get it. So hot and meaty and crispy. Chefs kiss! Kiddie burger. Pricey for a small burger that came with no fries or side. Still a very delicious burger that my sons devoured. It had a hearty portion of melted cheese on it too. Fried fish sando. Nicely fried and had a spicy slaw inside. We got this with a side of fries and maybe it was so hot that it took the joy out of fries but the fries were just ok. They had soft serve I was curious about but my kids were already melting so we'll have to try it next time.

Yelp
I visited VSC for the first time today. I used to frequent the previous restaurant and missed having something close to home. Staff was friendly as we came in and provided us with menus. They also told us about the specials. My mom and I both ordered the spicy tuna bowl and I would rate it 4.5 out of 5. I viewed this place as a location where I could go to lunch but paying $26 seemed a bit much. And I left hungry! The sodas we got were $6 & $4 which seemed to be a bit much. I think this restaurant is catering more towards tourists than locals. Also, what's a wellness charge? I probably won't be going back but I do wish them a lot of success.

Yelp
I want this restaurant to do well, but they need serious help with their menu. Cod sandwich had no salt and had to be taken home in a to-go box to be re-cooked and seasoned. The other fish sandwich was not remarkable, Also the buns used on both were not great and everything slid out everywhere, which would be okay, IF it was delicious. Slaw had very little acidity, for balance, so basically not good. I would come back here in warmer weather if their kitchen got it in line and gave customers some value for their money. Otherwise, no.

Yelp
Located in the former Delicious Dish location on Arnold Drive, Valley Swim Club offers a West Coast take on a typical New England seafood shack. At this fast casual establishment, the team behind Valley Bar and Bottle more successfully applies the counter service model, which is not appropriate for their other supposedly more upscale operation. With very little renovation from the previous incarnation, the dining room consists of a semi-enclosed concrete patio with hard wooden chairs and tables. Uncomfortably frigid in winter despite a few heaters, the venue leaves one longing for warmer summer days. Overlooking a field barren except for a barbed wire fence, the view does little to help the atmosphere. The limited menu has many of the offerings that you would find at a typical roadside stand on Cape Cod: clam chowder, fried oyster roll, battered cod sandwich and the like. Typical of projects from Emma Lipp, Stephanie Reagor, Lauren Feldman and Tanner Walle, prices are high, so watch your wallet. Served with potato chips, the Valley smashburger ($18, seriously?) was quite good, although the meat patty was rather small. Simply presented with white American cheese, lettuce, onion and "swim sauce" (seemingly a type of aioli), it was true to its roots. Crispy and not oily, the fried oyster mushrooms ($14) were a delicious appetizer and disappeared all too quickly. The sweet potato fries ($6) were less crisp, but still OK. Consisting simply of sushi-grade tuna mixed with nori and cucumber and topped with sesame seeds, the spicy poke bowl ($26, ouch!) was unimaginative. For the price, the portion was minuscule: do not plan on sharing, or you will leave hungry. More appropriate for lunch than dinner and definitely much more pleasurable in summer than winter, Valley Swim Club is fine, but with prices that are too high for a fast casual roadside shack with small portions.

John N.

Yelp
I am a local and expected decent food at reasonable prices. The menu selection was very good. i had the shrimp tostada, while fresh and tasty, a small size for the price! The patio was fine for the fall, but the winter with wind and rain may be a problem. There was also a "wellness charge" of 2% of the bill, unacceptable. I was hoping to bring visitors to this place but will not be coming back.
google avatar

India M.

Yelp
The dishes we ordered were so basic I wished I would have gone to Whole Foods for a poke bowl instead. For $26 and the portion size, it is really not worth it. Flavor was algo too vinegary. Same thing for the chicken teriyaki, nothing special and small portion. My boyfriend did not like how the rice was drenched in sauce. I think the soup tasted especially better after trying our entrees. Cookie and pastry were disappointing. IMO this place is not the local restaurant we were hoping for. Maybe there are certain dishes that don't disappoint, wish I would have ordered something different.

