All The Restaurants Featured In The Bear, Ranked - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Vienna Beef makes hot dogs that are consumed far beyond Chicagoland, and the season three montage has a brief glimpse to how these encased meats are packaged. While we’ve yet to eat a hot dog inside this Bridgeport plant, Vienna Beef has a factory store and counter right across the street. You can enjoy a spicy and snappy Maxwell for just $5, and watch another part of the Vienna Beef process—employees packing semi-trucks with boxes of hot dogs, a form of real-life Tetris." - adrian kane, nick allen

Vienna Beef Factory Store - Review - Bridgeport - Chicago - The Infatuation

"If you’ve had a hot dog in Chicago (or many places in the U.S.), chances are it was of the Vienna Beef variety. And this well-known meat supplier has its own hot dog stand in Bridgeport directly across from its main distribution plant, where you can eat classic dogs while shopping for your next cookout. Get a spicy and snappy Maxwell polish for $5, grab a seat at one of the many outdoor tables, and watch as semi-trucks play their own version of Tetris in the street." - Veda Kilaru

The Best Hot Dogs in Chicago | Bon Appétit

"Founded by Austrian-Hungarian immigrants who began selling franks at the 1893 World’s Fair, this factory-run stand is essentially the gold standard for a by-the-book Chicago dog: a natural-casing frankfurter with a satisfying snap, piled with mustard, onions, tomato slices, neon-green relish, a pickle spear, sport peppers, and celery salt. While the menu also lists Italian beef, Polish sausages, and Reubens, most visitors come specifically for the perfectly executed dog and often buy a package of the hard-to-find natural-casing frankfurters from the refrigerated case to take home." - ByDennis Lee

Google
3.5 stars. I got the Chicago style Spicy Polish (great taste) and Italian beef (flavor was lacking and meat was rubbery bouncy overdone) and fries w pepsi. $27.53

Joel Ortez

Google
Great spot to grab some hotdogs. Did not buy anything but large selection of products there. I got the footlong 1/4 lb.

john newquist

Google
Classic Chicago hot dog with poppy seed bun. The dogs are made across the street. Usually onions all over on dogs. These are perfect. Not harsh or soggy. The fries are average.

Google
Vienna Beef Factory Store is the ultimate go-to for a classic, no-nonsense meal. You know exactly what you’re going to get every time-and it’s always fantastic. Chicago-style hot dog? Check. A great 1/3-pound burger? Check. And the speed? Faster than you can blink. It’s always a sure thing, and it never disappoints. Plus, they’ve got everything you need for a quick BBQ in one stop—perfect for stocking up for a backyard cookout. Whether you’re in the mood for a quick bite or prepping for a BBQ, Vienna Beef Factory Store is the place to hit. Highly recommended for quick, reliable, and delicious eats every time!

Google
I give my lowest rating. I ordered a tamale for $2.99. It was the size of a tootsie roll. And a Chicago style hotdog was $5. I haven’t been here in quite some time, but with these prices, I will never return.

Google
Amazing! While I miss the old factory store and museum at Irving and Damen, as this location is much further away, anytime I’m near here this is a must go to. As authentic as you can get. Every dog is constructed beautifully and each bite is delish! The team is super friendly and quick service. Some great stuff to buy in bulk and awesome deli too! Highly recommended and will be back (again and again)!

Google
Had a solid mid‑afternoon bite at Vienna Beef Factory Store & Café. Grabbed a classic Chicago dog and a Maxwell Polish, plus fries and a soda—ran me about $16. The dogs had that perfect snap, toppings were hella fresh, and the girls behind the counter moved quick and were real cool. Décor feels like a casual factory hangout, not fancy—but that’s the vibe. Love the local flavor, but fries were just okay. 4⭐

Yelp
The one on the North Side was basically a showplace before it closed so the store here is the real deal. The factory is right across the street so what you get here gets walked over. The bonus is that it's not only a factory store selling merchandise and goods but they have a stand as well where they have prepared items you can buy as well as a butcher counter. They also have a small section for merch, so basically it's a one stop shop for almost anything Chicago food related. I shopped, first for the grocery items, bought a shirt on impulse and then ordered the hot dog special while I cashed out the items in my shopping basket. I also snagged their last tamale in addition to the dogs I got. I dunno, the tamale was a little bland-maybe it had been steamed too long. Likewise, there was something a little missing about the dogs as well-I think there wasn't enough celery salt on it, which seems like a minor thing but it makes a huge difference.

