Warmly chic restaurant with a patio, offering clever breakfast & brunch plates, plus coffee drinks.
"This neighborhood breakfast-only restaurant combines influences from the U.S., Europe, and Mexico, not to mention a thoughtful coffee program with options such as Japanese cold brew and pour-over flights. Many of the breakfasts lean rich, such as biscuits and gravy, johnnycakes, or the pork chop, waffle, egg, and Portuguese doughnut combo. Don’t miss the eggs Benedict here, which comes with chorizo on sopes." - jamiekillin, Chris Malloy
"“My first thought of the day after arriving home from tour is: where can I get something for brunch? Vovomeena is a staple. They use some of the best ingredients around, including the local Schreiner’s sausage in one of my favorite dishes, the Bangin Pocket. Eggs, gouda cheese, and sausage in a fresh pita. Like Ricky said, ‘She bangs, she bangs …oh baby, when she moves she moves.’ Good vibes fill the room and the same staff that were running the place ten years ago when I started going there are still around to greet you with smiles at the door. And for coffee drinkers, they have an incredible in-house cold brew. The mocha cappuccino is the perfect amount of chocolate to sweeten up your day. It’s a consistently great place and I routinely find something new to enjoy about this gem in Phoenix.” - Kennedy Brock" - jess basser sanders
"Vovomeena, initially unassuming and nestled behind an array of large chain restaurants off of McDowell, is a charming counter-service establishment that has earned its place as a local favorite, and it’s easy to see why. If they can’t create something on-site, they source it locally. Vovomeena features an impressive coffee selection, partnering with the local Roastery of Cave Creek and showcasing a Japanese cold-brewed coffee technique. This method involves allowing cold water to slowly drip, one by one, over the coffee grounds, resulting in a stronger and less acidic flavor. Be prepared for parking challenges, and there is often a long line (though it moves quickly), so plan for some extra time." - Mcconnell Quinn, Jamie Killin