Yelp
New restaurant in town so we decided to go for lunch today. I usually like to wait a month or so after a restaurant opens up to let them work out the kinks but my hubby is from the east coast and as soon as I showed him the menu he wanted to go and try it out! East Coast style seafood shack! You order at the counter and then go seat yourself on their back patio. They also have a few seats inside. The staff were really friendly which is always a plus. We ordered the Fried whole belly clams. Hubby said they reminded him of what he would get in the north east. Delicious!!! We also ordered their battered cod sandwich which was soooo good. It's topped with a coleslaw that had a little pickled jalapeño kick. Washed it down with a local IPA from Sonoma springs. Looking forward to coming back and trying out some other menu items.

Yelp
Valley Swim Club just opened this week. It has nothing to do with swimming or pools, but a seafood restaurant. My wife and I visited 3 days after they opened. They have a smaller menu, which I prefer for a seafood spot. Easier to keep things fresh. The service was great. Very friendly staff. You order at the counter and get a number. Food is then brought out to you. We had: Fried oyster mushrooms - 5/5. Nicely fried mushrooms with a tartar sauce Fried cod sandwich 4/5. Great fresh tasting cod. The batter wasn't too thick. The sauce and soggy coleslaw made the bottom bun a bit mushy though. Steamed clams 3/5. The clams were fresh and very good. The noodles were not dry pasta but tasted homemade. The problem was that there was a third of an inch of butter/oil in the bottom of the pan. It was just really greasy and heavy. A lighter sauce and some veggies would have made this an amazing dish. I thought this place was great. Prices were reasonable. I hope they expand their menu to have lighter offerings. Being inspired by the East Coast Seafood scene, I would have loved to get more steamed seafood, clam bake style. Overall I was happy and I'll be back.

Yelp
A fun restaurant. Food is good. Service is excellent. Some unique beers and sodas. You can inside or out. Good place for a light lunch

Yelp
Went on my lunch, had the cheeseburger and fries. I asked for a double as it was an option on the menu. Got served quickly and the food was very tasty. The fries were phenomenal. I didn't get a drink I just had their water. The burger patties I believe tasted like grass fed beef. Very difficult to keep moist and has a slightly gamey taste. $32 for the meal after tip. I'd like to go back and try their fish and chips.

Yelp
I have been here twice now, each time with a group. It is great for groups who don't want to share a bill, because you order up front and pay first. #1) The food is delicious, seasoned to perfection, and cooked brilliantly. #2) The whole place has been revamped and the decor is hip, fresh, and reminds you of a beach spot (hence the name). #3) The service was good, and it's clear that the owners and employees take pride in their work. #4) It is a casual- counter order, sit down (mostly patio seating) and wait with your table number for your food to be delivered system. Grab your own utensils and water. #5) Here's the kicker for me, it just comes down to prices. Everything is A la carte. The burger was great, but it was 18 dollars by itself, and if you wanted a slice of tomato, it was $2.00 more. Fries? Even more. Iced tea? $6 with no refills. Now I get it, if people are willing to pay, let them! It's Sonoma! However, I'm a big believer in making people feel good about their purchases. Nothing about the portion sizes (tiny cup o' fries) or lack of tomato made me feel good, and I don't even like tomatoes! So otherwise, food alone= 5-stars!
google avatar

Kira F.

Yelp
The service was amazing, the staff were super kind and friendly. The ambiance reminds me of when I would go to the country club and order food for lunch while I was swimming for the day. And parents were playing golf. Our food was delicious we tried the clam chowder it was very good I like a little more seasonings but it was thick and the amount of clams and potatoes YUM. Smash burger on soft brioche bun that was buttered on the grill so good. Tomato, lettuce, onions, and smash sauce. The meat was so tasty can not wait to get this again. French fries tasted like they were hand cut and cooked. Spicy tuna bowl I don't know what to say warm rice, crisp cold cucumbers and tuna that melts in your mouth with sesame seeds and julienned seaweed on top. This is my favorite go to always. Chocolate chips cookies are soft and delicious it was brown sugar forward I loved them.
google avatar

Kris L.

Yelp
Food was okay but the yapping dog who barked whenever it was triggered throughout our dinner ruined our experience! Service dogs don't bark like that, they are trained! I would have ordered another bottle of wine if it weren't for the dog...maybe not let customers pets who are not behaved dine in. Won't be back because of this, staff should have handled this but they just ignored it!