Yelp
There's truly nothing more Chicago. Whether you're having a lunch or looking for best ingredients to cook Chicago's finest at home - - this is your place. Nothing fancy, but always consistent and fresh. Counter service - indoor bar seating, covered patio or outside.

Yelp
The corned beef Sandwiches are huge . Fresh , fresh . Customer service a 10. Open 9-5 pm I will definitely be back here.
google avatar

Joe B.

Yelp
Highly recommended! Top quality. You could not find it any fresher than from across the street from the manufacturer. Wide range crowd, but always friendly. Pastrami on Rye is to die for. Back it up with a Chicago style Hot Dog. Natural Casing of course.

Yelp
The Vienna Beef Factory Store is one of those places you have to stop by, whether you're a Chicago native or a tourist. How can you pass up an opportunity to try out some great Chicago eats, directly from the source! Located right across from the actual Vienna meat distribution plant, you can order from their modest menu of Chicago-style hot dogs, jumbo dogs, chili dogs, Polish, Italian beef, corned beef sandwich, pastrami sandwich, brisket, and burgers. There are also Vienna Beef products that you can purchase, from frozen and fresh foods, condiments, and to apparel. I had their Chili Dog and their Spicy Polish, and, oh boy, these were sooo delicious! They came out piping out! The Chili Dog was loaded with chili, and the Spicy Polish had a kick. Both dogs were super juicy and had a great snap, and had that great, Vienna beefy flavor. The food was just sooo fresh and tasty! I also tried the Tom Tom Tamale, which is another Chicago favorite, but I personally was not a fan - it was just too grainy and had an off taste to it. Service was friendly, and the line moved along quickly. There isn't seating inside, but there are plenty of tables outside for an al fresco dining experience. Plenty of parking, too, in their private lot. +Chili Dog +outdoor seating available +plenty of parking in private lot

Yelp
I absolutely love Vienna beef, Polish and hotdogs. I've been to the one on the north side, as well. They are so good! Everything Vienna makes is delicious.

Dedra B.

Yelp
So disappointed.. I've always loved the Turkey pastrami sandwiches.. Today we ordered a couple of sandwiches and the fries were old burnt and had a weird aftertaste! Tossed them straight in the trash..Please check your food before leaving to make sure your items are fresh.. I would never serve a paying customer food like this.
google avatar

Alice K.

Yelp
Always wanted to try this place. Not disappointed. We had a Polish, hot dog, fries and Italian beef. Very tasty. Check out their daily specials. It is very busy during lunch, after one it slows down. Give this place a try.
google avatar

Jessie M.

Yelp
Great hotdog! The service was fine, and the ambiance was just what you'd expect of a fast food place-people minding their business while eating lunch. If you want a Chicago hotdog and are in the area, I would definitely encourage you to stop here. Plus, they're cheaper than anything you'll find in the city. They also sell packaged meats and other goods.
google avatar

Bob K.

Yelp
Vienna is a well known meat supplier and well known for their Chicago style hot dogs. This is a factory store with the warehouse across the street. Food is great, fast and has bench seating outside or a pull-up stools at the inside counter/window. Vienna definitely has a great hot dog and what better a place to get one but at the warehouse store.
google avatar

Christian L.

Yelp
The dogs were great. I really liked the spicy Polish but the meats available! My lord I had the vapors. It was a literal sausage party for me. They should have a fainting couch just in case.
google avatar

Miss M.

Yelp
Customer service is always excellent! Been coming here for years! However when I order my food from time to time the fry boxes are not filled. ESP for $5 chili cheese fries my box is half empty . I took a pic for clarity .. maybe you guys should invest in smaller boxes.

