Warren's Inn - Review - Downtown - Houston - The Infatuation

"Warren’s is the best dive bar in Downtown. It’s dark, illuminated only by multicolor holiday lights, and the best spot to sit is their flimsy indoor gazebo. As a former strip club, all of the seating here centers around the elongated bar. The bartenders pour drinks so strong that ordering more than two should come with a Surgeon General’s warning. And while there are more than a few cobwebs in the corners and one or two uncouth characters, Warren’s remains a classic thanks to the cheap prices, stiff pours, and relative anonymity only dive bars can provide. photo credit: Quit Nguyen photo credit: Quit Nguyen photo credit: Quit Nguyen" - Chelsea Thomas

Houston’s Best Houston Cocktail Bars

"This Downtown dive is a far cry from the boisterous bars that line Main Street, but it is a Houston institution in its own right. On any given day, tunes from the jukebox flood the space while locals belly up to the rounded bar for a cold beer or no-fuss mixed drink." - Brittany Britto Garley

The 16 Best Restaurants and Bars in Downtown Houston

"Warren’s Inn is a historic Downtown dive bar that is well worth a visit. The vibe inside is low-key and relaxed — a far cry from the livelier bars around the corner on Main Street. The jukebox showcases a range of artists, from Willie Nelson to Wiz Khalifa, and seating at the bar is suitable for winding down with a cold beer or a proper martini, as patrons have done for decades." - Eater Staff

Google
The extreme dive bar experience and I'm living for it! Visited a few times when I resided in the downtown area and had to come back with my boyfriend when we were in town. Same charm and laid back environment I loved and appreciated. Service was on point(I wish I remembered the female bartender's name, she was there a Saturday night) amazing! Hope to become some what regulars if we find ourselves back in Houston.

Google
There are a lot of reasons why this historically and currently is a 5 star bar. As a dive bar, this is one of the best you will go to. Say whatever you want about the service, but I always find it straightforward and honest. The vibes of this place are immaculate, and you would find it hard to replicate this feeling at any other bar in the city. Drinks are always stiff, and the times are always good if you go in knowing all this to be true.

Google
This place was so delightful!! I came in late at night on my friends birthday cause we were looking for a nice and chill bar, and this was exactly it! Very pretty decor, nice music (& jukebox), very kind bartender and over great vibes! Also the drinks were great and packed a punch, one of the first times my friend actually got tipsy. Will absolutely come back

Google
The place was nice with a great atmosphere. We were genuinely having a great time. I was hugging and kissing my girlfriend, nothing over the top. Apparently, someone felt uncomfortable, and Bonnie the bartender asked us to stop showing affection. 😂😂😂😂 First time anyone’s ever asked us to tone down the love! Update: I received retaliatory messages from individuals related to this place, definitely says a lot about the kind of people you might encounter. The place itself is nice, and we were considering giving them a second chance… but after this? No way. 😂

Google
You get what you pay for, and fortunately for me I love large pours for cheap. $7.50 for a jack and coke....I think the measure was like 50ml. Toilet could do with a clean like

Located in the historic market square, Warren's inn is a must. It's cozy, dark with a bar and tables, great music playing thru, and amazing vibes. Drinks are GREAT! Bonnie is always so attentive and sweet and actually takes the time to have a conversation and check up on you, when I came in for the first time she took the time to explain the drink selection and the history of the building. People are always pleasant and friendly, which is a plus! It's such a unique cool little dive bar in Houston!

Google
Warrens is the best bar in Houston. Period I never thought to leave a review because I never would’ve thought someone would have a negative opinion on this place. If you don’t want strong pours and meeting people that almost become close friends. This ain’t your spot.

Clarissa Johnson

Google
A wonderful and magical place! Truly a gem. I wish we lived closer because we would be here all the time. Bartenders are amazing, best dirty martinis, manhattans, old fashioned. The prices are so affordable for the beautiful cocktails you get. Can't wait to return.

Joanie K.