Yelp
I was so happy and eager to have this place open up near our home. Their other restaurant in Sonoma had already become one of our favorites. It is with upmost regret that I have to report the management team has really disappointed me at Valley Swim Club. I have dined there about half a dozen times, and was generally very pleased with the food, the beverages and the staff. The last time we went, there were five of us. It was a very hot day. Three of our party had eaten a fried clams dish that was on the daily menu. Two of those people, came down sick within minutes. My friend actually passed out in front of the restroom door onto a concrete pad. The staff came running and told us your friend passed out. While he was being attended to by the emergency medical team one of the other persons that ate the clams felt ill and dizzy. He was also attended to by the emt's. I was the third party and I did not come down with any symptoms for about 4 hours. The response was negative by management. They expressed the generic sorry for your troubles, but we feel no culpability. I could go on into minutia, but I just have to say bad response indicating they really have a lack of care about their customers. All of us are finished with them and we have to give them an F as an establishment to support. We are very sorry to do this, but their response deserves no better.

Yelp
So we've been anxious to try this place ever since we're heard about it because they have whole belly clams. He can't get them anywhere except for the east coast and that's where we're from. So it took a little lovely drive today and yes they were very very good. Everyone that works there is very happy and friendly which is really nice they have a lovely outdoor patio. Apparently there are several other things on the menu that are really good so we'll have to come back and try it it's really a very nice place. We did want to call in advance to see if they were dog friendly but they don't have a phone number they're trying to concentrate on their guests. But they are dog friendly just so you know definitely stop by it's a very popular place already

Yelp
This place is well meaning and a plus to the Valley. It one of those places that I wish there were long tables, because everyone I've seen there looks like they are good conversationalists. We ordered something that was so salty the we could not eat it, and when they saw that it was not eaten, they took it off the tab with a smile. Now that is class. And in no way or form a dis to the food. It just wasn't our thing and they went good on it. That's rare now a days. Bravo. Go. Here's a little coaching for you and the management. If you are going to order from the counter, then put up the whole menu and the specials on the board behind the counter. Ditch the menus because they are distracting because you have to step aside and then go between the two pieces of information. As my Grandmother used to say, you can't sit down between two chairs. I'm rooting for them.

Yelp
I was nervous when I heard Valley (a place we love so much we call it our clubhouse) was opening a New England style clam shack. I'm from Cape Cod and notoriously picky and judgmental when it comes to seafood, and the thought of having to tell friends I didn't like something they were so passionate about gave me goosebumps. Well, I needn't have worried, as the Valley crew has hit it out of the park with Swim Club. The fried clams -- whole belly, no silly rubber strips here -- are perfection. Crispy, sweet, and fresh tasting. Not something you can fake! The cod sandwich is honestly just as good... A buttery brioche bun with impeccable tartar sauce, flaky and moist without being greasy and showing some California flair with a hint of heat. The clam chowder, however, is what we need to talk about. For any chef to tackle making a regional staple their own while staying true to the original's pedigree requires a rare touch. Even back home in New England this is a risky move, one that more often than not ends with a milky splatter of derision and disappointment. When I heard they'd added chowder to the specials board I went on a mid-week mid-afternoon to try it. I knew it'd be slow and I'd be unlikely to see anyone I knew. What if it sucked? TL/DR Emma and Steph nailed it. It's creamy but not heavy, chunky without being overwhelming, perfectly portioned with pieces of tender clams and even comes with proper oyster crackers (though the pro move is to get it with their 'Paulie' buns, a take on classic Parker House Rolls). Overall, it's in the top five chowders I've ever had, and if you ever see me you'll know that's an arena I have some experience in. Swim Club has become my antidote to a homesickness I previously couldn't assuage without a pricy plane ticket, and for that I can't thank 'em enough.

Diana L.

Yelp
What a fun place! We went for lunch, had the delicious clam chowder, full of clams, more brothy than thick and creamy, which we loved. We also tried the fried oyster sandwich with the best fries ever. Service was super-friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Finally tried this place for lunch but having not had great reviews from friends who went here recently, I was concerned. I had the clam chowder and, I thought it was delicious. However, the reason I gave 4stars was because it was cold outside eating and my clam chowder was cold within 5 minutes. The chairs were too heavy and like a solid piece of wood; heavy to lift and being careful not to bump into the sharp hard corners. The view of the field was lovely. But main complaint is that you're basically eating outside and the food will get cold fast. I will try there again as they said they were going to add some coverage over the roof.