Kirsten K.

Yelp
Fresh sliced corned beef, friendly staff, did I say fresh sliced corned beef? You can purchase corned beef to cook at home as well. . Hot dogs of course and they carry frozen Cheli's Chili which is a must buy. Yummy
google avatar

William M.

Yelp
Great great place!!! The food is awesome!! I especially would recommend the spicy polish and the corned beef sandwich!! Very good food and very fast and friendly service!!! A+++
google avatar

Maddi V.

Yelp
This is a chicago classic. It has no frills, but just good, reasonably priced food - a great spot for a casual lunch. They also have a great selection of sausages, hot dogs and other Vienna beef products for a cookout, along with some fun apparel to show your Vienna beef pride if you're a hot dog connoisseur.
google avatar

Mike G.

Yelp
Vienna Beef is no doubt a Chicago staple, so I'm happy their factory store is close to my home. I've been to this location several times and the staff is friendly & efficient. There's always a line but never too long of a wait which is always nice. Their Chicago style hot dogs is king and delicious. I have yet to try their other menu items but I definitely will when I go back here.
google avatar

Ana R.

Yelp
What a deal! Less than eight dollars for a freshly made meal which includes two hotdogs with the works, french fries, and a soda or as Chicagoans love to say, "pop." Nothing fancy, just fresh, which made our meal so wonderfully good and a clean place with happy workers. What an anomaly in this "post" pandemic World. Parking is easy, ordering is easy, the good life when it comes to this fast food factory store. We at outside under a well-made canopy, nice. Also, buy uncooked fresh hotdogs for your parties and holiday BBQs. Oh, did I mention cream soda?

James N.

Yelp
Compared to others on the list their corned beef is tough and chewy and dry. MAnny's I soooo much better.

Barry Y.

Yelp
Great place to grab a quick lunch and not break the bank, not very pricey like other places

Toni M.

Yelp
I'll start by saying I went there to pick up items for a party, not eat. Boy was I surprised, I assumed "factory store" ment discounted prices on basic items. I was actually shocked! All the items I had planned on purchasing were at least $3 more per item there than they are at Jewel. I think they need to re name their store... So sad, really miss the old place on Damen.. Save yourself a trip shop you closest local store..
google avatar

Jaime S.

Yelp
What can you say about this place only that it is Chicago through and through. I skipped my lunch and it was already 3 PM and I stopped in to grab a quick hotdog, I ordered a jumbo dog with extra sport peppers of course everything on it. I was starving Marvin, I bit into my dog and it was overcooked. Nine times out of 10 I just would've eaten my lunch and been on my way, but I decided to go back in and share my disappointment. I discreetly ask for the manager and mentioned to him that my dog was overcooked, it didn't have the snap that you expect from a Chicago Vienna beef hotdog. I mentioned to him that I worked in various of hot dog joints around the city so I know what "over cooked" looks and tastes like. He winked at me and Angie ushered to get me my meal hot and fresh including an order of french fries that I did not order previously. It was then that I realized I didn't have anything ready for dinner, so I picked up an Italian beef kit With some Vienna beef rolls. Turn to be a Great visit. Come check them out! Oh by the way, Angie gave me a swag bag to take my dinner home in. Giddyup!

Steven B.

Yelp
Outstanding Vienna beef has always been an outstanding place. I've been coming here for 40 years.
google avatar

Yelp
Smallish hot dog stand adjacent to the plant on the corner of Pershing & Morgan... it's always busy! Straight forward menu of hot dogs, jumbos, burgers & sausages/brats. They have a grill if you want your grub char grilled! Dogs are served traditional "Chicago Style" with quality ingredients and are encased, very good. The Polish Sausages are also exceptional and cooked on the grill. They have a daily special and service is quick! Must try if in area... an actual legit hot dog joint in a disappearing era. Talk later

John K.