Yelp
A Houston Institution ! Great folks with a no nonsense pour ( heavy) , lots of regulars who are sure to make your time there an absolute joy! No food, but there is almost always snaks from the gang celebrating something!

Yelp
One of my favorite parts of Houston to grab drinks is Main Street. After attending a comedy show at Bayou Music Center, we barhopped and ended the night at Warren's Inn. Since it's in a busy part of downtown Houston, you'll have to find street parking or park in a garage. I've been to Warren's a few times over the years with my most recent visit on a Saturday night. We sat at the bar. After ordering a cocktail or two, which typically has a heavy pour, we enjoyed the sights. This is the type of bar where you'll see regulars and barhoppers like us. One regular was wasted and thought my friends were flirting with him when they weren't. It was entertaining. Service at the bar was relatively fast. Overall, Warren's is a good time. It's more of a casual spot that has some characters and that has stood the test of time downtown.

Yelp
It was fun night. Drinks are strong. Good crowd and ambiance. No food only strong drinks. Good service.

Kat M.

Yelp
My absolute favorite bar in America. Everything about Warren's is fantastic. The ambience, staff, clientele and best drinks in town!

Yelp
Re visited the Warren's Inn and heard the last bartender was fired. Amada made up for all wrong goings. I love this bar.

Yelp
OMG how much fun is this place! This circular bar can do no wrong and neither can the staff that works it! Such fun people and such great deals for happy hour drinks! We literarily broke out into dance when Madonna's Hung Up came on! Thank you for letting us be ourselves between this bar and NotsoH there is nothing that can compare to a Downtown Houston day of day drinking - make Warren's Inn your stop as its an inevitable part of your pub crawl.
google avatar

Mary D.

Yelp
Warrens is a cool spot with strong drinks! We're told it's where the lawyers hang out but it was pretty empty on Friday night around 9pm. The bartender had a heavy hand with the vodka, I tell you that!

Yelp
My wife and I come into downtown Houston once a month or so for the Alley Theatre, Jones Hall, etc. we enjoy a drink before the shows and Warren's Inn is our go-to spot. This local's bar definitely has the patina of a genuine dive bar. Having said that, we have always been warmly greeted and professionally served. It is a basic bar, with all of the necessary beers and liquors to get the job done. They do what they do well and don't worry about the rest. If you are ever in downtown Houston and want a bit of authenticity in your bar, you could do no better than Warren's. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Jared G.

Yelp
Warren's is a great spot for cheap, strong drinks and no-nonsense, straightforward service. Not exactly a dive bar but it's close. A comfortable, anti-fancy, come-as-you-are type of place you can slip into like your favorite slippers. No lines, no cover charge, no pretentiousness but also not overly warm and fuzzy. Historic in Houston's bar scene, Warren's is a "get what you see" kind of place. Rules: bring your ID, don't walk in just to use the bathroom, and know what you want. There's no trendy seasonal cocktail menu and it's a relaxed slow pace here. Don't be that impatient guest waving their credit card or chasing bartenders... They see you and will get to you soon. At Warren's, be kind and cool and you'll be treated even more kindly and "cooly." Alternatively, if you play stupid games you'll win stupid prizes.

Renee B.

Yelp
Wonderful dive bar. Strong drinks, cheap prices, great vibe! The vodka and Topo Chico made my head spin. LOL. Will definitely go back!

Moi H.

Yelp
Really charming, old place. One of the oldest bars in Houston. Heavy pours, cheap drinks. Total dive bar, love it!

Yelp
Quoting myself from my April 23rd, 2015 5-star review... "Never go to Warren's just for a 'night cap.' You'll end up staying way too long, drinking way too much, and hating yourself the next day." Years later, I still haven't learned my lesson. Countless night caps followed by countless mornings with a side of regret for breakfast. If you do trust yourself enough to have a drink or two, I advise you stop at two ... drinks are strong. Martinis, old fashioned, and any other legit cocktail is a must. I even ordered a marg once before that wasn't too shabby. Hats off to the barkeep, the jukebox, and the diverse crowd that makes me proud to call Houston home.