Yelp
I want to start with the fact I have eaten there at least 20 times and always had a great experience. This last encounter was nothing close. I went with a co-worker for lunch. We ordered, and noticed that people after us were getting food. After about 30 minutes, I went to the counter and was told our food was up next. More food coming out, not ours, a table of 8 served that came in way after us, 45 minutes, no food. (Please note we ordered a sandwich and salad) I went back to the counter at the hour mark and was told there was some issue. Another 10 minutes went by and I asked for the food to be "to go" as we needed to get back to work. The ATTITUDE I got from the people behind the counter was uncalled for... that attitude made me furious, and so I began speaking loudly about how long does it take to make a salad and sandwich. I asked for my money back, and more attitude. Finally (now at 1 hour and 15 minutes since we ordered) the food came out in a paper bag and was dropped onto the counter.. I would say thrown, but dropped is more accurate. I took the food and left. Needless to say, because of how we were treated, we decided not to eat the food for fear that they may have done something to it. So sad to have been treated like this with no real explanation, or anything. I will never recommend or return, and it's a shame to treat customers like this.

Yelp
Lunch was great and the atmosphere was fun! You order at the counter and they bring you your food. The staff is very friendly. The battered cod sandwich gets an A+++

Yelp
Went to a wonderful event last week featuring Rancho Gordo from Napa. First time. It's really nice to have an excellent eatery at this location. Can tell by the attendance of cars often, others think so too! Menu was superb, Spanish bubbly great. Excellent service from Pablo. Certainly will not be my last time.

Yelp
Food was very good!! Seafood; fried clam strips, clams and linguini, shrimp roll!! my portion on the shrimp roll was perfect but my husband thought the clams and linguine was a small portion . Quick and hospitable service! My concern is that there is not much ambiance in the OUTSIDE dining area!!! Cold and cold!

Yelp
I just started eating fish the last few years and this restaurant has me trying all kinds of new dishes! My FAVORITE is their battered cod sandwich! The slaw that goes on it it the best I've had, probably because of the capers! Every bite was outstanding. Last time, my partner had the shrimp fried rice, which was the special of the day and that was phenomenal! The rice was the PERFECT amount of crunchiness and the shrimp perfectly cooked. Every dish I have had here is perfection!

Yelp
I tried Valley Swim Club yesterday....we've all been waiting for a Clam Shack here in Sonoma with other Seafood. I got the Fried Clam appetizer which was $20 and they have 2 canned beers...I got the Kolch for $9.00 So with tax and tip I paid a little over $35!! Way too high for me! The Clams were a very small portion..I should have taken a picture. They used a cornmeal batter that was mushy and didn't taste fried enough. The Clams really had no flavor so I drenched them in Lemon and Tarter Sauce. I was disappointed I watched as the orders came out and even the entrees looked very small portioned for the price! The temperature inside was very cold and the view was of an old field with nothing on it but a barbed wire fence. The patio had space heaters but there is so much more they can do to make it feel more homey so to speak. The inside is more like a gift shop with no decor at all and you order at the register before sitting down which is fine but doesn't give you much time to decide on what to get. The girl at the register was very friendly but she had her stick going on and would basically say the same thing to each customer so it came off rehearsed and like a sales pitch. So once again I'm in search of a good seafood restaurant that's affordable here in Sonoma if there is such a thing anymore.

Yelp
Everything was seasoned to Perfection!! Really chill place, good for friends and family. Order and sit, staff will bring out your food. Staff still comes around to make sure you have what you need. Enclosed patio for seating with lots of heating, but a spare jacket wouldn't hurt. Good food is here and waiting.

Yelp
The staff and owners are great! The food is fabulous, I really think the cod sandwich is a true standout. Tuesday night is locals night, with no corkage fees. It's fabulous in the summer, but cozy even now, they have tons of heat lamps! They have now added options of multiple sides with burger, sandwiches. Dog friendly as well! My new fave place!

Yelp
I went a few months back shortly after they had opened. The food is fresh, but I can't say it was outstanding or even memorable, given the hefty tab. The portions and the cost do not match up. I do hope they pay attention to the comments of other diners who express the same sentiments. The atmosphere is pleasant, but seating is basically outside. If you don't mind the hefty price tag, it's a nice place to have lunch on a sunny day.