Yelp
Corn dogs are bomb, and I love that they have cream soda as a drink option. On my 3rd visit I made the mistake of veering from the corn dogs; Jumbo dogs were DISGUSTING and not even warm, let alone hot all the way through. Tossed them both in the trash, so $10 down the drain. Maybe I should have tried the foot long instead-- today's special. Fries are mediocre and hit or miss. Guy at register doesn't seem at all happy to be there. Prices are way too high to make this a more frequent lunch spot, but I'll still go when I'm craving a corn dog. Turkey chili wasn't good, but I'd still like to try the beef chili sometime.
google avatar

Esmeralda R.

Yelp
Love coming here to buy a pack of hotdogs for my cookouts. Hot dogs are great!!! I bought the polish dogs for $12.95 . The service was great. I needed help choosing the dogs, and the cashier helped me pick and explained the difference between polish and regular hotdogs. Interior was clean. I will go back!
google avatar

Daniel Y.

Yelp
I visited the new location in Bridgeport, and I was expecting it to just sell hot dogs. Little did I know that Vienna Beef sells a myriad of other items. They serve up sandwiches too! When I went, it was a busy lunch crowd, and I ordered a brisket sandwich. Service was fast, but prices are a tad high compared to similar joints like Johnny O's and 35th Street Red Hots. Sandwiches were approximately $7.99 and up. My brisket sandwich was delicious. The server was nice enough to ask, if I wanted BBQ sauce on it or on the side. If you're looking for Vienna Beef products for your next BBQ, this is the place to go. They have bread, the meats, and even refrigerated bags all for sale, so stock up!

Yelp
A good spot for a Chicago style hot dog and across the street from Vienna Beef's factory. Service is quick and limited dine in seating is available. They have a small parking lot shared with the BP gas station next door. Make sure to order a Chicago Style hot dog, but don't add ketchup because it is a crime within city limits. Their Chili dog is rather plain and their spicy Polish dog is not made as it should be which were disappointing. A Polish dog is not supposed to be smothered by tomatoes. Memo's in Pilsen has much tastier Chili and Polish hot dogs, and is still my favorite for best hot dogs in town.

Kevin D.

Yelp
Good food is delightful. The service and its presentation brings on the flavors I expect to taste as I bite into a good freaking Vienna beef hotdog, Chicago style. I've been going to this spot for a loooonnnngggg time but today I was somewhat disappointed. Leslie! Where art thou? Today's service sucked and the hotdog were sloppy, I mean terribly assembled.... Meaning a lot of missed onions and relish ... it's as though they didn't care. It's time to DX or recycle the crew. I had some sorry dogs today .

Valentina S.

Yelp
I came in for a quick bite to go. The Chicago style hot dog was good and was still warm when I got home. The pickle made the bun soggy but nothing you can do it about that. The fries were okay, though not warm. They are doing a good job with social distancing and providing hand sanitizers. I'd go again if I'm in the area and would like a hot dog.
google avatar

Hball B.

Yelp
Amazing amazing amazing best corned beef sandwich other than manny's chili cheese dogs are amazing and I even took a box of skinless franks home it's a great place to go specially if you have visitors from out of town to show them Chicago's dogs are NUMBER ONE HANDS DOWN
google avatar

TaTaNisha S.

Yelp
I've been here several times and I always get the turkey pastrami. The food is great and the service was good until today when I ordered just fries and cheese and the lady who handles the money literally stopped ringing and went to prepare my food. Didn't walk away to wash her hands or grab some gloves even. ADMIST A PANDEMIC !!! Very disappointed don't think I'll return I'm sure I can find a good turkey pastrami somewhere cleaner.
google avatar

Patrick J.

Yelp
Really good Chicago dogs and the very best Chicago Polish sausages you will ever eat. This is the factory store. You cannot get fresher or better. It is cafeteria style. In front of me was a line of construction guys on lunch break

Sheila W.

Yelp
Want a corn beef sandwich but didn't know where to find one on the south side of Chicago, so I goggled it. Found this little gem on 39th and Morgan. The corn beef was awesome ,tender, juicy and very flavorful and the meat was not sliced paper thin . It was a little pricey but worth it. Now the Chicago style hot was another story. It unfortunately was water logged. But I will give them another chance.
google avatar

Carlos S.