Natasha W.

Yelp
Really fun spot and heavy pours! Shout out to Mike our bartender. Had a great time at this historic spot.

Yelp
This bar is great for a lot of things. Drinking alone when you are feeling sad or lonely. A great spot for a blind date. Nothing like getting to know each other over strong martinis. Sometimes after a long work day coming in here and seeing the super diverse crowd relaxing and chilling is just what I need. Business men, judges, waiters, bike delivery guys, baseball fans all mix and mingle in this Houston classic. A must visit if on Market Square. Like Farrah said, never come here for just one drink. It won't happen. I get a Dirty Martini every time. I'm sure all their drinks are great but this bad boy just hits the spot every time for me. This dive has one of the best juke boxes in town. Not a bad jam on the list and something for everyone. You can tell a lot about a person by the songs they play on an old jukebox. I love listening to the classics mixed with Selena and Dolly Parton. Sometimes with a side of Elvis because why not! Saddle up to the bar and don't order a double because they all already are!

Sarah J.

Yelp
Terrible experience this evening when the bar tender did not approve of how a drink was ordered. She was irrational and the behavior was unacceptable.
google avatar

Yelp
It's just ok. It's not bad and the location is alright, but if you are going to hand downtown, there are so many other places you would enjoy.

Yelp
me and my friends just swang by to have some drinks... and we left cuz of the lady at the bar In my life and believe me I have traveled and been to many places in the world!!! it is the first time I walked out of a place because of an attitude... to the owner as an advice... people come to have drinks not to receive a very negative attitude... she was blonde, had glasses people at bars getting orders generally smile not yell... oh well I will definitely not go back neither will my friends... by the way Kanaloa is way cooler!

Yvonne G.

Yelp
Loved this place until tonight...The bartender, Hispanic guy I think his name is Mike from the valley...We love this place because it's chill and has a digital jukebox...We pay for our music and have a few drinks...The bartender cancels the music because he doesn't like the songs...when we complain he turns the jukebox off and says he is getting off in 30 minutes and maybe the next bartender will like the music...Never going back...just lost a $200 tab...
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
Cheap drinks. Strong drinks. Low-volume background music. Me likes. That's all I have to say about this place. It's a great dive bar, what more do you want me to say?
google avatar

Cynthia V.

Yelp
Low-key, quirky atmosphere - what else would you expect from a dive bar downtown. Drinks are reasonably priced and poured the way you like them: strong. Definitely a great place to end the night!
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty much on what everybody said about the pours here are right on target. I ordered the whiskey and sprite and am accustomed to places doing the 1/2 1/2 pour but these people just kept the bottle pouring on and on and on while having me ask myself if I ordered just Whiskey on the rocks or what? She finally stopped and topped it off with a splash or sprite and I must say this thing was trying to sneak up on me and kick my a$$. Luckily Franks Pizza insured me so I would not get hit after the first round. The drink was good, generously portioned good may I add and for only $4.50? How does this place make money? Ambiance, semi dark, velvet walls, one television anchored from the ceiling from the 90's that look like it could weigh an easy 250 lbs and the picture was kind of washed up which pretty much matched the interior. I'm not saying the interior is washed up but it looked better than having a vibrant Sony Vizio blarring colors in a place that seemed somewhat a bar in the 30's would one could imagine. The people, pretty much non obtrusive on this visit, they change out in waves. I felt a little awkward at first because when I stepped in here there seemed like the 21ish crowd. After sitting down with my drink in came and half way replaced by the 30+ crowd, bravo! A few sips later came back and mingled in more of the younger crowd. Race is a mixture here, everybody gets to come in and have a good time. I definitely will be back, subtract one star because most of the other empty tables had to be cleared off if you wanted a place to sit but that's an easy fix.
google avatar

Nadine B.