Yelp
OK, so, I've heard nothing but rave reviews about this restaurant. I've never eaten here before today. First, this is a walk up to the counter and order your food place, like McDonalds, second I realized that there were several dishes on the online menu that weren't offered at the restaurant. I came to Valley Swim Club because of the online menu that offered things that weren't on the actual restaurant menu. That was a disappointment. Resigned to the current restaurant menu, my friend and I both ordered the fish and chips, one of those decadent dishes you only order now and then, like biscuits and gravy. The serving of fish was the size or a small trout! However, the crispy batter on it and the fish itself were both remarkably tasteless, the "chips" were limp french fries and the coleslaw tasted like multi colored cabbage doused in vinegar. Ugh. Two orders of that, plus two tiny glasses of wine with the tip was $100. $100??? Seriously?? That was a $50 meal at best. The furniture in the primarily outside seating area is heavy and hard to move. Like, you can't move your 75lb chair without a lot of effort. The food was bad and the semi outdoor seating was cold. I'm giving this place 2 stars and not 1 because the view from the outdoor seating area is lovely.

Yelp
Went to the swim club tonight, it's super cute, nice menu but a little pricey. One app whole belly clams ( they were excellent) , two poke bowels (very average) and two ice teas over $100.00 with tip. Our friend had a glass of wine that had to the worst wine we had ever had! This is wine country after all. It's new so I hope it improves with some of it short comings. Right know I would come back for clams and bring my own wine.

Yelp
My husband and I went here for the first time. It's located where Rob's Rib Shack was on Arnold Drive. They have completely renovated the building and patio area where you dine. Service was terrific. Staff and owner were wonderful. We ordered cod sandwiches which were perfectly battered and served on a soft bun. The cod was fresh and tasty. The couple next to us had fried clams and a burger that looked delicious. The large patio was full which shows how a seafood restaurant is very popular. We wish them success and will definitely return.

Yelp
It's light, clean and airy, most seating us outdoors, and there isn't a lot of seating. It was crowded at lunch on Saturday. We split the sunshine salad and trout sandwich, which was a special. Both were delicious and serving sizes were plenty to share. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Service was very friendly.

Yelp
The Clam Chowder and the Valley Smash Burger were amazing tonight! Love this place. Well-behaved dogs are also welcomed :-).

Yelp
Been twice now and both times we loved everything we ordered. Fried clams, fried mushrooms, cod sandwich, burger and trout. Service is fast.

Yelp
The view was nice, but the chair was uncomfortable. Oyster sandwich was just ok - the oysters didn't taste fresh. And we had to ask for ice in our glass of warm water.

Yelp
We had a party of 5 adults and a toddler needing a high chair. It was about 7:00 pm, on a very hot Saturday. Patio was packed and we had to find our own table, which meant we had to hover around someone that looked like they'd be leaving soon. Two wait staff were gracious in offering to clean the table so we could finally be seated. I knew the table was clean (I saw them wipe it down) but the lacquer on the wooden tables is pretty sticky. It bugged me the whole meal. So now that we're seated we could view the menus we took to the table but then had to go to the counter to order it. The Specials are not on the menu, only on the board at the counter inside. So the only one that got to order a special dish was me, the one that got up to place our party's order. I will say that the food was pretty good but the servings are small. And the prices are disproportionately high. Everyone in our party said they felt their servings were small. The wine pours are not generous and a glass of rose (yum Scribe rose) was $15. My daughter said her "Mexican plate with chicken" tasted like olive oil was drizzled over the entire plate. I had the carnitas tacos and they were very greasy (but yes, pork is greasy). I do get to dine out often and I'm aware that prices are higher now. But this was not a meal I'd brag about getting value for my dollar. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Yelp
We live close by and honestly not sure how it took us so long to finally visit Valley Swim Club. My husband and I eat out a lot, or at least we use to before we had a baby, and wow, wow - this spot is legit. We were both totally blown away by our meal. Had the shrimp tostadas (amazing), chicken teriyaki (very good) and burger (out of this world) the staff was super friendly and you can't find a more chill or relaxing venue in town for a meal - while also being kid friendly. Looking forward to our next visit, and for any locals who have been delaying a visit - this is your sign to go!

Yelp
Get a phone number! Us old folks would like to talk to a real person to order takeout. Everything we ordered was way toooo salty ! Including clam chowder which would have been delicious otherwise. The fish in fish and chips was under cooked. The 2 small pescadillas were not worth $16. Could not give owners my opinion by phone, so here it is on Yelp. Give us your phone number!
