"Open for: Dinner and late night Price range: $$$ The city’s wine aficionados all make their way to Vinho, helmed by sommelier Kim Jin-ho and chef Jeon Seong-bin, a talented duo with experience at Michelin-starred Mingles. Vinho boasts an impressive wine list that rivals the finest restaurants in Seoul, expertly curated to complement the restaurant’s contemporary Asian tasting menu, which features the best seasonal ingredients in dishes like deokja (butterfish) topped with chile leaf namul and pickled green plums, or charcoal-grilled seasonal clams paired with fresh seaweed. Vibe check: For a more laid-back evening, drop by for a la carte options and a few glasses at the bar." - Matty Kim

VINHO

"Co-helmed by Chef Jeon Seong-bin and Sommelier Kim Jin-ho, Vinho features expansive window walls and an open kitchen fronted by an elongated counter. This spatial harmony creates a lively communal wine-and-dine ambiance. The vast wine list, coupled with careful service and food pairing, as well as deep-flavored sauces that exquisitely complement seasonal ingredients, makes the eatery a perfect venue to savor the pinnacle of contemporary cuisine. Its yellowtail tartare, which features dices of yellowtail mixed with sourdough crumbs and poached eggs and then wrapped with slightly grilled romaine, is served with a sauce featuring katsuobushi cream, parsley oil and lemon juice. The sweet and nutty flavor of the sauce provides the ideal accompaniment to the yellowtail’s fresh flavors. Vinho delights in showcasing how wine can heighten the allure of fine cuisine." - Michelin Inspector

Compared to a Michelin star restaurant in SF, I would say this restaurant is like a 3.5/5 star. But hey, what do I know? Regarding consistency in the service, rather than providing consistent service throughout to their customers, it seemed like a local hangout spot where they take care of their locals. I totally get their business model of having to be taken care of their own, but it was a lackluster experience for us as travelers who wanted the good food + service. They have issues with their plumbing, being located in an old building. But just the casual conversations that they were having with their regulars about plumbing was not a really cherry on top of my culinary experience 🤢 Small details are everything. We added the Krut and kalbi bap add-ons. One was missed, but they were nice about it and offered a dessert wine as compensation. All in all, I think experience was overall flat and a mismatch. The food was great quality and excellent. The wine, you can see they are trying to cut corners. Definitely not worth the premium $$$$ they are putting on to match their premium food. You need a balance. Either bring the food quality down, or match the wine experience. One liner synop: the value is not there yet.

We had a fantastic meal at Vinho. Each dish was delicious, but I think the Abalone with Butternut Squash was my favorite. We also did the wine pairing, which was a fun and informative experience. We’ll definitely be back on our next trip to

We had an amazing experience at Vinho Seoul! The staff made us feel very welcome and highly professional. The food was superb, European and Korean savoir fair! Our highlight was the Oyster Ice Cream:) The only improvement I would ask for is warmer lighting for a cozier experience as the white/blue light is a bit steril…

This is hands down our best meal during our 2 week trip to Seoul-Busan-Jeju summer of 2024. Michelin guide mentioned it's a great place for a date night, boy they're quite accurate. Flock to this restaurant before it gets its 2nd or 3rd star, it's a matter of time. Jin-Ho, the somm, is friendly and very helpful in explaining each dish and the wine pairing. It's awesome to see Chef Jeong in action in their open kitchen from the bar counter. Each dish is innovative, pushing the envelope of flavors and artistic expression, fun and edgy in a way. I will definitely return to this spot when I'm in town.

Excellent all the way around: friendly and excellent service, excellent plates of food that keeps on getting better, and a great atmosphere. All of the food was inventive and had a great balance of texture, flavor, and inventiveness. Much better than a lot of 2 Michelin star restaurants we have been to. I would highly recommend before they get their 2 star and become too booked.

Excellent food and atmosphere. Drinks were out of our budget, would have loved to tried and paired with the delicious tasting menu. Will come back again next time we are in Korea. Favourite dish is the Mackerel (surprisingly since I'm not a huge fan of Mackerel).

It didn’t take long to understand why this place has such a high rating. It’s a beautiful venue and I really love the welcome chorus as you walk in ☺️ The wine list is huge and there’s an incredible number of non-alcoholic options. The owner who was hosting everyone that night is absolutely wonderful. So welcoming and friendly and knowledgeable. And it was a delight to watch the kitchen operating directly in front of me, and to watch the synchronised serving and clearing of plates around me. The flavour combinations of the menu were incredible! Oyster and champagne ice cream, soy sauce ice cream and creme brûlée - absolutely amazing. Perfect number of servings and portion sizes. I envy the people who live in the neighbourhood and can just pop down for a late night luxury feed. I hope to return when I am back in Seoul in a few months.

One of the best food experiences in Seoul so far. I really enjoyed the concept and food. It’s so good to have a proper sommelier who can understand your weird explanation and suggest a good wine! Shout out to Jinho. Food was interesting and tasty at the same time. The restaurant has a Michelin star but without “show off effect” which can be too much sometimes. So you feel like home but it’s a very good restaurant! We booked already for August. Highly recommended. P.S.: Knowing that it’s Michelin you’ll be surprised to see that the prices are reasonable.