Yelp
I hate the fact that I have to give 1 star because I thoroughly enjoy giving great reviews however, this occasion calls for it. With that being said, I understand why most establishments downtown don't allow bathroom use unless they're patrons but I really had to use the bathroom and totally missed the sign. After leaving the bathroom I was immediately berated by the bartender with slurry of mild yet still inappropriate name calling because I didn't ask for permission. Once i realized what happened I immediately came back inside to try and reconcile the situation with an apology and the purchase of a beer but was denied. The bartender was unforgiving and unrelenting with her insults, even encouraging her present patrons, whom I would presume were regulars, to join in with their insults as well. Things happen, people mess up. I tried to fix the situation after nearly peeing my pants but for a place of business to act this quickly without any form of initial reservation is...sad. The behavior and reaction speaks volumes about the owner, the careless mgmt and their pejorative prejudices towards potential guests. Lol...I was "banned for life" for using the bathroom.
google avatar

Jeremy T.

Yelp
They are known for their martinis, although I don't really drink them so I can't say whether theirs are awesome or not. The decor is very worn and old, so if you're looking for a 1970s style place, this might be the place to bring a group of friends. I've always come with small groups and most loved it, but it's not for everyone.
google avatar

Falicia D.

Yelp
Very chill vintage bar with a lot of regulars regardless of age . The drinks are great, along with great bartenders. The bar also has old vintage music kiosk, with a lot of old school music, from Aretha Franklin to Jimmy buffet.
google avatar

Nava N.

Yelp
Very nast nasty place to visit. The bar tenders are total asses. Very disrespectful and arrogant old ladies who take 20 minutes to make one drink on top of it all! The blonde fat one with glasses is the bad apple in that place and the old lady follows with a shitty attitude and they yell at their customers. It was sad to see people get treated like shit while spending their money but to each their own. Will never be back, EVER.
google avatar

Jordan W.

Yelp
This is another dive bar in the center of downtown strictly for drinks. However, my favorite part of this place was that jukebox they had from the 80s. It really makes it feel like it was a bar people used to go to back in that era. Other than that, there are some tables, a nice big bar, and places to just hang out. I had a Dos Equis from the bar, a couple of them as a matter of fact. The nice gal who was the bartender was nice, and started up a little conversation with me. There are also mixed drinks, plenty of beer, and more liquor available, so poke around and you'll find something you like. Since this is just a dive bar, there isn't any food to eat, but it is a good place after a nice night out on the town. You'll find it is a little crowded after about 10, so I would recommend Ubering here. Bring a few friends to one of the most popular dive bars in H town!

Ashley M.

Yelp
How do I give them a 0 star? I was about just say they were RACIST until I read the reviews and saw that others experienced the same black and white. That honestly made me feel better lol. At least I know they are just mean. The bartender was SO mean to me that I was about to take time out of my day to go back there and tell her she hurt my feelings. With everything going on in the world today people just need to learn to be nice!
google avatar

Stephen M.

Yelp
Quite honestly one of the best-underated bars in the city. No frills, real people, real bartenders, just what I like. They pour the strongest drinks in Houston, so don't ask for a double. The bartenders are not "mean" as some people would say, they just aren't going to kiss your butt and cater to pretentiousness.
google avatar

Amy K.

Yelp
I agree with all of the other reviews. The bartenders are all rude as hell! They have nasty personalities and make their patrons feel extremely uncomfortable. They were disrespectful to my boyfriend and I and we truly regret ever walking into the place. Sooooooo many better options in the area to get a drink from people who have know how to tend bar as well as have an engaging and fun personality!

Yelp
My favorite Old School, Heavy Pour, Serious Drinking Bar in Houston. I started drinking here in the late 80s when I was looking for good stiff drinks that a college student could afford. When I was tired of having a beer at La Carafe, I'd wander "across" Old Market Square to Warren's. The walls are covered in maroonish velvet wall paper and dark wood paneling. The retro decor was antique looking even back then. The wells were some of the best deals in town. I can imagine that if the Rat Pack were in town at the Rice Hotel, they would have wandered into Warren's as part of their cool night on the town. Warren's is still the joint to get great drinks at great prices. I've been drinking Maida's (the bartender) cocktails for years and they are still delicious. Order more than one and you'll notice it tastes different (even stronger the second time around). Bars are coming and going just a few blocks away on Main Street, but a classic like Warren's is here to stay. I've learned just recently that both Warren's and La Carafe are owned by the same owner, the lovely Caroline. And that both joints have been in her family for many years. She's been running it very well with little changes and I hope she'll continue to do that for a long time to come. My tip: Hit a real classic Houston bar that doesn't have "try" to be something -- it just is.
google avatar

David N.

