"Vive La Tarte, known for its tacro (a taco-folded croissant), opened a kiosk at the Ferry Building in 2017. Due to the pandemic and decreased traffic, the owner, Arnaud Goethals, decided to close this location. The kiosk was initially popular for its Instagrammable treats but struggled with the lack of tourists during the pandemic. Vive La Tarte's goods are now available at its Noe Valley location, and the SoMa location is expected to reopen soon." - Eve Batey

"This is a kiosk/pop-up outpost of the SoMa bakery by the same name, and just like the main location, it serves unreal croissants and pastries. The granola with mango chutney and yogurt is outstanding, too. If you get here around 11am (and before they sell out), try the tacro, a savory croissant-taco experiment that is bizarrely delicious." - Taylor Abrams

The taco croissant was delicious. I got the pork and pineapple, along with the matcha latte with oat milk for $17. The taco croissant is another delicious concoction, from the merging of two tried and true classics. If you are a fan of these type of mashups, you will like this one. It has a good balance of savory and sweet/tart from the pineapple and lime.

Items here are a little bit pricey, but very well executed. I decided on the chicken and avocado croissant shell taco, and it was delicious. The chicken was juicy and cooked well and there was a fine amount of avocado on top. The two salsas that it came with were perfect, the red had the perfect amount of kick that I was looking for.

Unfortunately this place did not live up to the hype. We ordered four tacros today, 12 dollars each. Chicken and avocado was ok. Pulled pork was soggy and wet. We made a special trip into SF just for the Tacros. We parked at the ferry building parking lot across the street because they offer a discount on parking when you get your ticket validated at “any” business in the ferry building. This was not the case for Vive le tarte. After spending 55 dollars including tip, I asked if they could validate our parking ticket. I was told they would not be able to validate parking tickets because they have not been at the ferry building location long enough. The cashier suggested I go buy something from blue bottle coffee co and get my parking ticket validated there instead. I did not come for coffee and I wasn’t about to wait in the huge line at blue bottle company. I mentioned to parking lot attendant that he should know that not all businesses in the ferry building will validate the ticket. He told me quote “all” businesses at the ferry building can validate passes. Since I did not have a receipt or validated parking pass, I ended up paying 18 dollars to park. This place might be worth trying if you arrive by foot, but definitely not worth driving for. We will not be coming back.

Dandelion Chocolate out and Vive La Tarte replace the space. They don't have as much as their Howard St brick and mortar only carry popular items. It's more of a cafe booth than a full fledged bakery. Taco croissant is what they tout here, but other ordinary standard goods are available too. Seating is limited to a coaster rolling communal table. People who don't like standing in line for branded coffee can have drip or espresso without wait time.

The chicken and avocado taco croissant was delicious. I would totally get it again. I might get two the next time I come here. There are more on their menu and I would love trying the others out too.

Holy moly the croissants are amazingly flakey and delicious. My wife and I both got a regular latte and it was brewed to perfection, way better than your typical coffee place

Please don’t go if you have other options -Blue bottle, Peet’s, paramo, or even Starbucks is better. This place is way overpriced. $5.75 for a not special latte? I’m wondering who gives them courage to list a price like water in the dessert?

I tried this place after reading about tacros (croissant tacos) in Food Magazine. The croissant portion was really good, but the taco portion was bland. Given how expensive it is ➡️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