Yelp
Absolutely love the Friday special!! Spicy DITKA!! Service is good and friendly. If you're in a rush around lunch time, call your order in. This place is small and gets pretty PACKED at lunch time.
google avatar

Chris R.

Yelp
I mean it's a Vienna hot dog place, it's a Chicago standard. Factory store across from the new southside plant. Probably will spend a few lunches here. Dogs are classic Chicago style, pastrami sandwich hits the spot, add fries and a cup of cheese and I am a happy man. Also can pick up some favorites for home.
google avatar

Jonathan T.

Yelp
I went here two weeks ago with my wife. The Chicago dog and chili dog were amazing. Melt in your mouth hot dogs. The service was great. We will be back.
google avatar

Sarah A.

Yelp
Great food & reasonable prices. Additionally what stood out to me was the customer service. A woman named Denise, I'm not sure if she was the manager or whatnot, was one of the nicest people I have ever met. She had a full on conversation with my 3 year old nephew, whose usually shy. She went above and beyond to make our visit there one of a kind. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone. You can't beat great food plus awesome service.
google avatar

D J.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! Upon exiting your vehicle you can smell the goodness in the air!!!! I had the polish and fries and my friend had the patty melt and fries. We both were very happy!!!
google avatar

Kimberly F.

Yelp
I didn't know they had opened so close to my office. You can get everything you need from this location. They even have merchandise.
google avatar

John V.

Yelp
What better place to get authentic Chicago hot dogs, then the source it self. Hot dogs are tasty, have good crunch. Beef is hella good. Only gripe is that it's a bit on the pricy side.
google avatar

Anthony W.

Yelp
This little fast food place is awesome! The taste just the as it did when I was growing up. The food is cooked as you stand there. The wait time is about 5 minutes at the most.

Luke S.

Yelp
The food is great and the service is good until the blond lady is behind the counter thats when s@&$ hits the fan. Check your order if shes around. The most incompetent person working there.

Art A.

Yelp
Went there when they opened and it was all that. problem is I live too far & shipping orders are too high. Otherwise all is good there!!
google avatar

Ian S.

Yelp
I've been eating Vienna beef hotdogs all my life and I thought they would be the same any other place. Boy was I mistaken, these are the best Vienna beef hotdogs I've ever had! It might be just my imagination but they tasted slightly better than all the Vienna hotdogs I've ever had. Maybe because they're fresh because the store is right next to the Vienna beef plant? Buns were fresh and steamed perfectly, I like all the classic trimmings of a Chicago style dog and all their trimmings were fresh. The fries were cooked just right. I paid close to $7 for 2 hotdogs with fries and a can of coke, just wished they served RC cola, that would've made it a true Chicago hotdog meal. There's no indoor seating but plenty of outdoor picnic tables. Why the four stars you ask? I walked up to the cashier, she didn't even look at me or say "may I help you?" She was actually staring out the window. Then as I dared place an order, she gave me an annoyed attitude. Yikes, I'll still eat there though.

Sammy A.

Yelp
Best hotdogs in Bridgeport next to a grilled dog at Comisky Park. After receiving a Perfectly steamed bun and dog on serval occasions I think this accolade is warranted.

Ken B.

Yelp
I was working near the Vienna factory store. I am from Chicago but now live in Michigan. I was so excited to eat at the factory store restaraunt but I have to admit I left some what disappointed. All the ingredients were on my truly Chicago style hotdog but were sloppily put together. My sandwiches were so wet that the bun completely fell apart. It still tasted ok but was disappointed in the preparation. Considering I was at the holy grail of Chicago hot dogs, I really expected a better meal.

M.J. S.

Yelp
In exile in South Carolina with dreams of a genuine Vienna red hot. Must have cried to my wife a few times, because she gave me the Vienna hot dog kit for Christmas this year. A few other gifts, but this was "the best gift I ever received or would ever receive." (Apologies to Jean Shepherd).

Barry W.

Yelp
I love going to the new store. The quality is excellent. The portion sizes are great and the value is high. I love the hotdogs but often go for the corned beef sandwiches.