Yelp
Just a bar...Heavy pour...Loud...Rowdy patrons Not my cup of tea but other people enjoy that kind of thing. That description would be a 4 star in many other people's opinion but not mine. It reminded me of an old saloon and with the whack AC they brought the heat from the old wild west as well.
google avatar

Wayne M.

Yelp
We went to this place under the impression that it was great. The bartender was an ass and only concerned with the local folk he sees all the time to start. His drink he said was the old fashioned, he made it in under 30seconds with no love and it tasted horrible, I actually left half of it on the bar top which is rare (like never). I would have gave a negative rating alone if I could but he did know some history to the place...... not much but enough to satisfy my curiosity. I highly recommend going somewhere else for a cocktail.

Dustin J.

Yelp
Low key bar in downtown is great for after work. Drink selection is limited though and would not recommend cocktails.
google avatar

Mark W.

Yelp
Now I don't come to Warren's Inn much because I'm never on that side of the Market Square for drinks. But when I do, I'm there to stay to get some great stiff drinks for a great price that's unreal for a downtown establishment. The place itself looks and feels really, really old on the inside. There's even a gazebo seating area on the inside as well. The crowd there is definitely a great mix with neighborhood bar feel. You could definitely strike up a conversation with whomever you sit next to without feeling like you're intruding on something. Remember, this place isn't one of the fancy cocktail places around the block. If you're bringing an out of towner to show around the town, make this one of the stop to show a different side of Houston bars.
google avatar

Edward V.

Yelp
Tourist Friendly, Collectic Atmosphere, Lively Crowd with Superior Service. Beers are Cold (Pitchers and Frosted Mugs avail) and Drinks are STIFF. Bar Stool and Table Seating. They even have an lite inside gazebo. Jukebox was jamming with a mixture of early classics to Reggae. I was busy tying one on and did not eat, but have heard that they are know for there soups and sandwiches. Fun times for all...Signs we can COEXIST
google avatar

Leslie W.

Yelp
If you want a fancified bar go somewhere else. If you want an adult bar with a great oldies jukebox, cigarette machine (no smoking inside though) and strong ass drinks...go here! Order at the bar. There is no table service. Run a tab but don't forget to get your card back at the end of your fun. Jukebox is classic blues, country oldies and eclectic jams some don't care for. But you will find yourself singing along after a while. And it's not so loud that you can't carry on a conversation. Yes! Big, beautiful wooden horseshoe bar and a few long tables to gather. Parking is downtown parking...awful. But you may want to Uber it there anyway. After a couple of their generous pour drinks you shouldn't be driving anyway! Drinks weren't overpriced. Wife and I had three beers and three top shelf bourbons between us for about $35. We don't go downtown to drink often. But when we do we hit Warrens or La Carafe.

Yelp
AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE. The sign outside caught our eye and made us want to come in for a short drink. Would by no means class this as a dive bar!!!! We ended up sitting in Warren's from 11am until 6pm during a hot Houston summer day, came for the drinks but stayed for the company! Mike the bartender made the day fly by, he showed us how to make drinks, explained different spirits to us, experimented with making new drinks from our home country that he hasn't heard of before, and was fantastic company! The bar is small, so we were able to speak with other customers and have a great time with them as well! Lots of character, the jukebox was a fantastic addition, we had a great time singing together and dancing around! Menu and drinks were very cheap, but the fantastic service warranted a big tip. Thank you so much Warren's for an amazing day

Yelp
It disappoints me to have to leave a bad review here; I really liked this place until I had an interaction with the staff. There is a heavy set man with slicked hair and glasses that is so disturbingly rude that I am still scratching my head wondering how he ended up in the service industry. My friends and I were trying to escape the hustle and bustle of the busier bars a few blocks over so I though Warrens would be a nice place to relax for a moment. We walk in and it was a bit busy (mostly older people 30s-50s); we made our way to the bar and I wanted a moment to consider what I would have to drink so ordered a water for the moment until I made a decision and the bartender so kindly gave his opinion by saying "okay and is anybody going to order a REAL drink?" I'm sorry but first of all, it is not unheard of to have water WHILST drinking alcohol. Anyway, one of the friends that was with me decided she wanted to order a cherry vodka sour, so the bartender goes to make her drink and returns. I'm viewing behind the bar trying to decide of which beer id like to have when suddenly my friend takes a sip of her drink and makes a horrific sound and covers her mouth immediately; she finally reached a point where she could speak again after chugging her fake drink (water) and said that her drink seemed to be rancid. We told the bartender and he rolls his eyes and grabs a straw to test the drink out himself, good. He looked like it was painfully disgusting which he very much deserved. He sat there flustered and makes the realization that he used olive juice rather than vodka. He never apologized just walked away and he attempted to explain how he accidentally grabbed the wrong bottle (I used to be a bartender and that's not an easy mistake to make). At this point my friends and I had enough of his attitude and decided we would do him a favor and leave. As we began to leave the bar he rudely shouts "what you don't want your drink?" My friend said no, thank you. He then holds the drink up to everyone at the bar and says "WELL THEN WHO WANTS A FREE CHERRY VODKA SOUR?", as we were walking out we could hear him explaining to the patrons at the bar that we were "too good" to take his offer. It's unfortunate for this bar as it is such a great place, but with servers like that, you could run anybody off. I will not be going back go this establishment because I prefer to be treated like a human, not an issue. Just be prepared for anything if you go here. *update* It's been exactly a year since I wrote this review and I have been fortunate enough to not step foot in this place to this very day and still counting. Life couldn't be better :)
google avatar

Lucas A.

Yelp
This is one of the best dive bars you will go to in the area. They do not skimp on the drinks. Just don't walk in expecting this to be your regular bar like the others. Be normal and sociable to the bartenders, and it will be incredibly worth it. The jukebox has tons of great, older music to play in there too!
google avatar

Lee E.

Yelp
So many reviews about the stiff drinks, but what about the beer? I am happy to report Warren's Inn serves it cold and in a frosty mug. They have 8 or 9 bottled beers and 4 beers on draft. The draft beers included Budweiser, Bud Light and Ziegenbock and Miller Lite. I was there on a Sunday night, and a mug of Budweiser was $2.50 and a pitcher was $10.00 I like this bar, the music isn't blaring like so many other bars, so you can actually hold a conversation. Other Things to Know - They have a jukebox - Smoking only outside, in front of the building - I only noticed one TV, which is in the front corner or the building. - If you want a snack, ask the bartender for some chex mix.

Yelp
If I could give this place 2.5 stars I would. I'm so middle of the road with this one. Okay so the scene is saturday afternoon.. around 6-7 getting ready for a little drinking before a concert. We walk in and see about 5 people chilling around the bar and the bartender kinda just stairs with a small "hi" Bartender: Okay so I was preferred for the "rude" from reading the positive and negative reviews on yelp. I understand that some places just have the vibe. The thing that irked me about the "rudeness" was how uppity it seemed. It was almost like the bartender and her pal at the bar were the cool kids at school and everyone who walked in was sitting at their lunch table. This vibe was fun and cute back before I could drive a motored vehicle or smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol.. But why are grown people still acting this way. Its more boring and annoying than anything else. Drinks: I had a gin with a splash of tonic basically. I love a place with a strong drink and this was it, But the drinks are not very cheap especially since it wasn't even night fall yet. $7 for a well gin.... i guess. Overall the bartender and crowd seem so "try hard" that they become asses. The drinks are strong but drinking large amounts of alcohol around people who don't want me there seems mildly alcoholic.

Yelp
My friend lost his ID and we were kicked out due to him, clearly over 35 (TABC law). Our drinks were taken out of our hands and told to leave because our 45 year old friend had no ID because he lost it recently. We were heckled by actual patrons. It was really nasty. I don't know what the hell was going on here but we thought this was a chill Downtown place,, no, you have to be in the click to be here.

Yelp
I was surprised by this place. It was actually pretty nice on the inside. It reminded me of this bar I usually go to every year around Christmas time in Martinez, CA right next to the Amtrak Station just outside of San Francisco. Quintessential dive bar. Great place for a relatively cheap beer. They have about 4 beers on tap; 3 where standard American crappy beers but they did have 1 local 1836 beer of tap. Someone told me they didn't have tap beer but they were wrong. According to my friend, the whisky diet was quite strong. I was always hesitant to visit this place within the market square area but I'll definitely would not hesitate to come back sometime in the future.

Yelp
Out on a Tuesday night with some of my favorite peeps; this place was recommended by someone that works in the area, and I was disappointed with my experience. Great location, however the music player or whatever you call it wasn't working, and it didn't have that kinda, let's just hang out here vibe; instead I got sleepy and decided to bounce out of there with my group. The only thing that bar had going good for itself is...the drinks weren't weak!

Yelp
Since my last post was removed because someone disagreed with it I will be a little more informative...this place sucks. I have worked for dive bars and rudeness is no excuse. Over the holidays I went here and was promptly yelled at by a female employee. By the looks of some of the other responses on Yelp, we all can assume that this staff has their days. This is not the first time I have been here but it will be the last. Way too many other choices.

Yelp
Warren's, you dirty beautiful little beast! The walls are covered in maroon paisley with a texture. The juke box is nothing but oldies - Muddy Waters, Etta James, Billie Holiday, Arethra Franklin, etc. Although - it's not very loud at all. The whole place is dim and intimate. It's the kind of bar you see in shows where they have a "regular" bar. If I lived downtown, I'd be at this little place all the time. The have so many places to sit, whether you are on a date or with a group of 10. We sat, the four of us, and drank while playing card games. The table behind us had 10 people and they were loud and hilarious, two tables over were a couple on a date. There were all races, creeds, colors, ages, of people here. It's a really a grown up bar in my opinion. There is no outside patio, there is no vibe of PARTY! It's more like a bar Bill Murray would hang out -- think Lost in Translation.

Yelp
Extremely unprofessional staff/bartenders. We stopped here on Friday night and on more than one occasion one male bartender actively ignored me and the other male bartender refused to make me a drink because he was "off the clock". I told the female bartender I was unhappy with the service at that time. I found out today through several sources that the female bartender has been asking around about me (I have a unique last name). She said I was "drunk angry" about the bartenders not moving fast enough and was unhappy with the tip I left after telling her I was unhappy with the service that night. This is beyond unprofessional and appalling that Warren's would let their staff talk bad about their customers. I won't be returning as there are lots of choices within a block radius and I do not support businesses with employees who treat their customers poorly.

Yelp
I've only been here a few times over the past year since I don't live in H-town anymore, but it's always a good place to have a few drinks. I came here with my friend after leaving buffalo wild wings during halftime of the the UT - Bama championship game of 2010. He was so depressed that Mccoy got injured and that UT was gonna lose. We didn't know where to go, but what better place to drown your sorrows than Warren's Inn. They make great martini's here, extra dirty. It's just an old time bar, with an actually nice ambiance. it's really quiet, and seems to be full of mostly old timers. We ordered a few Ketel one dirty martinis, and got some chips to snack on. I think they are one of the oldest bars in Houston. Just goes to show you that the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Yelp
A very small old hole in the wall that has Sinatra in the juke box. The bar staff know how to pour a drink and when the music is playing, you feel like Bogie could walk in at any moment. It's just kinda cool. Five stars
